Defiance – PS Plus-exclusive beta and launch discount

wow. this was not on my radar. but with a beta and with 20%off im going to check it out.

any news on the playstation allstars dlc incentive for eu. Fred Dutton talked about it. said you will be announcing the EU incentive before the DLC launches. .. not many hours left eh

Is that price right+? why is it so low?

So where can I watch the tv show?

Sweet! I thought the beta may have been exclusive to users who signed up to Defiance’s site.

Gonna enjoy giving it a try. What size will the beta be I wonder? DC Universe took me 11-12 hours to download & install way back when.

Wow least I’d have it on PS+ as a back-up if my code fails to work. lol. Is Friday 22nd March the correct date or is it just for the PS+? My email code says “Wednesday, 20 Mar. (15:00 UTC) – Tuesday, 26 Mar. (04:00 UTC)”

Does that mean it will be on store for download starting from tomorrow the 20th but can only access the game starting from Friday or does the email version start earlier than the PS+?

I heard about the game and was a bit interested in it so its nice we get a discount and all that

though I already got a beta code that will only work in 2 hours from now (8 am PDT)
so I don’t really need the beta twice, unless the PS+ beta is different in any particular way

this could be a good way to pass time till Bioshock infinite, the April PS+ stuff and my birthday

Does the full game include ‘Dust 514′ like microtransactions? If not it will be a massive plus for it. The only issue for this type of game is they’re usually dead after three months.

Falcon1991, the beta client is about 6-7GB.

Thanks DKShadow, that really isn’t TOO bad. Seeing as Mass Effect 3 through Plus was 14GB.

@Razor_1981: The game is multiplayer only AFAIK, hence the less than full retail price.

Nothing for the Netherlands (and I can’t get Syfy and wouldn’t pay for it because it’s programming is crap).
So withouth the show this game is kind of worthless, right?

This does look interesting and I’ll be sure to try the beta.
Now I just need to remember the name of this game instead of just knowing as “the one that looks a bit like Borderlands”

the EU ps blog makes the US blog look like a joke… you guys do good work here… any chance you could train the US people… normally i wouldn’t say i’m one for outsourcing but the us bloggers should be fired and replaced with EU bloggers..

Also how much of an influence will the game and show have on each other and will we get the show the same time as the Americans? I still know very little about this game, and it worries me, Ive not seen any actual gameplay either o_o

@m4dDmUdD we in europe pay around 20% more for games usually than you do, i mean they just 1:1 the USD prices to EUR but its 20% more we have to pay for games here.

so its only fair we get better content in the EU

Why is this plus beta only lasting a few days, will beta continue minus plus users, or will servers/testing be finished on monday. have a 30trial c/o GoW_A, but was saving it till i needed it.. am tempted by this, esp considering tie in to SC-FI (syfy blah.) channel But don’t want to go through trouble of using plus trial, just for 3or4 days of play.. pre-ordered this today too, Game, but no info about e-mail invite, mind seeing the 20% discount i will probably opt for digital.
On a slightly related note, i noticed the Borderlands2 current price, and thought i would check retrade value on my disc.. they offered £12, (meh), But when i remarked i was thinking of buying it (back) on psn, the guy in Game said theres offer on atm, extra 20% towards psn credit, therefore my disc vers was worth £18, well pleased, took that, added two quid and got a 20pounds psn voucher, another easier accessible game to be added.. ie. just Hate swapping discs, lol.. plus it saves the laser/disc loader from wear n tear,, ok, am just a lazy so n so.
btw, guy in Game says offer ‘may’ be ending Very soon.

Any ETA on how soon PS3 preorders etc will be able to redeem our beta vouchers? I do hope we’ll be able to download the client BEFORE the beta goes live, right? Like they had a chance to in the US?

I can preorder Defiance from Shopto.net for £37.80 and that includes download content as a bonus. What bonus does the PS+ version offer for virtually the same price?

Any chance this will be up tonight or early tomorrow to download? don’t want to have to download it for hours then have it patch etc for even longer.

Relly nice update, i´m looking forward to the beta. Chris can we please get a big title sonn? For example Borderlands 2, or maybe a discount on the Black ops 2 season pass. Please don´t give us BO2 since most of us already has that game. Thanks love the updates.

It’s still cheaper on US PSN when you consider their “$10 off $50″ promo this month, still good to see the price gap between SCEE and SCEA is slowly starting to close though, but then again it’s taken 6 years to get to this point..

Opie, we actually do pay for the blog, only its indirect. We pay for it by giving money to Sony. This blog isn’t third party. The bloggers are employed by Sony and we give money to Sony. Your post therefore is both factually incorrect and irrelevant as pointed out there was only really one post about the misprice.

Ok im not here to argue,my post has obviously touched a nerve . And no we don’t pay for the blog . We pay Sony for the ps3 system / playstation plus. Now if Sony chooses to spend some of that money employing people to keep a blog maintained then that’s there choice.. They don’t HAVE to do it.YOu never guess what I bought a sofa just the other week and I can’t for the life of me find the manufacturers blog online …. Now THAT is buzzard .

Please can you guys sort out the EU Store so its like the US store?

The PS3 Add ons section is what im refering to in particular. The US store has the DLC arranged under each game and those games are in A-Z order so you find the game, click on it and you are then on that games page with all its DLC below it.

But we don’t have that on our store. The only thing we can select are things like ‘Map Packs’, ‘Extra Levels’ etc. But that is USELESS. Then all we can do is select ALL ADD ONS and then every single add on is listed in there THOUSANDS and when I select Sort>A-Z some of them are in alphabetical order of the games name and some in the actual DLC packs name so that is also USELESS!

PLEASE can you give us the same option we had with the old store and arrange all the DLC packs under the games so it will be so much simpler to use like it used to be? ie, I want to find a DLC pack for Street Fighter. I select PS3 Add ons > PS3 games A-Z > find Street Fighter > click on its game page and there is all its DLC.

PLEASE guys you have to do this for us? The US store has it so why cant ours?

They should tell PS+ users if the beta will be pushed to all users via the auto game download option under auto downloads as it would be better than having to do it manualy by going to the store…

playstation plus beta exclusive, cool defiance is there to download, but gives me error message when i keep trying to. so possibly 2 day beta trial. in fact why bother at all. for the love of jesus bring back the old ps store and get rid of this supposedly improved,slow and clunky garbage you replaced it with.cos 4 times today trying to get into the store it gave me the 3 beep lockdown freeze. and playstation is spanking new 500gb. hope you get it right with ps4.

and yes i know it starts on 22nd,but why is it there if it doesn’t work. shouldve left it til friday. right ive stopped crying about it. please bring back the old ps store, the new one is absolute ….. !!

cool it downloads now, just keep trying if it gives you error message. its about 7gb give or take. thanks guys at playstation. genuinely.

thanks for this, it seems to be a nice game i just played it. sadly it kinda crashed after about 20 minutes while at the ego powers , the game was still running but would not react to the controller anymore. i tried another controller, same. only ps menu and exit game worked still. game was a bit dark and it seems in begin you dont have the whole map for you (where is brighter parts i believe, or maybe there is a day/night circle i dont know). i will keep trying to unlock more of the map

Gotta say how much i enjoyed the ‘beta’, lol, just looked like a finished product.. only wish i was able to continue, as i was juggling this ds3s hardcore run and gow a. ds3 kinda won out, (time wise) though. anyway i know this is last weeks post but till theres a newer one i will say it here, Brilliant xp. and am 100% sold on a day1 buy, can see me spending many hours on this. Not very convinced i see much comparison with the few tv show adverts i’ve seen, though i guess that will work out too, eventually. now am going to see if maybe the servers are still working. few more hours i hope.
