The first wave of Summer Sale discounts hit PS Store today

Lots of PS4, PS3 and PS Vita offers to be had

As is customary, we can’t not have a Summer Sale, so here it is! Over the course of the next four weeks you will find a ton of discounts to take advantage of. We’ll be rolling out these discounts in batches (it’s a lot of work to push out nearly 200 items) so you must certainly check back each Wednesday to see what gets swapped in.

Today we will begin with a selection of PS4 titles courtesy of EA, from hugely popular FIFA 14 to Need for Speed Rivals, including DLC. Alongside this we also have part one of our PlayStation 3 and PS Vita discounts going live for two weeks before being swapped for part two.

Next week we’ll be back with even more PS4 games on offer (over 25!)

Are those PS4 discounts a joke?

Battlefield and Need for Speed, again, every sale. Total price of BF4, Madden and NFS is 105 euro, which is around 140$. At the same time Xbox One got EA access, with a library of their games for only 5$. Yeah, the value doesn’t really add up. With the amazing value EA offers you could subscribe for well over 2 years and get a mass of games instead of this “sale.”

    Porcupeth00 30 July, 2014 @ 2:59 pm

EA access is terrible too, yet another sub and EA can remove the games whenever they want, even if you are still paying for it.

    Seishoujyo 30 July, 2014 @ 3:27 pm

A joke we are accustomed to, the PS4 has 9 month and not even 1 decent sale. Not even 1 damn good sale.

    Terarded 30 July, 2014 @ 8:22 pm

I really dont know what you people expect, the ps4 is so new that you still cant even get a game on it for a decent price yet somehow you expect it all to be as cheap as ps3 games.

All you people keep complaining about how we never get ps4 discounts so they threw some in here, its not sony that decides discount prices its the publishers, and why would publishers put their game on sale for so cheap when its still making large amounts of money!? and on top of that its EA, if they arent doubling the price and telling you its a sale than you should consider yourself lucky.

    this must be a prank!
I can find better prices in retail

zalwelgoedgaan 30 July, 2014 @ 2:27 pm   2

…Every title that I am interested in, I already have it…

……I should probably feel honored that I am a loyal customer, I guess? :/

    AlemanGC 30 July, 2014 @ 5:06 pm

You checked the list out quite fast then , lol :) There is also some more sales in the plus discount section and the sales section, not all are listed!

But sorry @ sony for causing you work with this sale! Guess the 5000 gbp a month from Sony they pay you each, they should pay you for doing nothing :D

    zalwelgoedgaan 30 July, 2014 @ 5:12 pm

@Gingerale: Most of this was EA EA EA, so I glanced over it pretty fast, haha.

Porcupeth00 30 July, 2014 @ 2:27 pm   3

Just EA garbage for the PS4 section? well that’s disappointing

    Jawad Ashraf 30 July, 2014 @ 2:38 pm

The rest will come next week.

    tat_sun 30 July, 2014 @ 2:38 pm

“Next week we’ll be back with even more PS4 games on offer (over 25!)”

    Porcupeth00 30 July, 2014 @ 2:46 pm

so is this some thing where EA paid you to hold off on the other titles so that their games get the spotlight first? Never accept deals from EA.

    Seishoujyo 30 July, 2014 @ 3:29 pm

Jawad says “next week Activision garbage, here some sales on COD Ghost DLCs”. Mark my words people ^^

They might have done it due to EA access releasing at the same time. 5$ for a library of new gen games right at start? Amazing value for players, PS4 should also have it instead of being forced to even look at those joke EA sales.

    giu-canever-br 9 August, 2014 @ 2:36 pm

Jawad: Will PSN US get all the discounts that currently are on PSN EU? Or is the European Summer Sale a completely different thing from what’s happening right now with America’s ?

a_certain_mr 30 July, 2014 @ 2:29 pm   4

Watch Dogs Season Pass discount on PS3 but NOT PS4… Oh Sony, why do you hate your new console so?

hilts663 30 July, 2014 @ 2:29 pm   5

This week is pathetic, lets hope the next 3 weeks will be much better

S-o-h-a-i-l 30 July, 2014 @ 2:30 pm   6

When is the August IGC line-up being announced ?

pablo-hassan 30 July, 2014 @ 2:31 pm   7

wow nice list of discounts defo getting some of these

    THUNDERCAT1973 30 July, 2014 @ 2:43 pm

but its not as most have been cheaper in previous sales. sorry most places prices decrease with a new sale, not increase in price

    Nesther 30 July, 2014 @ 6:15 pm

This is basically a copypaste of previous sales. It’s a joke.

LeftMonocle 30 July, 2014 @ 2:31 pm   8

That was a total of 4 games on ps4 haha. Looked like a lot though

Was really excited for this sale, but unfortunately it’s turned out to be pretty middling seeing as, yet again, a majority of the games on sale have either been given away for free with PS Plus or have been cheaper in previous sales.

Hopefully better deals will be added at a later date, because there’s not many games that have piqued my interest in this first wave.

Huono_peleis 30 July, 2014 @ 2:33 pm   10

Where have I seen this list before? Oh yeah, in here… several times actually.

Absolutely pathetic.

Harrisown 30 July, 2014 @ 2:33 pm   11

EA have no concept of what a good sale is…..they probably never will

TomaCentral 30 July, 2014 @ 2:33 pm   12

Injustice for £13.50 when US got it for about $4 lol. Anyways please try and discount Mortal Kombat.

Xayden666 30 July, 2014 @ 2:33 pm   13

Please put Mass Effect 3 DLC on sale too !!! Please !!!

XtianHawkGamer 30 July, 2014 @ 2:34 pm   14

Darn, was hoping for the Watch Dogs Season Pass for the PS4 would have a discount too.

Danterikxx 30 July, 2014 @ 2:34 pm   15

how dare you call this a sale??? all i see is battlefield games. you should be ashamed

Quinlank 30 July, 2014 @ 2:34 pm   16

Some nice discounts in there. Not from any of the EA stuff though of course.

EA can go EAD if they think they’re getting any of my money here.

THUNDERCAT1973 30 July, 2014 @ 2:34 pm   17

well everything i was interested in i already got and most where cheaper and those ps4 sale prices are an insult. will we ever see pirate warriors two on sale?

Danterikxx 30 July, 2014 @ 2:35 pm   18

next week will you include those ps4 titles, or ps3 as well?

ThugETH 30 July, 2014 @ 2:36 pm   19

I was hoping for Injustice PS4/Vita with a similar price to what the US got. I don’t usually compare regional pricing but when they get the game for $4 and we are offered it for £14.99 then something is very wrong!
Will the PS4 version be on sale at some point?

Vashetti 30 July, 2014 @ 2:36 pm   20

Wait. How can you sell Guardians of Middle-earth when the servers are shut down?

The game is useless.

    Vashetti 30 July, 2014 @ 3:06 pm

Jawad, I don’t mean to be forceful, but I think you should specify in the blog post that Guardians of Middle Earth’s servers have been shut down and the game is online-only. It doesn’t work.

It should either be pulled or clarification put in the blog post.

    Balthrus 30 July, 2014 @ 7:49 pm

I bought it when it was on sale last time, just to find out ingame, that servers were going down and it made me a sad panda [T_ T ].

coldape 30 July, 2014 @ 2:36 pm   21

For months and months before PS4 was released we kept getting to told how it was so much easier to develop games on than the PS3. So why is BF4 £19.99 on PS3 but £29.99 on PS4? A 50% price difference is ridiculous.

alcibiades4291 30 July, 2014 @ 2:37 pm   22

Missed out on Mass Effect in previous sales so picking that up today!

    Pysiozaur 30 July, 2014 @ 3:27 pm

Bought it last time for my gf and actually regret it- DLCs are way overpriced.

aimeraya 30 July, 2014 @ 2:37 pm   23

Doom Classic is interesting. But i’ll wait for next week to see the next turn.

Sadodee 30 July, 2014 @ 2:37 pm   24

Good thing I had low expectations for this sale, seeing as how last summer sale was just like this for me. Oh well, maybe the next sales will interest me.

    zalwelgoedgaan 30 July, 2014 @ 2:39 pm

For what it’s worth, this year’s Steam sale was also pretty lousy. I guess it’s just a bad year so far, hah.

jamie-sixtyfour 30 July, 2014 @ 2:37 pm   25

Well at least the cocktails and melons in the hero image are having a good time.

As for me, I have way too much to be playing right now to pick up anything else on sale. Also Pure Pool is getting added to my already too big collection of PS4 games.

Looking forward to those IGC games being announced too!

maniac00 30 July, 2014 @ 2:37 pm   26

Quite a big list, but have most of them :) Hoping for more PS4 games next week and Jawad, you say over 25… Really?

SERHAN-UYSAL 30 July, 2014 @ 2:38 pm   27

Clearly my expectations were too high. Most of the games I already have and some off them I bought not a long time ago on other sales. Still surprised I fall for these things.

Perhaps a better deal including the games I really want next week, OR NOT?!

dark_angel69 30 July, 2014 @ 2:38 pm   28

Nothing for me in this sale. Hopefully next week will be better

Nothing for me, fingers crossed for the next batches. :)

Hoping for DISGAEA2: DARK HERO DAYS, Tactics Ogre™: Let Us Cling Together and since EA seems to be on board, Kingdoms of Amalur DLCs…

MaxDiehard 30 July, 2014 @ 2:39 pm   30

So you’re discounting games down to the prices they should have been in the first place? You guys are extortionists.

adumr82 30 July, 2014 @ 2:39 pm   31

May look at blackgate, castle of illusion and duck tales. Rest of these discounts are pretty average.
Not even sure about those. All three I’d rather have on vita.

Redman_DK 30 July, 2014 @ 2:39 pm   32

Sigh… Hopefully the PS4 games on sale will have some better prices cause this is a joke. US gets Injustice for $4 and Lego Marvel $10 and we get NSF Rivals for £30. How awesome..

Faustofausto 30 July, 2014 @ 2:40 pm   33

Wow, we waited for this joke for 2 week? You guy’s are…
Half of the games had a greater discount earlier, the other half was the part of the IGC.
And the prices are ridiculous. Have you seen the US Blog?
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition (PS3) $8.40 for US, £10.79 for UK.
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition (PSV) $4.20 for US, £13.49 for UK, LOL!
Here’s a deal: let the Vita support multi accounts like PS3, or let the user migrate their profile, and everybody will be happy, and nobody will care about your useless sales. Thank you…

Leylifer 30 July, 2014 @ 2:40 pm   34

Still no Danganronpa discount.

Amazing how it’s expensive as hell months after release.

    zalwelgoedgaan 30 July, 2014 @ 2:53 pm

It’s a good game and the main story will keep you busy for 30+ hours, but the extra mode afterwards is BORING; I couldn’t force myself to finish it. Maybe they will discount it when the sequel is about to release.

Danganronpa came out late Feb and Danganronpa2 is out early Sept. That’s actually quite a small window between releases. Japanese games always seem to hold their value long after their release unlike western AAA titles. It’s also probable they are released in fewer numbers than other games which is why they end up keeping release price. I haven’t seen it cheap in the UK either (lowest was £21.99 used)

I bought Danganronpa on release and still haven’t played it.

Bambeakz 30 July, 2014 @ 2:40 pm   35

Please put Sonic Transformed for the PS3 in sale in the next week. Nothing for me this week.

KylieDog 30 July, 2014 @ 2:41 pm   36

90% cheaper at retail or previous psn sales. Is insulting.

supersmith2500 30 July, 2014 @ 2:41 pm   37

Of course, no Plus discounts for EA and Activi$ion games. Talk about greed and should Crysis 3 hit IGC? I’m completely going to skip it and play on something else worth my time.

pabs010 30 July, 2014 @ 2:41 pm   38

I guess you should be commended for a better sale (PS4-wise) than the joke which was the COD sale, but the prices are still more than ridiculous. NFS is the only one of those titles, as far as I’m aware, without a sequel coming in the immediate future so nobody in their right minds will buy a game they cannot get any re-sell value from which is over half the cost of the new title.

This probably varies from what I read in most comments here and on the interwebs, but I’d prefer something along the lines of a sweeping 10% discount on the indie titles, I know there’s few ‘AAA’ titles around so those that people would purchase already have been, and then an extra discount on some/all for PS+.

From the way I see it the PS store is only good value for games which don’t get a retail release, since its their only avenue for sales, so entice people to buy these games and not the ones they will on the whole be purchased at a retail store where they are still cheaper and the option on trade-ins, etc exist.

Hey Jawad! Shouldn’t one of those Burnout games for PSP be Burnout Dominator? Just a small error I wanted to point out =)

Kandracar 30 July, 2014 @ 2:42 pm   40

Arkham Origins a cold cold heart dlc, excellent been waiting for this. Keep it up. PS4 deals as expected are still not good. Something for Infamous Second Son would be nice! Dunasty Warriors 8 extreme legends complete edition PS4 deal would also be appreciated, has been for the other two platforms and PC.

Hoping to see AC Black Flag on PS Plus for PS4 too.

Suzzopher 30 July, 2014 @ 2:42 pm   41

As soon as the PS + discount is applied to South Park I shall be downloading that.

jerlaak97 30 July, 2014 @ 2:43 pm   42

Few titles that interest me, otherwise overall pretty bad lineup. Hopefully next deals will be better

Sorry, my mistake. I didn’t notice it was on top of those two Burnout Legends. But which one of those is the correct sale price?

Danterikxx 30 July, 2014 @ 2:44 pm   44

but there will be more ps3 discounts, or this is it?

    Archacus 30 July, 2014 @ 2:46 pm

Do you mind if I will reply?

    from OP
->Alongside this we also have part one of our PlayStation 3 and PS Vita discounts going live for two weeks before being swapped for part two.

    Jawad Ashraf 30 July, 2014 @ 2:48 pm

Yep, more PS3 titles from 13th August (Part 2). New PS4 titles for next week, though. A staggered approach this time.

Archacus 30 July, 2014 @ 2:44 pm   45

Will there be more PSP games in next weeks? Just asking, but nothing important ok?… ow well I might as well wait and see for myself.

    Jawad Ashraf 30 July, 2014 @ 2:52 pm

There may be a couple but we’re likely to do something separately with PSP titles in the near future.

    Archacus 30 July, 2014 @ 2:55 pm

    @Jawad Ashraf
Ahh, ok thank you very much for reply!

JecciusC 30 July, 2014 @ 2:44 pm   46

Well I was missing AC Liberation on the Vita so I’ve nabbed that (as I’ve finished Rogue Legacy on the PC already), otherwise not really bothered with the rest. Seems like a fair bit of variety though in fairness.

SquidInvasion 30 July, 2014 @ 2:44 pm   47

Nice to see that all the good Vita games aren’t on sale this week.

    Archacus 30 July, 2014 @ 2:59 pm

Oh but there are good games:

Mind Zero -> depends on price… but it might be still better deal to buy retail edition (if you will find good deal it might be even cheaper… but normally price for retail should be 15-20% higher than here)

Concepion 2 -> it is good game, personally I refuse to buy it because discriminATLUS didn’t give us retail edition (but that’s my whim, to everony else it might be good time to grab it)

    Archacus 30 July, 2014 @ 3:12 pm

    Edit:

Ahh sorry, I made mistake I was thinking about Last Reward (not here)…

So yeah Mind Zero doesn’t have retail edition in Europe (again just because of my -whim- not buying for discrimination of 30% bigger market -> but if you are fine with it, it is rather good game)

    Timberman80 30 July, 2014 @ 3:28 pm

Like Archacus, Concwption II and Mind/0 is for me. Happy Days :)

Panos_GRE 30 July, 2014 @ 2:44 pm   48

Why isn’t Dante’s Inferno compatible with the PS Vita Jawad?
It is for the US customers only. Q&A team working overtime again?

RobHeff 30 July, 2014 @ 2:45 pm   49

So the PSP is still going strong…
Some decent deals on PS3, but everything is outside of my price range of 0 Euro 0 cent :(

crusher915 30 July, 2014 @ 2:45 pm   50

Or I could just pay £5 and get Battlefield 4 along with other titles oh wait sony doesn’t allow it….

    Porcupeth00 30 July, 2014 @ 3:10 pm

you mean “get” them for some time until EA removes them from the vault.
Buying this actually gives you permanent access.
