VidZone update: Pharrell Williams, Linkin Park, MAGIC!, more

2014 has not only been a year of amazing music and videos from the planet’s biggest and most well-known artists, but the year of brand new acts making it big. And when we say big, we mean BIG. Take newcomers MAGIC! and X Ambassadors for example – Following the likes of Iggy Azalea, George Ezra and Sam Smith whose popularity rose dramatically this year, they’ve managed to catch the world’s attention with two of the year’s biggest tracks. So as well as getting excited about Linkin Park and Pharrell Williams this week, VidZone would like to salute these new chart-topping arrivals!

Artist of the Week: Pharrell Williams

Yep that’s right. The multi-talented rapper, producer, singer-songwriter, musician continues his reign of the air and video waves with ‘Come Get It Bae’, the third single from his long-awaited new album, GIRL. The track and video features everyone’s favourite/most-hated (delete as appropriate) singer, Miley Cyrus and as usual for Mr Williams a whole host of ladies. Next up it’s the Kings of global domination – Linkin Park. They arrived with debut album, Hybrid Theory 14 years ago and sold millions which in turn made nu-metal the biggest thing since slice bread. Now the Californian rockers are back with The Hunting Party and its brilliant single ‘Until It’s Gone’. The cool effect-heavy music video was directed by the band’s DJ, Joe Hahn and has received a nomination at the MTV Video Music Awards 2014 for ‘Best Rock Video’. X Ambassadors may have been a band since 2009, but the four-piece from New York, USA have just become huge property this year due to their massive single ‘Jungle’ being used to promote EVERYTHING. From the Global Beats By Dre World Cup advertisement to the new Hercules movie starring WWE wrestler The Rock, you name it it’s featured in it! With the additional vocals of British singer-songwriter Jamie N Commons, the energizing track and its fantastic music video are a Must See this week!

Theatrical rockers Fearless Vampire Killers made it their mission to conquer the world with their fantastical and horrifically exciting music since beginning in 2008. Gearing up for the release of their second album later this year, they recently launched their own social networking site called “The Obsidian Bond” in which fans can interact with each other and the band.
