Everything you need to know about Dragon Quest Heroes, out today on PS4

Watch gameplay footage; plus full details of upcoming in-game events

Nine years ago, the Dragon Quest franchise made its European debut back on the PS2 with Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (yes, it really was that long ago!) and this week, the franchise returns to PlayStation! Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below is out now on PS4 in Europe! It’s good to be back!

To celebrate the launch of Dragon Quest Heroes, we’ve got a load of info for you but before we go into the details be sure to check out the launch trailer, which you can watch below:

Dragon Quest Heroes is the first game in the franchise on PS4 and it’s also the first action RPG in the franchise as well. To make sure Dragon Quest Heroes is a proper Dragon Quest experience, the series creator Yuji Hori was very hands on with the development of Dragon Quest Heroes alongside Koichi Sugiyama who composed all of the music and Akira Toriyama, the world renowned artist who designed all the characters and monsters. If the art style of Dragon Quest Heroes feels familiar it might be because it reminds you of his work on the Dragon Ball manga and anime which he created.

If the launch trailer wasn’t cool enough, we’ve also got some good news for those of you who like to own digital copies of games. I can confirm that as of today you can purchase Dragon Quest Heroes on PlayStation Store!

There are two different versions: the standard edition and the Digital Slime Edition. The Digital Slime Edition comes with a load of extra in-game goodies which are listed below:

Now, as an additional bonus, if you purchase either digital edition of Dragon Quest Heroes from PlayStation Store in the first month of release then you will get two extra items completely free! Cor blimey!

These are:

On top of that, if you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber you can also get the Fandangoo which is a special Slime weapon for the character Maya, completely free too! This is available to everyone who’s a PlayStation Plus subscriber so you don’t need to buy the digital version of Dragon Quest Heroes to get this.

These free items will only be available until the 15th November, 2015 so be sure to get everything you want before then.
