PS4 recap: PlayStation’s top game creators speak

This is going to be great. I’m also happy that there still are lots of PS3 games coming out this year to make the wait a tad bit easier.

The presentation created more questions that it answered;

Were games shown like Killzone Shadow fall actual PS4 game play or rendered video? Ubisoft have admitted that Watch Dogs was actually running on a PC, what else was actually running on a PS4?

EA didn’t show because they’ve signed an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. True or false?

Release date for Europe? If there’s a 5 month+ launch lag for the EU behind the US it’s over for Sony.

Preowned games… banned or not?

Digital download prices… still continue the rip off policy of the PS3?

I found the unveiling to be particularly disappointing. Sony will have a tough time convincing people to spend anymore that £300 on the PS4.

@2 used games will work they’ve said this along with stuff like cross game chat. Kill zone 4 was clearly in game. And watch dogs was probably running on a PC with the same specs as ps4… 300£ for a ps4 is wishful thinking they need to make a profit … And who cares about EA probably timed exclusive dlc trust me ea arent going to secure a exclusive game deal. But I could see ms being that desperate as to try and get a deal.

I have heard that some digitally released games on PS4 are going to have file sizes as big as 50GB, is this true? have you considered those who have download limits?

will it have a bluray player?

How exactly is Gaikai going to work? i cannot see it being free.

There is a rumour going round that you are planning to release 2 models is this true?

@5 Bluray has been confirmed, two models Mabey 120gb and 500gb who knows and
Basically from what I’ve gathered gaikai would be used to stream ps1,2,3 games as the console isn’t ps3/psn backwards compatible. Common how many games are 50gb on ps3 not Many so don’t worry to much about that.

Even tho I might not pick one straight due way too many games coming to ps3 you guys have made the ps4 sound really appealing! Great job. Oh and to everyone complaining that they didn’t show enough remember MS! Sony can’t show all they’re cards at once.

@8 ps3 games games run of the cell, the ps4 is more like a modern day pc, backwards compat would have them put a ps3 inside every ps4 so it ain’t go a happen so idunno maby keep your ps3.

These days a console needs to be about more than just games, rather the digital hub for the living room. If Sony have the brains to include dual terrestrial and dual satellite TV tuners along with full TV DVR/PVR TV recording functionality then my money is theirs.

The people want free multiplayer we can not pay for subscriptions we living in a tough era i cant pay electricity internet the water for food and pay multiplayer subscription for ps4 please just make it free like the ps3 that what the people want thank u.

@16: Get your priorities straight. If you can’t pay food or energy bills, you shouldn’t be getting a PS4.
But, online will be free, according to the rumors.

The Gaikai services won’t free, they create a cable tv model witn silver, gold and platinum subscription, but the online gaming wll be free thats for sure. A good move is Gaikai including witn plus, that what i want only for the ps4

@18 exactly, to be honest In my opinion I think gaikai has to have a subscription, running that service can’t be cheap. I don’t see them putting multiplayer behind a subscription it wouldn’t make sense. Maby there will be one paid service on ps4, gaika it could be part of your plus subscription seeing as current ps3/PSN games won’t work on ps4 I really can’t see any other way how plus would work

Its great to hear to hear that new Ps4 is comming and soon it will have its release but there are still issues with psn which troubles many players including me.

Will problems cornering uncooperative companies like NIS America will be solved and when dlc they release it gonna be released for “Whole” Europe not only for major countries.Their Blogs says that lack of language translations blocks them but as Translator i know its only their excuse to ignore us.WE just wanna support companies thanks to who we got games but NISA probably don’t want our MONEY

Please fix it or Punish them for ignoring us

The whole It’ll block used games was a rumour blowing way out of poportion by sites like joystiq, kotaku etc. Sony aren’t perfect but they’re not stupid either. Blocking used games would kill the console before its even released.

Sorry, you apparently were answering questions from above. I saw an almost identical post somewhere earlier, that was only complaints, but with just about the exact points you mentioned (demos running on PC, pre-owned games, EA, etc).

Just hope we can use the share function to export to external HDD. It would be perfect if it was allowed.
I also hope racing games will give us replay editors in game that we can then tell the system to share.

Why does the PS4 not support CDs?

Not only is this rumoured, but it is indirectly confirmed by Sony since the PS4 specs released only mention drive speeds for DVD and Blu-ray, not for CD

You might not like it but at the end of the day from one playstation fan to presumably another we need Sony to be making a profit on the ps4 a soon as possible considering they didn’t make a penny on the first 4 years of the ps3 life and I for one don’t want the playstation brand to end with ps4. So if age old tech gets the chop so be it.

@40 I highly doubt that cutting out CD playback cuts costs, and even if it does, probably by an extremely low amount? I mean all blu-ray players have CD playback

Ive been a PS supporter since PS1, but in my country CD sales of music far outweigh digital sales, since barely any providers are licenced to sell music digitally here in South Africa, even Sony doesnt sell music or movies digitally in SA, even though we have a South African PS Store which apart from Rockband and Guitar Hero songs, is identical to what you find on the UK store

Gaikai is the game stealer for Ps4.

The PlayStation 4 announcement from Sony brought us more games than I thought but for me Gaikai is totally outrageous making us buy already purchased PSN goods again as all PSN downloads are not backward compatibility for playstation 4.

All DLC for PS3 games are useless for PS4 PS3 games won’t download on PS4 Not BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY understand its meaning!

It would be awsome if you could help your friend online with your vita in some games (think like whats done in new super mario on wiiU with the vita) maybe ewen through remoteplay (the thing about taking over the controlls when your friend plays) remoteplay (through vita) features so that you dont need to own the game he/she plays but still could play with him/her.
