We got our first proper glimpse at Assassin’s Creed Syndicate this week, which sees Ubisoft bring its globe-trotting action IP to the streets of Victorian London. The odd dodgy cockney accent aside, it’s looking irresistibly grimy…

2. Cook up some killer intergalactic soup in Nom Nom Galaxy

The latest entry in Q-Games reliably brilliant Pixeljunk series landed on PS4 this week, and it’s every bit as eccentric as you’d hope, blending platforming, mining, resource management and, yes, soup. Check it out.

3. 50% off Dragon Age: Inquisition leads out this week’s PlayStation Store deals

A humungous list of titles and DLC packs went on sale this week, including discounts on AAA blockbusters like Dragon Age, Evolve and Battlefield Hardline, thorugh to some of the biggest digital titles of the last 12 months, such as Transistor, Strider and The Swapper. In short, something for everyone.

4. A quartet of indie heroes land in LittleBigPlanet 3

Some of the most iconic faces in indie gaming are on their way to LBP3 as special costume packs. Over the coming weeks you’ll be able to dress your Sackboy as the heroes from Thomas Was Alone, Octodad, Velocity 2X and Don’t Starve.

5. Castlevania legend Koji Igarashi returns with a brand new game

Iga, the man many deem to be the founder of much-loved ‘Metroidvania’ subgenre, made a welcome return to the spotlight this week, launching a Kickstarter for a new side-scroller, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Pleasingly, it absolutely obliterated its target in a matter of hours.

6. Helldivers gets a chunky expansion, free of charge

One of the most purely enjoyable multiplayer experiences of the year so far got a hefty slab of new content this week. The Turn Up The Heat update added a new level environment, new enemies, new trophies and new perks, among other bits and bobs. And the best part? It’s totally free.

7. Revisit a classic Final Fantasy on PS4

The classy HD Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster made its way to PS4 this week, bringing with it a pair of new dynamic themes. I know what I’m doing this weekend…
