UPDATE: The four newest Nismo Athletes, the winners of Nissan PlayStation GT Academy 2013, along with inaugural winner Lucas Ordonez, stormed to the SP2 class victory at the Dubai 24 Hours this weekend. This is the first Dubai 24 Hours victory for GT Academy winners.
Dubai was the first international race for European winner Miguel Faisca, German winner Florian Strauss, US winner Nick McMillen and Russian winner Stanislav Aksenov. These stellar Gran Turismo 6 gamers have made the switch from the virtual world to reality, only moving from racing on PlayStation 3 to racing for real three months ago, so to bring the No.123 Nissan 370Z Nismo across the line first after 24 hours of racing was an incredible achievement.
Our congratulations go out to all racers. For more from the event, head on over to our Flickr page.

ORIGINAL POST: Hello Gran Turismo fans. This is a big week for the GT Academy competition – the innovative driver development programme that PlayStation runs in conjunction with our partner Nissan.
The 2014 Dubai 24 hour race which starts today will see an international race driver line up that heavily features a very special breed of race car driver who all originally started their racing careers in the most unusual of ways – on their PS3s.

Taking their place on the starting grid in two 370Z Nismos will be seven winners of GT Academy events from across the globe including Europe, the Middle East and South Africa.
The international flavour of the line-up reflects the desire that GT Academy will continue to spread across the globe and possibly hints at what we can expect to see in the next forthcoming season.
News on how our drivers fared will be posted here on PlayStation Blog and also stay tuned for news on the next incredible season of GT Academy – more details will be revealed very soon.
