Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since the last update but we’re really excited about the year ahead for PlayStation Plus as we strive to bring you great content and fantastic discounts on a range of games and services.
There are three new PS3 games and two for PS Vita in the line-up for February, as well as awesome titles such as Guardians of Middle Earth, Mortal Kombat and Jet Set Radio that are already available right now! So, without further ado…
New PlayStation 3 content
We’re very happy to announce that from 6th February for one month, you can download the awesome Sleeping Dogs.
This action adventure game from our friends at Square Enix takes you deep into the violent criminal underworld of vibrant, neon-lit Hong Kong. You’ll assume the role of Wie Shen, an undercover cop looking to take down the Triads from the inside. You’ll have to prove yourself worthy as you fight your way up the organisation, taking part in brutal criminal activities without blowing your cover.
Critics worldwide agree it’s a top-tier open-world action title – make sure you grab this while it’s available!
Your second addition to the Instant Game Collection is the extremely fun F1 Race Stars from Codemasters. The Plus service has been a little shooter-heavy over the last couple of months so in the interest of diversity why not kick back, relax, get some friends round and have a good time with this addictive multiplayer racer.
Your final PS3 addition this month is ingenious first person puzzler Quantum Conundrum, designed by Kim Swift – one of the creators of Valve’s classic brain-teaser Portal.
Quantum Conundrum sends you on a quest of inter-dimensional problem-solving to rescue your mad-scientist uncle, who’s gone missing somewhere in his labyrinthine mansion. The professor’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device (or ISD), should prove quite useful in navigating the obstacles in each room – such as death lasers and pools of skin-melting “science juice.” Gulp.
New PS Vita content
First up for PS Vita on 13th February is the oft-requested WipEout 2048. Reborn for PS Vita to take advantage of the system’s unique features and dazzling OLED screen you can race up to eight players simultaneously online and compete for first place on the global leaderboards.
Next up, on 20th February, is an incredibly addictive game from our friends at Ubisoft. Lumines: Electronic Symphony is the first PS Vita outing for this popular franchise, bringing together block-dropping puzzle action with an all-new 3D graphics engine and some of the biggest electronic music artists around.
As usual, over the coming weeks you can also expect exclusive PS Plus discounts on lots of other titles, including Just Cause 1 and 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the Dust 514 Mercenary Pack and Alien Breed Trilogy. We’ll update you on these offers and more in the weekly Store posts. Also, Plus members will have access to an exclusive theme for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch from 30th January.
On top of all that, I’m very pleased to announce that as of 6th February we will once again be bringing you a fantastic discount on the 90 day membership for PlayStation Plus. For two whole weeks you’ll be able to get over 30% off the regular price – that’s €9.99/£7.99, reduced from €14.99/£11.99. A bargain, no?
In summary
Leaving the Plus Service in February:
6th February: BioShock 2
6th February: Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
6th February: Cubixx HD
13th February: Jet Set Radio
20th February: Pinball Arcade
Entering the Plus Service in February:
6th February: Sleeping Dogs
6th February: Quantum Conundrum
6th February: F1 Race Stars
13th February: WipEout 2048
20th February: Lumines Electronic Symphony
If you are not currently a Plus member, visit our PlayStation Plus site to find out more about the service. Here you’ll learn all you need to know about the Instant Game Collection, which gives members access to at least 14 games at any one time and over 65 games across the course of a 12 month subscription – all for a one-off payment of just £39.99.
Remember, if you’ve not got access to your PS3 or PS Vita then you can also buy through our online store.

Hi Chris,
I asked the exact same thing to Playstation support as n0rmalgu3st did about Mortal Kombat for Turkey, didn’t get any answers though.
So I asked for help in Playstation forum, yet no luck.
Can you help for making it available in February?
Thanks!

This is by far the best PlayStation Plus content to me; I’ll get to enjoy Sleeping Dogs since my friend has been badgering me to get it because it’s awesome, I love Formula 1 racing and Mario Kart, so F1 Race Stars would definitely suit me; and I completely LOVE puzzles, so a game from a Portal creator is a great addition. I am genuinely happy, and I cannot wait for February 6th, especially since I’ve been away from gaming for quite some time now.
You would really make my day (rather, months) if you stick Journey as one of the PS+ games, I really want to play that game. It would be fun if it were added in March, to coincide with my birthday.

Hi Chris,
Just a quick query – is there any chance of adding video content to to Plus subscription?
Maybe 1 or two rentals a week? This could then start to compliment the Netflix and Lovefile apps.
Thanks

MGS on the Vita would be great as well, just a suggestion. Or some discounts on those Piball Arcade DLC tables.

@ Chris
Thank you Chris and the PS Store team for the goodies you keep on giving to PS Plus members! I bought Sleepng Dogs back in the 12 Christmas deals, but I can’t generally complain, since I have played awesome games like Dead Space 2, courtesy of PS Plus.
May I suggest some possible gifts for future IGC entries?
What about a good platformer? I know Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is currently available, but maybe one more (since we have been flooded with shooters of any kind and I got sick of them)? I don’t have something specific in my mind, since good platformers are rare nowadays
What I would really love to see, is a good JRPG (this generation is missing crazy, japanese games, like Okami, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus in the PS2 era). Maybe Final Fantasy XIII is a bit too much to ask, but there are other little gems. A Tales game? Or Star Ocean? Or even Valkyria Chronicles (which I can’t find at retail)?

@358 The new rule is you’re allowed a piece of software on 2 currently active systems, i think that means you can delete and redownload as much as you want, so long as it’s only on the 2 systems.

I plan on only playing Sleeping Dogs plus playing F1 Racing Stars for the first time

I agree with PIREDERAS (post 364). There should be more rpg games in the IGC such as Final Fantasy, or Tales series, even Kingdom of Amalur sounds good as many other people kept posting about that game. Hopefully it will be considered

I think Playstation Plus is great!
I would like to suggest a few games:
- Singularity
- Mass Effect 1
- Dishonored
- The Saboteur
- Burnout Paradise
- The Dragon Age games
- NHL 13 (not happening, I know)
- The walking dead
- Kingdoms of Amalur
I also want to state that Dead Island should not be on the Instant Game Collection. I played it for an hour but just could not take any more of it after that. I found it repetitive, glitchy and overall boring.
Anyways, thanks for PS+!

Btw, would give me more time to beat Bioshock 2 since I already have Sleeping Dogs on disc. Oh and here’s my sugguestions which might be good for IGC:
- Journey
- Grand Theft Auto IV (with both Episodes)
- The Walking Dead
- Tokyo Jungle
- DIRT 3
- Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
- Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PSVita)
- MotorStorm RC
- Sonic Generations
- LittleBigPlanet Vita
- Rayman Origins (PSVita)
Also TheFistsOfAnElk, I agree with you Dead Island. I hated the game as well.

I forgot to ask in my last comment, can we expect DLC sales prices for Sleeping Dogs like past PS+ IGC games?
Landing Dragon’s Dogma for April(or even just a sale) would be cool with the Dark Arisen expansion coming out, I figure it would be beneficial for both PS+ and Capcom, I feel like a spoilt brat asking for games I’m interested in(just not enough to buy) to be put up for free ;p

New idea for you Chris. How about putting up a poll and depending on how much interest there is in a game (yeah you should likely pick them yourself, else you are going to have silly things, or super first day releases…but hey, that would certainly sell subscriptions
) and then you will know atleast the genre to aim for, if not give you a boost to try super hard to get a game? I mean have the pre-planned ones by all means, but think of this as a bonus?
Would certainly go to show SCEEs customer service isnt “completely” useless and that you are listening to feedback :X.
Blah blah legal, blah blah hard to do, blah blah not how its done. Aim for “Platinum” service (awesome reference to trophies is awesome >_>)

Cool update, glad I resisted getting Sleeping Dogs in the last sale!
IGC is also great to give some great, but overlooked games some exposure. Last night I finished ‘El Shaddai’, probably one of the most overlooked games last year. You can get it dirt cheap now, but it would be great if more could play that awesome game.

I currently only have a Vita, but I am a plus subscriber…. I really need to buy a new PS3 and a years sub as it’s running out (I had the 90 days one before). I also need a 32GB Card for Vita.
PS+ is going to cost me more than £30-£40 this year lol

Saying PS+ promises to deliver over 60 games a year across the PS3 AND Vita is completely dishonest. I don’t have a Vita and looking at the sales only 4 people in the UK have bothered buying one. I’m not interested in it either. So can you be more honest in future and clearly state the number of games PS+ will deliver just for the PS3? It isn’t that difficult and your customers will appreciate honesty rather than being lied to.

WTF!?
9 weeks, that’s how long you gave your MOST loyal customers, your vanguard of support, before flipping them the bird.
Chris what a damn joke some of your responses are, especially:
“We are happy with the sales of those titles (SD & F1) – we just really like to please our Plus members”
What? By letting them know you’ve let them waste their money.
@56 @83 @85 @89 @166 @171 @223 @230 @231 @246 @328 @335 @364 (sorry if I missed a few) all bought Sleeping Dogs in December. (“It’s not like I randomly bought it at a store you guys discounted and promoted it.” @328)
Some of the gamers can afford this deceit on your part, others make sacrifices to support YOU, yet you don’t have the decency of letting them know that a game will be free in the near future.
I bought a R500 (South African) voucher to get Sleeping Dogs during 12 days, I could much rather have used that money elsewhere, like renewing my subscription.

Regardless of whatever games are given out on PS+, some people will already have it, some people wont!
Lots of people people want a game eg Dead Island,Journey, and as many people wont want it and would prefer something else. I do agree with the idea of polls to see which games would be popular. Maybe then Sony picks a game and then one of the poll winners gets chosen as the other game (licensing/commercial agreements permitting)
Like some of the posts, Ive already played Sleeping Dogs but i say so what, there will be something for me next time or i’ll take a look at the other stuff. These seems to be a number of angry people and I say at the end of the day guys…we are only talking around £30 a year! Xbox live is more than that and you get much less for your money.
One thing I would say, I do think that it is reasonable that if someone has recently purchased a game over PSN download that becomes free under PS+ within say 2 months, then SCEE could offer some PSN credit as a good will gesture, maybe 30% of the value of the original download.

@280/281 (Anathema29)
Luckily I don’t have to worry about the financial part of it, but as one of the people who bought Sleeping Dogs in the December sale I do feel your pain. It’s like Sony and Square Enix deliberately decided to get one last financial gain burst out of the game before putting it up for free. Since the game is relatively new I never would have guessed it would be in the PS+ IGC anytime soon and I actually thought I had the deal of the year (now I understand why it was such a good deal compared to the other Xmas sale offers). Same goes for the people who bought F1 Race Stars in the January sales. I’m not one to complain very quickly and I still think PS+ is very good value for money, but this really put a bad taste in my mouth. I decided to not buy anything on sale in the PSN store anymore because of this, so as you put it already: in the end it’s their loss, not ours!

I bought Sleeping Dogs a couple of weeks ago on the XBox deal of the week. A also already have Wipeout for Vita. Them are the breaks.
Both are worth getting if you haven’t already.
Whilst I’d never buy F1 Race Stars, it certainly looks like it could be a bit of fun. Same with Lumines on the Vita.

@Blog Team
I just reloaded 10€ into my PSN account thru paypal (love how easy and nicely this works!!) in anticipation of buying PLUS again on feb 6. Now it would be totally amazing if it would enable people to also still download BIOSHOCK2. So to have the cheaper plus a bit earlier , but of course its not expected and I played the game anyways.
I truly think Sony is becoming better and better so I just wanted to say thanks! There is some nice value you are offering now , even compared to xbox or steam.

Hi, there’s a few PSP games I’d like to see added at some point (God of War : GoS and CoO) as well as Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines – I bought all these on PSP but the controls aren’t great… given the improvement the Vita has made to other PSP titles I bought digitally I would love to play these on the Vita but reluctant to buy them again.
I’d also like to see the current speed pack for NFS Most Wanted at a discounted price – that £8 is just too much for what you get IMO.
As for other games I’m eager to see added at some point include the God of War collections and DMC trilogy.
As a final note – if I upgrade my hard drive will I have to re-download all the games or can I copy them over (I have a 2GB external with 1GB formatted to FAT32 for PS3 usage etc that I can use to transfer data)?

Any plans for Demons Souls or Okami HD? Or maybe Dark Souls??? Well I have platinum on souls series, but the games are just too good so everyone has to get them for free on ps+
If I do not renew my subscription for 1 year then I decide to renew can I still play all the old games I have gathered chris?

Oh dear – all these negative people saying they bought games when they were discounted which are now free via PS+
Remember you pay £30/£40 a year and there’s over £200 worth of software for you to play during that time… you’re winning straight off… you may feel “robbed” but I have games I bought (like Crysis 2) just weeks before it became free (I still haven’t completed it) but I’m not complaining! It’s frustrating but (and here’s the difference) you can still play those games WITHOUT having to renew your plus subscription!!!
I have about 10 games I own physical copies of that I have got via plus and yes I have bought some games in store and on PSN only to have them become free a short while later… it’s the risk you take… maybe I should demand money back when a game I bought for £40 goes on offer for £20 a month or 2 after I bought it (the principle is the same)!?!
You win in the grand scheme of things – stop being so damn greedy!!!

Posted on 30 January, 2013 at 7:12 pm by Chr15toff3e
Some people would have an issue if they’ve just recently paid for a game that is now free to play on Plus, not long after buying it. I have physical copies of games that have been on there and I don’t have a problem with that, like yourself. But SCEE have only recently offered these games in the January Sale, so it’s a bit unfair on these people if they already have a Plus subscription. Surely the team must’ve planned what February’s content would include, and yet offered them anyway.
I think that a “coming soon” post for plus would help sort this problem out. If it shows what would be available in the next three months, customers could then buy other games that aren’t going to be part of the subscription. It wouldn’t have to show in what order they receive them, but it would just give them an idea on what to buy and what to avoid. I don’t know why something like this isn’t already in place. Personally, I think the service is great, but it could be organised better for people who regularly buy games from the store.
397
Posted on 30 January, 2013 at 7:54 pm by Robinworldwide
@397 Kryss2K
Seriously, you think this is about greed? Way to look at it in a narrow minded way. The issue is not about us having the game already. I own probably more than 50% of the games we get on plus, but i’m still loving the service. You seem to overlook an important distinction though. If i would have bought Sleeping Dogs a month ago on disc in the store i would keep my mouth shut. The thing is that when they put up Sleeping Dogs and F1 Race Stars for a special sale, they already knew that it was going to be part of plus, but they gladly took our (extra) money without hesitation anyway. I don’t mind paying for stuff whatsoever but this is now more like an (unwillingly) donation. If someone sells you something while they know you can have it for free in just a little while, would you not feel ripped off? Do you think any of us would have bought the game if we knew it’d be free in a month? You really don’t see anything wrong with that? You really think the greed is on our ends? If you do you must be the biggest fanboy i’ve ever seen.

Posted on 30 January, 2013 at 8:19 pm by JammieDodgerz
Yeah, Dead Island would be pretty good to have on PS+
Even though I have already completed that game I still need to get the Platinum on it.
Anyways, my suggestions are The Darkness II, Dirt: Showdown & for PS Vita maybe Resistance: Burning Skies?
399
Posted on 30 January, 2013 at 8:23 pm by jay_mz
So during the 12 days of Christmas you offer sleeping dogs for $22 au for plus members (which I of course bought) and then a month later you give it away so it’s money wasted for your plus members that actually spend more money. This has happened too many times and I will not be renewing my plus membership this year that’s for sure.
