Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter stomps onto PS3 next week

Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter was recently released in North America, and we have been more than happy to see the gamers’ response. Since then we have gathered tons of user feedback and made a lot of improvements to gameplay, tweaking and polishing the game balance. And now we’re excited to have the game out in Europe.

Carnivores HD is a realistic hunting simulator which brings you to beautiful islands and lets you hunt for the most dangerous creatures that have ever existed. You’ll get a chance to track down Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Ceratosaurus and a T-Rex! There are also flying Pteranodons, small and peaceful Gallimimuses and cute tiny Pelecanimimuses roaming around.

Each location is a different island about four square kilometers in size, and features a unique environment. There are deserts, jungles and deep forests. Each level comes in three variations: daytime, evening, and misty.

Being a hunting simulator, the game renders wildlife realistically. Animals make use of natural senses — sight, hearing, smell — that are unique to each creature. Dinosaurs behave differently depending on the environment, weather and their injuries, so a wounded dinosaur will either attack the hunter or try to run away. Animals also interact with each other: herbivores avoid carnivores, small species avoid big ones. Dinosaurs also forage for food, water, take rests, and wander around the world.

In your arsenal you will find a rifle, crossbow, revolver and sniper rifle. All weapons can be set to non-lethal tranquiliser mode to capture dinosaurs without killing them. If you’d rather just wander around observing the wildlife and enjoy the sights, there’s an Observer Mode designed specifically for exploration.

Also there is a multifunctional device called Gadget, which will aid your hunting experience being GPS, binoculars, radar and decoy altogether. This will help you to locate dinosaurs – don’t expect just to run and gun. Following a successful hunt, you can collect your trophies and display them in your very own Trophy Room.

The controls are accessible and familiar to anyone who has played an FPS before. The game gives you an option to choose from several controller presets and is fully compatible with PlayStation Move.

If you’ve been looking for a true-to-life hunting simulator then there is no need to look any further than Carnivores HD. Pack up your gear and embark on the adventure of a lifetime!

Make this super HD for PS4! I’d totally play a dinosaur hunting game on my new shiny piece of tech!

Wasn’t there a trailer a while back at E3 for a dinosaur game for PS4? Is the PS4 game a sequel to this?

    Hello VaVeTi,

please look for gameplay videos on YouTube by SOTHEYSAYY or ALIENDINOSAURHUNTER. Not to mention many others. But these two made so great job that we even contributed them in the credits for European PSN as well as in the patch for American PSN.

We also rebalanced the game to let everyone enjoy it even more. The prices for equipment were changed and now the learning curve is much smoother.

Also we slightly changed dinosaur’s behavior to allow novice hunters find them easier.

If you are looking for hunt simulator, please try Carnivores HD.

Seems like this would be perfect for PS Vita; Move the handheld to move around 360 degrees (etc); use the back-touch-pad to zoom in/out with a rifle and so on.

#2: that game is Primal Carnage: Genesis and it’s being developed for PC and PS4, with the latter being a timed exclusive.

What will be the price for this? Also will it be digital only?

    Artem Kuryavchenko 10 December, 2013 @ 6:20 pm

    Hello MaxDiehard,

thanks for your interest to our game.

Price for the title would be 9.99 euro, digital download only.

Thanks for the quick response.

When you say we can use the Move, will it have a setup for use with the Move Sharpshooter? I need more games that make use of it, and I want this to be one of them.

    Hello MaxDiehard,

Our game has full PlayStation Move support. Both Motion and Navigation controllers are supported. Unfortunately we do not have Move Sharp Shooter in the studio, but I think it is safe to assume that it will work with 0 problems.

@Lance_87
Ah thanks for the reply. Couldn’t remember the name of it and thought it was some kind of sequel to this seeing both have dinosaurs. lol

I watched some gameplay of this today as you mentioned in your reply to comment three. Looking pretty good and interesting. Looks to be my kind of game so keeping my eye on this some more. :D I love dinosaurs!!!!! Can’t even get enough of Jurassic park. When you say to MaxDiehard it is 9.99 euro, do you have an estimate what that is in British pounds?

    Artem Kuryavchenko 11 December, 2013 @ 10:36 am

    Hello dark_angel69,

thanks for your interest to our game.

9.99 Euro equals to 8.37 British Pound Sterling at the moment. So the price should be roughly around that number.

Can you make a ps vita version?

Excited for this one! Played the classics a lot and this HD remake looks spot on

Finally guys. You hinted me about something like this in YouTube comments almost 2 years ago. I’m glad that wasn’t just wishful thinking. Played a lot of the minis, but obviously they were pretty flawed because of the limitations (oh the controls!) – now with this game I can relive good old memoried of Carnivores 2 I loved on PC :]
