Futuridium EP Deluxe blasts onto PS4, PS Vita in July

Take a look at a new trailer for the psychedelic 3D shoot’em up

Hi fellow PlayStation fans, it’s time for a little update on Futuridium EP Deluxe, our upcoming fast paced, retro inspired, super colourful and psychedelic 3D shoot’em up. The big news first: we can finally announce that the game will launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in July. The precise launch day is still to be determined, but you’ll definitely be able to blast tons of cubes and blow up giant space dreadnoughts this summer. So hold tight, the wait is almost over!

Futuridium is our first console game, and let’s say we got a bit carried away and we took our time to add lots of new features and a massive amount of exclusive content. At the heart of the Deluxe edition is the brand new Deluxe mode: a massive campaign, featuring 50 different levels divided in five zones, with five bosses and five bonus areas.

There are no extra power-ups in Futuridium and you can count only on your skills, but to better equip you against the all new odds you’ll encounter in deep space, we added a turbo mode to your starship (how generous!). The turbo is just a press of a button away: you can sprint even faster between obstacles, adding a new layer of complexity to the game and a new meaning to the words ‘risk’ and ‘reward’.

The new campaign, aside from the high-score chasing thrill in the leaderboards, provides new challenges in the form of 150 medals to get, three for each Deluxe level. Don’t die to get the first, chain a minimum number of cubes to get the second and finish the level under a certain amount of time to get the third. Sounds easy? Trust us, it’s not: only the very best pilots will be able to get all the medals in the game – it’s brutally difficult!

“Buy once and blast cubes on a big TV screens or on the go: there’s no better deal.”

But fear not, you can still enjoy everything in the game: by simply playing and destroying blue cubes, new stuff gets progressively unlocked. Credits to continue, new skins and new gameplay modes like the original Classic campaign, with no turbo and a set of 13 levels to master and different speeds to unlock and… well, we don’t want to spoil everything!

Futuridium EP Deluxe will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and will launch simultaneously on both platforms as a cross buy game. Buy once and blast cubes on a big TV screens or on the go: there’s no better deal.

Keep an eye on PlayStation Blog – when we have a firm release date, you’ll be the first to know!

PS: if you live in Europe, you can already try out the game: a demo of Futuridium EP Deluxe is available on PlayStation 4 demo stations in select European stores. Try it out and tweet us a photo of your high scores at @MixedBagGames, we would love to feature all the best demo scores on our website!

Looks really great and cant wait to play it on my vita once I clear my backlog. On the topic of vita how does the version hold up compared to the ps4 version of the game?

    Mauro Fanelli 29 May, 2014 @ 3:48 pm

    Thanks!
The game is the same on both platform, the only differences are cosmetic ones.
The PS4 version sports more full screen visual effects and we use the DS4 features for some cool additions.
Gameplay wise the game is the same. :)

It looks very interesting! And cross-buy (the PS Vita version looks more appropriate for Futuridium)! Can’t wait for good games like this.

Alphaembryo 29 May, 2014 @ 3:19 pm   7

Looks good. I will support it for the right price.

    Mauro Fanelli 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm

The price will be ‘indie reasonable’.
    So… right, we hope.

blk7_au 29 May, 2014 @ 3:22 pm   8

Looks cool. Is this a homage to Uridium, at all?

Looks like this will be a fun game to play in certain “frames of mind”. I’ll be picking it up for certain.

In which countries is a PS4 demo available?

    Mauro Fanelli 29 May, 2014 @ 3:46 pm

Should be available in all European countries, in the stores PS4 demo stations. :)

ccontinisio 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm   11

I had played the original prototype and I loved it, so stylish. I’ve been waiting for this version to come out!!

Ahhhh “demo stations”… Now I understood :D

Generatorx55 29 May, 2014 @ 4:38 pm   13

Unfortunately, no demo for France’s “Fnac”. I checked today. Anyways, I am buying this on the vita when it comes out, but I agree with Alphaembryo: For the right price.

    Mauro Fanelli 29 May, 2014 @ 4:59 pm

Sadly we don’t exactly know in what stores the PS4 demo units features the game.
There are plenty of demo stations around, but not all of them have the game installed.

I’m gonna be honest, even though I dont particularly like indie games, I didnt really mind them and it felt nice that theres not only a handful of large companies making a living from the industry. But not anymore.

What I would have though of a game like this last year:
‘Pretty cool indie game, might check it out sometime, might not’

What I have been thinking of them lately:
‘This is gonna be PS+ filler one day, isnt it?’

You can thank the PS+ team for the change of perceptions.

Nice! Looks like there are a lot of sleepless nights coming :D

Well it passes the goose bump reaction test so it must be good. Glad its coming to Vita :)

Can’t wait for this game looks fantastic and I love the commitment shown by MixedBag. Any news on whether the game supports trophies? If I collect 150 medals I would like a trophy to show that I spent all of my summer indoors playing Futuridium.

    Mauro Fanelli 30 May, 2014 @ 1:00 pm

    Thanks jbam89!
Sure the game has trophies! ;)
For the 150 medals… Gold trophy!
