PlayStation Plus in June: NBA 2K14, Trine 2, Dragon’s Crown, Pixeljunk, more

Lone Survivor and Surge Deluxe also join the service next week

Next month, PlayStation Plus will reach its 4th anniversary. It’s evolved a great deal since its inception, providing our PS Plus members with exclusive discounts, beta access and even select games early, as well as, of course, great games to play through our Instant Game Collection. As our members have grown with us from our introduction on PS3, PS Vita and now PS4, together we’ve built a really strong global community of gamers.

PlayStation Plus has been an essential part of PlayStation 4, providing access to next-gen online multiplayer and a steady stream of great games including Resogun, Outlast and Don’t Starve. Since we are always looking to continue the evolution of PS Plus as a service that really serves our community, we are excited to provide a more balanced set of games each month within the Instant Game Collection. As you’ll see below, starting in June, members will now have access to two titles per month for each of our platforms.

Since we’ve seen how excited many of you are to download Instant Game Collection titles as soon as they’re available, we’ve decided to adjust the length of time each title will be available. Starting in July, every title in the Instant Game Collection will be available the first Wednesday of the month, and will be free for that month, until the first Wednesday of the following month.

In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out, so if you’re new to the service and haven’t had a chance to download all of the titles available through PS Plus — or if you’ve been thinking about subscribing but haven’t yet — now is the perfect time to get all the great games available with PS Plus.

Anyway, without further ado, read on to find out what’s coming to the service next month.

New on PlayStation 4:

First up this month on PS4 comes a real gem from the incredible development teams at Q-Games and Double 11. Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate is a twin stick shooter that is as much about blasting things as it is about exploration and puzzle-solving.

Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate combines the campaigns of Shooter 1 and 2 into a single package with new features and optimisations. It’s a highly addictive game and with a platinum trophy to collect I’m certain this will keep you entertained throughout June.

Next up this month on PS4, let your imagination run wild in a beautiful fairy-tale land, avoiding danger at every turn as you solve mysterious puzzles in the award-winning Trine 2: The Complete Story. Don’t forget, you can take advantage of co-op multiplayer for up to three players in this epic adventure so grab your friends and get online.

Trine 2

New on PlayStation 3:

First up on PS3 this month, NBA 2K14 slam dunks its way onto PlayStation Plus. IGN believe this to be the best basketball simulator ever giving it a whopping 8.9 out of 10 and I won’t disagree! To ensure you make the most of your game, get online and face off against rival squads.

NBA

Next up on PS3 is the Cross-Buy psychological survival horror Lone Survivor (Director’s Cut). You play as a masked protagonist who must escape from a city ravaged by disease. Starving and exhausted, you begin to question how much of what you see is even real.

The choice of how to survive is up to you. Sneak through without firing a single shot, or kill everything in your path. Search for survivors, or try to escape the city alone. Look after your mental health, or descend into madness…

New on PS Vita

Dragon’s Crown is your first offering this month on PS Vita. Be prepared to be thrust into a fantastical medieval world packed with labyrinthine dungeons to explore, vile monstrosities to smite, and nearly endless online adventure. Your mission is to dive into the dank underworld, uncovering treasure and strengthening your mettle as you unlock the secret behind the ancient dragon threatening the world.

Last but certainly not least make sure you pick up the electrifying Surge Deluxe from the team at Futurlab. This is a highly addictive block matching puzzle game where you need to be lightning fast to compete!

Expanded from the original release of Surge, this Deluxe version adds in a new Combiner block for higher multiplayers in strategic play and a new Chain Linker block for longer chain connections! Trust us – this one is very hard to put down.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! :))))))

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:00 pm

Actually its changing from 8 ps3 games to 2 ps3 games, but you are welcome.

    sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 4:04 pm

    @BaneyFunny : what are you talking ? It was 3 PS3 games per month, now 2 but 2 PS4 games…
Why have you seen 8 PS3 games per month ?

If you talk about yearly games, they will come in one or two weeks, as usual… They never been annouced with the June monthly program… God please !

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:09 pm

@sword15 isnt it 7 or 8 ps3 games available now in the IGC? it used to be more, but now its 7 or 8. I read in this blog post that these will get removed and they say if you dont have plus yet “grab these titles now while you still can” and the new system is only 2 games per system are available at any given time.

    hilts663 29 May, 2014 @ 4:11 pm

Sword, get your head out of your a$$. Fred wrote: NO YEARLY GAMES… Maybe in France it means something else but in the rest of the world it means NO YEARLY GAMES

    counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 4:15 pm

Who cares? Im just happy that plus giving me games to play!

    G-IH-O-S-T 29 May, 2014 @ 4:57 pm

@hilts663 Maybe you need some explanation because I can’t see how anyone thinks this is a bad thing.. it’s actually a great change..
If you think about it, 2 ‘yearly’ games are 2 extra games for the whole year.. if you have a 1 year subscription you’re not getting anything out of it except those 2 games..
Now that it’s gone we have an extra 1 game EVERY MONTH.. this is 12 games per year.. instead of 2..

The only people “losing” are the one very new to PS and want PS+.. everyone else is getting a better deal.

    andrewsqual 29 May, 2014 @ 5:13 pm

@BaneyFunny Why would you reply to counterUAVbaby with that comment, it has nothing to do with what he/she said. Oh its because you thought that this blog post would go live at 4:00pm and you missed your chance to get first, awwwww did you miss it? Now that is dedication for something you aren’t even subscribed to ^_^ Actually its changing from 39 games a year on PS3 to 24 games a year on PS3, not that you would have gave any kind of praise to either number before or after today anyway. (And it really should be 1 game on Vita a week as 24 games a year on Vita was always just way too generous :) )

And to @counterUAVbaby, I agree THANK YOU Sony, there isn’t really anything that wouldn’t have still made it the best service for gamers of the decade hands down.

    counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 5:22 pm

@andrewsquals Thank god, you and 52 people are logical! :)

    fireaspider 29 May, 2014 @ 5:52 pm

Ok sony must have paid you !! This must be the worst month of instant game collection EVER !
and thats how they celebrate their 4th year ! i’m sorry but that is too sad and disappointing ! even for PS3 we got an indie game !

    andrewsqual 29 May, 2014 @ 6:05 pm

@counterUAVbaby Cool dude. On Eurogamer alot of people seem to be bringing up the thing of how you may as well wait before buying a game in case it goes on Plus but that is always how it has been. I will be picking up Oddworld New n Tasty Day 1 even if it went on Plus 2 months later. ^_^

    counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 6:10 pm

@andrewsqual I don’t buy games anyway, but whatever and cool for you! and can I add you on psn?

    Lt_Combo 29 May, 2014 @ 9:28 pm

@ Andrew .. totally agree .. I buy any game I want to support/and just want period. If that game ends up on PS+ WHO CARES .. I enjoyed it, I supported the devs .. that others got it for free doesn’t change anything. Without PS+ would have paid for it anyway.

Somehow people now feel entitled to get all games free and if they get a game they already own or don’t want they get all upset lol.. what’s that all about? Soon some people will demand all AAA games for free on release date

    counterUAVbaby 30 May, 2014 @ 6:15 pm

@fireaspider Yeah you are right Sony pays me and now im throwing their money in my screen now :P

RiskyLemon 29 May, 2014 @ 3:31 pm   2

Really?

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:02 pm

Gamers are not smart people. They want a paywall. You can see it on ps4. Half of ps4 owners got PLUS. While on ps3 its not even one in twenty people… So thats why there is no need for sony anymore to give out a ton of great games in PLUS. Because gamers votes for the online-paywall. Sad but true:(

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:02 pm

    *voted

    Stingraysito 29 May, 2014 @ 4:41 pm

I’m really disappointed at this update. It all started with the yearly VITA games which even if it was a business related decision the way that is has been communicated to the consumers has been nothing short of disrespectful.

My subscription won’t be renewed. I don’t have a PS4 so not point of paying for it.

Well with the PS4 you are pretty much screwed. Is not like people chose the paywal @baneyfunny. Either you pay it or play just offline ;)

    AlexAtkinUK 29 May, 2014 @ 7:15 pm

Sony are in a lot of debt, they have to claw back the money somehow.

PSN was free on PS3 because they needed to claw back the lead from Microsoft. The huge exploit identified however that it could not continue, they needed revenue to improve the service.

Sadly so far it seems to be performing WORSE on PS4 not better, but hopefully they can get on top of it with the increased PSN+ fees coming in.

Its not about WANTING a pay wall, its about wanting a sustainable service that actually works.

    Lt_Combo 29 May, 2014 @ 9:19 pm

@Baney .. lol come on now .. Only person who isn’t being smart here is you. Not only do you get your money’s worth. I gladly pay 50eu a year so I can have a superior online experience and sony has some money for decent servers etc instead of having to cheap out so they can provide everything for free.

    Xaronyr 4 June, 2014 @ 12:31 pm

I find it funny Baney is complaining about the service…. Even though he’s not a part of it. When I got my Vita I got PS+ just so I could get a few more games while I’m building my collection, I think of it as rental. As long as I pay and stay a member, I can keep the games, however if I don’t stay a member I lose them.

The discounts are a bonus and so are the exclusives. It’s not like it’s FORCED on people, its optional. Unless, of course, you want to play online on a PS4

JoeB423 29 May, 2014 @ 3:32 pm   3

Awesome, that’s four games that I can get on the Vita!

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:21 pm

Yeah they (on particular one guy here) seem to often forget most are ps3 owners here and want ps3 content.

    JoeB423 1 June, 2014 @ 6:43 pm

Awesome, that’s four games that I can get on my Vita and two games I can get on my ps3!

    clare_01 2 June, 2014 @ 2:41 am

I think that Vita’s games should be excluded from Plus program. It’s better to get 3 games for PS3 & 3 games for PS4. Vita is a small “console”, not solid and not stationary. She looks like an overgrown smartphone. Are there a smartphone games in Plus? Nope.

    BluSpykz 4 June, 2014 @ 10:17 am

    @Clare_01 – probably the worst anti-Vita excuse I’ve read in a while.

My PS3 looks like my George Foreman grill, but I can’t get sausages on it, for free or otherwise.

yay for the ps4 games but why are we suddenly getting the yearly sports games on ps+ can we atleast have a ps1 classic to choose instead of sports games?

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:22 pm

my heart just cracked, why would you want to rent ps1 games, grab them in sales and own them forever without this DRM Crap!

    pn3b0y 29 May, 2014 @ 8:13 pm

@BaneyFunny i have all the ps1 games that i want from the store in physical form, it’s more of a yay i can play them via vita without having to be tied to the ps3

AshesArise 29 May, 2014 @ 3:32 pm   5

jesus christ i was hoping those rumors were false…absolutely nothing in june for me then, make that 3 crap months in a row.

    madmanwithabox12 29 May, 2014 @ 3:39 pm

Come on man, you can’t really complain. It’s free stuff at the end of the day.

    NIALLERMANBUZ 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm

I hate that word ‘free’…It’s not free, you’re paying for it.

    Leon_DiZ 29 May, 2014 @ 3:44 pm

@madmanwithabox12 You know you are paying a subscription for these, right?

    Alphaembryo 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm

    @madmanwithabox12
Try to play your ”free” games, when you don’t pay your subscription…

    MoMo-Snip-01 29 May, 2014 @ 3:49 pm

Same here, three months without downloading anything, in fact there is nothing that deserves i remove a game from my ps3 for. for ps4 games, till we have some ‘real’ games, i won’t consider any indy game as a good thing.

    AshesArise 29 May, 2014 @ 3:53 pm

I’m just stating my opinion and that considering we pay for the service that there would be some decent 1-2 year old titles that could be put in. Sports games generally don’t sit well with majority of the players on here too from past experiences i have seen.
Sorry if i may sound like im complaining to you or any other but it’s just frustrating sometimes to get poor titles for the service we pay for.

    AkodoRyu 29 May, 2014 @ 4:00 pm

Wow, people are so up in arms about word “free” in that context.

For me games are free – I’m paying for premium services: online play, automatic updates on PS3 and such. See no reason not to call games free. Just get over yourselves.

Not to mention previous months weren’t “crap” in any objective way – you might have not enjoyed specific games, but (April) Mercenary Kings is solid and mass of content, Sly Cooper is one of best character platformers this gen, Hotline Miami is exquisite little, demented game, (May) Puppeteer – flawed, but cute, Muramasa Rebirth – exquisite, Everybody’s Golf – fun, even for non-fans, Payday 2 – no idea, shooty shooty, w/e, (June) Trine 2 – great and one of the most beautiful games this decade, good for solo and coop, Dragon’s Crown – one of the best brawlers this gen, or ever, Lone Survivor – one of the best horror games in a while, even with pixely graphics. There is also football and basketball game for sports fans – both good/great.

If you think those months are rubbish/none of those games are up to your taste than… I kinda pity you, because it’s very wide selection of genres – if you don’t like any of those, what do you play?

    ocelot07 29 May, 2014 @ 4:04 pm

All the people who has commented above me are entitled to there opinion. Here is mine so please don’t quote me and say am wrong or am stupid as it is just my opinion. But the way I see it the £30 a year I pay for PS+ is just so I can play online on that system. I don’t mind this I paid £30-£40 for XBL for 9 years and I had no issues at all doing so.

So the games I get every month is a nice free bonus. Without this nice free bonus I would of probably sold my PS3 as soon as I I got my PS4 as well as my Vita. June’s update is very good in my opinion. As I have not played any of them titles except for Trine 2 which I adore. I ant played the DLC for it so that is going to be new for me. Games like Trine I value more than titles like COD and Final Fantasy.

    sixsix7 29 May, 2014 @ 4:07 pm

“It’s not free, you’re paying for it”.
“You know you are paying a subscription for these, right?”.
“Try to play your ”free” games, when you don’t pay your subscription…”.
“…it’s just frustrating sometimes to get poor titles for the service we pay for.”

So stop paying for it if you don’t think it’s value for money, it’s that easy.

Personally, I get more than my money’s worth, but maybe I’m just lucky. I’d like to get a PS4 so I actually keep hoping the quality of PS3 games will slow down so I can have a chance of clearing my PS3 backlog. Gonna be a while yet it looks like.

    G-IH-O-S-T 29 May, 2014 @ 4:12 pm

I’ll never understand you people.. honestly, if you can afford getting games like these early or are not interested you should probably stop subscribing.
Either that or stop buying games.
You’ll see how it’s better than buying every game then complain when it’s offered for PS+ users much later

    AshesArise 29 May, 2014 @ 4:15 pm

“so just stop paying for it”
well if we did that the games we have gained that we DO like from previous months cannot be played again (plus online play for PS4 users) So my statement still stands.

    ollie_uk_2008 29 May, 2014 @ 4:26 pm

give the indie games a go they can be surprisely fun. =]

    sixsix7 29 May, 2014 @ 4:37 pm

“well if we did that (stop paying for PS+) the games we have gained that we DO like from previous months cannot be played again”.

So obviously you’re getting some value out of the money you pay, I mean you’re still playing those games you got in previous months, right?.

I get it, some months are better than others. I’ve had months where I haven’t been too interested in what’s been on offer. But overall, I consider it a fantastic service that has introduced me to a lot of great games I never would have played had they not been on PS+. You win some, you lose some. You’ve got to weigh the pros vs the cons and see if the overall cost if worth it for you.

    AshesArise 29 May, 2014 @ 6:46 pm

Don’t get me wrong I’m not having a go at you or knocking the service, its great for the discounts etc, its just 3 straight months of not overwhelmingly great titles is a little frustrating, I do understand that they have to cater to everyone but you gotta admit it is still pretty poor compared to what has been on off in the past.

    OuterLife 30 May, 2014 @ 5:14 am

Dragon’s Crown alone justifies this month.

    Kiss7787 30 May, 2014 @ 10:16 am

PSN plus is only value for money if you have a ps3 and a vita, if you have a single device it’s not worth the money, the ps4 content has been terrible, i wouldn’t buy a plus subscription if i only had a ps4,

imo sony are losing money from plus subscribers because they a lot are afraid to buy new games because they think they will come to plus later, their no worse feeling than a big game coming to psn plus that you already paid full price for when it was originally released….
sony should do something like offer some psn credit to people who already bought games and and lost out on plus by doing so. or offer alternative games

    AlucardTepes_DE 30 May, 2014 @ 1:09 pm

I dont know who said its not free, and you ar epaying for it but…
    thats quite wrong actualy…
Yes I payed 50€ for 1 year plus but I alredy got enought games to summe-up around nearly 200€ worth of those 50€ so I don’t think im losing money. (Plus the extra discount I get wen buying games digitaly I might have saved alredy 30€ by now.)

    Devils_Demon 30 May, 2014 @ 5:00 pm

As soon as I downloaded the first retail game that I was actually going to buy anyway from Gamestop for €60, everything since then has been free. Yes I’m paying €50 per year but once Bioshock Infinite was in my download list that €50 was used up. Everything since then is free.
Disagree all you want but I consider Plus games to be free.

    fredrick_krueger 30 May, 2014 @ 6:55 pm

I was thinking exactly the same about this month’s games. Had my fingers crossed people had it wrong. This will also be the 3rd month in a row for me that I don’t download any of the games. I actually thought once the ps4 came out that the ps3 games would be really good as all of the focus would be on the ps4 and Sony would to keep people interested in all of their consoles. I own ps3 ps4 + vita but there hasn’t been one game in 3 months between the 3 formats that I would want to play.

PHEEliNUX 29 May, 2014 @ 3:32 pm   6

PS Vita’s Dragon’s Crown… Hype died
Not sure about Lone Survivor, Could probably play it

    Archacus 29 May, 2014 @ 4:08 pm

It is good… but most people already beat it on PC… it was in bundle for 1$

    Oh… and Trine 2 was 1$ bundle… and Pixel Junk … for 3$ if I’m not mistaken

Dragon’s Crown is very good game… but sadly due to the fact that it is ONE OF THE FEW GAMES THAT HAVE PHYSICAL BOX AND GAME COPY most of people already have it.

All in all… I don’t see reason for me to buy membership+… again

wouties 29 May, 2014 @ 3:32 pm   7

Only Dragon’s Crown for me…
How about our ‘yearly’ vita games? Will you replace them soon?

    StevenJamesHyde 29 May, 2014 @ 3:46 pm

“In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out”

They’re going away, they probably won’t be replaced

    Fred Dutton 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm

Chris will be along to answer questions soon, but just to clarify, the annual ‘evergreen’ titles will not be replaced. Instead, you’ll be getting one additional PS4 game every month. So, 2 x PS3, 2 x PS4 and 2 x Vita each month for the foreseeable future.

    SGTSTEELFACE 29 May, 2014 @ 3:53 pm

OK I was happy now im angry this essentially is a kick in the teeth

    pinkplaybunny 29 May, 2014 @ 3:56 pm

Oh wow, that’s crap not happy with that change considering the type of PS4 games we are getting, would rather have the evergreen ones replaced…

    DjangoDiabolik 29 May, 2014 @ 3:57 pm

In that case I wish Sony would be upfront with us instead of taking things away and trying to make out they’re doing us a favor. It’s becoming a habit.

    SGTSTEELFACE 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm

This is really slippery I have to say Im quite appalled how plus has been conducted all these changes dont benefit the consumer they benefit playstation

    alice_push_lara2 29 May, 2014 @ 4:00 pm

Trine 2 is an amazing game i`m quite happy to play it again.
but in future there will be 2 PS4 indies a month? at least a few them are still playable lol

    irve77 29 May, 2014 @ 4:03 pm

If that’s Sony’s new policy 6 games every month I think most people will now be happy.
Certainly is we start to bump up a retail PS4 game every 3-4 months.

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:05 pm

fred i think you are wrong because the text clearly says the yearly titles will get removed instead there is always 2 available for each platform, just like in US too from now on.

    fps_d0minat0r 29 May, 2014 @ 4:06 pm

    I’m disappointed.
I would rather have a couple of good AAA games in the yearly update than 12 PS4 indies.
The only non indie games I see us getting are demo’s like MGS ground zeroes or DC ‘plus edition’.

    killerguydk 29 May, 2014 @ 4:07 pm

@SGTSTEELFACE, why is it a “kick in the teeth”?

Considering that the annual cycle contains three PS3 games, we actually receive nine more games each year. Of course, some of them will be indie and not so interesting for you but then again; you are not the only, nor the most important person in the world.

Some, other than you, will find the titles quite interesting and enjoyable. Also, do you honestly expect them to pop out AAA titles for the PS4 so soon on such a cheap (in terms of its price, not quality) service?

    Nathan-DTS 29 May, 2014 @ 4:08 pm

Just to let everyone that’s complaining know that we’re getting 12 extra PS4 games in a year which is a little better than 5 or 6 PS3/Vita games. Provided they’re decent, I guess.

    WizzNL 29 May, 2014 @ 4:14 pm

So we are now getting 1 Vita retail and 1 indie, 1 PS3 retail and 1 indie, 2 PS4 indies. We lost 2 retail Vita titles ( Evergreen 1s ) , 3 PS3 retail titles ( Evergreen 1s ) and 12 PS3 retail titles ( our 3rd monthly PS3 game ). Plus is getting worse by the month. Good thing we have that awesome NextGen Online Multiplayer on the PS4 that Chris is talking about.

    SGTSTEELFACE 29 May, 2014 @ 4:22 pm

@killerguydk My problem is nothing that you just stated its the clarity the service messages its changes plus has been shrunk and chopped at ever since the ps4 arrived on the scene even when they insisted that ps4 wouldnt change a thing.

I am a owner of only a vita and a ps3 feel a bit cheated with the service changes which has made it more of a rough deal for me and may I just add I adore Indies so dont worry about that.

Thing is they havent been clear with us they have messed with our service to benefit them and frankly I think it is a poor move to shun consumers like that

    BurnWitchBurn 29 May, 2014 @ 4:36 pm

The everegreen titles were available all year long to lure newcomers into the ps habitat…
    “GOSH IF I HAVE A PS3 AND A VITA AND SUBSCRIBE TO PS+ I GET 1, 2,3… HMM… 9 GAMES FOR FREE UHMUGUH”
The ps3 and the psvita are no longer a priority, so they chose to remove those yearly titles in exchange for 2 titles on the ps4. That’s a marketing option to favour the ps4. I don’t own a ps4, nor will i in the near future, i have, however, 2 ps3 and and a psvita and i fear we might be forlorned in the near future… Remember the ‘other OS’ feature in the ps3? Remember the 3 ps3 games a month in EU region? Yeah, now that they are the popular kinds on the block they feel entitled to do whatever they want… Anyway, my two cents.

    UK_Rocklance 29 May, 2014 @ 5:09 pm

So we will have 2 IGC games for each of the 3 platforms every month. But how many of them are going to be new for the month? If 1 for each platform is an evergreen, we are only getting 3 new games every month. If 5 of them are evergreen, we are only getting 1 new game every month. Looking at the 6 games in June, I dont want to see ANY of them staying for a year.

Don’t tell us “members will now have access to two titles per month for each of our platforms”. Tell us how many **NEW** titles we will have access to per month.

    Izorpo 29 May, 2014 @ 5:29 pm

What does this even mean “evergreen” huh, since when did Sony start selling a type of pine tree or shrub?

Really, just say in plain English, not some pseudo cliche catchphrase jargon, that yearly titles will no longer exist. It’s that simple. Honestly, these stupid wannabe colloquialisms are as bad as the ones the news uses ie: lessons learned (meaning won’t do f’ all) or green shoots of recovery (out and out lies about the economy and a means of sleight of hand distraction).

So “evergreen” means we know you all signed up to one version of plus but now we are going to change things so that someone loses out unless they buy all our consoles and handhelds…I actually have a PS3, PS4 and vita yet the inability to speak in proper English and uses some American (pro-active)ism really does my head in.

Is this evergreen some sort of ‘newspeak’? Thought control Sony style? Or have we delved into the crevices of Oopa Loompa speech?

    Lianz2005 29 May, 2014 @ 9:55 pm

That is really disappointing that all of a sudden it’s dropped on us that we won’t be getting renewed yearly updates. I guess the writing was on the wall last year when the vita games remained unchanged. The quality has dropped considerably over the last 3 months. The bar was set high with titles like bioshock infinite and DmC. But I guess we’re a captive audience seeing as how we won’t be able to play games from the igc with a ps+ sub

    eyesofvenus 9 June, 2014 @ 7:57 pm

I only own a ps3. This month is garbage for me. NBA? Really? Thought maybe giving say FIFA would have been more relevant to this side of the Atlantic. The Indie on offer looks like it was made by a 5 year old. I was looking forward to DC until I realized it was only for Vita, while the ps3 version is still €49.99. I think this is the start of the phase out for ps3. Can’t complain too much though, I did get some great games on it over the years

hiryu_PL 29 May, 2014 @ 3:33 pm   8

So one less for PS3 one more for PS4. Quite nice. I’m just afraid that since we received such fine deal US will get 3 games per month, per every platform ;) Hope not.
Chris used magic word – BALANCING!! :)

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 4:21 pm

The PS Plus service will contain the same amount of games in each region

Yea, you answer that question but not the others…

    WizzNL 29 May, 2014 @ 4:42 pm

@Chris: So when it does suit you, you do compare our Plus to US Plus? Do we also get the same sales and discounts from now on? Or will that remain a 10% discount compared to the 50-75% the US often gets? Or do we get your random excuse you dont compare EU and US?

    theJJ88 29 May, 2014 @ 4:57 pm

“As you’ll see below, starting in June, members will now have access to two titles per month for each of our platforms.”

When are you going to announce Monthly PSP games then? ;)

Oh, and RIP Instant Game Collection – You will be missed. And you have proven you’ve got balls, announcing this before E3. I can hardly stop laughing, I mean, people were angry about removing ONE game, you said you are listening to our feedback – so you REMOVED WHOLE IGC and started 2 Monthly Games program. Oh wow. I love you guys. :D

    UK_Rocklance 29 May, 2014 @ 5:04 pm

@Chris, When you say “The PS Plus service will contain the same amount of games in each region”, are you also speaking for the Asia and Japan regions?

    Izorpo 29 May, 2014 @ 5:32 pm

Really? Or do you just mean NA and EU as Japan has over 100+ psone titles “free” to PS+ users. Not to mention other tantalizing items like MMORPG’s on both consoles and the vita available for PS+ subscribers.

Also new themes and avatars each month as well, and they are ones that are applicable to games…you know why we buy consoles in the first place.

Like he even cares. So what’s been happening for the last 6 months. The amount of game sure as hell weren’t the same in each region. How convenient for you to make changes into the service without a warning a just before E3 when the yearly game were supposed to be changed. But apparently we should be feeling ecstatic we are treated equally like other regions, even though no matter how you spin it this isn’t the service most of us signed up for. For 6 months we had one Ps3 game taken for us while the same thing wasn’t implemented to other regions, and now all of a sudden, we get that game (not the same thing exactly however. An AAA ps3 game for some junk indie/platform whatever game doesn’t sound like a good deal to me) only to loose 3 games from the yearly rotation. We are still cheated however you see it and that is pretty serious. Changes and evaluations will be made obviously, for everyone separately, but I wonder if there’s anything we can do as a community.

    Alphaembryo 31 May, 2014 @ 4:40 pm

    @DarkArchoNx66
    ”Like he even cares.”

It doesn’t really matter if he cares; When you are in a public domain, engaging in public discourse, declaring something but having double standards –as WizzNL cleverly showed by his comment–, especially when that one is a figure carrying that ”mighty” title of ”PS Store and Plus Content Manager”, credibility drops to zero. Notice that I’m not only talking about the employee in question; whole advertising campaigns can crumble in two cross-checked comments heading towards a diametrically contrasting direction from the one they ”want” to express. And that is what happened here: 4theplayers? 4themoney… This is failing PR right there. Not that we were not aware of the situation as a whole…

I totally agree with the rest of your comment.

counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 3:34 pm   9

Can Jak and Daxter trilogy be on that list please Chris?

Tuimic 29 May, 2014 @ 3:34 pm   10

Great update. Brilliant to see the PS4 getting two games a month now and to see Trine 2 is one of them. Played it on PC before but it’s a great game and will certainly play it again.

Also happy to see the amount of crossplay going on. Lone Survivor is something I’ve looked forward to playing on a Vita.

CoolBeard 29 May, 2014 @ 3:34 pm   11

Maybe this time my question will not be ignored.

When Atelier Escha & Logy and Atelier Meruru Plus will be available in Russian PSN?
TK said that all settled long time ago and now everything depends on the PSN.

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:23 pm

ask the dev? if all else fails even the sony president has several psn accounts for different regions

    G-IH-O-S-T 29 May, 2014 @ 5:24 pm

^ it sucks to do that on the Vita though.. since it can only have one account per memory card :(

    CoolBeard 29 May, 2014 @ 5:36 pm

Devs already answered. That’s why I’m trying to get an answer from the PS team. But they keep ignoring that question.
If all else fails… we have torrents, yep. But I still prefer to buy games.

    TankedThomas 30 May, 2014 @ 2:13 pm

I feel you. TecmoKoei hates some countries. Whilst those two Atelier games are available on the New Zealand PSN store, Atelier Totori Plus isn’t available, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 isn’t available, and until it went free with PS+, Dynasty Warriors Next wasn’t available, either. TecmoKoei is hopeless. I asked them about it on Twitter, but they never replied. The games are available in other European countries. Why not ALL of them? Oh, because SOME Atelier games are allowed but not others. That doesn’t make any sense. TecmoKoei is just lazy.

Half of PAL region don’t play basketball. Now many have to learn about the rules of this sport. That’s not interesting. Sorry to be blunt.

    BaneyFunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:24 pm

    the rules are simple:
throw the ball in the basket :D

    Izorpo 29 May, 2014 @ 5:39 pm

Rules are a bit more than toss ball in basket

So I’m guessing the US will get a cricket game next month, as that sport is just unbelievably huge over there. Do Sony even consider the games to offer to regions?

    runs_like_wind 30 May, 2014 @ 12:12 am

Us got a “football” game in may.

    CallumK91 7 June, 2014 @ 11:26 pm

Simple solution to that, learn the rules. Just because a sport isn’t as big in a country that another, doesn’t mean nobody will want that game. It’s actually quite a good game, and I only know basic basketball rules, and I have no interest in watching any sports.

” Starting in July, every title in the Instant Game Collection will be available the first Wednesday of the month, and will be free for that month, until the first Wednesday of the following month [...] In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out”

In other words, the yearly titles aren’t being replaced. Still, 12 extra monthly games beat 5 annual games, especially if you’re a PS4 owner

    sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 3:53 pm

    You’re so suspicious…
You know that’s the June’s annual games aren’t annouced with the monthly update but one or two weeks after, or at E3.
    So, keep calm, they’re coming…

For Vita annual games, we can’t be sure, but i don’t think they’ll just let Uncharted and Gravity Rush go without other games coming.

    Yearly PS3 games dead, confirmed…

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 4:28 pm

As Fred says above, the yearly games for both PS3 and PS VITA will not be replaced and will be leaving the service on 11th June so if you have not downloaded them, make sure you do now!

    Njitram2000 29 May, 2014 @ 4:43 pm

Hmmm, I’m both happy and frustrated at that, Chris.

I prefer getting a new PS4 game every month over two that stay all year because that only makes a difference to people that have not subscribed yet: 12 games per year (one per month) instead of the two yearly ones.

HOWEVER, I thought the second PS4 game was to make it equal with the 3rd ps3 game that the US still has but we somehow lost…

Still, very happy with the PS4 games this month.

Cool game for the PS4! Might even change my avatar to a happy face! LOL Thanks guys!

hayzink 29 May, 2014 @ 3:36 pm   22

I expected this all the way.

It was pretty obvious the yearly games were going to go with the fact that it happened to vita and not a word has been said about them.

Adding the extra ps4 games brings it in line with games with gold vs xb1 and overall is 1 game per month better than the competition .

I don’t care for my ps3 much now so more ps4 content suits me.

    Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 3:47 pm

Yeah, nice touch that they don’t express anymore “we don’t feel like it”. Instead the games “fade away”. So does my trust.

    Izorpo 29 May, 2014 @ 5:54 pm

Trusting a corporation is akin to bending over and shoving a hot metal skewer into your derriere. Corporations are like governments…lies, lies, distraction, lies, lies ad infinitum.

I still have and us my PS3 so I’m still getting 6 games a month, however I recall when PS+ changed from what it had been (PSN title, psone, minis etc) that we were told we would have around 45 games a year. Which is now 72 games a year, that’s more games if you have all 3 systems.

However maybe a better way to promote plus is if someone only has a PS3 or just a vita then a reduction in the cost of plus. I’m not sure how they would implement that though and leaving it to say SCEE would be well….any analogy I could give would just be a tired cliche

sadambober 29 May, 2014 @ 3:37 pm   23

Nothing for me . I guess that making dragon’s crown available on the ps3 as well was too big of a hustle to you Sony….

Good stuff. I’ve already got Dragon’s Crown, but its arrival on PS+ means my girlfriend and I can now play it together (her using my physical copy). The rest of the games look interesting as well, though I’m not much of a sports fan.

Also, Surge Deluxe is excellent. Can’t recommend that one enough.

    Nesther 29 May, 2014 @ 3:43 pm

Outlast, Merc Kings and Stick it to the Man were all amazing. You should play the games before judging them.

I’d rather have titles like that than the yearly multiplat rehashes from EA, Ubisoft and Activision.

    GrytEcHoG 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm

PS4 been out only 6 months and how do you expect them to give Full AAA games when there no library yet to consider? Give it a year or more then you will see AAA games in PS+. Also you are not paying PS+ only for PS4 because it covers three platforms along with discounts in every sale. So, look at the value you are getting for 50 a year. If you don’t like then don’t purchase PS+ and hate to see these kind of comments which doesn’t make sense.

    crnisokol 29 May, 2014 @ 3:53 pm

    Izorpo 29 May, 2014 @ 6:04 pm

They want the moon on a stick, people were asking for sales 19 days after the release of Toukiden.

Personally I prefer releases I can’t get anywhere else, however I wouldn’t be surprised to see either Thief or The Knack as part of plus on PS4 by the end of the year.

I don’t understand people moaning about lack of releases on a console that has only been out since the end of Nov. I had to wait until Feb to get a game I wanted and I had to import it from Japan. There are plenty of games available on the PS4, there just isn’t loads of AAA games.

Every console when it comes out has limited software, it takes time to develop games. Might want to consider that some of the release titles that were out in Nov. had been in development for years. Go look at online retailers to see what games are coming

Between having a PS3, PS4, vita, 3ds xl, xbox 360 not to mention older consoles there isn’t enough time in the year to play on them all

Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 3:39 pm   29

Excellent:
* Lone Survivor

Good games but why for EU / again that genre:
* NBA
* Dragons’s Crown

Just last month we a debate here that Muramasa’s Rebirth wasn’t a real RPG, discussed alternatives and that Dragon’s Crown would also fail to satisfy the often expressed demand for RPGs. And yet …
After PES its just one more sports game, now from the better game series but for a far less popular sport. And that just shortly after NBA 2013 was already given to some SCEE countries.

I get that both games are good and have been requested by severals. But it is disappointing that niches are catered while the top requests are being ignored month after month.

About Trine 2 … didn’t we already have that game in the IGC?
Hadn’t we been vocal enough about bringing the same games to the IGC more than once, even for different systems?

This could be a good month if the niche titles would be there to round up a broader collection. But alas, we only have a reduced IGC in Europe and thus it’s getting rather annoying. If you give us less, you should at least care a bit more to indeed share what people are looking for most.

    Nesther 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm

Muramasa and Dragon’s Crown are real RPGs. How you can argue otherwise is absolutely beyond me.

    DjangoDiabolik 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm

Dragon’s Crown and Muramasa are two of the best games on the Vita.

That said, I would like it if we started getting some PSP RPGs in place of some of the Vita games.

    Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 3:56 pm

    @Nesther
You are probably one of those who consider Soul Sacrifice and Okami to be RPGs too.
Just because a game has levels and item slots, doesn’t mean that it autmatically is a RPG. It just has RPG elements.

    Rochala 29 May, 2014 @ 3:57 pm

They are platform hack n’ slash with RPG elements.

    pinkplaybunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:01 pm

Yeah we already had Trine 2 on the PS3. However this version has about 50 odd trophies where as the PS3 one had about 12 including a platinum. Not sure that will make me want to play it again, since it seems like it will be harder work to platinum this time round ;-)

    Nesther 29 May, 2014 @ 4:05 pm

    @Golwar

Let us not have this senseless discussion, because you are in the clear minority hear. Muramasa and DC are RPGs, just because they’re Action RPGs doesn’t make them any less of an RPG. You have levels, skills to choose from, item customization, quests and different routes/endings.

Just because they’re not turn-based like Final Fantasy does not mean they’re not RPGs.

    Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 4:24 pm

Yeah, yeah Nesther, I’m in the clear minority. You are the only one arguing that they are full RPGs, while Rochala agrees with me. And as I said in the OP, I discussed this with others previously on this blog, after Muramasa Rebirth came to the IGC. I didn’t even start that debate then and we reached the consens that that SCEE still didn’t manage to deliver what those who requested RPGs expected.

I also said that Dragon’s Crown is surely a good game and was on the wish list of many. So how about that you are happy with what you got and allow me to request that I get what I want too, eh?
And trust me, I know what I expect when I ask for a RPG. And it is NOT this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nOyfgzU6ao

    Nesther 29 May, 2014 @ 4:44 pm

So tell me, what IS a real RPG then, besides a table top role-playing game?

Wikipedia seems to agree with me in calling it “Muramasa: The Demon Blade, known in Japan as Oboromuramasa (朧村正?, literally “Hazy Muramasa”) is an action role playing game ”
Dragon’s Crown adds even more RPG elements to it.

Yet you seem to have some kind of arbitrary set of rules that exclude them from being RPGs.

    Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 5:16 pm

God, you really get on my nerves. A real RPGs has a complex story with twists and character interaction. A RPG allows exploration and has a world to discover and quests that go beyond “go through the level and kill”.

Action RPGs focus just on combat and enrich it with a skill tree, level system and weapons, which they borrow from the RPG genre.
So as I said, those 2 games have RPG elements but they aren’t RPGs. Maybe that the’s reason why they are called Action-RPGs, Hack’n’Slay or Action-Adventure, but not simply RPG, eh?
You know, just as the RPGs that some of us are hoping for.

And now please look for someone else to annoy. If you still need help to figure out what those 2 games lack from “real” RPGs, check something as this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_video_game#Characteristics

    misi2mezei 29 May, 2014 @ 5:19 pm

We didn’t get Trine 2 yet. At least I don’t remember.
Maybe in the US PS+, but in Europe I don’t think so. I am a subscriber from the start of IGC and it’s not in my download list.

    Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 5:20 pm

Oh, I forgot that RPGs should also allow you to make (moral) decisions that matter to your progress and story developement. Games as Soul Sacrifice just manage to offer the question if you sacrifice or safe soul. Again and again and again. What a lovely RPG that was!

    Nesther 29 May, 2014 @ 5:28 pm

So you’re basically calling the entirety of all Japanese RPGs, “not RPGs”. Alright. Understood. No wonder you don’t think DC is an RPG (even though it’s basically RPG 101): It’s missing Mass Effects dialogue wheel!

We should contact Vanillaware and tell them that they really need to add in that or some other dialogue tree-system, so they can label their games as RPGs.

On a more serious note. DC has all of those characteristica you linked me to: It even has a DnD-esque Dungeon Master narrator.

    Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 5:52 pm

    @Nester
JRPGs have character interaction, often a deep story, a world to discover and explore and sometimes even interesting quests. So I have no clue what you are talking about. Once again.

But guess what, I don’t really care anymore. All I want is that games as FFX, P4G etc. should be considered for the IGC too, instead of Action-RPGs only. If you get that there is an obvious difference between those games, or not, doesn’t really matter to me.

But do yourself a favor. If someone wished for a surivial horror game and is disappointed if he should receive Resident Evil 6 – don’t debate with him that RE6 has everything, that the survival horror genre is supposed to cover.

    @misi2mezei
Trine 2 was in the IGC, somewhen early 2012 I think. I’m 100% sure that I got it via SCEE.

    Kotatsu2000 29 May, 2014 @ 6:40 pm

Muramasa and Dragon’s Crown are hack and slash action games with some RPG elements.

While it’s difficult to define exactly what an RPG is, I think it’s safe to say exploration is a huge part of them, which is to say, the ability to go anywhere in any direction and explore a huge world.

    blackout_pt 29 May, 2014 @ 7:26 pm

    @Nesther
By the mere way Muramasa and Dragon’s Crown are played, they are not RPGs, in the same sense that Diablo series are not RPG.
    Examples of RPG:
    a) PC: Balbur’s Gate, Icewind Dalem Neverwinter Nights, The Elder Scroll.
    b) psone: Final Fantasy, Grandia, Wild Arms. (moral choice part)
    c) psp: Monster Hunter, Valhalla Knights, Phantasy Star (you get the picture)
    d) ps3: Recknoing, Final Fantasy (again)
e)ps vita: Conception, Ys, Valhalla Knights
    @Golwar
Mate you are note alone, in minority yes, but not alone.

Also, soul sacrifice is the most disgusting game I ever played. The graphics are like something out of the 7 seven circles of hell and the concept of sacrificing a soul is simple aberrant. Tested the demo for like 5 misisons deleted and never look back.

    theJJ88 29 May, 2014 @ 10:57 pm

Yeah, they are not RPGs and you guys ain’t alone.

It would be great to get another RPG in Monthly Games Collection.

    Finkhald 29 May, 2014 @ 11:40 pm

    @Golwar

Actually, Trine 2 was never part of the IGC. It was indeed offered with PS+, but before the IGC came to be. Which would put it sometime in early 2012, as you said, while after the start of the IGC, as misi2mezei pointed out.

    Nesther 30 May, 2014 @ 1:49 am

    @blackout_pt

There is absolutely no coherence in the list you posted.

Final Fantasy games have no moral choices. They are not more RPG than Dragon’s Crown.
RPGs do not cease to become RPGs just because they opt for real-time combat, like Vanillaware games or From Software games. They still are RPGs.

And how can you call Monster Hunter an RPG, yet Dragons Crown isn’t one? That makes absolutely no sense.

To me it seems like your definition of an RPG is: Games I like. And games you do not like/want are consequently not RPGs.

The thing is you’re wrong. Dragon’s Crown is an action RPG, Final Fantasy VII is a turn-based RPG, Disgaea is a turn-based strategy RPG. They are different types of RPGs, but they still ARE RPGs.

Thus we’ve had 2 RPGs in a row, and you have no grounds to complain.

Orenei 29 May, 2014 @ 3:39 pm   30

Awesome list, I will get everything this month.

Paranoimia 29 May, 2014 @ 3:39 pm   31

Won’t be bothering with any of those.

Still think Plus needs a revamp, with perhaps the option of a couple of movie rentals per month instead of the games, or something like that.

    AshesArise 29 May, 2014 @ 4:00 pm

that movie rental thing sounds like a great alternative, but knowing them they will put crap titles in those too

    matdub69 4 June, 2014 @ 5:26 pm

Given the state of the movie industry the chances of getting a good movie is small. I mean really really small. Like even smaller than really really really small.

DarkArchoNx66 29 May, 2014 @ 3:39 pm   32

Well, now at least now it’s crystal clear that you are just a bunch of scam artists without a shred of integrity. Nba 2k14 was the deal of the week a couple weeks ago, and now we are getting it on IgC. Excluding May, this is the second month in a row a sports game is coming to plus. What is next in store? Perhaps Fifa now the world cup is in order. Do not forget to put it on sale again, before July. That is pretty low, even for you. Though it is good to know how you operate, as if there were any doubts.. You already cheated us out of one game from what we signed up for without an explanation, and the last months for plus have been dreadful for obvious reasons having to do with cuts.

Dwse file me tous axristous. Dn ksana vazw gia olo tn xrono plus, mono 3mhnes ean m endiaferoun ta game. Gia emena dld auton tn mhna kai tn proigoumeno apolitws tpt. T dragons crown an htan gia ps3 tote hmoun komple alla oxi…. MONO PS VITA gia na gamame.

    Envirasu 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm

“Excluding May, this is the second month in a row a sports game is coming to plus.”
So… not two months in a row, then. It’s not a row if you exclude the middle option. >_>

    Rochala 29 May, 2014 @ 3:49 pm

Do you think it’s easy to get ps+ deals every month? Indeed it’s not the first time, but you have to get over it, it will happen again and I presume pretty soon, Batman for vita is on sale, but NA got it on plus, so most probably we will get it too.

You say the last months were dreadful, but that’s only your opinion, May had some great games, lot’s of people were asking for Muramasa, as lot of them were asking for Dragon’s crown sale. It’s just your opinion, nothing wrong here.

I agree that they changed plus and gave us 1 less game, without notice on the contrary they assumed us that it wont happen 2 month before they did it, but all in all if you have ps+ since the beginning the service becomes only better and today they also announced that we take 2 games for ps4, I am wondering how NA subscribers will react to this now.

    Alphaembryo 29 May, 2014 @ 3:52 pm

Imagine even the yearly games not changing… oh, wait, they wont be changing at all…!

    Rochala 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm

Who cares if they don’t give new yearly games, if they give more through the year ?

    Finkhald 29 May, 2014 @ 4:50 pm

    @Rochala
Actually, the US didn’t get Batman for Vita, and it’s not on sale either.

    Rochala 29 May, 2014 @ 5:46 pm

@Finkhald Yea I saw that now, I am pretty sure I saw it somewhere, but doesn’t matters that, my point is still valid :)

    DarkArchoNx66 29 May, 2014 @ 8:39 pm

Not even a response, I am not surprised. Now I am sure this wasnt a coincidence but rather a scam with a mastermind behind it. I bought 2k14 in the sale and now I am screwed. Who would have thought another sports game was in order after April and Pes, let alone after having been a deal of the week in the same month. The game itself was terrible but that isnt the point. Thank though for the valuable lesson.

    andraste123 29 May, 2014 @ 8:49 pm

If you bought the game at a sale, you must have thought that the game is worth it. And the fact that the game is now free shouldn’t change that. But i know how you feel (I also bought NBA 2K14 at a sale). While it is not the most honest practice to reduce the price of the game before it becomes free, it is a reasonable from the publishers point of view. It is also important to mention, that by buying the game you actually own it.

    DarkArchoNx66 31 May, 2014 @ 3:20 pm

    @Envirasu

Thanks, Captain obvious.. I was trying to make a point, hence not including May into the equation. But again, thanks for your input..

SGTSTEELFACE 29 May, 2014 @ 3:39 pm   33

Alright Il give it to you chris this is a gorgeous month for vita and love this direction so good month :)

SO…. when will the yearly games be swapped? (Gravity rush and Uncharted:GA say hi ;))

    Alphaembryo 29 May, 2014 @ 3:53 pm

    …they wont:

”In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out…”

    johnnycide 29 May, 2014 @ 3:55 pm

They won’t. They’re getting rid of the yearly games and giving us one more game a month (for the ps4). If you have all three consoles then that’s a pretty good deal, but it’s definitely going to annoy some.

    sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 3:57 pm

Like usual, they’ll be announce in an other post, maybe during E3 or in one or two weeks… Be patient !

But it looks complicated for PS Vita yearly games…

    SGTSTEELFACE 29 May, 2014 @ 4:03 pm

Update: Expletive, Expletive, Expletive Plus used to be for the consumers now they cut all its bells and whistles

    KylieDog 29 May, 2014 @ 4:17 pm

Sword, you need stop spamming that nonsense. If there were more coming it would be announced, even if the games names aren’t announced.

THey are going, we’re getting nothing. This has been made clear.

    johnnycide 29 May, 2014 @ 4:19 pm

    @sword15

“Like usual, they’ll be announce in an other post, maybe during E3 or in one or two weeks… Be patient !”

We didn’t have to be patient at all, check out Fred’s reply to post #2……

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 4:41 pm

Please see above, the yearly games are not going to be renewed moving forward

crnisokol 29 May, 2014 @ 3:40 pm   34

Hi Chris!

You posted that from July every game will be in IGC for one month, so I wonder if we’ll get yearly update next month (June)?

    singularity7uk 29 May, 2014 @ 4:14 pm

The yearly update is now dead and buried – its over, gone for good, no more.

“the annual ‘evergreen’ titles will not be replaced. Instead, you’ll be getting one additional PS4 game every month. “

BlackjackPDIF 29 May, 2014 @ 3:40 pm   35

Hi Chris, first comment here, just wanted to say the diversity of games in the IGC has really improved recently. Keep up the good work!

Quick question, can we upgrade the Plus version of NBA2k14 to the PS4 version at all? Thanks in advance!

    Envirasu 29 May, 2014 @ 3:47 pm

I could be wrong, but I think the PS3->PS4 upgrade system was a limited-time offer which has expired. Best wait for clarification, though. My memory isn’t all that reliable. ;D

    sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 3:57 pm

The upgrade program as expired !

    BlackjackPDIF 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm

You could be right, forgot about that! If only eh?!

    ipot_04 29 May, 2014 @ 4:00 pm

    No, I doubt that.
You get the NBA 2K14 PS3 version for free and just have to pay a small fee to play the PS4 version, that would be unfair.

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 4:42 pm

No sorry the PS3-PS4 upgrade programe was only for a limited time only I’m afraid

novurdim 29 May, 2014 @ 3:40 pm   36

And another question from the other friendly russian neibour: when dragon’s crown will be available in rus store?
NISA also said that they did their part and vita-version should have become available at the same time as ver. for ps3. But… it haven’t. So, well, what’s up? This issue is even more pressing after this post. Extremely pressing.

Vashetti 29 May, 2014 @ 3:40 pm   37

Two PS4 games every month? Awesome.

Die_Nasty_79 29 May, 2014 @ 3:40 pm   38

Great update guys! Well done on another super month.

Dante_Zero 29 May, 2014 @ 3:41 pm   39

Sorry I must be having a stupid moment here. So the yearly titles are still being replaced yearly (with the exception of psvita it seems) and thee normal plus service will be two games per month per platform?

    KaneTheGoth 29 May, 2014 @ 3:47 pm

Or.. they are dumping the yearly games and NOT replacing them. It’s hard to tell from the slightly ambiguous wording in the topic and no mention of the yearly changeovers…

    singularity7uk 29 May, 2014 @ 4:15 pm

The yearly update is now dead and buried – its over, gone for good, no more – seems clear to me from:

“the annual ‘evergreen’ titles will not be replaced. Instead, you’ll be getting one additional PS4 game every month. “

    KaneTheGoth 29 May, 2014 @ 5:32 pm

@Singularity: Yeah, it’s clear now. But that message wasn’t up when I posted.

BluSpykz 29 May, 2014 @ 3:41 pm   40

Some games I’d happily play here. Lone Survivor, Dragon’s Crown, Trine 2 and will even give NBA a whirl.

Am I (and most other people) right in thinking the “yearly titles” no longer exist?

ThreeWallzz 29 May, 2014 @ 3:41 pm   41

woah,I’m quiet startled!!

Crumptastic_86 29 May, 2014 @ 3:41 pm   42

Great list, great to have 2 PS4 games a month. However more important to me is the announcement around how titles will be available/rotated-it’s been hit and miss recently as to when we get the games announced and when they go live (I think we lost a month’s rotation somewhere this year…) so being transparent with the PS+ users about when we will get the games will make a lot of us happy :)

Also, it’s good to see some niche games on the list-too many of the AAA titles I’ve bought before-I never buy basketball games but will definitely give it a go this month! NHL is next on my list, please-I always enjoyed the punch-ups on the Mega Drive version!

pinkplaybunny 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   43

Oh good Trine 2 again… Dragon crown is the only one of interest for me this month.

sonofvenom 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   44

Hopefully, there wont be any whining about the cutting of the yearly update for a solid six games a month plan. It will make it far simpler to understand and there’s no ‘it’s not fair that this console gets less than this one’ nonsense either.

Nice to see Trine 2 on PS4 is free. It’s a lovely game. I’m even quite happy to try out NBA 2K14.

    irve77 29 May, 2014 @ 4:14 pm

    People will still complain
but most people would agree that 24 PS4, 24 PS3 and 24 Vita games each year is good value

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 4:44 pm

It’s not too bad if you ask me ;)

    hilts663 29 May, 2014 @ 4:54 pm

Since you are SCEE employee nobody asked you

    hilts663 29 May, 2014 @ 4:58 pm

Stop deleting my posts that you dont agree with, this is not North Korea… And yes, since you are SCEE employee your “opinion” is not appropriate

    WizzNL 29 May, 2014 @ 5:00 pm

Compared to the Plus content when Sony took my money it is bad. Even more so if you use PSN prices to do the maths. Worst thing though is Sony’s attitude atm, not even bothering to give a decent explanation. Its PS3 launch deja-vu.

    theJJ88 29 May, 2014 @ 5:53 pm

@broyds And I recommend you reading terms of service and stop picking fights. -.-

@WizzNL We all saw this one coming, didn’t we? After all that has happened lately. It was fun as long as it lasted, but we know that Sony doesn’t care about our opinions and can change Plus service as they want.

    fireaspider 29 May, 2014 @ 6:24 pm

well it was fair that PS4 got only 1 game a month , BECAUSE ITS A NEW CONSOLE ! if you excepted them to give you 2 games a month for a new console so your WRONG that is more disappointing ! now instead of the majority of Players whom got PS+ for PS3 for the games and services ( not as a requirement for online Play like the PS4 ) will get only 2 games a month and you know sony’s moves it will either be 2 indie games or 1 real full game and an indie game ( as this month ) , so thats a lost value for the PS3 and a mind trick for the PS4 , PS4 players were complaining their butts off that they get only 1 indie game a month , so to shut them up they gave them 2 indie games , now they have shut their mouthes up and called that a good update !

The point is : i call it fair to be still 3 games for PS3 ( since they are subscribed for the actual services and not as a requirement wether they didn’t want to sub to PS+ or not ) and the PS4 to be 1 game a month ( because( about 80% of players ONLY subscribed to PS+ for online play and they heard they give free games ) until we at least reach November ( so that 1 year has passed for the PS4 ) then make it 2 games a month for PS4 if possible , that can’t be more logical.

So 1 game for PS4 , 3 For PS3 ( the majority of the players that are subscribed for the services such as IGC….. ) , 2 for PS Vita is fine enough. and there is no need to cut the PS3 games to give the ps4 Players who only subbed for online play and knew about free games by accident 2 indie games a month and besides there are still not many games for PS4 but the new ones that no way will be in the IGC within this year.

    Stonesthrow 30 May, 2014 @ 7:59 am

@fireaspider : Naah this makes more sense imo. It doubles the ps4 backlog for people who haven’t made the jump from ps3 to 4 yet, giving them more reason to get one and stick to PLUS. And ps3 is last gen.. You have to realise that games for that generation are going to fade out eventually, it’s simply not present day anymore.. In fact I wonder how long they can manage two games, there’s barely anything left or anything still releasing for last gen..

    Teddy1590 11 June, 2014 @ 4:58 pm

@fireaspider Quit crying and buy a PS4. Even if they did this after a year of PS4 being out, you would still complain. I pay the same sub as you, and I have a PS3,PS4 and Vita. Why shouldn’t I get new content for the new console I spent £349 on just because you’re too cheap to upgrade?

dark_angel69 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   45

Disappointing for me. Last great month I’ve seen was… well don’t actually remember cos it was so long ago. Seems to keep getting worse each month. I remember a time when it was good and kept getting better each month. Now it’s going the opposite way. :( But suppose for a sports game that has to be good. Could been a lot worse.

WolfikCZ 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   46

the worst month ever

hayzink 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   47

Good thing there’s not been many ps4 sales as its not like ps3 where we get a good sale then its in plus.

Only 2 I can think of for me us steamword which I would think is almost 100% going to be in plus now and I also bought injustice which knowing my luck will be next month lol

jamiefinney 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   48

poor month this time :( nothing of interest for me.

shame its dropping to only 2 ps3 games a month so now i’m getting less for my subscription until i get a ps4.

    KylieDog 29 May, 2014 @ 4:19 pm

It’s been only two games for ages. Only US been getting three games.

    KaneTheGoth 29 May, 2014 @ 5:37 pm

US drop to 2 now, too

    rutea7 29 May, 2014 @ 7:59 pm

you can still get them from the psn browser store in order to download them once you get your ps4, playstation had already confirmed this. you’ll have a backlog before you get the system, lol

Rochala 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   49

Two ps4 games per month love it! Hopefully that’s means we will see retail ps+ games a bit sooner that what we hoped!
I don’t like the ps3 games, already have LS and not into sports, but ps4 and vita are great, even though I have Dragon’s Crown

Flipside666 29 May, 2014 @ 3:42 pm   50

Lone Survivor & Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate for me :) Thank you guys, i like the sound of the new Plus format. People need to stop complaining, i’m sure that there is something there for everyone, if not, well you cant please everyone all the time, just be happy the service exists and appreciate free stuff.

    blackout_pt 29 May, 2014 @ 8:05 pm

As a RPG fan, The only time I’ve been pleased on the ps3 was with Reckoning and never, ever in the ps vita. So thank you for dismissing the number one request in the poll they made last year. RPG was the most requested type and the less provided one.
Disclaimer: “Soul Sacrificing” is disgusting beyond words, “Muramasa” and “Dragon Crown” are not RPG, at best are Beat’N Up with some RPG components.

    Nesther 30 May, 2014 @ 2:07 am

As an RPG fan I’ve been really satisfied with Muramasa and Dragons Crown. They’re superb action-RPGs, Dragons Crown especially really evokes the feeling of classic Dungeons and Dragons.

It’s been the most requested genre, and we’ve gotten RPGs several times a row. You not liking the combat system doesn’t change the fact that they are indeed RPGs.

colmshan1990 29 May, 2014 @ 3:43 pm   51

Pixeljunk and Surge for me, I already own the rest (some of them on both PS3 and PS4!).

I think the best of the bunch is either NBA (I don’t follow basketball, but this is brilliant fun with friends, looks great and goes far beyond other sports games by building a proper story mode) or Trine 2, another stunning game which supports local multiplayer. It outputs in stereoscopic 3D too if you have a 3DTV, and looks unbelievably good while doing so.

Dragon’s Crown is fun although some of the design choices regarding the characters might get you some funny looks on the train. :P

Lone Survivor was a good experience on the Vita too, especially when wearing headphones.

A very good selection to be had here if you’re willing to try and explore it.

dogsuk 29 May, 2014 @ 3:43 pm   52

Think I’m gonna start buying my subscription on a month by month basis. Because the quality of games have been dreadful for the ps4 since I’ve had it. The ps3 selection is getting worse too. I bet the UK has the least amount of basketball fans than anywhere in the world…

counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 3:43 pm   53

Hey guys can somebody explain these lines: In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out, so if you’re new to the service and haven’t had a chance to download all of the titles available through PS Plus — or if you’ve been thinking about subscribing but haven’t yet — now is the perfect time to get all the great games available with PS Plus. – Does he mean that the yearly titles will be replaced or old ps plus titles will make a back up!

    hayzink 29 May, 2014 @ 3:48 pm

The yearly games will be taken off without replacements

    counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm

Oh thanks mate! That sounds ……. No words for it.

    Rochala 29 May, 2014 @ 4:03 pm

IT sounds bad, but considering that they are giving now a second ps4 game per month, it’s a good trade off.
People should also think outside the lines here, with 2 ps4 games it more likely that we will get retail titles sooner than later.

    pinkplaybunny 29 May, 2014 @ 4:07 pm

It really wasn’t very clear at all, but at least Fred did say in his comment above that we wouldn’t get the yearly swap outs as i hadn’t registered that at all from the actual post..

    singularity7uk 29 May, 2014 @ 4:23 pm

“the annual ‘evergreen’ titles will not be replaced.” – how more clear can that be?

Sicmay 29 May, 2014 @ 3:43 pm   54

Is this a fancy PR way of saying we will now be getting even less games with no yearly update. So more negative changes to ps plus and trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes…..
“Since we’ve seen how excited many of you are to download Instant Game Collection titles as soon as they’re available, we’ve decided to adjust the length of time each title will be available. Starting in July, every title in the Instant Game Collection will be available the first Wednesday of the month, and will be free for that month, until the first Wednesday of the following month.”

(Ps: do several year old pa3 titles now count as ps4)

    sonofvenom 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm

Only, we get 6 a month instead of 5, so… do the math and see if it’s still ‘less games’.

    DjangoDiabolik 29 May, 2014 @ 4:05 pm

We had 6 games in the first place, then they took one a way.

So yes, we’re still getting less games, despite the fancy marketing spin.

    sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 4:15 pm

    @sonofvenom :

    Before : 1 PS4 game, 2 PS3 games, 2Vita Games -> 6 games per month

    Now : 2 PS4 games, 2 PS3 Games, 2 Vita Games -> 6 games per month

    No change !

But we loosed the yearly games…

    WizzNL 29 May, 2014 @ 4:25 pm

    @Sword15:

Before PS4: 3 monthly PS3 titles, 2 motnhly Vita titles, 3 yearly PS 3 titles, 2 Yearly Vita titles.
    After PS4: 2 PS4 indie titles, 1 PS3 retail and 1 indie, 1 Vita retail and 1 indie

    Nothing changed, right?

    sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 5:25 pm

    @WizzNL : If you reed me, you’ll see that i’ve write :

“But we loosed the yearly games”

    WizzNL 29 May, 2014 @ 5:28 pm

@Sword15: Take a look at the list again, its not only the annual titles. A retail game ( on PSN ) is EUR 60,00 minimal, you can get most indies around EUR 10,00 / EUR 15,00 ( also on PSN ). Im sure you can do the rest of the maths.

    sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 7:09 pm

@WizzNL : that’s PS+ rules, one month we could have 4 AAA games, and the month after only One…
It always be like that since AAA can be in PS+…

Nobody well-minded can believe that we will have AAA PS4 games just 6 months after the PS4 come… So…

    K_C_1987 29 May, 2014 @ 7:28 pm

Shut up wizz. Always complaining. If you dont like it dont purchase the sub anymore. There all your issues sorted

@K_C_1987: I assume you are going to refund the already paid subscription fees? Or do you suddenly realise your reply doesnt make any sense, mr. Problemsolver? Maybe you should just skip my comments and at least solve your own issue.

@sword15…… You need to check out you maths dude there clearly is a change! Because 1 PS4 game, 2 PS3 games, 2 PSV games comes to 5 not 6, so in actual fact the most recent change benefits us as we now get the 6th PS3 game we lost with newly added form of a 2nd PS4 game.

    InfinityOnH1gh 7 June, 2014 @ 3:16 am

    “Before : 1 PS4 game, 2 PS3 games, 2Vita Games -> 6 games per month
    Now : 2 PS4 games, 2 PS3 Games, 2 Vita Games -> 6 games per month

Maybe fewer games per month would be a good thing. You’d have more time to study basic maths.
    1 + 2 + 2 = 5.
    2 + 2 + 2 = 6

    5 =/= 6

JoshHood 29 May, 2014 @ 3:44 pm   55

Sweet month! :D

Is there any chance of us getting Terraria in the months to come like the US?

    DemonLtG_ 2 June, 2014 @ 9:22 am

Yes I believe that in June (This Month!!!) that we will be getting it for PS Vita.
Sadly for me though I only have Ps3 … :p
anyway fingers crossed they release for June PS3 line up.

DjangoDiabolik 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm   56

Good change up to the format. I’d much rather have two PS4 games a month.

On the worrying side however, your phrasing makes it sound like you aren’t going to replace the yearly titles.

TheDaftTool 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm   57

*Sigh* I think that I am going to do myself a favor and avoid the Blog in future. All I end up doing is getting stressed. I honestly don’t see much point me renewing in December.

Great entries for PS4. Well, small games, but I don’t expect AAA’s so soon, but in the indie category, really great, will try both probably. Vita – it’s the winner here, with the amazing Dragon’s Crown. PS3 got the short end of the stick this month, with another sports game.

SHEPOWY 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm   59

“In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out”. Does this mean XCOM, UC3 and LBP Karting will be replaced with three other titles or have we lost 3 PS3 games staying on Plus throughout the year for good? If it’s the former can we get news on the games replacing them at E3 please :D

hayzink 29 May, 2014 @ 3:45 pm   60

Why are people asking about the yearly titles?

Its pretty clear from the post that the yearly titles on ps3 and vita will be taken off soon with no replacements.

Seems pretty clear this time.

alpsuk 29 May, 2014 @ 3:46 pm   61

Question for Chris – I bought the PS3 version of NBA 2K14 with the PS4 upgrade voucher which I used to buy the PS4 version of the game. With NBA 2K14 on ps plus does that mean I wont need my PS3 disk in the drive to play the PS4 version?

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 4:48 pm

The system should recognise that you have PS3 downloaded and therefore not need the disk but I would test it out to be 100% sure

    leequanton 30 May, 2014 @ 12:01 am

It doesn’t. I bought Assassin’s Creed 4 in sale for PS3 in hipes that I could get rid of my disk copy and my PS4 still requires the disk inserted to play. Tried to get a refund from Sony because why would I need both digital and physical copies for PS3 and they told me tough luck.

    alpsuk 4 June, 2014 @ 9:23 pm

Just tried it and it still asks for the disk. Can this be fixed please?

Rastamadeus 29 May, 2014 @ 3:46 pm   62

I will happily complain about PS+ when the service goes a bit skewiff like it has been since around October-ish (as can anyone, whether it annoys people or not, if you’re not happy with something you pay for you can voice your worries). I will also happily rejoice about PS+ when it gets things spot on, such as the January update with DMC and Bioshock Infinite. This month is a bit of both, the PS4 and Vita offerings are luscious.

    Stonesthrow 30 May, 2014 @ 8:27 am

Meh, I don’t understand how you don’t get games like those on release.. In that case you wouldn’t want to see them in the IGC again.. If the good games aren’t even worth getting on release, then what is? For me those months with all the crazy blockbusters games always suck because I already own those games all the time, by the time they come to the IGC they’ve even gotten pricedrops in stores.. I think it’s great to see some games that get overlooked by the general public in a sea of well known brands. Puppeteer for example, is one of the best adventure games I’ve ever experienced, and it was on my list but I never got around to it.. That game alone has made my 2 year sub worth it :p Mercenary kings too, totally hit me by surprise which makes it even better. And if you don’t own the big blockbusters then you sure won’t own the hidden gems so no harm done on your side..

PIREDERAS 29 May, 2014 @ 3:46 pm   63

Nice selection of games! And a 2nd PS4 game per month, too! I think Trine 2 and Dragon’s Crown are highlights for me. I ‘ll try Surge Deluxe and Lone Survivor, too.

Can we expect some Ratchet and Clank games coming to the IGC, now that they have been added to the Store? Or at least a sale?

xion1116 29 May, 2014 @ 3:46 pm   64

Kind of funny people complain about Sports game, when before they were complaining about too many shooters. Everything in moderation folks. I suspected you’d leave the Yearly Update announcement to E3, its the kind of thing that it makes sense to announce there.

Nothing really for me this month, but I have enough of a backlog as is. Pity Dragon Crown isn’t cross-buy, would really have liked to play that on PS3. Oh well, a nice update anyway.

    xion1116 29 May, 2014 @ 5:54 pm

Saw the above posts from the team. No more yearly games… oddly doesn’t bother me. I can’t imagine the nightmare it must be to arrange for games to sit in the IGC for the whole year, so if you guys can focus more on great games for next month or the month after instead, then great. Honestly I’ve not had plus long enough to experience a yearly update so it felt like a nice bonus when I joined but its not something I’ve expected again.

Your going to get some (CENSORED) for this guys fair warning so good luck. Also small side note, can we see some RPG’s/JRPG’s in the IGC maybe in the future? Would be nice :)

supersmith2500 29 May, 2014 @ 3:47 pm   65

Very good month and three vita games is actually not that bad. But one minor mistake in the post. It’s already past 1st April, don’t you mean 4th June for the titles that are getting replaced?

    supersmith2500 29 May, 2014 @ 3:51 pm

I said three because I already got Dragon’s Crown as a retail copy and that’s for me.

Great month guys:-D

GrytEcHoG 29 May, 2014 @ 3:48 pm   67

Really great to see PS4 is now getting two games and this cross buy makes awesome as we are getting more games. Keep up Sony!

PS: Everyone who doesn’t like these offerings and hate PS4 games, please think about the library PS4 has and its not possible for them to give Full AAA games for free. Also sony is not in a good financial position which everyone knows. So, please support and they are doing their best to provide more.

blade1003605 29 May, 2014 @ 3:48 pm   68

I have a question.

Dragon’s Crown is unaveliable in Russian PS Store. You fix it, right, PS Team?

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 4:49 pm

    This should now be fixed

    skh_ep 29 May, 2014 @ 5:25 pm

Sorry Chris, Dragon’s Crown is still not available. I’ve tried the store in web browser and the store app from Vita. Only ps3 version and some gameplay videos are available for Russian store. Could you please pass this to the responsible team?
Or did you mean that it will be available after the store will be updated for the PS Plus June update?

Chungles 29 May, 2014 @ 3:49 pm   69

Pixel Junk is better on the Vita, as is Lone Survivor; NBA 2K14 is better on the PS4; we already got Trine 2 for free for the PS3; and that Surge thing looks like it was better on the NeoGeo… You’d think with Microsoft actually trying with their Games with Gold this month Sony would raise their game. Apparently not.

mathiasundgerrit 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm   70

this is (CENSORED) I bought a PS4 for 400€ and a PS+ membership an there are always toose (CENSORED) games what the hell is wrong with you why you dont bring games like on the PS3 to the PS4 ? Games like Killzone Watchdogs Need for Speed Rivals Fifa14 NBA2K14 I m really (CENSORED) off that you bring just low quality games I could play on my PS2 out on PS+ .

CurtisUKC 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm   71

Stimulating, mature, compelling games. Where are they?

Don’t want to play nba 2k14 on my dinosaur station 3, cheaped out on the ps4 version they have.

I wish we had a more meaningful subscription service where we would pay about 25 to 30 pounds a month and have access to the whole digital library as long as it’s active

Dissapointment and delays await…

Awesome. Will there be changes in the yearly collection? The ones in AMS were removed and are going to be changed? If yes, when and which games?

    @PDSJ
11 minutes isn’t that big of a difference. He could been reading the comments in the blog and Fred’s comment may not have been there on his screen while he was typing. The comments doesn’t refresh themselves so he would have to refresh the whole page and look through all the previous comments again to have spot that.

NIALLERMANBUZ 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm   73

I’m sorry but Basketball? Football I understand, but Basketball? Sports games are one of those niche genres (Basketball in particular) where the people who want it will have bought it already…really don’t understand the thinking behind it, other than getting lower quality games onto the IGC. A real pity Dragons Crown isn’t cross platform.

Good job on two titles on the PS4 though, I can’t complain on that :)

    xion1116 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm

We saw a similar trend with shooters here for a while where we got one if not two every month. Sports games will probably be the same for a little while, it just one of those things we have to deal with I think.

I doubt its easy to get games in the IGC especially in the current climate. They probably worked out a deal with a publisher or two somewhere along the line which is why were seeing a sports game regularly atm.

    DarkArchoNx66 29 May, 2014 @ 5:06 pm

Exactly. And those who did not would have bought it in the recent sale. It cannot be a coincidence but rather a scam with a mastermind behind it. I got it and regretted hours later before I knew how they planned to deceive us. I did not think we’d be getting another sports game so soon. And for that I am angry, but also know better about the kind of business they are running.

    DemonLtG_ 2 June, 2014 @ 9:25 am

    KEEP MY PS3 GAMES.
    PS4 is so expensive.
    But anyway cool lineup

KingAndaval 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm   74

Is that not a screen-shot from NBA2K14 on the PS4?

Bit misleading if so…

SHEPOWY 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm   75

I’m fine with the titles we do have this month though, i think it’s great we have 2 PS4 titles now, but i do yearn for an RPG on PS3/4 since we haven’t had one since Dragon’s Dogma.

Also, this month would have been an ideal time to offer Dragon’s Crown for Vita and PS3 seeing as they aren’t cross-buy i don’t think. Good work all the same considering this time last year is pretty barren in terms of releases (aside from the obvious anomaly of The Last of Us).

Lucreto 29 May, 2014 @ 3:50 pm   76

Thank you

Another excellent month.

MatosPT 29 May, 2014 @ 3:51 pm   77

That’s great! Recently sold my PS3 to focus only on my Vita and PS4 and it’s great to also see SCEE starting to change it’s efforts towards the PS4!

All in all, Plus keeps being a great service! As Kevin Butler would say, Long Live Play! :)

JezPSN 29 May, 2014 @ 3:51 pm   78

Seriously why does the monthly PS+ update always produce such strong complaints? I for one think the revamp makes a lot of sense since:

1) Yearly titles were rarely talked about so new subscribers may not have known they existed anyway
2) 2 PS4 titles every month means there’s more incentive to get a PS4
3) The non monthly Vita titles hadn’t been replaced since they were introduced
4) It means we are more aligned with the US IGC which everyone has been moaning about for ages

The game choices for this month are admittedly good but not great, neither of the Vita games appeal to me and the two PS4 games are once again indie games which don’t exactly look “next gen.” Regardless these changes to the IGC means I will be getting more value out of my subscription which is always a good thing!

You should change “Futurelab” to “FuturLab” in the text. The link is also wrong.

Avengerrr 29 May, 2014 @ 3:52 pm   80

I think probably the fine edge of this months content is the fact that there are four games for Vita there, with one of them being a nice juicy one less than a year old. Nothing else there for me in fact, seeing as I haven’t the foggiest about an AMERICAN sport, and Lone Survivor seems best suited to a handheld rather than a console. Vita fights the way for a change.

pinkplaybunny 29 May, 2014 @ 3:53 pm   81

But instead of Lone Survivor I would be more happy with Castle of Illusion or Skullgirls (already in US IGC)

    johnnycide 29 May, 2014 @ 4:03 pm

I played it in school once. Didn’t care for it, still don’t.

OnionMarmalade 29 May, 2014 @ 3:54 pm   82

So in the last 2 months we got 3 sports games and 3 games where you walk to the right or to the left endlessly. Variety!

    johnnycide 29 May, 2014 @ 4:04 pm

Now that’s a bit mean. In this one you get to walk from the left to the right as a woman with a massive backside.
    See? Totally different!

chad1990 29 May, 2014 @ 3:54 pm   83

A sports game which isn’t in everyone’s sporting tastes. And yet another bunch of Indie games…
Doesn’t even look like we get actual fullscale games this month…
Where are the yearly games and the RPGs eh??

Ovplain 29 May, 2014 @ 3:56 pm   87

Thanks a million for sticking it up my bum with NBA 2K14! Thanks for tricking me into buying it in your ‘weekly sale’ hardly 3 weeks ago. Really appreciate it, mr. Howe!

    andraste123 29 May, 2014 @ 9:08 pm

If you bought the game at a sale, you must have thought that the game is worth it. And the fact that the game is now free shouldn’t change that. But i know how you feel (I also bought NBA 2K14 at a sale). While it is not the most honest practice to reduce the price of the game before it becomes free, it is a reasonable from the publishers point of view. It is also important to mention, that by buying the game you actually own it.

Bi napisal po naše, samo bi se potem ostali počutili izključeni ;)

FallingStickman 29 May, 2014 @ 3:56 pm   88

Somewhat disappointing update. It seems like indies are taking over the PS+.

online coop for pixeljunk shooter whould be awesome

Charliesauce 29 May, 2014 @ 3:57 pm   90

I have Trine 1 & 2 on Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. But I can’t wait to see some new mechanics with the PS4.

The others are games I haven’t purchased and I will give them all a go. NB2K14 is Obviously a big franchise and I’d be a fool to try and not master it, even a little bit. After all It’s the American equal to Fifa 14.

I’ll give the others a try, but I really do need more space. on my PS Vita (16Gig + 32Gig), PS3 (Upgraded 1TB) and my PS4 (500Gig default, trying to find a good replacement)

Dante_Zero 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm   91

I do like the new format but I don’t want to see an end to yearly titles. Whats frustrating about it all is if I want to complain with my wallet I cant because I have to have playstation plus to access multiplayer on my PS4 so for me as a consumer I have to agree to the changes or lose multiplayer and thats not really a win win for anyone tbh.

hilts663 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm   92

Pathetic! It used to be 10 games for PS3 and now we are stuck with 6 across 3 systems??? As a person who does not own PS4 i see no point in paying PS+ becose of this “awesome update”… Get your (CENSORED) together guys, this is just sad

irve77 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm   93

Wow … mark it in your calendar.

this is the month Games with gold started to be better than PS+

normally I would be saying a nice little selection , varied , interesting

But with the games with gold offering being better this month I’m jealous of them .. obviously not jealous enough to buy an Xbone :) but still jealous

    Porcupeth00 29 May, 2014 @ 3:59 pm

    Nope. PS+ still better.

    crnisokol 29 May, 2014 @ 4:05 pm

PS+ got gone slightly worse after PS4 release, but it’s still good service

Games with gold was, and still is pretty bad…

    irve77 29 May, 2014 @ 4:27 pm

    @Porcupeth00

I agree with you in general but I would take their selection this month easy SSF4 and Dark Souls are more than a month’s entertainment.

    crnisokol 29 May, 2014 @ 5:27 pm

    @irve77
just seen Games with gold offering for June…yeah, it’s better than Plus this month…and I thought I would never have to say that :(

    Porcupeth00 29 May, 2014 @ 6:31 pm

Well I already have both of those. They’ve been cheaper than Dragon’s crown or NBA ever were

    S3v3r14n 30 May, 2014 @ 12:51 am

I have a PS3 and a 360 – I agree – for me at least, this is the first time that Games with gold is better than the PS+ offering. Unfortunately, with the permanent drop to 2 titles per month (yeah, yeah, I know, games for Vita and PS4 – haven’t got either and can’t afford to any time soon) and the removal of the yearly games, I think that GWG will continue to be at least a match for PS+ from now on – especially as I can still play games on GWG if my subscription lapses unlike PS+.

    crnisokol 30 May, 2014 @ 6:22 am

    @S3v3r14n
I believe that Microsoft went on the same model as Plus recently – renting you games not giving…

    S3v3r14n 30 May, 2014 @ 9:56 am

    @crnisokol
Apparently that’s the model they’re adopting for Xbox One – 360 games are still yours to own permanently.

ipot_04 29 May, 2014 @ 3:58 pm   94

LOL! Why did the author of this post used a screenshot of the PS4 version of NBA 2K14 when the free one is the PS3 version?

redmattuk 29 May, 2014 @ 3:59 pm   95

Poor effort in my opinion

DjangoDiabolik 29 May, 2014 @ 4:00 pm   96

You can’t say we’re getting an extra game a month due to the addition of another PS4 game a month. We ORIGINALLY had 4 PS3 games a month, and now we only have 2. We’re getting less games a a result, not more.

You can spin it however you want, but taking away the annual refresh games isn’t getting us anything extra on PS4. This is an outright degrade, as many feared would happen when PS+ became mandatory for online.

DoYouLikeMyID 29 May, 2014 @ 4:01 pm   97

It seems some people are disappointed by this update, but I really like it! I’ve been considering the prospect of buying Trine 2 on PS4 for a while, and I’ve never tried Pixeljunk Shooter, so I certainly like the PS4 offerings (And that we now get 2 games each month!)

I’m not really interested in NBA 2K14, and I’ll probably try Lone Survivor on the Vita, so nothing on the PS3 for me this month, but I’ve got a huge PS3 backlog anyway. I mean, I just purchased 6 Prince of Persia games for PS3 in a recent sale, so I’m good for a while.

And I’ve also been considering buying Surge Deluxe for a while, since I’ve loved Futurlab’s other games, so getting it for free is awesome! And I’ve been hearing some really nice things about Dragon’s Crown, so I’m excited for that as well!

So overall a really great update for me :D

Ants_Pai 29 May, 2014 @ 4:01 pm   98

JEEPERS!!! That’s a ton of games!! Just got Injustice for my PS4 also, gonna have to buy a second controller next week I gues :3 Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!~

Hey Chris thank you so much for these its a nice welcome back to me since my last ps3 got bricked.

WanBarbosa90 29 May, 2014 @ 4:01 pm   100

too disappointing, especially for PS3 owners, horrible, at least they could have put Dragons crown cross buy. 3 months without anything interesting, do not renew my account next month

StateBiscuit 29 May, 2014 @ 4:01 pm   101

Was expecting a AAA title for PlayStation 4, but oh well. Will try these.

vivan000 29 May, 2014 @ 4:02 pm   102

“Surge Deluxe from the team at Futurelab”
They’re FuturLab. And linked website is completely unrelated to them ;)

CurtisUKC 29 May, 2014 @ 4:02 pm   103

PlayStation plus is a waste might as well take out a rental service and play things you definitely want to play.

    Nesther 30 May, 2014 @ 2:10 am

PS Plus is great because it gives you access to games you probably would’ve overlooked otherwise. It broadens your horizon so to say and offers you variety.

unbiased 29 May, 2014 @ 4:03 pm   104

meh, seems xbox games with gold is getting stronger each month, and ps plus is getting worse, no wonder they made it compulsory to have for ps4 online or alot of people would be cancelling.
Ive always been on the sony bench but each month im getting less and less bothered about the ps plus subscription (not free i should add ) games that are getting released

crackalakaling 29 May, 2014 @ 4:03 pm   105

Good update, thanks, never played NBA before will be interested to see if I can get into it, always looking for games to play against my brother. (Get beat most the time). If your still taking suggestions for games, any chance of ratchet and clank nexus joining the IGC?

dee4life4444 29 May, 2014 @ 4:03 pm   106

So didspointed yet again. I sold my PS3 as soon as the PS4 was released and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Big mistake. Should have kept the PS3. These games just are’t good enough to make the subscription worthwhile.

hilts663 29 May, 2014 @ 4:05 pm   107

“Awesome update”… Instead of 10 PS3 games Im now stuck with 2 games with almost no value… For a person without PS4, PS+ just became useless

RayDD 29 May, 2014 @ 4:06 pm   108

As great as this update and reformat is for PS4 and Vita owners, I can’t help but feel really underwhelmed by the PS3 reforms. For someone like me who subscribes purely for the PS3 offerings, this drastic reduction in PS3 content is sadly quite disappointing, in particular if we lose the yearly games and only get two a month. Unless they are top quality PS3 games from here on out, it’ll be a real shame for PS3 owners like me. Not complaining, just my opinion :)

The worst thing is that PS3 owners supported Sony voluntarily by subscribing. But I guess SCEE don’t care since they have our money now and have forced everyone on the ps4 to sign up.

hilts663 29 May, 2014 @ 4:06 pm   109

At this point, it is better to rent games online or buy them and sell them

    dark_angel69 29 May, 2014 @ 11:06 pm

I think that’s what they are aiming for. Make people buy more games by giving us games we don’t want

LieutenantFatman 29 May, 2014 @ 4:06 pm   110

Great stuff, looking forward to playing these, think I need a bigger memory card for my Vita!

G-IH-O-S-T 29 May, 2014 @ 4:07 pm   111

2 PS4, 2 PS3, and 2 Vita games? we’re finally getting so much out of our subscription’s money? it was worth the wait
even though I’m not particularly interested in NBA it’s still pretty damn good.. this whole month’s IGC is so great! my Vita in particular will be SO busy..
I freakin love you right now..
Chris, that comment/tweet a while ago about how we’ll like it was actually legit :p

mrmook 29 May, 2014 @ 4:07 pm   112

I am VERY annoyed at the amount of negative comments on here.

for just over a £5 month you are getting access to 6 Games across 3 Platforms – what other service is offering anything close this? Be thankful I know that I am saving a FORTUNE on gaming because of PS+, without it I wouldnt have DMC, Resogun, Outlast etc etc

I have just bought Dragons Crown and I LOVE it.
I am v.much looking forward to Trine 2 & Lone Survivor

Dont stress Fred, Chris et al, haters gonna hate…

    counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 5:27 pm

    I feel ya mate! :)

    crnisokol 29 May, 2014 @ 5:32 pm

most people aren’t complaining about value for your money, they are complaining about decrease of that value…
since Plus is mandatory for PS4 online gaming and Sony announced that about half of PS4 owners subscribed to Plus = do the math and you’ll see that got some nice profit there
but someway, by the games they are offering, it seems like IGC budget got cut in half since last year…

    S3v3r14n 30 May, 2014 @ 12:59 am

Don’t get annoyed fella! But many of us don’t have all three platforms – most have only one or perhaps two, so see 2 or 4 games a month as a major reduction on the offering from a couple of years ago. Sony really need to think of introducing a subscription based on the number devices registered.

dylanwiggan 29 May, 2014 @ 4:07 pm   113

Pretty awesome month, glad there is parity with the US now. Never played a 2K but only heard good things so cant wait to try that, plus 4 vita games!?! Nice work.

adumr82 29 May, 2014 @ 4:08 pm   114

Was really hoping for blackgate, especially as there was no discount yesterday. Disappointing.

I’ve no objection to the sports games, its only the second one I think, but the ps3 quality has dropped a lot even with us losing so many titles.

Golwar 29 May, 2014 @ 4:08 pm   115

Does anyone else wonder how long it took @sword15 to register that he defended Sony for naught?
He answered to so many others that of course the yearly titles would be announced later and that everyone was just far too suspicious. What tragic charade! ;)

    hayzink 29 May, 2014 @ 4:22 pm

I thought that as I have been going through posts.

As a ps4 owner in no way can I view this as a negative change as I’m not loosing anything.

But I understand people that don’t have one gain nothing from this change and loose out so :( for them.

Next month will be big for ps4 I expect 2 big games and they will prob announce them on stage at e3 while discussing plus a bit like they did with assassins creed

Sadly too many morons like Sword15 blindly defending the service without the full facts.

Farhad_Khan_ 29 May, 2014 @ 4:09 pm   116

Another sports game really? 3 awful months in a row :(

redmattuk 29 May, 2014 @ 4:12 pm   117

@Chris Howe – please could you tell us how much your budget for getting PS plus games into the IGC has been cut by?

Because it’s fallen off a cliff, really.

Grimmy11 29 May, 2014 @ 4:13 pm   118

Do people not read the post before complaining? It clearly says the annual games are being phased out. If we’re really lucky we’ll get a bonus game around E3 but I’d be surprised.

For the people still complaining about not getting retail PS4 games the console it’s what? seven months old? there just isn’t enough retail games out there yet that publishers will be willing to give away with plus this early every month. retail games will come in time, be patient, and try some of these indie titles, you’re missing out ;-)

and people complaining about getting sports games, I know we’ve had two recently but it wasn’t long ago everyone was complaining about just getting shooters, it’s about balance. And just because you personally aren’t interested in a particular sports game it doesn’t mean everybody else feels the same.

everyone gets so angry, just relax and enjoy some great value games.

for me:

Pixeljunk Shooter: never really been interested but will definitely give it a go
Trine 2: enjoyed the demo and liked it but never bought, quite happy with this

NBA 2k14: I own this on PS4 so pretty useless to me, good game though.
Lone Survivor: been interested in this for a while so quite excited.

I don’t own a Vita YET so those games are irrelevant to me.

Overall a decent month though.

    Tommy-G- 29 May, 2014 @ 6:16 pm

The joys of the ‘entitled’ generation.

Possibly the best service to happen to the PS brand ever, yet people will still find reason to complain.

If Sony gave away Watchdogs, Infamous, Dark Souls 2, Minecraft, BL2 Vita and GoW Vita Collection, people would STILL complain about something.

sword15 29 May, 2014 @ 4:13 pm   119

Ouch ! You really cancelled yearly games ?
That’s rude !

OK, you give us 1 more PS4 games per month, but it cost 1 PS3 games per month (that’s normal) plus the entire yearly games ? Rude !

Maybe just give not the 3 but 2 ou at least 1 yearly games was better…

I wich you’ll give us more serious PS4 games really quick for that price !

Play station step your game up for ps4!!!! Your marketing is shocking, wanting people to come over to play station plus but yet you give ps3 twice as many games as well as mainstream games. No wonder hardly anyone ia buying playsation plus for ps4 cause your giving us (CENSORED) games that only 1 out of 3 people want. I would of thought that u would of given playsation 4 more games as it is ur next gen console and you want more people to come over !!!!

Does this mean that the “yearly” games are not being replaced with new games? The post is not clear about this.

The yearly games will be leaving on 11th June and will not be replaced

Chris could you have been more vague in your choice of wording about the yearly games not being replaced? Or perhaps that was your intention… ever considered a career in politics?

    Tommy-G- 29 May, 2014 @ 6:11 pm

From whats been said, they won’t be replaced. Instead, you’ll get the extra PS4 game per month.

Great with 2 ps4 games this month but it’s getting annoying with just get ports and 2D every month. This month we get 2 ps3 ports for the PS4. May we got stick it to the man another ps3 port. April Dead Nation, yet another ps3 port. March Mercenery Kings not a ps3 port but a retro 2D game that only appeal to a few :/. Februari Outlast. GREAT MONTH. Januari Don’t Starve GREAT MONTH. 2013 Resogun and Contrast GREAT MONTH.

Please pring back the GREAT months for PS4!! Indies are great.but I want indie games MADE for the PS4 and not ports from the PS3.

Sweet mother of Jesus! This is awesome. Can’t wait to play Dragon’s Crown. Ever since it came out I was waiting for a price cut. Thankfully, I waited long enough and you saved me £25. I might get it on ps3 eventually to support the developers.

hilts663 29 May, 2014 @ 4:21 pm   133

Seriously SONY, 2 games per system is pathetic… Almost as pathetic as Microsoft’s free (literally free not just rented) games… As if that wasnt the worst part you are acting like we should thank god for this miracle? Pathetic, pathetic… PS3 games are getting cheap and what do you do? Take yearly games away… If this is some kind of a joke and you will announce at E3 yearly games bear in mind that games dont like this behaviour, just look at Microsoft

    hayzink 29 May, 2014 @ 4:27 pm

Fact check – Microsoft’s games with gold now follows the exact format of plus , you lose access to games when you don’t have gold.

72 over three consoles. Jesus people are so thick. I own a ps3, thats it. PS3 is being effectively cut from 40 or so games a year to 25 and yet i’m still paying the same for a sub(well not anymore going forward)

Great selection thankyou.Trine 2 looks amazing in 3d and thanks for all the cross buys.Playstation plus is amazing value almost to good to be true, i save my subscription cost many times over on discounts alone. Please ignore all the whingers the truly want something nothing.

Captain__Chunk 29 May, 2014 @ 4:26 pm   135

Hmmm, not much for me this month. Trine 2 has already featured in the PS+ line up (in 2012 no less). Slightly better graphics aren’t enough to tempt me back.

And NBA? Seriously!?

I guess they must shift a few copies across the region as they keep on churning them out year after year, but a netball sim is not one for the euromasses imho, so way to alienate your customers.

Stil, at least there are no first person shooters for a change so, you know, swings and roundabouts…

JezPSN 29 May, 2014 @ 4:27 pm   136

I would love to see the following Vita titles introduced in the coming months (basically a wish list): Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Killzone: Mercenary, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Walking Dead: Season 1, Borderlands 2 (maybe a year from now?), Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, God of War Collection (again a while from now)

Fingers crossed for any of these!

    SGTSTEELFACE 29 May, 2014 @ 4:34 pm

i doubt you will see borderlands 2 we already had that on ps3 and god of war collection is doubtful as we got GOW for free at some point as well oh and most wanted on ps3

    JezPSN 29 May, 2014 @ 4:39 pm

True but Borderlands 2 on Vita comes with a bunch of DLC so it’s not the exact same game. I agree GOW and Most Wanted are doubtful but like I said wish list :-)

thanks for the NBA game

TiagoPT 29 May, 2014 @ 4:29 pm   138

Some people are never pleased.

I am looking forward to Trine 2 and Dragon’s Crown, the value of PS+ has already exceeded itself for me, although next year I do expect to see more AAA games and less indie games; I understand for the first year when there are not many AAA games yet, but 2015 PS+ should be full of them. Hopefully Sony don’t rest on their laurels with PS4 doing so well and PS+ being required for multiplayer…

ste_the_legend 29 May, 2014 @ 4:35 pm   141

TBH I’m just happy that the price of PS+ isn’t increasing because that is what I was expecting when I started reading Chris’ post.

I don’t have any issue with the selection of games this month or any other to be honest. I accept that the service has to evolve and this seems like a fair way of doing it.

I haven’t played 4 of the 6 games this month so that’s a good selection in my opinion.

You are never going to please everyone and I think Sony are doing a great job with PS+ and also most of the recent sales.

So no PS3 “AAA” title and on a genre that so few people asked for in the vote? Awful month, should the year long games not be updated too?

Breadd_93 29 May, 2014 @ 4:55 pm   150

When you say “every title in the Instant Game Collection will be available the first Wednesday of the month, and will be free for that month, until the first Wednesday of the following month”. Does that mean the games are only accessible to play during that period? Or does that mean the games are only free to download during that period (as normal)?

    Chris Howe 29 May, 2014 @ 5:19 pm

They are only available to download during that time, as long as you download them and you are a member you will be able to play them as usual

    blackout_pt 29 May, 2014 @ 8:25 pm

@Chris, your post requires some clarification. If I “buy” a game during the monthly periiod will I be able to download it three months later? Or, if I don’t download the game during the monthly period, I will never be able to download it in the future? Please clarify this point.

LordRastan 29 May, 2014 @ 4:56 pm   151

Hi Chris,

Please be so kind to listen to my feedback:

It’s a mistake to banish the yearly games (well, the fixed titles).

I know the people are tired of seeing this games every month, most of them have been for a while.

But new customers, the ones who arrive home, with it’s brand new console and ps plus subscription, are glad to see they have the monthly games plus 2 more iconic games from the console layout…

It’s not too far in the past for me (september 13) and I still could recall the wow effect, having gravity rush and golden abbyss day one… as well as the other games…

Please think about it… new plus customers love to have a real Instant Game Collection, not only a couple of games.

Ah.. and let me congratulate all the team for this great month, 4 vita games, that´s more than I hoped.

Thanks for everything, and keep the good work.

Regards

johnnycide 29 May, 2014 @ 4:56 pm   152

Nothing for me this month, I already have Lone Survivor. As far as NBA, I appreciate that some people are confused, but Basketball is pretty popular in Europe. I know a few people who are huge fans, one who played in our local youth team when we were kids (Toxteth Tigers FTW!).
I like that we’re now getting an extra game for PS4 as well, and hopefully the titles will improve as more games come out. We all want AAA, but from the developers and publisher’s standpoint it doesn’t make much sense.
If I pay 40 quid a year and get four good games, I’ve got my money’s worth. If I end up getting 10 out of 72 games that year that I enjoy, I’ve had my money’s worth.
I can’t say I’m happy about the vagueness of some of the terms that Fred and Chris use, but I can say that I’m still not going near Micros**t.

It’s not really sarcasm when you feel the need to point out that you are being sarcastic…

AngryOctopi 29 May, 2014 @ 5:09 pm   156

YEAH! Pixeljunk + Trine = A LOT OF GAMING

Dermado 29 May, 2014 @ 5:14 pm   157

Yknow, given that Vita and then PS4 kept nerfing the PS3 things, I wouldnt mind a different service for all. Either a “general mix”, “PS3″ “PSVita” and “PS4″ only options, or giving us 6 “slots” and a variety of different games to choose from to build our own month?
Never gunna happen or be commented on by the staff at SCEE, but it makes so much more sense than the system we have in place now.

Sohus 29 May, 2014 @ 5:18 pm   158

Some observations:

Old system: 65 titles (5*12 = 60) available 1 month of the year plus 5 evergreens (available 1 full year)
New system: 6 * 12 = 72 titles

So no matter what everyone says here, we get more games. As it makes sense to ‘purchase’ games once they become available in PS Plus, I don’t see big advantages in the older system. For Sony, the main advantage is that they have to hand-out less ‘yearly’ titles to more people (who subscribe at different moment in the year).

Communication from Sony is horrible though. The blog post above is also very vague about what is happening.

It also seems that the titles will disappear at the end of the month and will only be replaced on the first wednesday, which can be the 6 day of a month. So that means the availability will be shorter, as suggested in the blog post. It will also mean that there won’t be any IGC titles for up to 6 days at a time.

    eyesofvenus 9 June, 2014 @ 10:23 pm

Yes but before it was spread over two consoles, now ots spead over three. 65 titles before(say 40 ps3 and 25 vita). Now 24 PS4, 24 PS3(which will be eventually phased to zero and PS4 won’t be increased) and 24 vita. Vita is probably still running the same amount but massive reduction for ps3 users, who est we not forget are playing on the console with the most amount of titles + pay the same as PS4 and vita subscribers

clemyeats 29 May, 2014 @ 5:21 pm   159

Oh wow!! I didn’t expect this at all :) The games are brilliant, cross buy pushes the number of Vita titles to 4 new games this month and I love the changes you announced!

umusuarioqualque 29 May, 2014 @ 5:24 pm   160

No New yearly update and now this is 3rd bad month in a row for me (Only miami hotline was cool and I liked payday 2 a little.), another sport game?
Just Lone survivor for me.

Well the chances for me to renew my yearly sub again will be 5% since i don’t have a ps4 or vita yet.
What happened with the AAA Rpgs, action games, fps, adventures games, racing games?
Too bad it was good until it lasted :(

Let’s see if in the following months ps+ will be good again or be better than it was before.

solodoche 29 May, 2014 @ 5:28 pm   161

A better system in my opinion!
Looking forward to Lone Survivor and Dragon’s Crown.

PT_Lad 29 May, 2014 @ 5:30 pm   162

Really happy that we’re getting NBA. And much prefer the extra PS4 game to the yearly choices. The only game that doesn’t interest me is Surge Deluxe! Thanks guys. Now i’m off to play some more Watch_Dogs. (Oh and a quick message for those who still whine about IGC every month – If you want a game so bad, here’s an idea. GO AND BUY IT and stop acting so entitled. There’s lots of games that have come on the IGC that i already purchased. It’s just down to the luck of the draw, there are people out there who haven’t experienced certain games and I don’t begrudge them that opportunity because i’m not selfish or self consumed. Sony has spoilt us with great free games in the past and it’s starting to show with how some people act on these comment sections). I really didn’t mean to offend anyone but it annoys me sometimes. And i know that’s my problem not yours. But if you can complain to Sony about the things you don’t like about them in a public space, then surely I can do the same to you! Happy Gaming :)

DJROE95 29 May, 2014 @ 5:33 pm   163

Although a little disappointed about how the evergreen titles are gonna’ go and that plus games have slipped in quality……

I’m really looking forward to playing 6 new games each month, found lots of hidden gem’s that I would never have played and its only just over £3 a month!

CloudBelmont 29 May, 2014 @ 5:34 pm   164

Cool month, but i wish there was Terraria like US PS+.

flashmozzg_vt 29 May, 2014 @ 5:37 pm   165

ATTENTION TO PSN STAFF!
There was probably a mistake with Dragon’s Crown and only PS3 version is present in RU store. NO VITA VERSION!

stu123 29 May, 2014 @ 5:41 pm   166

When do we find out what will be replacing the games that have been on a long time.

    counterUAVbaby 29 May, 2014 @ 5:43 pm

The yearly will not be replaced they will be gone in 11 of June! They will never release yearly titles ever again.

Churuya-nyan 29 May, 2014 @ 5:50 pm   167

Chris plz answer #11

stathmos 29 May, 2014 @ 5:59 pm   168

Great PS4 and Vita games, PS3 not so much… anyway, thanks for the upgrade to an already unbelievable service!

Jamesyp00 29 May, 2014 @ 6:09 pm   169

Lone survivor and dragon’s crown thank you :)
Gonna carry on NBA on the Xbone.
Can you guys please stop giving out Trine 2 though, it’s so dull!

fcham 29 May, 2014 @ 6:10 pm   170

Chris and Fred, I think that it is good that you described way of plus in future (instead of just change it without word) and I appreciates it. For me it is not good changes but I get it so I have question for you:
I would like to know how plus subscribtion works. In my case my subscription expired at the begining of last month and I had canceled automatic renewing of subscription (before it expired). I had left someting like 12euro in my wallet (for future shopping) and I thougt that automatic renewing only works when it is allowed and takes money directly from card. Obviously it was renewed from my wallet. OK my mistake but now my plus will expire on 6 june and I have removed my card from account and in wallet is nothing. This way plus will not be reneved – my question is when in future I will add some founds in my wallet for buying something is safe to presume that money will not be taken(to renew plus again) before I will buy item I want to buy? Or is dangerous time to add founds only every 6th day in month when automatic renew will be done?
And also: If I will renew my subscription after some months will I be able to get all titles I played in time I had Plus or this changed also somehow?
thanks

wils_69nd_u 29 May, 2014 @ 6:11 pm   171

I think that’s a great change to the IGC, it’s a lot simpler and we know we will be getting 6 games a month. The yearly titles were either ones i completed ages ago or aren’t interested in anyway. I don’t have a PS4 yet but when i do as soon as I take it out the box my back log is gonna be HUGE haha. Nice update too Lone Survivor is a game I’ve been looking at since release and will give NBA a go sure it’s fun

adumr82 29 May, 2014 @ 6:13 pm   172

I’m actually really annoyed at Fred for hinting the service was going to improve only for it to be slashed. This may be good news for ps4 only customers but shows what you think of the rest of us.

    Tommy-G- 29 May, 2014 @ 6:30 pm

You don’t find it fair that they are balancing it out over the three platforms?

    adumr82 29 May, 2014 @ 6:38 pm

Not really no, we already had one PS3 title stripped back. They’ve pretty much just returned the number of titles to the previous level, only now all yearly ones are lost also. They haven’t even attempted to sweeten it by trying to offer really top titles the first month of doing this which I don’t think bodes well.

    adumr82 29 May, 2014 @ 6:39 pm

When I last signed up it was on the promise that the PS4 wasn’t affecting PS3 Plus. Now look where we are. Do you consider broken promises fair?

    KaneTheGoth 29 May, 2014 @ 7:50 pm

    Completely agree adumr82.
Since the PS4 hit we’ve had these chanhes (when we were absolutely told the PS3 service would NOT be affected

-One entire publish per year less
-1 less PS3 game per month
-No yearly titles for any system; even though the Vita users (not me) were told their yearly list WOULD update last year!

So we lose AAA yearly games like Uncharted 3 and LBP Karting — and what comes in return? Probably an extra Indie for PS4 users per month!

Now Plus is NEEDED for online gaming, they have significantly changed the dynamics of Plus. Why? Because they can.

One up for the Corporate, one down for the People.

not a bad month, trine 2 the complete story is a surprise i was waiting for that to go on sale too so thanks for that, not a big fan of sports games so won’t be playing that but the rest of the games are good. and i think that is fair, 2 for each platform to balance everything out, jut a bit upset that the US got batman origins on vita though.

evilwitch83 29 May, 2014 @ 6:21 pm   174

Great news. This new system means that we will finally have equality with US on the number of plus games available.

Looking forward to playing Dragons Crown, Lone Survivor and Surge Deluxe.

interceptor316 29 May, 2014 @ 6:21 pm   175

hey any chance of getting any fighting games like soulcalibur or tekken tag in the coming months it has been a while since we got a good fighting game the last one was DOA5

PJB-11 29 May, 2014 @ 6:21 pm   176

Three Vita offerings! And two that I really wanted! Very nice. But on the downside I might have to delete some stuff as my 64GB is nearly full!

Joolesasher 29 May, 2014 @ 6:26 pm   177

Never thought I’d actually let go of Plus, but this isn’t what I paid for. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good value for the money, but the quality of the service has slowly but steadily shrunk since last year, and I’m not in the habit of letting people take me for granted and just accepting things.

So as constructive criticism – you’ll lose my subscription fee not because that Plus isn’t worth the money, but because of how poorly all of this has been handled.

    KaneTheGoth 29 May, 2014 @ 7:53 pm

    Well said!

Sadly Sony’s policy of “blank the customers” seems to have worked. Now when people dare to critise the changes to Plus (prior to today), they get howled down by other PS users telling them they’re acting entitled!

Well.. things HAVE changed, and negatively. Too many people just roll over and accept it!

Porcupeth00 29 May, 2014 @ 6:29 pm   178

I’m gonna get slapped for going OT, but after Shadow Warrior was confirmed for Summer release and 1080p/60fps on PS4, any idea when we’ll know the actual release date (other than just Summer)?

sporeboy100 29 May, 2014 @ 6:30 pm   179

that awkward feeling that the XBOX ONE has better offerings in the first month of its free game service than what the PS4 has had in 6 months

Kotatsu2000 29 May, 2014 @ 6:33 pm   180

A good month for Vita owners (of which I am not one), but for the rest of us, very weak. PS4 get a couple of re-releases of very old PS3 games, and PS3 gets an American sports game (of zero interest to most in Europe) and a super blocky indie game.

Surely by now the PS4 can get something bigger?

Scruff0324 29 May, 2014 @ 6:44 pm   181

I try to avoid suggesting or nagging for future plus games. But I would love to see a return to the months where both Vita games were really strong. It may just be my opinion but it seems like PS4 launched that we get one strong Vita game and one weaker or indie game (not that all indies are necessarily bad – loved hotline miami

So please if any of the PS+ guys take subscriber suggestions into consideration, please try to secure some sweet Vita games like:

AC Liberation
Batman Arkham Origins (Retailers have dropped the price so is now the time)
Lego Harry Potter – Years 5-7 (some people might not want it but I do)
Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge – (The game is impossible to get hold of, sort that by giving it to us through +)

Even though I own all 3 consoles (vita, ps4 and ps3) its the Vita games on plus that I get most excited about, because the sad truth is that with only so much money to spend on games the PS4 is the priority…so the PS+ games on Vita are always massively appreciated…..

BTW… any news on the progress of the Gravity Rush sequel. Its getting pre-ordered as soon as a date is confirmed (if it wasnt for PS+ I would never have given the series a try)

K_C_1987 29 May, 2014 @ 6:45 pm   182

What a load of ungrateful people there are. Im happy with this decision. We know what were getting and when. The extra ps4 game makes it all the better. Have a vita but I dont own the ps3 anymore as it was sold after buying the ps4 but still, 48 games a year for a price I would have to pay to play the competition anyway sounds good to me. Keep it up sony and props to the blog team too. Nice job

triplejmzu8 29 May, 2014 @ 7:03 pm   183

Already have Trine 2 & Lone Survivor on PC.
The rest is … naaah.
Bad month for me^^.

Sp4rkyM4rk1337 29 May, 2014 @ 7:05 pm   184

Very pleased to see parity with the US again when it comes to quantity. Seems the quality and game choices are more or less on par, too (although that wasn’t really an issue to begin with). Having said that, I must admit I did prefer the format which was set out in June 2012. Unfortunately as time went by, it started to become a bit of a mess. At least now we know exactly when content will be added, and for how long it will be available.

As for this month’s games… not too mad on NBA 2K14, but Dragon’s Crown certainly looks like a winner. Trine 2 is beautiful for those who haven’t played it. :D

    eyesofvenus 9 June, 2014 @ 10:16 pm

Shame they decide “to put us on par” with the US when it’s a really poor month game wise

Thanu13 29 May, 2014 @ 7:29 pm   185

Could you give me good AAA games like you did at the end of last year? PS4 doesn’t have a lot of AAA games, that’s understandable, but I haven’t touched it for months (Ordered Watch Dogs, can’t wait). Same with the PS Vita, I’ve play Persona 4 Golden over and over again. Recycling old games doesn’t help that much since most of us have already played them. I believe in the Vita and hopefully one day, it can be greater than the PSP. I don’t like sport games on any platform. Been so long since good games came out on PS Plus. Maybe next month…

Farrmark 29 May, 2014 @ 7:36 pm   186

Quick summary of the comments for those just joining us:

Sports games suck and should not be part of PS+
Games in IGC that were previously on sale mean Sony are scamming us

Both utter (CENSORED).

If you buy something then you by default are agreeing to the price and value of said item. If it drops in price later then it’s just tough. Remember you paid what you decided was a fair price. As for sports games, no problem here, all genres should be covered, stop whinging.

Great month for me, I was about to get Trine 2 but now I can hold off and use the credit for something else. Dragon’s Crown is stunning, Surge is great and Deluxe should improve on it. Not a Basketball fan but I’ll “buy” it anyway and take a look. Lone Survivor I already have and actually need to start and last but not least Pixeljunk Shooter is a great game and I can’t wait to play it on Vita and PS4.

Have a nice evening guys and gals, I’m off to play the bargain that was Injustice on PS4.

And you know what, if it’s one of next months PS4 IGC I don’t care :)

Acquiescence 29 May, 2014 @ 7:42 pm   187

So if May’s PS+ games are leaving tomorrow then that means there will be a gap until June’s selection. That doesn’t that usually happen does it? I’d have thought that May’s games would leave on the 4th of June.

blackout_pt 29 May, 2014 @ 7:43 pm   188

@Chris and @Fred The first paragraph should be
“Next month, PlayStation Plus will reach its 4th anniversary. It has decline a great deal since its inception, providing our PS Plus members with exclusive discounts (a lie on the two latest sales), beta access and even select games early (not longer true), as well as, of course, lots of indie and un-requested games to play through our Instant Game Collection. The service has continuously ignore the complains and questions from subscribers and has deteriored significantly over the past 12 months. Our members have grown distruthfull of us, mainly because we say something in one month and say the oposite on the next month. With our introduction on PS4, we’ve taken away a ps3 game, even after we had promised that we wouldn’t. Also, we’ve lied to you about the yearly rotation games of the vita and now, we are taking away completly the yearly games for all platforms. Because of this, together we’ve built a really distrusthfull global community of gamers that don’t believe a single word of what we said.”
I’m sorry, but this is the present state of affairs with the SCEE ps+ community, and by the cheerfull tone of Chris post, I can only assume that you, the blog team, are ok with this. You can say whatever you want, SCEE can send employees in nija-mode to praise the service and the company all they want, this will not change the fact that the real gamers are being treated as garbage at every turn.
As gamers we asked for RPG and you fed us with sports (and the wort is that his month is a sport that has no popularity in Europe).
As gamers with asked several times why the big differences between SCEA and SCEE and you’ve always reply that you’re distint companies, to tell us now tha the service will be equal in all regions, except on the price and on the sales. #4TheGamers??? #4OurMoney is closer to the true.
As a final word, If I had to renovate my subscription this month I WOULDN’T!

    Nesther 30 May, 2014 @ 2:25 am

But the US PSplus is clearly worse than the EU one. This is widely known.

    eyesofvenus 9 June, 2014 @ 10:14 pm

@188.1 Eh not really? They have a far superior catalogue of games to choose from, you can buy music and movies on it. When you do a conversion from $ to € they usually get most games an effective 20% cheaper. Can’t see where you pulled that staement from…

mnc221 29 May, 2014 @ 7:47 pm   189

So not only have you reduced our PS3 games that we subscribed for, without telling us, but now you’ve also gone back to giving us crappy indie games aswell to further reduce the value of the service. I want to say I won’t be renewing, but sadly I was induced by SCEE to a 12 months sub just before they started reducing the games. So i’m stuck for another 6 months. Not to mention the last couple of months were really poor. And now the evergreen titles wont be replaced either, instead everyone will get an extra unwanted indie game for the PS4. Expect me to be eagerly complaining now Chris! Also I want to thank Fred for his transparency regarding the evergreen titles. Maybe you can learn a thing or two from him!

    Nesther 30 May, 2014 @ 2:27 am

But none of the indie games can be described as crappy. A game does not have to be a AAA title, with bloated marketing that accounts for most of its production cost, to be good.

    Cathal-O 31 May, 2014 @ 3:25 pm

like it or not ps3 is now officially last gen. The ps4 is going to get more priority in terms of games, services and yes, ps plus games as time goes on and the ps3 wiill be getting less. Ps3 cannot be supported forever.

    mnc221 1 June, 2014 @ 4:50 am

    @Cathal-O
I understand that. But how do you explain that a PS3 game was dropped, and then it wasn’t even replaced by an extra PS4 game each month. While North America PS+ continued to get 3 PS3 games each months for an extra 6 months until they decided to replace one of the titles with a PS4 title. So while we have been getting 5 games each month, they have alway been getting 6. Not to mention that Chris doesn’t make any announcements to changes. I mean what kind of rubbish is ‘In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out’. At least Fred had the decency to tell us outright that the yearly titles will not be replaced.

rutea7 29 May, 2014 @ 7:50 pm   190

What an awesome month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TY so much guys, keep up the hard work! We love you.

jamesbduk 29 May, 2014 @ 7:54 pm   191

Shocking news for PS3 owners. Less bad if you’ve stumped up for a PS4 i suppose though…

I’m not sure why i’m suprised really. Sony basically have us all by the balls, as we lose everthing if we ever cancel our subscription.

There will come a point eventually when it all gets shut down and we’ll lose all these games that we’ve never actually owned, and we won’t be able to do a thing about it other than complain on a forum…

    eyesofvenus 9 June, 2014 @ 10:11 pm

In reality it always has just been a glorified rental service. For €7 instead of playing russian roulette with Sony in regards what game they’re going to give you, you could go to your local rental store and rent a brand new title for€10 for the week. You have to give it back, but at the same time if you cancel your sub you’re effectively losing “all” downloaded content from ps+

ChilliOne 29 May, 2014 @ 7:55 pm   192

Pleased to see the balancing of the service to 2 games for each platform. Having the extra PS4 game is a good way to get people who have not upgraded to the new console thinking about it, especially if you have been banking the games in your purchase list on the online store.

Great work folks, keep it up. The comments show you have been a victim of your own success. People seem to have developed a sense of entitlement over the service. 40 pounds per year for all this stuff. Whats that, just over 3 quid for 6 games. Hell, we pay more than that for a coffee! Obviously we would have loved to keep the yearly games but if the financials dont work then so be it.

King_Paul_VII 29 May, 2014 @ 7:57 pm   193

The phrasing in the blog post isn’t especially clear.

‘We’ve decided to adjust the length of time each title will be available. Starting in July, every title in the Instant Game Collection will be available the first Wednesday of the month, and will be free for that month, until the first Wednesday of the following month.’

Just to check- if we add the game to our download list, we’ll still be able to download and play it after the month has passed (until our subscription ends) right? The post seems to imply that it won’t be playable until the end of the subscription and given the other changes made to the service this month I’m hoping this isn’t actually a change in policy.

jon_1_burd 29 May, 2014 @ 7:59 pm   194

Please, no more side scrollers after this month, the 80′s called they want their games back. I’ll admit that Trine game looks ok but the pixel junk looks…well, junk.
NBA is not something I’d buy or show interest in so I’m happy with that, I’ll give it a try.
Are we getting yearly games for each system or just the two on each, each month?

RawNinjaKid 29 May, 2014 @ 8:00 pm   195

No sorry, I’ve been a subscriber for 4 years now and now it’s time to let it go and feel liberated. I can’t keep on being a ‘member’ for ever.
I am sick of been forced to play and pay for stuff I don’t want, and the odd occasion you do provide something to my liking, it’s always available cheaper as a standalone product eventually!

The only thing I’ll miss is the cloud saves; which should be available for around £5 per year as a standalone subscription.

Goodbye, PS Plus!

Diogo4D 29 May, 2014 @ 8:01 pm   196

I’m from Portugal and my favorite sport is football (the one we play with the “foot”?!), but I have to admit… NBA2k14 is the best sport game I ever played. Even better than Fifa, IMO.

Wait for E3, guys. I can smell a Last of Us or a Beyond Two Souls coming to PS Plus in July, announced at E3 this year.

Tagged_Deaf 29 May, 2014 @ 8:01 pm   197

Trine 2 and Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate for me! Played Pixeljunk 1 on PS3 and never managed to get a second one so it’d be perfect for me to get it on PS4 again.

Quite pleased with June offerings.

squiggledyboing 29 May, 2014 @ 8:11 pm   198

So the old games leave on May 30th,but the new game don`t arrive until June 4th…..what happens to the 4 days in between? Will there be nothing? Seems like a poor business decision, what if someone wants to start their subscription on June 1st,will there be zero games available?

    JavaDuke 29 May, 2014 @ 11:47 pm

From previous comments, we will have/see the yearly games will be leaving on 11th June 2014

serpent-eagle 29 May, 2014 @ 8:21 pm   199

So now it’s 4 indie games. Not exactly happy with this change. The PS4 has been mostly just an excuse to give us even less proper games for PS3. Remember the times when we got games like Mass Effect 3, Metal Gear Rising, DmC, Spec Ops, Metro LL, Catherine, Okami, Bioshock 2 & Infinite and many many other great titles? They were the reason we loved the PS+ so much.

RedMustang72 29 May, 2014 @ 8:21 pm   200

I like the new format and it still remains great value, even if you only own one system. I will never knock anyone for voicing their opinion, and yes we do pay for this service, the games aren’t free, but I think some need a little perspective, or a little reminder of exactly how much we pay a month…£3-5 (some less than £3 due to discounts)…let me say that again…£3-5…a month! £3.34 a month, to be more accurate, if you’ve bought a yearly, at only two games it’s good value, just look at the prices of any of next months line-up, and if, like myself, you’re getting six games then your laughing.

The games might not be to your taste, and I’ve had my own ‘not much for me’ months too, but I’d say 99% of the games that go on Plus are solid titles, and we all know there’ll never be a month that pleases everyone. I know there are legitimate complaints about a few things, but I just can’t bring myself to complain about the Plus content…it’s £3+ a month, I’d be lucky if I could buy a decent sandwich & drink from Tesco for less than that!!!

    RawNinjaKid 30 May, 2014 @ 1:28 am

Just taking last year as an example, for £39.99, I didn’t get my money’s worth. I liked about 3 games, which I could have bought for £25.99 anyway through their sales, sometimes even quicker then it appeared on PS+! So it can actually can be frustrating !

Yes, you get to try out lots of stuff, but I don’t think it’s worth it, when I am sure of what I like in a market that has many titles to choose from already.

    RedMustang72 30 May, 2014 @ 8:31 am

Raw with all due respect I’m quite astonished that from all of last years Plus content you only liked 3 games…I don’t know what kind of games you like, but there was a lot of top games on the service. It may be though that it’s just not worth it for you, but as for your frustrations, I don’t wait around for games I like to come on Plus, I buy what I want, when I can, and the Plus content is a nice bonus…well, for most I would say anyway.

I’ve owned a lot of the Plus content prior to it entering the IGC, but I still recognize those games as top quality even though I don’t get anything new myself, and I appreciate that the service isn’t tailored to my specific needs and that other gamers will be delighted to have those games on the IGC.

Unless you’re on PS4, you don’t really need to sub, so if you genuinely don’t get value then do what’s best for you, but as I said, for £3+ a month I certainly find value in the service.

THE_FORCE 29 May, 2014 @ 8:26 pm   201

Excellent selection.

Well done chaps. ;)

wmb28 29 May, 2014 @ 8:28 pm   202

its an ok month regarding ps plus but could of been a great month if nba 2k14 was upgradeable to ps4 so disappointed kind of left me a little deflated

Miro33no 29 May, 2014 @ 8:34 pm   203

Well, those PS3 games are no win, but I compensated that for myself with that Batman sale :). Pleasantly surprised to see Trine 2 there and can’t wait to get my hands on Dragon’s Crown. The yearly cancel is a bit of a bummer, but what can we do about it, right ? :P I just hope that those additional PS4 games will be at least as good as Trine ;) .

Mike_JezZ 29 May, 2014 @ 8:35 pm   204

I am very thankfull for this month of Playstation Plus for my new Vita.

But.. I really wish that we also got Terraria in EU, like US got :(

Well Terraria is on sale now pretty cheap, but I just have a feeling that we will soon get it for EU hopefully too…

Lt_Combo 29 May, 2014 @ 9:18 pm   205

Haha .. Thanks guys !! 2 games for PS4, that’s great!! Did not expect it so soon, so I’m guessing we will be getting AAA games in a few months! Not sure about the PS4 games, wanted to try trine heard good things about pixel junk shooter. But Dragons CROWN !! THANKS GUYS!! .. First the awesome Muramasa now Dragons crown!!

I really LOVE PS+ … I get why some PS3 owners aren’t too happy with it .. but yeah .. times change. When you do decide to switch to PS4 you will have a ton of content waiting for you.

PS . I really don’t get why this service had such a low attach rate on PS3 .. even on PS4 I don’t think 50% of all users is a big number .. I would expect 90% since you need it for MP and you get your money’s worth in games .. albeit they are mostly indies etc right now .. still get your money’s worth

P.s. I saw comments complain about paywalls (for MP) .. yeah .. sorry but I would gladly pay 50euro a year so I can have a good MP service. I would much prefer it over free MP but horrible connection/service etc

SpawnCap 29 May, 2014 @ 9:21 pm   206

This month was nothing I want to play, and next month the same. Hopefully they go back to putting out good ps3 games on ps+. Don’t own PS4 or Vita.

Player_550 29 May, 2014 @ 9:30 pm   207

This is a good IGC lineup. Wished that NBA 2K14 was for the PS4, oh well. Thank you sony. :-)

Cloud-1409 29 May, 2014 @ 9:31 pm   208

Normally I only lurk here but decided to log in and comment for what i think is the first time. I see people here constantly complaining about the free plus games. Think about what you’re getting for the price you’re paying. I have had plus for nearly two years now and my back-catalog of games I need to play is overflowing.

If you don’t like the service stop paying or stop complaining. Most of the time people here whine about the games without even having played them. There have been plenty of games on plus that I never would have bought or played if not for plus. I have played every plus game I’ve received and the service has given me nothing but a wealth of interesting games to play. It helps that I have a PS3, PS4 and Vita though.

TL:DR
Stop paying or stop complaining.

Thanks Sony you guys are heroes, Playstation Plus games are one of the best things to happen in the whole gaming industry. You’re doing a swell job.

ten-bucks 29 May, 2014 @ 9:37 pm   209

I own all 3 consoles so I still feel plus is good value. The evergreen year titles like vita, not trying to be funny but this is not a decision you have just taken to phase them out! This has been in the planning for a while and choices like this does annoy a lot of gamers, for example when you cut ps3 games from 3 to 2 and did not deliver the change in an appropriate manner. And you have done it again. Like I said I got all 3 consoles, Im happy enough. Not everyone is.

Nufis_K 29 May, 2014 @ 9:43 pm   210

I own a PS3 and a Vita and i surely don’t feel encouraged to buy a PS4 when i see the games in the IGC. Don’t get me wrong, indie games can be good but if i want to play them, i have my pc or my oldest systems. What’s the point of buying a PS4 just to play Trine 2, which i loved playing 2 years ago on PC, or other indie games released months, if not years before, on other platforms?

As Dogsuk said in post 52, i’m seriously thinking about buying my PS+ sub on a month by month basis. Had i done so in the first half of 2014, i would only have subscribed two months (January and April) and thus saved money to buy retail games almost always cheaper than their digital version.

Now that the PS3 is coming to the end of its cycle, you can dig out loads of old-ish AAA games that no one would buy anymore but that many would enjoy and that’s the precise moment when you reduce them. Why?

I really do think the PS+ service is going downhill and i’m glad i didn’t buy 2, 3 or 4 years of PS+. It’s ending in september and for the time being, i’m not sure i’ll be renewing it. Not without seeing that PS4 gets all the games (AAA or not) it deserves. For the time being, the catalogue is rather empty, to say the least. I would be really bored to death if i only had a PS4,

    Tommy-G- 29 May, 2014 @ 10:38 pm

There’s plenty of games to play on PS4. Or do you not buy games anymore and just hope they get added to IGC?

    Nufis_K 29 May, 2014 @ 10:56 pm

Tommy-G-, if you judge by the quantity, yes, there are many games on the PS4 (which is nothing compared to older systems of course) but only a very few of them are really appealling. There is a ****load of indie games and even more Definitive/complete/director’s cut/…. editions of games many people own on other systems. Very few exclusive, next-gen games that make you want to invest 400 euros/dollars.

Lianz2005 29 May, 2014 @ 9:43 pm   211

We already had nba2k14 in the igc. What’s the deal with that??? Are we getting an update on the yearlys?

guylian 29 May, 2014 @ 9:51 pm   212

Two games for each platform is welcomed with open arms :D

@Chris, I’d like to see another racing game in PS+ for PS3, as we haven’t had a racing game for PS3 since December 2013. I really enjoyed Grid 2!

M1528A 29 May, 2014 @ 10:04 pm   213

You guys must try out Trine 2: Complete Story, I paid for it a few months back and its such a laugh when playing 3 player, I enjoy that game soo much.

I can’t believe they giving that game away free, nor Dragons Crown which by the way I was gonna buy, Thank you Thank you.

Lone Survivor game is kinda jumpy like outlast so do try it out, I have to put the game down its makes you freak out. lol..

GOOD GAMES, Thumbs up Sony

but you do know we want retail game next month. so please keep that a secret for E3 ;P

druidmist 29 May, 2014 @ 10:13 pm   214

Worst month ever, ps+ has gone down hill rapidly since the release of ps4, time to say goodbye to ps+.

Skookie30 29 May, 2014 @ 10:31 pm   215

So Sony has seen the light, so SCEE & SCEA, SCEJ are on equal terms now each with 2 ps3, 2 ps4 & 2 vita.

It still won’t cut it with me because we will still get shovelware titles before NA then a month later we get what NA had.

But to make it all fair, you still own us the ps3 games you stole from us. :(

ThugETH 29 May, 2014 @ 10:43 pm   216

Great update! I already have some of the games but still this is a fantastic service keep on rocking!

THE-SCALOP 29 May, 2014 @ 10:49 pm   217

Come on PS+ ‘ this aint enough

For a guy like me, here in Scandinavia > Denmark wich literally are paying the worlds highest playstation plus fee and with only a Playstation 3 (no vita or ps4).

- This certainly aint enough, and no bigger incentive to keep a PS+ subscription..

A shame hence the concept was a win win for both parties..

But at the end of the day,.. it was my faulty-PS3-drive, and that it doesnt take most disk’s anymore that lead me to the PS+HDD play..

Any place & list where one can see what games been IGC’ed previusly..

Has SSX, Mass Effect3, Far Cry3 been up’ed on IGC previusly.. would be nice to could cross out with titles you as a sucscriber should not be counting on, comming on IGC again.. (I can see why this aint in Sonys interrest, så likely aint officiel list-overview))

But at the end of the day, I think previus IGC’ed content should be accessable for new PS+ subscribers to a fraction of the cost, with in regards to its only playable in the peiod when subscribing and not least the general lower value hence time on the gamemarket.

When accuiring a PS4, that might change the Picture, but a single ps3 and not gaming heavely

, its doesnt make sense to keep a PS+ subscription with the optmistic prizes Sony operates with here in Denmark, wich seems to be the highest in the World.

    sabi8600 29 May, 2014 @ 11:15 pm

Well, it is £40 in UK and €50 in Germany. The prices are roughly the same. In UK they are saving about 8 DKK compared to Denmark and compared to Germany, there are no real difference.

    NOSAJ19 30 May, 2014 @ 1:24 am

I have just done some currency conversion and it turns out that 375DKK actually converts to £40.87, so you are being charged 87p more than the UK for a full one year PlayStation Plus subscription. Less than £1 is hardly worth complaining about and hardly makes your price for a year long PlayStation Plus subscription the highest in the world.

I am just saying, relax and contemplate buying a PS4 and/or Vita, as multiple PlayStation consoles is where the value of PlayStation Plus really takes hold.

    Joolesasher 30 May, 2014 @ 10:36 am

Far Cry 3 and Mass Effect 3 have been on IGC, so you should buy those if you want them. SSX has been talked about a lot so I guess you could wait a couple of months and see if it appears in the IGC if you don’t “need it right now”.

    THE-SCALOP 31 May, 2014 @ 2:22 am

Ewen thow the DK fees seems to be the highest in the Worlds (like everything else) the prizes is not correct and faulty text.

hence screendump, it states 155 DKK 3 m. (29$) wrong.

as stated above the PS+ conecpt is great, and a win win for both parties and huge kudos that AAA’s like Mass Effect3 & Far Cry3 been on IGC previusly and would love to see SSX on, – but there should be a way so that previus IGC-content should be accessable for new PS+ subscribers too a fraction of the cost, with in regards to its only playable in the peiod when subscribing and not least the general lower value hence time on the gamemarket.

Anybody familiar with a list, to see wich games been on IGC previusly, and that new PS+ subscriber shouldnt be expecting to surface in the land of IGC..

but overall the EU prizes in EU is pretty align, not familiar with the cost in Asia but in USA its quite a difference; PS+ is 40% off on EU and most AAAs titles seems to go for 50-60$.. in DK its 100$

a game like FIFA 2013 still goes for 100$.. (539DKK) thats alot for digital copy without any inner resale value..
    https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/da-dk/spil/fifa-13/cid=EP0006-NPEB01030_00-FIFA13PSNLICENSE

Whats up with PS+ value EU codes, like from online retailers, Amazon and others online retailers..is the EU restricted to specific country or just frequent EU vs US wheres there seem to be a hazzle..
And does all purchase under ones PS+ profil need to be from the national store, or is it just level to under EU terrotori..

But all in all, my main hope is that Sony would implement at way that new PS+ subscribers could get acces to previus IGC’ed content..
a lot of the huge titles, new sucscribers would have no chance of getting thrue IGC.. that aint solid in the longrun and undermine the gameportefolio Sony are selling if some of the hughest AAA titles aint an option.

But no dubt if you had the hole playstation yard, an Vita, PS4, PS3 that you there get a lot for your Money..

unaflordemuerto 29 May, 2014 @ 11:08 pm   218

Well its semi crappie month for Ps4. sony please do better next month as your really are letting down Ps4 owners and you know it !

    Nesther 30 May, 2014 @ 2:31 am

I’ve been happy with the PS4 offerings, so speak for yourself.

What exactly do you want? EA, Ubisoft and Activisions latest rehashed brown-bloom shooter and parkour simulators?

Witcher70 29 May, 2014 @ 11:10 pm   219

AWESOME MONTH ! i will be grabbing both vita games and PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate for my PS4, i have already played Trine 2 perfect for those who haven’t, it is a very good game……I am pleased PS4 is now getting 2 games a month.

But Chris you say we are getting the same in each region….its not strictly true is it? the Japanese get free games every WEEK !! i think their monthly tally is 17 games PER month ……still i’m not complaining. as long as we get at least 1 brand new indie game each month to balance it out a bit :)

ward1978 29 May, 2014 @ 11:11 pm   220

The PS+ changes seem fair enough to me, not worth crying about in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe the overall quality of games has gone down a bit compared to last year when PS+ hit it’s peak but overall still a good service. I can’t really expect anything else when we are in the middle of a console-generation crossover and I don’t really think it will get much better for another year or so.

I still have a huge backlog of games on different platforms to keep me going for years. :)

piracyy 29 May, 2014 @ 11:32 pm   221

As I only own a ps3 I’m really regretting buying a years subscription in January, the last few months have really left me disappointed as last year was so good and introduced me to so many new series which I’ve subsequently gone out and brought the prequels/sequels. I’m all good with getting games that I’ve already brought as it can’t be helped but the sports games aren’t cool to palm off on us so far into their shelf life. They are the one genre that will mostly be brought by the people who actually want them around the release date and by this time of year their time is almost up as the new installment will be out in 3-4 months and the servers will be taken down. I wish I could afford a vita and a ps4 to get the full enjoyment that psplus has to offer as some of the games on offer have looked interesting but right now my money is going straight down the drain especially with this reduction in games on offer for the ps3 and I’m definitely not going to be affording any of the other consoles soon. It would be good if the option was available to suspend the service as it is getting absolutely zero usage now and hasn’t been for the last few months (with the exception of Puppeteer which was actually pretty fun!)

gunnersteve69 29 May, 2014 @ 11:47 pm   222

Great news Chris..

More than happy in the games i already downloaded in last 3 months.

Dante_Zero 30 May, 2014 @ 1:15 am   223

its funny how things have come full circle. PS Plus released and struggled to find its feet. Then we got main stays and yearly games introduced. A new feature of PS Plus called the IGC, Now that is being taken away and we are back to square one again. A full circle and some of the other aspect should really just be taken out while the service is being strimmed back. I cant remember the last beta we had on the plus service. I cant even remember the last time we had exclusive early access to anything. So yeah, lets celebrate 4 yrs of PS Plus by going back to square one and spend the next 4 years repeating mistakes.

    adumr82 30 May, 2014 @ 12:32 pm

At least year one it was clearly labeled what we would get. Now they just give us something and we are supposed to accept it because it is ‘free’

RawNinjaKid 30 May, 2014 @ 1:35 am   224

In my experience, and this is just from my angle from 4 years as a PS+ ‘member’ : if you have a lot of titles in your ‘backlog’ – they probably weren’t to your liking and NOT worth playing in the first place! :)

Newer games come along and preoccupy your time anyway.

Just my take………

BATTENBERG91 30 May, 2014 @ 1:41 am   225

Nope, not impressed. The claims that the plus service wouldn’t be affected for other platforms is clearly bull at this point. So we’re getting a few less games a year for the vita and quite a lot less for the ps3 all in exchange for an extra indie game a month IF you’ve paid a minimum of £300 for the newest platform.

Honestly I wouldn’t care about losing a few games, the value of plus is still exceptional, however the way this has been handled is shocking. PLUS, at least in my opinion, the quality of the games is getting worse as well. Both PES and NBA games end up in bargain bins a year after release and, as someone else pointed out, a hell of a lot of the EU region doesn’t have much interest in basketball. Surely you could have mustered up something more impressive for a PS+ anniversary?

I realis
