Wow, really awesome PS4 sales actually. I am certainly going to check out Dead Nation, Trials Fusion, Steamworld Dig and a bunch of other titles. Along with the two free PS+ games for PS4, this is going to be a great day. :D

The prophecy has come true! Sadodee, you praised both the sale prices and Plus in the same post, that is unheard of in this day and age! ;-)

I’m looking at picking up the Zen Pinball tables myself.

    @tat_sun

Haha, I’ve actually been waiting for the PS4 sale and the new PS+ games since I got my PS4. I also just became a PS+ member, which means I missed a lot of the free games that PS+ members got the past year. Now is my time to pick up the ones I missed. :D

    crusher915 6 August, 2014 @ 3:04 pm

is SteamWorld Dig better than Super Motherload?

nulenvoid 6 August, 2014 @ 11:08 am   2

Thank you

    AlemanGC 6 August, 2014 @ 11:38 am

Yeah thankyou for forgetting about the pS3 its like it never existed ! PS3 4 LIFE !

    nulenvoid 6 August, 2014 @ 12:15 pm

If you have a look at the sale I would hardly say the PS3 has been forgotten about. It’s consistently well catered to.

I think I’ll take Bound By Flame. Was interested in Wolfenstein too but sale price is still way too high. Idem for Lego The Movie.

Nice to see PS4 getting so many discounts that aren’t just over priced EA games, but I am a bit gutted that so many of the decent offers are on games already given for free on PS+. Great for those who missed them, but kinda pointless for early adopters.

Also quite a few games here with a ‘big sale price’ that are still, even with the PS+ discount, more expensive than in the shops.

For all the PS Store exclusive stuff, that’s not been on PS+ yet, though. Some of the savings are quite appealing.

Shadiochao 6 August, 2014 @ 11:10 am   5

Is this part 2 of the sale or something separate?

I want to know the same thing.

    Feeder1986 6 August, 2014 @ 11:39 am

And I want to know where the sale is?

    AlemanGC 6 August, 2014 @ 11:39 am

What part 2 ? This is part 2 .Third part is next week ! But there might be some more sales today, who knows! Have to wait for store update post i guess ! Btw get rogue legacy guys and you will not need any of the crap of this sale because its the greatest game EVER.

    Jawad Ashraf 6 August, 2014 @ 11:49 am

    Just to clarify it.

This week is additional PS4 content, as listed above. ALL PS4 content (included last week’s) end on 20th August.

Next week we will have additional PS3 and some Vita content on sale. These will replace the current lineup and run until 27th August.

I would have liked to spend some money on Vita games this week, but it seems there is second part of Vita sales?

    Tyrus__ 6 August, 2014 @ 1:21 pm

Jawad, will there be PS3 DLC on sale next week, such as cuts for Mass Effect 2 and 3 DLC and Dragon Age II DLC (as all three games are currently discounted in the first wave but with no DLC discounted)?

    Shadiochao 6 August, 2014 @ 3:24 pm

I hope there’s more DLC coming in these sales. Games can generally be bought at low prices elsewhere so game sales don’t have as much of an impact on me, but with DLC we’re pretty much at the mercy of whatever price Sony has decided it to be worth.

There’s a huge amount of DLC I’m waiting to reach reasonable prices, but it just rarely seems to happen these days.

Yes, please, discount the Kingdom of Amalur dlc-s

Now this is more like it! I am genuinely tempted to buy Trials Fusion and Transistor and anyone who doesn’t already own Ground Zeroes and is a PS+ member would be foolish not to buy at that discount! Thanks guys for putting a big effort into this summer sale.

    AlemanGC 6 August, 2014 @ 11:40 am

Why would buy any of the crapgames from this sale (few exceptions but its mostly shovelware) when you can get rogue legacy guys its the greatest game EVER.

Transistor is great, well worth getting at that price. @AlemanGC does have a bit of a point too though, I bought Rogue Legacy last week and I am hopelessly addicted, when I’m not playing it on PS4 I’m playing it on my Vita. My wife has actually mentioned sending me to rehab if I’m not careful… ;)

So all Plus indies are discounted.
Wondering if the Zen pinball tables are also discounted on the other platforms otherwise they aren’t cross buy and a bad deal for everyone who also has a Vita and/or PS3.

Yes, Jawad, could you answer this?

    Sifu_Thom 6 August, 2014 @ 3:00 pm

They don’t show in either the PS3 or Vita sections of the sale so I’d guess not, which is a real shame as I split my play time across my PS4 and Vita and would only want to purchase once. The sale of these tables seems a tad poorly thought out IMO.

    I hope they can/will rectify the situation…

dark_angel69 6 August, 2014 @ 11:15 am   8

Still nothing for me. Is there more next week?

Despite the PS4 not being out terribly long you still managed to squeeze 8 games that have previously been free for PS Plus subscribers into this “sale”. I’d have much preferred that you discount the Outlast and Don’t Starve DLC instead.

At the very least, this new round of discounts have confirmed that a certain Steam Summer Sale has no genuine competition from Sony.

    crusher915 6 August, 2014 @ 11:21 am

they did discount the DLC for Don’t Starve a couple of weeks ago but I’m not sure if they did it with Outlast

    Feeder1986 6 August, 2014 @ 11:30 am

No discount for Outlast DLC yet, literally I will throw money at them when they do discount it.

Gotta query Sony’s Marketing team at times.

    Seishoujyo 6 August, 2014 @ 1:06 pm

Well a lot of people weren’t PS+ before so Outlast, Constrast ou Don’t Starve discounted is a good news.

Any chance of a PSOne / PSP / PS2 game sale?

    madmanwithabox12 6 August, 2014 @ 11:27 am

They’ve hinted at the possibility of a classics sale sometime in the near future.

    Jawad Ashraf 6 August, 2014 @ 11:52 am

What madmanwithabox12 said. It is possible. There’s a few discussions on promotions taking place.

Elite_1989 6 August, 2014 @ 11:16 am   11

Tempted to pick up Transistor. Quick question Jawad if you’re going to reply, are more pre orders going up on the store soon? Considering pre ordering Diablo 3, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Far Cry 4, Metro etc. But nothing really gets added to the store so I don’t know whether to get on disc or go digital

    Jawad Ashraf 6 August, 2014 @ 11:54 am

Pre-orders typically get added on a Friday. We may have pre-orders for a few of the bigger releases but I can’t confirm anything today.

Some of the “discounted” games are cheaper on any shop…

DuquesneWhistle 6 August, 2014 @ 11:16 am   13

Transistor, Mercenary Kings and Ground Zeroes for me, thank you.

MafiaCub 6 August, 2014 @ 11:16 am   14

@OttoT I was thinking the same, they need to clarify if the Vita/PS3 version are discounted. Because if they are, you have to buy them that way to get the cross-buy. If we just buy a discounted PS4, we don’t get access to the Vita/Ps3 version of the table.

Which I still think is incredibly stupid.

LordBeloved 6 August, 2014 @ 11:17 am   15

Thanks for the early notice! Very much appreciated!

zalwelgoedgaan 6 August, 2014 @ 11:17 am   16

Rayman Legends
Was £34.99/€54.99/AU$54.95, now £19.99/€24.99/AU$30.95
10% additional PS Plus discount

——————-

Actually, the standard price is €39.99, not €54.99.

Erranaxx 6 August, 2014 @ 11:17 am   17

Damn not bad! I’ll take Transistor and MGS:GZ Thanks!

crusher915 6 August, 2014 @ 11:18 am   18

Great finally some PS4 discounts.

Also a fair warning to everyone, pick up Basement Crawl at your own risk it is basically just a shell of a game that’s missing a lot of content and is buggy,
however the developers promised to remake the game from everyone’s feedback and give it out for free to everyone who purchased the original but it might take some time and in the meantime you basically just have a shell of a game that you might not spent allot of time on.

    AndyBeans 6 August, 2014 @ 11:47 am

I tried to point out that it’s illegal in the UK to list a broken game without stating those issues, but the Blog team have removed the comment almost instantly.

    Bovrillor 6 August, 2014 @ 5:50 pm

Sadly that law still only applies to physical releases, the store is free to publish all the broken content it likes.

    supersmith2500 9 August, 2014 @ 5:28 pm

    @Borvrillor
Yeah, this law should of also apply to digital releases as well. I wouldn’t be suprised if AMY and Dead Island gets discounted again,

Thief discount is a joke right? Hmm only indie games were already in the IGC has good prices… the other sales are too expensive.

Is there a part 3 coming?

“MGSV: GZ offer is unavailable in Spain and Portugal”

WHAT?

Also, if you compare this “sales” with the USA ones… some games are still cheaper in the shops, and that means you can resale the game, share it…

“SALES” is not the word for this.

MonkeyMonger 6 August, 2014 @ 11:19 am   21

Games that have been cheaper before, games that have been on PS+ and games that are reduced in theory only.

Another joke from PS EU

supersmith2500 6 August, 2014 @ 11:19 am   22

Is Steamworld Dig cross-buy?

    zalwelgoedgaan 6 August, 2014 @ 11:23 am

    Yep!

    Harrisown 6 August, 2014 @ 12:10 pm

    Brilliant game

    LordBeloved 6 August, 2014 @ 1:01 pm

@Zalwelgoedgaan: Are you sure? The Vita version explicitly says: “Only compatible with PlayStation Vita”, no mention of cross buy whatsoever either.

    zalwelgoedgaan 6 August, 2014 @ 2:51 pm

@Lord: I bought the Vita version and on the webstore, the PS4 version is also considered purchased.

VedzReux 6 August, 2014 @ 11:19 am   23

Next week is the ps3 sale then?

Alphaembryo 6 August, 2014 @ 11:20 am   24

@Jawad Ashraf
Are there more sales coming this week for PS3 and VITA?

INS1GHTFUL 6 August, 2014 @ 11:20 am   25

I can recommend transistor even at full price. so the discount is really good.
the AAA games are all cheaper physically, but the indie games have good prices.

Will the zen pinball tables discounts apply for vita and PS3 too?

ScTrilogy 6 August, 2014 @ 11:20 am   26

Pathetic sale as always. For example: Injustice and Lego Marvel for 40€. US had them for 8$ and 10$.
Are you even trying? Man, I hope USA invade and conquer Europe, then maybe we will get the same prices :P

funky_ole 6 August, 2014 @ 11:23 am   27

Love that Ground Zeroes has finally received a welcome price cut! I’ve been waiting for this, will definitely pick it up now. Will also take a peek at Transistor. Good going PS team

There’s far too much positivity going on here. It has to be wall to wall posts whining about how the Plus games are rubbish, or how crap all the sale prices are because the games aren’t £1/€1/$1

Ban this sick positivity now before it spreads! ;-)

    zalwelgoedgaan 6 August, 2014 @ 11:37 am

@tat_sun: There’s one thing positive about you, and it’s not necessarily your attitude.

    tat_sun 6 August, 2014 @ 1:52 pm

See? zalwelgoedgaan has the right idea; negativity!!

    zalwelgoedgaan 6 August, 2014 @ 2:50 pm

smile_taisou 6 August, 2014 @ 11:23 am   28

Jawad: Any news about Japanese voices DLC for DW8XLCE (PS4), which was supposed to hit the PSN last week?

brisdevil 6 August, 2014 @ 11:24 am   29

Definitely gonna get Wolfenstein, thanks. :)

Feeder1986 6 August, 2014 @ 11:25 am   30

Good prices? There all pretty shoddy in all honesty.

Metal Gear is the only real standout. Most others have been on plus or cheaper in store.

Hrimgrimnir 6 August, 2014 @ 11:27 am   31

Will Octodad be on sale next week?

Meh, some games here are hardly next gen with no difference compared to there pc counterparts. Not worth the bother to download Marvel Lego.

What are you talking about? Lego Marvel is the beste Lego Game i have played this far. Any Marvel fan will love it!

So the most discounted games are previous IGC titles, small market for sales there.

My biggest gripe however, although you had previously allude that this would be the case, is the appalling discount for Injustice compared to the sales it had in the US, along with most every retail game which is included in this sale. With my PS+ discount it will cost me £31.50 (about $50), whilst in the US the PS+ discount meant it cost just $8.50 (about £5).

Can you offer some level of explanation as to why this is the case? I cannot understand any reasonable explanation that would suggest this is a fair price, its the same game, on the same system, except we’re just across a large pool of water and we are paying nearly 6 times the cost for the same item.

This issue is continually brought up by many people and the only level of response is “we’ll do an FAQ when we have the time (when we can be bothered) to explain this fully” yet it never materialises. If there was a cast-iron reason for this massive price difference in game costs for the EU compared to the US just tell us and we’d understand/accept the reality. If you continue to fob us off the result will likely go two ways. 1, people desert you for Xbox, no good from this scenario. Or 2, people just purchase everything from the US and you guys as SCEE begin to loose subscribers, sales etc, probably a worse scenario as you’d be losing customers to yourselves because you’re pricing yourself out of a sale.

The level of discount is something we work with publishers on. There are various areas they will look at (current market, peformance etc) and decide from there. We and some of the publishers also operate separately to the US, so that too factors into it. This is really a brief explanation of it, to be honest.

An FAQ is a work in progress, too.

This isn’t a sale- this is normal price (or more) for this retail games and more than the price on other platforms for the digital indie games.

That injustice price is disgusting considering it was less than £5 in the US and the best you can manage in £35. I can get it cheaper than that almost anywhere. I think you need to reevaluate your staff your negotiate the deals or you’ll soon find customers are reevaluating their options

This is why when I go to new york next year for my holiday I ll be making sure I pick up alot of $ psn card’s so i can buy from scea as the us store is a gamer’s paradise for sale’s ect when compared with what we who are stuck with scee put up with.

    DjangoDiabolik 6 August, 2014 @ 1:03 pm

Best thing to do given Jawad’s explanation (and I know his hands are tied), is to just buy the games from these publishers off ebay instead. That way they get nothing from the sale at all.

If they’re going to exploit us whilst handing off the discounts to the US send them a message and simply don’t buy their games new.

    Seishoujyo 6 August, 2014 @ 1:16 pm

Jawad so you re not coming to the publisher and say “hey you will discount MGS for 40% because I want a 40% cut for my PSN” ? You should probably make this FAQ and explain everything about it.

    pabs010 6 August, 2014 @ 1:39 pm

Thanks for a reply, I know you cannot give me a full run-down (for many reasons) but your reply suggests that the PS4 and its games must sell vastly more over here than in the US, hence the higher prices and lack of discount which greatly reduce the purchase price (any basic understanding of economic shows that you don’t discount a product which so many people want).

I don’t really buy the separate operations part as well, both you and SCEA are owned by the same company, there isn’t (read as shouldn’t) a PS4-EU and a PS4-US there’s just a PS4, so all ultimate sales/profits line the same pocket, all this means is that you require less overall sales from EU people to match/beat what the US produces, hardly a consumer friendly approach.

And this is why you should own an US account. Apparently the US Store team does a better job getting nice discounts. If only Sony allowed multiple accounts for Vita, although there wont be that many triple A titles i dont own yet as Sony doesnt care about their handheld anyways.

no additional PS3/Vita discounted titles?

    AlemanGC 6 August, 2014 @ 11:44 am

Probably in the store update later today, i would expect at least a few, but who knows.

    madmanwithabox12 6 August, 2014 @ 1:13 pm

Next week. It helps if you read the original sale post from last week. :P

@Jawad Ashraf
Hey, Jawad, could you please tell me if Ground Zeroes or Tomb Raider are being considered for PS Plus anytime soon? Am thinking of renewing it in the coming days! Thanks in advance! :)

    crusher915 6 August, 2014 @ 11:41 am

well Tomb Raider was free for PS3 so that is a definitive no.

    Jawad Ashraf 6 August, 2014 @ 12:05 pm

Really I should say any game is considered for Plus.

I can’t just say yes or no haha!

    VitaFan123 6 August, 2014 @ 4:04 pm

    @Jawad Ashraf
Oh, okay, then. Probably will grab MGS:GZ and renew my Plus sub in a couple of weeks, then :)

KomrathDE 6 August, 2014 @ 11:34 am   36

Sweet, Strike Suit Zero, Transistor and MGS for me :-)

AndyBeans 6 August, 2014 @ 11:36 am   37

Nowhere on the Basement Crawl product page does it mention that the game is intrinsically broken and doesn’t work online, in fact it boasts about 8-player online modes which the developer has openly admitted don’t work. I find it strange that Sony have not withdrawn the game from sale, have not amended the listing to reflect the REAL current state of the product and thus are breaking UK laws:

“The Trade Descriptions Act 1968 is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom which prevents manufacturers, retailers or service industry providers from misleading consumers as to what they are spending their money on. This law empowers the judiciary to punish companies or individuals who make false claims about the products or services that they sell…

Applying a false trade description to goods is a strict liability offence: provided it is shown that the description was applied and was false, the accused has to prove certain defences in order to escape conviction.

Each product sold must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and was obvious or pointed out at the point of sale.”

Not trying accuse SCEE of duplicity, but I feel that the current listing is misleading and thus illegal.

The Ground Zeroes sale (rather its absence) in some countries precises an explanation. Thank you in advance, and let’s hope you solve it as soon as possible.

Danbalmeori 6 August, 2014 @ 11:38 am   39

What the hell is this? Why do we only get PS4 discounts? While the US gets a square enix fest, we are stuck with those bad sales and most of all only on one hardware… Screw this i m moving to US PS Store!

DjangoDiabolik 6 August, 2014 @ 11:40 am   40

So glad that I gave up on the UK store and moved over to my US one. They got Injustice for £5 last week. Our sale price is £35.

It’s just insulting.

    AlemanGC 6 August, 2014 @ 11:43 am

@DjangoDiabolik yeah US got good deals sometimes, but not always. Many games were much cheaper in EU. Its best to have accounts in BOTH and sony allows/tolerates it, thats a nice thing to do !

MWorldII 6 August, 2014 @ 11:42 am   41

that HUGE! Really nice

AlemanGC 6 August, 2014 @ 11:42 am   42

Thanks jawad for fulfilling on your promise from last week and posting it early in the day! Appreciated! I think there is some good deals.

@Rest of the lazy blog team why not promote Rogue Legacy some more? Its the greatest game to ever come out for a playstation system if you are like mario, zelda, metroid etc. Its a great experience with almost unlimited replay value.

Player_550 6 August, 2014 @ 11:43 am   43

I want a sly trilogy to be in this Summer sale please. :-(

Jawad Ashraf 6 August, 2014 @ 11:45 am   44

Octodad will also be going on sale tomorrow. Keep on eye out for it.

    Jonny_Madrox 6 August, 2014 @ 11:55 am

Any chance of the Trials Fusion Season Pass getting discounted on top of the other ones for those that have already bought the game?

    RYUU1222 7 August, 2014 @ 8:21 am

Ane news on Mass Effect DLC’s? (since the games itself are on sale I was hoping for some dicounts on their DLC’s)

Tagged_Deaf 6 August, 2014 @ 11:46 am   45

Certainly Octodad, Rayman Legend and maybe Daylight too.

Few of these games like Wolfenstein with a good discount but u can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Not bad, man, not too bad!

MBocking87 6 August, 2014 @ 11:47 am   46

Great sale. Still waiting on the Killzone SF Season Pass to go on sale though. With the online sadly dying out on that game I’m reluctant to buy the DLC at full price.

mistachicken 6 August, 2014 @ 11:49 am   47

hmm , i have most of the discounted stuff as on ps+ already , so i can’t moan as already have them free.

i would have liked to see:
need for speed @ £24.99?
call of duty ghosts @ £24.99?
killzone shadowfall @ £14.99?
watchdogs @ £29.99

I don’t think this is unreasonable as there are lots of download content that could make companies revenue on these titles.

GioSwagDistrict 6 August, 2014 @ 11:49 am   48

PS3 fifa 14 please… why u have ps4 and psvita fifa 14 sale but not for ps3???????
