inFAMOUS Second Son launches on PlayStation Store at midnight

Pick up the game from PlayStation Store tonight and be the first to play

So, the wait is finally over. A little over a year after its unveiling at the PS4 announcement event in New York, inFAMOUS Second Son arrives in stores tomorrow. And today we’re happy to confirm that those of you planning to purchase the game digitally will be able to do so from midnight tonight.

And just to recap, there are two options for a digital purchase: the standard version including just the game itself (€59.99/£49.99/AU$79.95), and the Legacy Edition, which includes the Cole’s Legacy expansion, four in-game jackets for Delsin to wear, and an additional jacket that unlocks when you complete Cole’s Legacy (€69.99/£62.99/AU$104.95).

I3loodthirsty 20 March, 2014 @ 1:06 pm   2

£62,99 for the legendary pfft, Im glad i pre ordered the game on the us store a couple of weeks ago which works out at about £36 and I get a free upgrade to legendary.

Zealous_Zebra 20 March, 2014 @ 1:09 pm   3

AWESOME!!! can you play while it downloads ?

    Fred Dutton 20 March, 2014 @ 2:24 pm

You’ll be able to start playing after a portion of the game has downloaded.

Porcupeth00 20 March, 2014 @ 1:09 pm   4

Not sure if i’m asking the right place but are today’s reviews gonna include info about the content in Cole’s Legacy DLC? I’m getting the game for sure but between the standard and legendary edition the choice will depend on whether that DLC is substantial or not

Is it also live at midnight in Denmark?

DragonsBlood101 20 March, 2014 @ 1:11 pm   6

@I3loodthirsty i know it’s such a ripoff uk basically pays 1.5x as much as us

DragonsBlood101 20 March, 2014 @ 1:12 pm   7

US i mean

whats the digital price?

I3loodthirsty 20 March, 2014 @ 1:12 pm   9

@Zealous_Zebra apparently you can start playing after 5 gig has downloaded, its what iv heard anyway

DragonsBlood101 20 March, 2014 @ 1:13 pm   10

whoops meant to say USA

Zitalik 20 March, 2014 @ 1:13 pm   11

my bad

WaterElemental 20 March, 2014 @ 1:14 pm   12

Iv’e was wondering, I pre-ordered the PS4 InFamous- SS bundle back in January and was curious as to whether the game disc is inside or its a download code?

my-kal_UK 20 March, 2014 @ 1:15 pm   13

I agree with Porcupeth00, I want a bit of information on Cole’s Legacy… I mean, who would pay £12 for 4 skins and (potentially) 20 minutes of additional gameplay?

Even if you are an Infamous fan…

I3loodthirsty 20 March, 2014 @ 1:16 pm   14

@DragonsBlood101 yup its getting a joke n not a funny joke, I think in future any big games I ll go to scea and buy from them as it will always work out cheaper.

The average US minimum wage is $7.50 (approx £4.50 wheres in the uk its nearly £6) and we have to pay VAT they dont so thats why its cheaper. prices match the cost of living

Cipe317 20 March, 2014 @ 1:24 pm   16

Does the midnight launch include Germany?

scally6 20 March, 2014 @ 1:32 pm   17

Fred the price on the web store is 52.99 not 49.99

TokyoMek 20 March, 2014 @ 1:32 pm   18

I have mine already :)

Released one day early in South Africa for online stores as tomorrow is a public holiday here and couriers for the respective stores are not delivering tomorrow! Score!

TokyoMek 20 March, 2014 @ 1:33 pm   19

Oh sorry, just to add, the digital prices are ridiculous. I paid £43 for mine.

the legendary pricing is ridiculous considering we dont even get a beanie. but the standard edition is ok, just do what i’ve been doing for years. get a £25 psn voucher online for £20. that way it costs £40 cheaper than retail which is £45.

legendary edition should really be £60

“Midnight tonight” as in what time zone? All Europe countries can purchase and download it at Australia midnight?

    Fred Dutton 20 March, 2014 @ 2:26 pm

Midnight in your region – so it should be arriving in Australia round about now, for example.

fmykdisbad 20 March, 2014 @ 1:42 pm   22

why is it double the price compared to US? you all who are responsible and taking part in this should go to prison for this currency exchange scam.

fmykdisbad 20 March, 2014 @ 1:43 pm   23

|iky_g if prices match the cost of living do students get it cheaper compared to business owner/rich people ?? your logic is dumb

fmykdisbad 20 March, 2014 @ 1:44 pm   24

anyway for once an info about a pre-order here in the blog, should this blog become useful all of a sudden ? :D nice.

the logic is not dumb thats how things are priced and they take the average wage of a country as a whole not a minority such students or rich people

link1983 20 March, 2014 @ 1:47 pm   29

Finally! I am happy with the £62.99 :D

fmykdisbad 20 March, 2014 @ 1:50 pm   30

iky_g its seriously dumb to not say (CENSORED) because also sometimes uk pays 10€ less than rest of europe, this is breaking EU LAWS and anyone taking part in this at sony should face legal consequences and get fired, sony CEOs probably dont even know how we eurpeans get threated like (CENSORED) by sony

fmykdisbad 20 March, 2014 @ 1:51 pm   31

WATCH OUT!!!!
This game is significantly censored in all EU countries!
If you buy this game be warned that you don’t get the full experience as was envisioned by it’s creators.

    Fred Dutton 20 March, 2014 @ 2:32 pm

That’s not the case. The game is exactly the same in all regions.

thats only sometimes happens and rarely happens with first party studios. 3rd parties are out of sonys control

I3loodthirsty 20 March, 2014 @ 1:57 pm   34

@OttoT how is it significantly censored in the eu?

scally6 20 March, 2014 @ 2:02 pm   35

@iky_g where do you £25 psn cards for £20 from, come on spread the wealth!!

@link1983
Really? You can get collector’s edition on Amazon for less than £60, including the dlc and other stuff. I
really wanted to go fully digital with ps4, but Sony’s digital pricing is making that pretty difficult!

cdkeys.com enjoy :D 5% if you like their facebook they sell pc games cheap too :P

5% off that is

Zealous_Zebra 20 March, 2014 @ 2:06 pm   39

Guys chill, lets face it its going to be an insane game no matter how much you pay for it !!!!

scally6 20 March, 2014 @ 2:06 pm   40

Cheers iky_g :-)

@zealous_zebra True dat, cant wait for my 3rd platinum in the series

I3loodthirsty 20 March, 2014 @ 2:10 pm   42

@zealous_zebra yes true THAT ;) game will be amazing :D

TheMichaelKC 20 March, 2014 @ 2:13 pm   43

£35-40 digital price would’ve been the better price, not just for the consumers but also Sony by getting more people using PSN as a home for their content. Until this happens, I’ll continue to buy hard copies so I can trade for any new games I get.

UK_Rocklance 20 March, 2014 @ 2:15 pm   44

It’s already up on Australia’s PSN store. So I guess this is midnight in local time, whatever the timezone may be?

will556 20 March, 2014 @ 2:16 pm   45

You say it will be £49.99 but the banner on the store page says from £52.99. Which is true?

UK_Rocklance 20 March, 2014 @ 2:23 pm   46

You guys will be even more upset if you know how much it costs in Asia PSN store:

“Action-adventure PS4™ game “inFAMOUS Second Son” (English ver./ Chinese ver.) is coming to PS Store on 21st March (HK$350@PS Store)! [...] If you purchase “inFAMOUS Second Son” on or before 3rd April, early purchase bonus will be given to you including 5 vests for Delsin and an additional scenario add-on “Cole’s Legacy” which reveals the story between “inFAMOUS 2” and “inFAMOUS Second Son”. And if you are a PlayStation®Plus member, you will further enjoy 10% discount for purchasing the game on or before 3rd April.”

So PS Plus members are getting it at HK$315 (Hong Kong dollar), which is £24.60 or €29.48 or US$40.57.

Sigh.

I expect to pay more than our global ps colleagues, just a bit miffed that lots of other areas are getting the dlc thrown in for free and we are expected to shell out the price of an indie game for it!

Game is already being sold in stores in the Netherlands for about 55-60 euro. Guess you ‘re not only paying way too much when buying on PSN but you also aren’t the first to play.

robsammons 20 March, 2014 @ 2:44 pm   49

£13 for 1 hour DLC that others get for free?!

MaxDiehard 20 March, 2014 @ 2:48 pm   50

Picking up my physical Special Edition tomorrow. At least I get the DLC and a real Beanie. Unlike the overpriced digital version.
