UPDATE: Thanks for your responses this week – it was a really great spread of suggestions! The following five posters are victorious, and claim a download voucher for Puppeteer on PS3: HighflyerVII, Flyingmopdog, Alandrin, thatrademarc and Gincairn. Congratulations – we’ll deliver your code via a PM to your account on the official forums later this week.
ORIGINAL STORY: So, are any of the UK folk heading to Eurogamer Expo this weekend? I snuck in for a couple of hours this morning and raced around the indies. Volume, OlliOlli, Super Exploding Zoo (more on this one soon) and Fez on PS Vita all looked tantalisingly good, but my stand-out was Futurlab‘s dazzling shmup/platformer hybrid Velocity 2X.
The game’s predecessor was of course part of the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection earlier this year, and that presumably was a big factor in why there was such a buzz around the Futurlab booth, and the title in general. To me, this is what makes PS Plus such a great service – not the fact that it gives you loads of games to play every month, but that it puts the spotlight on phenomenal titles that might otherwise have been overlooked.
With that in mind, I’m interested to hear what your favourite PS Plus discovery has been – a game that you never would have played had it not popped up on the IGC. Velocity Ultra? Knytt Underground? New Little King’s Story? Stealth Inc? Let me know your choice below, and explain what it is about that game that really got you hooked.
As ever, we’ve got a prize for the five most thoughtful or entertaining responses: this week it’s a download voucher for top-drawer PS3 platformer Puppeteer. Good luck!
