The Evil Within release date confirmed for PS3 and PS4

Plus, box art revealed, and a special Valentine’s card from Shinji Mikami and the gang

You’re going to be happy your PS4 controller can double as a night light. That light will serve as a small comfort as you play through the latest survival horror game from the genre’s most iconic game director, the legendary Shinji Mikami. Today we’re happy to announce that The Evil Within arrives on both PS4 and PS3 on Friday, 29th August.

Developed by the talented team at Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within embodies the meaning of pure survival horror. Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story are combined to create an immersive world that will bring you to the height of tension. With limited resources at your disposal, you’ll fight for survival and experience profound fear in this perfect blend of horror and action.

While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.

We’ll have much more on the game in the coming weeks and months. Until then, we leave you with the game’s official pack art. Sleep tight!

The picture in the banner looks like concept art for resident evil 4.

i really really hope this is as good as re4 . or like the remake of the first re on gamecube… man that was a cracker and soo scary :)
And it would be nice to play a REAL survivor horror game again its been way to long since dead space 1.

This is great news that it’s coming so soon but will there be any dumb preorder bonuses? I was going to preorder right now but I don’t want to miss out on any disc locked content by choosing the wrong retailer!

We do not have any planned retailer-specific in-game content for The Evil Within.

Unlike a lot of people I moved on from re4, but this game reminds me to much of it.

I wonder how long it will be until capcom unveils re7.

Not a fan of horror but this is on my radar. Looks really AAA for a Japanese game and looks a lot like the modern RE’s. In graphics like these I don’t mind crawling through dirty places :p

Re4 was a lifesaver for me, got me back into gaming when i stalled, hoping for similar outcome here, got a hunch i will enjoy it whatever though, roll on August 29 .

Looks like the date when I buy my PS4, unless Witcher 3 comes out first of course.

Somebody from Bethesda making a post on the PS blog on the dawn of the new generation about anything else but Fallout? Oh man, you must be oblivious of which is the only game people are craving from Bethesda.

On a serious note, The Evil Within will bomb, not enough fans of the genre. I just hope it breaks even.

On a more serious note, c’mon Bethesda, just give us some Fallout news.

whats the whole point in telling us about this game already its not like its comming out anytime soon. its got like half a year be4 its released. when are us going to put a post up about the games comming up next month like the crew and that so we no wat u can acutely do on the games and see if they are worth buying thanks
