Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments trailer shows off new gameplay

Find out how the Subversion skill works in the brand new clip

Hi PlayStation Blog! This is Olga from Frogwares, and this week I’m excited to introduce to you a new Sherlock skill exclusive to Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, with our new Subversion trailer.

Facing incompetence from the police – namely, Lestrade – Holmes needs to get… creative, when chasing lines of inquiry in Crimes & Punishments, coming 1st October for PS4 and PS3. In this gameplay trailer, watch as Holmes earns the trust of a suspect by transforming himself, and his accent, into a sailor, to gain access to the information he desires.

At Baker Street, in Holmes’ bedroom, a wardrobe holds the key to Holmes’ disguises, as well as a dressing table housing wigs, hats, glasses, different hair styles and beards. Where the police draw a blank, it’s up to you to take advantage of Holmes’ transformative skills, to subvert the police and perpetrators.

Not only are you able to win the trust of suspects by transforming into someone from their world, but you will also enjoy ‘mini-games’ in the form of new mechanics breaking up the cases. From arm-wrestling, to firing an ancient cross-bow at a bridge to pass a fierce river, Crimes & Punishments’ six cases take both Watson and Holmes through a unique set of treacherous cases where subverting the police, suspects, and criminals is entirely up to Holmes’ skills, and your wits.

If you want to get more info about the title, why not visit the official website or the official Facebook page.

Crimes & Punishments is coming to PS3 and PS4 from 1st October.

Blues harmonica in the 1800s?

I’m so looking forward to this. Good work Olga!

I hope this game doesn’t get delayed again October is going to be a VERY CRAZY expensive month for me :) DAY ONE buy for me :)

I have played the last SH recently (The Testament of Sherlock Holmes – PS3), which showed great promise, but failed to deliver on technical and gameplay aspects.

I hope this new title will carry on with the great ideas, but will deliver as a game.

Looking forward to this.

It is baffling that the clip shown is being used to sell the game. The voices are not mixed well into the overall sound, the lines are poorly written and delivered, the pick an outfit menu is slow and poorly implemented (why not a list? Why not include a menu where you can see them all and select rather than 1,2,3?), the facial animations are almost non existent, a terrible looking mini game, poor animations across the board and a story progression that wouldn’t be out of place in a cbbc program.

I was excited for this game, but if they are choosing to sell the game on that mess, what is the rest of the game like?

Embarrassing accents agogo.

Been looking forward to this for ages,I like a change of pace now and again. I had hoped it was out last week, a little bit more of a wait won’t matter
