The Weekend Debate

UPDATE: Some lovely suggestions here. Before I head off to iTunes/YouTube, here are the winners of the OlliOlli PS Vita codes: extatix, Ikari_86, MrLonghair, DJOates and MckConor. Congratulations – we’ll be in touch later this week via a PM to your ID on the official forums.
ORIGINAL POST: So, another week has passed where my gaming time has been hijacked by the wonderful OlliOlli on PS Vita. I’m still terrible at it, of course, but I’ve come to terms with my innate uselessness now, which freed me up to enjoy some of the game’s more subtle, sophisticated touches.
One thing that’s really stood out for me is its soundtrack. I’ll admit my ears never really took to the punk and hardcore stylings of the old Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games, but OlliOlli’s slick, jazzy beats are a perfect fit for the game’s stylish retro-fabulous visuals, especially when combined with the clanking of wheels on rails, and the crunch of skull on pavement. It’s an unexpected design choice that really adds another layer of cool to what is already a very hip little package.

What about you? Do you take much notice of a game’s music? How important is the soundtrack to a game’s success?
Sound off below, and please feel free to suggest a few of your favourites.
The prize this week for the five most thoughtful responses is, fittingly, a download code for OlliOlli on PS Vita. Good luck!
