First up this week, face your inner demon in Capcom’s newest entry into the Devil May Cry series. Streamlined controls, accessible gameplay and crazy combos make this a familiar yet different experience.

Elsewhere on the Store, 8-bit nostalgic throwback Retro City Rampage warps open-world carjacking BACK TO THE… ’80s.

Play story missions and arcade challenges! ‘Borrow’ vehicles and outrun the law while mowing down pedestrians! Jump on civilians for coins, or use them for target practice with weapons and POWER-UPS!

Retro City Rampage isn’t the only PS Vita game this week, nuh-uh! It’s been a long time coming but Sumioni: Demon Arts is at last available and we’ve also got Orgarhythm and Earth Defence Force 2017 releasing as well.

Don’t forget, our January Sale is still going on, with some new offers going up. Check out Chris’ post for all the info!

Whether you’ll be racking up style points in DmC, saving the world in Earth Defence Force 2017, or maybe playing other games, have a great week!

PlayStation.Blog Recap

Good morning all. I hope you’re having a relaxing weekend, and enjoyed 2013′s first full week of PlayStation Blogging. It started off sleepily enough, but we ended on a bang with a couple of pleasing PS Vita reveals – an EU release for dashing platformer Sumioni, and a first look at Velocity Ultra from high-achieving indie Futurlab.

On top of that, we also took the wraps off LittleBigPlanet 2: Extras Edition, launched the new God of War: Ascension beta and debuted a fresh Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time trailer. Not a bad week, I’d say.

There’s lots more good stuff in the pipeline for next week too. Look out for a guest post from Retro City Rampage creator Brian Provinciano, word on a handful of new PS Vita titles, and plenty more besides. Oh, and we’ll be welcoming irrepressible Derrick the Deathfin developer Gordon Midwood back onto the Blog too! See you back here tomorrow!

At long last, Europe, the fate of the world can rest in your brushes as well! It’s official: Acquire’s action-packed PS Vita platformer Sumioni: Demon Arts is slated for release in the European PlayStation Store on 16th January, for the entirely affordable price of €9.99/£7.99. Soon, the epic travels of the demon Agura, the lion god Shidou and the firebird goddess Yomihi through feudal Japan will brighten up those OLED screens all across the many countries of the EU!

If you’re unfamiliar with this title, allow me to elaborate. Sumioni: Demon Arts is a side-scrolling platformer presented in the style of classic Japanese “sumi-e” ink prints. Agura can run, jump and swing his sword like any old platforming protagonist if you wish – or you can pause the action and trace designs on the screen in order to set your enemies (and their towers) ablaze.
