Five weeks of free PlayStation Mobile games starts today!

Rymdkapsel

Hi everyone. Are you ready for the festive season? I have some good news for you: starting today for five weeks, we’re giving away two free PlayStation Mobile games every week.

Between 27th November and 18th December 2013, and from 8th January to 22nd January 2014, you can download two fantastic free titles to play on your PlayStation Certified smartphone or tablet, or on your PlayStation Vita.

We’ll refresh the two free games every Wednesday, so keep an eye on PlayStation Blog to find out which titles are included in our Festive Giveaway.

The first two games are available right now: Passing Time and Rymdkapsel

Passing Time

Passing Time is an all-new touch-controlled football game from the developer behind Frobisher Says! for PS Vita, and the upcoming Hohokum on PS4. Pass the ball and burn the opposition with a blistering fireball, prove your slow motion skills by mastering the rock ball and show off your one touch finesse with the explosive bomb ball.

Rymdkapsel is a relaxing, meditative strategy game set in the depths of space. It builds upon the legacy of Martins earlier games by requiring minimal user input, while needing highly strategic thinking to progress. You’re tasked with building the best possible space station by commanding your minions to collect and utilise the different resources at your disposal.

All you need is the PlayStation Mobile app installed on your smartphone or tablet. Click here to find out if your device is a PlayStation Certified device. If you don’t have the PlayStation Mobile app yet, you can download it now at no additional cost.

If you have a PS Vita, head over to PlayStation Store and tap the PlayStation Mobile tab to download your games now. Have fun!

Note: PlayStation Mobile is currently available in Japan, United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Australia, with more regions to follow.

Did you enjoy this?

Too bad PS Mobile isn’t available in the Netherlands right now, and when it becomes available, the promotion stops for 3 weeks…

    Mayumi Donovan 27 November, 2013 @ 2:24 pm

    Hi Jorispelgrom,
    Apologies.
We will do more promotions in the future you can enjoy.

Hi guys – sounds fantastic! Passing Time looks like fun and I’ve been after rymdkapsel for a while, so it’s all good for me!

Do have one question though: do they not appear on the web store? I’ve had a search and I can’t seem to find them…

AdamBogocz 27 November, 2013 @ 2:09 pm   3

Can ANYONE tell me why PS Mobile is not availiable in Czech Republic? I have Vita and Xperia SP and cannot download any of PS Mobile games… + I cannot even develop on that platform under my account

    Mayumi Donovan 27 November, 2013 @ 2:26 pm

    Hi AdamBrogocz,
PlayStation Mobile is not available in Czech at the moment.

We will let you know when we have more store open plans.

hoping that i can get one of the games on the 18/12, when psmobile comes to denmark.

any news on trophys for psmobile?

Weeeeeeee…. NO MOBILE SERVICE IN ZA! Weeeeeee…..

What about us who het the service on the 18th december?!Anyway we can download them?

    Mayumi Donovan 27 November, 2013 @ 2:43 pm

    Hikivi95

Sorry but you need to wait until PSM store launches.
There are two more weeks with promotion in January.

We will plan more promotions in the future to make sure all new store countries can participate.

Player42791 27 November, 2013 @ 2:14 pm   7

Would it not be better to run this promotion a bit later since ps mobile is expanding on the 18th?

AlucardDHK 27 November, 2013 @ 2:14 pm   8

Well, that’s good news for those countries where PSM is available. As for me :(

DoYouLikeMyID 27 November, 2013 @ 2:14 pm   9

“PlayStation Mobile is currently available in… with more regions to follow.”

No. No other regions will get PS Mobile. We’ve seen how the video store situation went and PS Mobile will be no different. The service has been out for over a year and no progress has been made whatsoever.

It’s sad really. There are some good games on PS Mobile, but Sony is really limiting the potential of the service by not rolling it out in more countries.

Serpantino 27 November, 2013 @ 2:16 pm   10

Thanks for this…. it doesn’t excuse the dropping of one ps3 game from plus or the not updating the yearly vita games because you don’t feel like it but it’s still a nice gesture.

jorispelgrom
1= benelux = have also psm from monday
2= wil see if fun games come in list then download
3= ps4 update 1.51 = life in belgium oficial sony site ( dutch )

Not heard of Passing Time but Rymdkapsel is excellent!
Thanks for this great game!

Ragnarok-NZ 27 November, 2013 @ 2:18 pm   13

And yet no one in the middle east (Saudi Arabia to be precise) will ever get in on these offers because we don’t have playstation mobile in our region…which sucks because we have the android play store, and we have access to all those games.

    Mayumi Donovan 27 November, 2013 @ 2:47 pm

    Hi Ragnarok-NZ

We are working on bringing PSM store to more countries.
We will let you know when we have details.

Hm, while Germany has the PSM store, I have never seen it on our webstore. I see neither a PSM tab nor does the store find “Rymdkapsel” via search function.

I instantly found both games on the PS Vita’s store though, so no problem. But if the webstore is supposed to show PSM content too, someone should fix that.

djax-djax 27 November, 2013 @ 2:25 pm   15

Not interested in this Android games sale, I would like to see new PS3 sale.

Silent_Gig 27 November, 2013 @ 2:29 pm   16

Great work as usual Mayumi

What about Playstation Mobile for Portugal? Is there any information when it will be released?

Thanks

VitalogyPJ 27 November, 2013 @ 2:52 pm   18

Yay they did it again, more freebies for PSM. It’s a good thing PSM is available in Portugal, oh wait…

Thanks for this – I got a couple from the last PSM give-away but can’t say anything really got me playing them.

Rymdkapsel on the other hand is a game I’ve been very interested in. Almost bought it on Android via the HumbleBundle.com a week or so ago but wanted it for the Vita rather than tablet.

Glad I held off now. Cheers guys

The same question about Poland. When?

thehappyworm 27 November, 2013 @ 3:11 pm   21

Happy to hear that PS Mobile games will soon be available in Ireland. I’d pretty much given up on that ever happening, to be honest! I’m especially looking forward to playing Super Crate Box on my Vita, but there seem to be lots of other good stuff in the Mobile program — Rymdkapsel and Passing Time being two fine examples.

Hey, why not announce the regional extension of PS Mobile here on the Playstation blog with a full blog post?

M3RL1NS_N3M3S1S 27 November, 2013 @ 3:43 pm   22

This would have been a great “welcome and sorry for the delay” for those only getting the service on the 18th. any chance you can add the games we’re missing out on to our regional stores on the 18th? otherwise this is a poorly timed promotion :(

@Mayumi Donovan

Please stop with “We will let you know when …” It’s the same like if you don’t answer. So, do or don’t you have any intention to bring PS mobile to other countries?

Nizar_Nemer 27 November, 2013 @ 3:58 pm   24

We have no PSM in the ME PSN. :(

ten-bucks 27 November, 2013 @ 4:24 pm   25

It would really pass the time for me playing on my high-end samsung galaxy phone but oh wait its not certified. THE BEST SELLING android phone and I cant use it. More negative news well done sony

always happy to have free games

Samir02982 27 November, 2013 @ 4:46 pm   27

Damn PS Mobile is not available in Saudi Arabia. So I am unlucky :( :( :( :( :(

Samir02982 27 November, 2013 @ 4:55 pm   28

Mayumi Donovan, Any chances of PS Mobile to come in Middle East?

stealth_finger 27 November, 2013 @ 5:34 pm   29

How do you get these? I have an xperia (UK), downloaded PlayStation app and registered but can’t find these. The relaxing space Tetris as eurogamer put it has piqued my interest.
I’m an Xbox guy and this is what’s brought me over but I can’t see anything about mobile games on the store.

DoYouLikeMyID 27 November, 2013 @ 5:45 pm   30

@Player42791 (#7)

Wait, what? Thank you so much for informing us (and with a link and everything). I take back my previous comment – Only figuratively of course, since this blog doesn’t have a “delete option”. Nonetheless, I admit I was wrong, and I’m actually really happy I was! :)

On a sidenote: Why has there not been a blog article about this? For an entire year we’ve been told by Scee: “When we get any information about expanding the service, we’ll tell you right here on the blog”. You should really get to making that blog-article then.

On a side-side note (is there such a thing?) Now I hope you expand the service to the remaining countries. A bigger market means more customers, more sales and thus more developers making games for the platform.

Good luck on expanding the service further! :D

I’m getting a Vita for Christmas. I currently don’t have any Andriod devices. Is there any way I can “purchase” these games so they are ready for me to download on Christmas Day?

Steve_Of_The_O 27 November, 2013 @ 9:08 pm   32

This is a great feebie. Thanks!! @pjz isn’t there a way to use android emulation on your pc? Google it! It might work… If not you could borrow someones phone or tablet each week and log in to purchase

Steve_Of_The_O 27 November, 2013 @ 9:13 pm   33

feebie? *Freebie. My typos are on top form tonight.

Now give us in Sweden access to the video store on our vitas and its a 100% product. Equall to American / Japanese vitas.

yes 6th december the netherlands get Mobile also.

but 4 years and still no videounlimited also not on PS4..
4 years of promisses every quarter

SHAME,SHAME,SHAME

WHO IS TO BLAME???

scott_meghan 27 November, 2013 @ 10:35 pm   36

Can we not purchase these on the webstore? I’m not getting my Vita until Christmas day, so if it is only available via the devices store then I guess I am out of luck

Jazzalinko 27 November, 2013 @ 11:48 pm   37

Is there any chance you can patch in Trophies for the mobile games, that would be great

Can someone explain how to use it on vita … i download update but it wont install.

theStoneSkull 28 November, 2013 @ 2:05 am   39

when you play a game, the ps mobile update will install

Anonyneko 28 November, 2013 @ 6:31 am   40

Rymdkapsel is awesome but who cares when PSM isn’t even available in most of the countries and, frankly, will never be?..

vik26061993 28 November, 2013 @ 8:18 am   41

>>>Rymdkapsel is awesome but who cares when PSM isn’t even available in most of the countries and, frankly, will never be?..

This 10 times.

You should have hold this promotion AFTER the territorial expansion… Glad we finally get PSM on 18th December, but where’s the blog post announcing that?

Sleurhutje 28 November, 2013 @ 10:47 am   43

Like @1 please add PSM for the Netherlands.

residentSteve 28 November, 2013 @ 10:31 pm   44

I can’t say I’ve ever heard of psm before they look like indie games think I will give them a miss.

gryffindor1028 4 December, 2013 @ 8:05 am   45

i wish you can have chimpact as a free game in any one of the remaining weeks. that would be awesome! thanks!

kylelfc-l 6 December, 2013 @ 1:25 pm   46

I really hate it when people hack cod levels… Especially on ghosts… ITS JUST FREEKING COME OUT… On MW1, I was doing well and was looking forward to WORKING my way up to top prestige, but then I entered some hacked level by mistake, played for roughly ten seconds because the round was almost over, didn’t get a SINGLE kill, then when the round finished my XP jumped up by about 12,485!!!!! People who hack games especially on ghosts irritate me emencely… OK, rant over
