Greetings PlayStation fans, I return to the fantastical PlayStation blog bearing great news! Today we’re pleased to announce that KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX is coming to European and PAL regions this Autumn – exclusive to the PlayStation 3.
This is the perfect opportunity for the KINGDOM HEARTS fans among you to bathe in nostalgia and rekindle your love for KINGDOM HEARTS in a way you never thought possible. And of course for those of you who never played KINGDOM HEARTS on the PlayStation 2 back in March 2002, here’s your chance to experience this tale of bravery and discovery for the first time.
The much adored KINGDOM HEARTS series saw the formidable partnership of two great universes – Square Enix and Disney – for an unmatched action-RPG. You follow the story of Sora, a 14-year old boy thrown into a battle against a mysterious shadow enemy known as the Heartless. Armed with a trusty Keyblade and aided by the likes of Donald Duck and Goofy, Sora sets out on an adventure to find his friends and free the world of darkness.
So why should the KINGDOM HEARTS fans be excited for HD 1.5 ReMIX… other than the fact that it’s AWESOME? For starters these aren’t the games you’ve played before. KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5 ReMIX- includes KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX, previously a Japanese exclusive that introduced new weapons, new enemies, new abilities, new cutscenes, new missions, and a new secret movie – so just a few additions then!
Also included in HD 1.5 ReMIX is KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories, a direct sequel to KINGDOM HEARTS that was also previously unavailable in Europe. Complementing these two great games are the cinematic story videos from KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days, which act as an interquel between Re:Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II.
Even better – all this content has been completely remastered to feature stunning HD graphics and brand new audio… and it’s probably the best remastering work we’ve ever seen. Bold statement I know! We’ll have a lovely gameplay trailer for you to drool over soon but in the meantime I’m sure these screenshots will keep your craving eyes satisfied until then.
Oh and for you trophy addicts, don’t worry; we’ve got you covered too!
We’ll have more news for you in the coming months but in the meantime don’t forget to check out the Kingdom Hearts website, like our Facebook page, and follow us on Twitter.

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY ive been googling this frantically ever since that e3 rumor about it back in june. i cant wait to play it
i still bring out my old ps2 to play through the series every now and then.
it is literally the best game series in the world. dont care what anyone says.
how will this work with the ps4 though? it was heavily implied by the creator that a 2.5 would be inevitable but by the time thats ready the ps4 will be out and 1.5 will need to be remade..damn sony and their lack of learning from mistakes!(lack of backwards compatibility)
im kinda glad they made days into a video. though i really enjoy days i dont think it would of worked all as well on the ps3 and it lacks voice acting to much.
what i really hope they do is make sure that each kh game has a seperate trophy list. if they have a merged one i will be absolutely furious.
im so excited for the new gameplay!
ive watched all final cut videos on youtube but its not the same when you dont understand japanese haha.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

Man, I keep on telling myself I need to learn Japanese!
Q: How will this work with the ps4 though?
This is just for the PS3, sorry.

Just to echo other views, I would LOVE it on my vita too, but I wasnt expecting it cause it wasnt confirmed for japan, just hope they add at some point.
Otherwise, really excited for this, I’m a big fan of KH, played them all. Awesome we’ll be getting KHFM version too, I had doubts we’d get it, so its awesome the west can try out mysterious figure and all the other content we didnt have in KH compared to KHFM.

Glad you’re excited.
Yeah, no Vita version is planned, sorry, but I’ll certainly pass this and the rest of the feedback up the chain.

I forgot to add, mega excited to see the trophy list. If there’s a trophy for completing proud mode or beating Sephiroth then BRING IT!
I remember as a young un’ clearing the longest colloseum mode where you had to fight everyone from Cloud to Squall.

Will Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days be dubbed into German, French, or Spanish?
Posted on 26 February, 2013 at 11:13 am by Benjamin Bateman
Just English with French, German, Spanish and Italian subtitles.

when will this go up for pre-order from GAME, whats it’s pre-order bonuses and most importantly of all, SHUT THE HELL UP AND TAKE MY MONEY…once i get some money into my bank account after spending it on SimCity, seriously, you had me at “Coming to Europe” heck, anything exclusive to say sorry for not giving us RE: Chain of Memories in the first place? any vita releases? any 2.5 releases, hell, even a Complete Collection for Playstation 4?

No Japanese voices? Who made that decision? This game (or, these games…) are Japanese. And a Blu-ray Disc has enough space. So why not include both Japanese and English voices for this collection? That way, fans of either voice cast will be happy…
I thought that with the benefits Blu-ray brought to the table, we’d no longer have to worry about not having acces to Japanese voices. However, it seems like big-name titles like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts don’t want to satisfy people who are truly fans of Japanese voices in their Japanese games… such a shame!
Hopefully, it will change for the better when PlayStation 4 arrives…

Also, regarding Square-Enix games. One thing I would absolutely love to see are PS1 US import games on EU PSN (and run properly at 60Hz) that were never released here in Europe back in the days.
Games like Brave Fencer Musashi, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Legend of Mana, Threads of Fate, Valkyrie Profile and Xenogears.
And now that PS2 games are available on PSN, I would be very pleased if Musashi: Samurai Legend was released there too.

How ridiculous that it’s not coming for Vita to help prop it up, it’s like Sony wants it to die. Would’ve bought it so fast…

Here is what I don’t get, why is there no Japanese audio but there is a German and French one? I mean final mix II had the option for Japanese audio only in their theater mode.

@ Benjamin
Is it true that the final mix of Kingdom Hearts has an easy setting, something the original didn’t have?

Yeah, it’s something that I’m sure some people will welcome.

Hello,
Great news about Kingdom Hearts 1.5 really looking forward to it.
Do you know if we’ll ever see a digital release of Birth by Sleep on PSN?

If this was on vita I’d buy it instantly. If ps3 games were compatible with ps4 I’d prob buy straight off. But buying a title for a previous generation on a console that’s about to become previous generation. I dunno. Have to wait and see I guess.

Best NEWS in the world! I adore Kingdom Hearts and I’ve played nearly all the games. Played COM on the GBA and it was awesome, was always disappointed when Europe never got the PS2 version but now I can play it with trophies so all is forgiven. Also 358/2 days for me is my favourite story of any of the KH games so far so to get to watch that again in HD is awesome treat, especially for those who didn’t get to play it on DS.

Thanks for the reply Benjamin. And while I appreciate that you replied, I don’t get the fact that there is no real answer to the topic.
Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross have been among the most requested games for several years now. So you’d imagine that someone would manage find an answer after some time.
Financial reasons are questionable, as all that is asked for is just a PSOne US-Import.
What could that cost? It needs a PEGI/USK rating, right. I’m pretty sure that the sale numbers should be sufficient to cover that.
The only reason that I can imagine, besides someone being to lazy to transfer the game, is some license issue. Maybe due the re-release of Chrono Trigger on the DS?
In that case someone should be able to explain it. All is better than uncertainty and the impression that you’ll neither ever see the game nor receive a real answer.
P.S.
I could buy the games in the US store with my US account, but I wouldn’t be able to play it on my Vita then.
P.P.S.
Sorry that it was off topic, but considering how many requests had been ignored either via Twitter, Blog or elsewhere, you naturally use every little chance that you see.
Sad enough fact is that your reply was thus far the best.

going offtopic (sorry)
The US import section was pratically made for to let Square-Enix (and other companies ofc) put out the older games that never reached Europe (Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Mushashinden, Dragon Quest 7, etc, etc.)
I had to import them all to be able to play them. And some of the games are amongst the finest the gaming world has to offer (Xenogears especially). Wouldn’t it be fair to let the EU fans that missed thoose titles finally enjoy them? And I’m sure the demand would be really high. Just look at how well the Final Fantasy PSone classics sold. Haven’t they been top sellers for years now on PSN?

Can’t wait to replay this classic. I remember skipping school the day KH2 came out just to play it, this was the only time I ever skipped school for a game, thats how much KH meant to me. And while I’ll be getting this collection I am slightly annoyed with the fact we’ve gone an entire console generation and no KH3!!! But whatever I’m sure it’ll be worth it. Just hope you guys do a 2nd collection with KH2 and KH:BBS and KH:DDD.

Well my first comment didn’t get posted but it was through mobile.
Firstly Wow.
Secondly I’m glad this is only on PS3. Too many people that own a PS3 and wont be able to get a PS4 or simply dont want a PS4 (Like me) want this game.
It’s biggest sales would be on the PS3 not the PS4.
People are going on as if when the PS4 comes out the PS3 will stop having games be made. The PS2 only recently had games stop being made even if they did only have football and arcade style games for a long time.
We are getting this of course and then Quantic Dreams Beyond is also coming out on the PS3 and many many more….

I have been waiting for this announcement since HD remakes became popular. I was however waiting for another announcement (FFX) which was actually announced, but now we are hear nothing about it. I find it strange how KH was announced after FFX yet it will release first despite the FFX announcement being very well received.
But to get things back on track… YESSSSSS! KH
I’m so excited!

Im happy with the announcement! It’s my favorite franchise and I can’t wait! There is only one thing that I’m not happy with: Sony is dubbing the games in Greek for some time now, and I hoped that Disney will do the same for Kingdom hearts 1.5 for greece too…

This would be a no-brainer for Vita, but if I want to play it on a TV, I might just as well play the PS2 games.
I may end up buying it only if the price is VERY tempting. Still, I’m disappointed it’s not coming to Vita

Hello Benjamin,
The Japanese release of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMix includes the dual language option (Japanese and English audios). Was there a good reason for not including the same feature in the US and European release ?
I do like both tracks. So I personally prefer to go with the Japanese release in case the dual language option would be removed from the US one !!!!
