New on PlayStation Store: Child of Light, Daylight, Demon Gaze, more

Plus, Ragnarok Odyssey ACE, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and new discounts

Ubisoft brings its water-coloured RPG Child of Light to PS Store this week. Reclaim the light of the Sun, the Moon and the Stars stolen by The Black Queen, and restore the kingdom of Lemuria.

Sticking with all things light-ish, there’s also thriller game Daylight on PS4. Trapped in an abandoned hospital, it’s your job to make escape the procedurally generated world, wondering what possible things lurk in the dark. Oh, are you’re only armed with your phone – what would life be like without our phones! Grab Daylight early to take advantage of a special launch price.

Also out this week, dungeon crawler Demon Gaze on PS Vita, the expanded RPG Ragnarok Odyssey ACE, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and a content refresh for PS Plus with some very fun titles to check out.

Aside from new games, there’s a new Deal of the Week in the form of Persona 4 Golden. If you own a Vita and haven’t played this yet then you should certainly rectify that situation. Furthermore, there’s also Luftrausers and South Park: The Stick of Truth to be snapped up, as well as a slew of Ubisoft titles and various pieces of Star Wars content, because the ever important May 4th is near us.

Finally, depending on your region we’ve also opened up alternate payment methods for our PS4 users. Find out more by clicking through below:

    Vashetti 30 April, 2014 @ 2:48 pm

Where did you pull those figures from?

Estimates put the PS3 at 80 million sold, and the Vita around 7.5 million.

    BluSpykz 30 April, 2014 @ 2:55 pm

That’s a very wild statement Killer.
Vashetti is “right” with estimates putting PS3 at 80m etc.

    BluSpykz 30 April, 2014 @ 2:58 pm

Oh. Pretty disappointed with Silent Hill. When I read it was coming to PS Vita – I didn’t realise it meant “as a PSP classic…” –

Or is it? Because neither game is showing compatibility with PS Vita?

Nice update I’ll be getting Demon Gazxe and Ragnorak Odyssey Ace at some point!

Does Sly Cooper stay in IGC?

    supersmith2500 30 April, 2014 @ 2:51 pm

Yes for about couple of months so you have plenty of time to grab it. It’s an awesome game and has cross-buy.

dylanwiggan 30 April, 2014 @ 2:37 pm   4

will the sly trilogy vita trophies ever be turned on? No one is answering this question, I cant sync them to psn and add them to my trophy level.

    AlexAtkinUK 30 April, 2014 @ 3:13 pm

@4.1 Great idea. Lets get rid of the only thing that allows me to compete with my friends on a single-player game and has absolutely not detrimental effect on anyone who doesn’t care about them.

While they are at it they can get rid of all FPS online play because “I personally” do not like those games and them existing is clearly detrimental to my enjoyment of other games.

My only real problem with trophies/achievements is when I buy an older game that has online ones that are impossible to get because nobody is playing the game any more. It would be better if they were split into online/offline so you are not locked out of the completion platinum just because you cannot do the online, a platinum for each group instead.

Another week, another Xbox troll trying to cause a stir in the blog comments.

And finally, thanks for getting the Star Wars Force Unleashed DLC on sale, it’s been years since that content was put on the store!

Luftrausers is an amazing game I’d wholly recommend it if you have a Vita. Looking forward to Child Of Light!

Tried hard to stay patient, but enough is enough, where on earth is the mega patch and new tables for “Pinball Arcade” the patch has been out in the US for over a month now, I’ve bought every table released for this game so far and I’m deeply unhappy with the total lack of care being shown to customers in the UK/Europe who have supported this game, simply not good enough.

    AlexAtkinUK 30 April, 2014 @ 3:15 pm

Plus the fix for the incorrect crap mobile audio on the PS4 version.

Vashetti 30 April, 2014 @ 2:56 pm   19

Hey Jawad, any updates on Mercenary Kings (PS4) patches for us in the EU? We’re on version 1.01 and the US is on version 1.03. The game is very, very glitchy.

Also any updates on Netflix for Vita in the EU?

    Jawad Ashraf 30 April, 2014 @ 3:18 pm

Game patches come through separately so I wouldn’t know. It’s likely it’s going through QA/Cert for EU but don’t take my word on that.

    No update on Netflix, sorry.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on Netflix. The app itself was compatible from day one (if you get it from the US store then revert your profile back to UK) so the only answer must be they just don’t care to release it for us.

BluSpykz 30 April, 2014 @ 2:58 pm   20

Oh. Pretty disappointed with Silent Hill. When I read it was coming to PS Vita – I didn’t realise it meant “as a PSP classic…” –

Or is it? Because neither game is showing compatibility with PS Vita?

    Jawad Ashraf 30 April, 2014 @ 3:19 pm

    PSP only.

    waggy44 30 April, 2014 @ 4:12 pm

This is very annoying as the press release from Konami specifically said, coming to Vita. Was really looking forward to playing these on my flight to Sydney tomorrow.

I thought the same thing too. What a buzz kill man, i was really looking forward to these coming to the Vita as proper Vita ports.

    Ragnarok-NZ 30 April, 2014 @ 11:42 pm

This is ridiculous. Konami goes around stating both games will be released for PSP and Vita and with no explanation release the games for PSP only. Isn’t the first time Konami has screwed over Silent Hill fans – I’m looking at you SH HD collection…

    Ragnarok-NZ 30 April, 2014 @ 11:43 pm

I even bought both games again (had them originally on UMD for PSP) just so I could play them on Vita when I noticed they didnt show up on my Vita download list. Seriously, low move on Konami’s part…

Sora9669 30 April, 2014 @ 2:58 pm   21

Can we please have PSOne Classics of FINAL FANTASY ORIGINS and FINAL FANTASY IV? Would love to have them on my PS3.

Eldave0-UK 30 April, 2014 @ 3:00 pm   22

Any news on if there is a PS4 demo for Child of Light? Can’t really justify buying the full game until June but would love to try it out, thanks!

    medenko1975 30 April, 2014 @ 3:04 pm

    tried US store?

    Eldave0-UK 30 April, 2014 @ 3:17 pm

How do I go about doing that? Do I have to create a US account?

    Jawad Ashraf 30 April, 2014 @ 3:20 pm

Not at the moment for EU.

    AlexAtkinUK 30 April, 2014 @ 3:22 pm

Agreed. I’m hugely disappointed in the lack of trials/demos on PS4 as I refuse to buy any game I cannot try out first after being burned on a few PSN titles on PS3 that I hated. I have hundreds of games from Xbox Live Arcade purely down to the fact they all had trial versions so you are potentially losing a lot of money by not doing this.

    link1983 30 April, 2014 @ 3:58 pm

Please find a way to get the 11.99 together. It is fantastic. I pre-ordered my copy from game and it arrived this morning. What I have played I have liked.

Is there any reasoning behind “no demo for Europe”? We would like to know, if so. For me and in this case, no demo = no buy, too.

    scott_meghan 1 May, 2014 @ 4:51 am

Yeah where are the demos? I think there are 4 total. NBA, FIFA, Lego Movie & Lego Marvel

aussiedude08 30 April, 2014 @ 3:01 pm   23

no MLB the show 14 pre-order for PS4? well ill be taking my money to the US store.

    scott_meghan 1 May, 2014 @ 4:51 am

do we know any pricing as yet for the digital version?

PintSized1994 30 April, 2014 @ 3:02 pm   24

Hi,
Is there any update on release date of Borderlands 2 for Vita in Europe?
Thanks :-)

vectormatic 30 April, 2014 @ 3:11 pm   25

I’m very happy with the star wars deals, i saw TFU for PSP being on sale in the US and i was dissapointed to see it not being announced in the Ubisoft sale.

I’ll snag TFU as soon as the store updates, and probably get BF2 as well.

Bacon_Crispies 30 April, 2014 @ 3:13 pm   26

Why is Child of Light £11.99 on PS4 but £12.79 on the PS3, both include the PS3 and PS4 versions, they are identical, are they not?

croze343 30 April, 2014 @ 3:15 pm   27

Someone please explain why demon gaze is now the most expensive game on vita. $58.95 !? Can we expect to see more of this trend to encourage physical copies of titles by overcharging digitally. I have no idea why Sony and nis of all copies would do this to there fans.

BartsBlue 30 April, 2014 @ 3:18 pm   28

Nice discounts, thanks! I’ll be snagging Persona 4 Golden and Luftrausers later today.

I promised myself not to spend more money on PSN games until I finish my backlog, but it’s too tempting!

Ares_tm 30 April, 2014 @ 3:19 pm   29

Nice Store Update, but I’m a little disappointed.
Why is there since months a discount and now a price drop of Metal Gear Rising, but the DLCs are always at the same price. We EU PS3 players are the only region, where we can pay for the DLCs.
Even on XBox there was a discount of the DLCs, before they went free in the whole world (except EU).

Artemisthemp 30 April, 2014 @ 3:21 pm   30

I guess the Ace of Souls costume for Soul Sacrifice will be released in EU next week

It’s now 2 weeks waiting for content that I PURCHASED in 2012 that was removed from my download list to be returned to it (re: Sly Trilogy). This is NOT acceptable in any way, shape or form. Not only that, but by law when someone contacts your lousy customer service and requests to speak to a supervisor, you are obliged to comply. Removing the content from ones download list is in direct violation of European law and a violation of UK consumer protection laws and digital content is included within goods and/or services. .

I purchased the content on 14/03/2012 and I want my content I purchased. It’s simple, sick of excuses, sick of your lousy customer service, sick of hearing about some fictional upstairs or head office that effectively means Sony can shirk their responsibilities to the consumer. I want what I purchased and I want it now.

I have purchased loads of items from PSN since Nov 2010 and I’m done. I won’t be purchasing anything else from you ever. I hope you are pleased that losing a customer who has spent £1,000′s on content, consoles and portables is done. SCEE will never see another £ from me ever again. This is ultimately what SCEE wants, to lose customers, to anger their customer base, and fob off said consumers…well done you are a raging success as a failure.

    Flying_Pig 30 April, 2014 @ 3:43 pm

    Why the angst?

I’m pretty sure SCEE don’t want to anger their customers and lose them…

    medenko1975 30 April, 2014 @ 3:45 pm

    did you phoned SONY help?

    Jawad Ashraf 30 April, 2014 @ 3:51 pm

Check your download list – Sly should be visible. Consumer services will be in touch shortly.

    link1983 30 April, 2014 @ 3:59 pm

Dude, Calm down, I bought the Sly Trilogy way back when too but the trilogy has appeared in my list so no games have been lost. I haven’t downloaded them but I am wondering if the mini games are now included?

    ElfMageBex 30 April, 2014 @ 4:07 pm

i had the same problem with dlc my rockband dlc is asking me to rebuy it

6 times I have called customer services, 3 of those times on hold for 15, 10 and 12 minutes respectively without even getting to speak to a person. It’s very simple when a customer calls and has a complaint or a problem with purchased content and asks to speak to a supervisor on both the 2nd and 3rd call that actually got through to customer service, then a supervisor should return my call. It’s that simple.

Deciding to reinstate it 2 weeks later to my download list isn’t good enough, what about the 2 weeks I was denied access to content I purchased? Content that had been in my download list for a couple of years and then arbitrarily removed. It should never have been removed in the first place, why is this so difficult to understand?

The naff excuse, the last customer representative gave has only inflamed the situation, really ghost in the machine…huh? What is the IQ level of the people working customer service? The computer didn’t remove the content, someone at Sony did and they made a mistake and instead of fixing the issue early on, they gave excuse after excuse and refuse to even acknowledge that someone made an error. An error that negatively impacted their customers.

This is why I am angry,

If the error had been fixed in the first few days when the error was blatantly obvious to the first customer service person I spoke to then it would have been ok. 2 weeks after the fact is not, there is absolutely no denying that customer service is feckless and incompetent. This also in no way actually gives the consumer any confidence in purchasing content from SCEE as it can be removed at any time. I would have more fun nailing my money to a board and just burning it as opposed to trusting SCEE to supply me the content I have already purchased when I want I to re-download it.

and customer service calling me back, yeah I’ll believe it when it happens. I don’t want to speak to customer service I want to speak to a supervisor.

Thank you Jawad for having customer services call me, interesting that it took a female to actually note I wanted to speak to a supervisor. Seemingly the last few calls I made the male customer service personnel were incapable of actually being able to note and authorise a supervisor to return the call.

Issues with download list and people using a search function of the store to search for purchased content as trying to find anything on the list is painstaking at best. The problem with using the search option is whenever you add a newer version of a game or switch it from trial and unlock etc is that the store wants people to purchase the content again. This should never happen as you have a tech team that should test content before it goes live. If they are doing that, they aren’t doing it very well and you might want to consider employing more capable people.

How can you actually guarantee people will get and keep content they purchased, without the hassle of having to wait for someone to discover and fix the issue when it disappears? The simple fact remains it should never happen. The store issues happen with such consistency that mistakes and errors are the norm and not the exception. Forcing people to troll through all content, horrible avatars, dlc that doesn’t state the game it comes from is a mess and a deterrent to actually purchasing content. 52 card pick-up was funny when I was 4, roaming through the hoarder next door pile of stuff for content at my age isn’t.

Any chance of borderlands 2 head hunter pack 5?

mojavehotwax 30 April, 2014 @ 3:26 pm   33

Soul Sacrifice DLC – where’s the Ace of Souls set (Soul Sacrifice x Ragnarok Odyssey Ace)?

dragnierkira 30 April, 2014 @ 3:34 pm   34

Why is the Star Wars sale only specific to certain regions and not available in South Africa?

Any reason?

    Jawad Ashraf 30 April, 2014 @ 3:40 pm

The content is marked as being available in select territories only, and unfortunately in many cases that rules out South Africa.

    medenko1975 30 April, 2014 @ 3:57 pm

make UK account, download, play on your RSA account?

    dragnierkira 30 April, 2014 @ 4:09 pm

Thanks for the reply but why exactly?
Does that mean RSA will never see some of these content.

eddibhoy 30 April, 2014 @ 3:36 pm   35

Will you be making more psp and ps1 games vita compatible? There are loads on other regional stores that don’t work here or have never been released.

Troll alert, just ignore them don’t feed the troll :)

dragnierkira 30 April, 2014 @ 3:38 pm   37

Why is the Star Wars sale only available in certain regions and not in my country South Africa.

Any Reason why?

Kezabien2 30 April, 2014 @ 3:40 pm   38

When will the Silent Hill games be released for Vita? The store says PSP only at the moment. Are we getting HD remasters with trophies (pretty please!) ?

This was answered above and sadly there PSP only, i know i’m gutted too!

Lance_87 30 April, 2014 @ 3:41 pm   39

Hi Jawad, do you know when/if Raiden IV Overkill for PS3 will ever be relased here in Europe?

Shumps aren’t really big in EU, did we ever get Mamorukun Curse? There is only a few bullet hell games I can think of that are even on EU psn like the trilogy that includes Gundeadligne and maybe Cho Aniki but that’s uh something else entirely.

    Lance_87 30 April, 2014 @ 6:36 pm

Heh, the situation was a little better back in the PS2 era. We even got Raiden 3 and, although mutilated, both Shikigami no Shiro games. Looks like i’ll have to stick with the Taito Type X version, without the extra stuff :/

I really like bullet hell games myself although I’m not very good at them. Only on that other console did you get a more shumps like Deathsmiles, Ikaruga and there were some good ones in community games. There’s Under Defeat but that reminds me more of old NES games that had a helicopter bombing stuff not exactly the same. Shame as they don’t seem hard to code and are pretty inexpensive to make.

madmanwithabox12 30 April, 2014 @ 3:47 pm   40

Where’s Silent Hill in the Vita store? They were announced as Vita compatible when Konami revealed them… <__<

Ryan191991 30 April, 2014 @ 3:47 pm   41

Hey Jawad,

Any chance Watch_Dogs will go up on the PSN store for digital preorder on PS4? Especially now that the PS4 supports pre-loading.

Also, perhaps in the next blog update there should be a way to report comments.

    Ryan191991 30 April, 2014 @ 3:49 pm

I see the report button now, wasn’t showing when I submitted my comment.

dark_angel69 30 April, 2014 @ 3:53 pm   42

Oh wow a Call Of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer demo. They must be desperate to get more players. Never seen that happen before. Suppose it wouldn’t hurt to see what it’s like anyway. But they gotta be kidding themselves if they think I will buy. Pity there is no spider-man demo. But will try out the lego one.

PHEEliNUX 30 April, 2014 @ 3:55 pm   43

Are Corpse Party games going on sale anytime or should I buy something else until then?

jarvissquirrel 30 April, 2014 @ 3:57 pm   44

i want to buy child of light right now. can someone please clarify what the difference is between bundle, deluxe and standalone versions. does bundle include the golem dlc and is the standalone cheaper. i want to spend my hasrd earned cash but until this is explained im holding off. thankyou

The deluxe version, which I have is one I ordered from a store and comes with a download code for the game and has 2 other codes for golems and fairy like creature. The deluxe edition is the one that came with the art book, poster and keychain. You can’t buy that version on PSN as it has tangible stuff with it. It appears the bundle is for both PS4 and PS3 version. I didn’t realise that there was a standalone version, but maybe the bundle is only available for the deluxe as that version cost £16.95.

ElfMageBex 30 April, 2014 @ 4:00 pm   45

when is the update gonna show on the store

Lethalx08 30 April, 2014 @ 4:01 pm   46

What is with the increase of trolls posting random crap on here o.O.

Bah on topic i’m glad DW7 XL is on the store, missed the release & then like the other XL games became hard to find.

Damn, was hoping for a sale on Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc/Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory like the US has :/

IronSIGHT 30 April, 2014 @ 4:05 pm   48

I am still unable to pick PayPal as a payment option in the PS Store on the Playstation 4. I can either enter creditcard information or enter a code.

I thought that the 1.70 update would bring PayPal as an alternative payment option. Is this feature slowly rolled-in through the different stores or is this simply not yet enabled for the EU (or Netherlands) store?
If either, when can I expect to use my PayPal account to do some purchases?

AlennTax_Eu 30 April, 2014 @ 4:06 pm   49

No demo for Child of Light ?

    medenko1975 30 April, 2014 @ 7:02 pm

US STORE has the demo, i downloaded it yesterday, played today….excellent game !!!!

Hrimgrimnir 30 April, 2014 @ 4:06 pm   50

Why are the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Jetstream and Blade Wolf DLCs still not free?

    Cloud4K 30 April, 2014 @ 5:16 pm

This. They’ve been free on the US psn store for quite a while now, are other territories going to get the same love or is it a Konami thing?

    Andrefpvs 30 April, 2014 @ 7:39 pm

They’re also free in Europe for Xbox 360! Only EU PSN doesn’t have the free DLC.

    GordonLea1 30 April, 2014 @ 9:08 pm

The full game was on the IGC around the same time as the DLC went free in the U.S. and on xbox 360, I guess the developers thought that the full game for free was more than enough. That or SCEE don’t care as they didn’t discount the rock band DLC either, whilst other formats did.

    Ares_tm 30 April, 2014 @ 9:22 pm

But it’s not very nice for PS3 Gamers who bought the game at release (like me) or after it was free in the IGC. Would be nice to play these two DLCs, but for this price is it to expensive.
And why must we pay for it, I mean I bought the game at release like other gamers in USA.
If we not get it free, would be a discount or a price drop nice. ;)
