Arcade Essentials Evolution

Hello everyone, Nordcurrent is calling! Almost a year ago we released a Minis called Arcade Essentials. The game was very warmly received by the players, so we decided to produce a sequel with 5 new games. So here it is – a Minis called Arcade Essentials Evolution.

As was the case with its predecessor, Arcade Essentials Evolution is a collection of 5 arcade games, remakes of the classic arcade hits of the 80s that we all know. Each game consists of 50 levels, so there is quite a lot of gameplay time here. We made minimalistic visuals with lots of special effects, so that they would feel like we are in real arcades. To get an idea of how it looks like and plays, please check the trailer:

6

First game is an enhanced version of a game about asteroids. In the beginning, levels are quite easy, however as you progress further, difficulty increases and new bonuses and asteroids types start to appear. For example, there is a bonus that allows you to fly through the planets destroying them as you move forward. There are indestructible asteroids that you cannot shoot. There are bonuses that make you fly faster and many other cool things.

3

In the next game called Toader, you need to cross the road safely and reach a safe zone. Once safe zone is reached, you need to jump over the floating islands into the top part of the screen. As usual, there are lots of bonuses that improve your characteristics and help you out.

In this game, you need to shoot the worm that is coming from the top of the screen. Each time you hit it – it divides into 2 parts that run in different directions. If any part of this worm comes to the bottom of the screen – that’s it, it’s a game over.

7

This game was inspired by brick-shooting games, such as Arkanoid and Breakout. The goal of this game is to destroy all the bricks across 50 levels.
And finally:

10

A Lunar Parking game, where you have to park your spacecraft on specially designated locations. You are challenged with gravitational forces and inhabitants of the planet that are running around.

And that’s all for today. Thanks for reading this and hope you will enjoy this game!

Hello! This is Alex from Nordcurrent. I’d like to talk about Monochrome Racing – a minis game that we are releasing on the 3rd of August.

5

Monochrome Racing is a unique racing game that takes place in a black and white world. And since the world is black and white, colour becomes the scarce resource that players compete for. To get a better idea of what is going on in Monochrome Racing, please have a look at the game video:

Introducing Jewel Keepers: Easter Island

Countries: , , , ,

Hello! This is Alex from Nordcurrent. We are releasing Jewel Keepers: Easter Island, our latest minis title, very soon, and I wanted to tell you a few things about it.

As you might have guessed from the title, Jewel Keepers: Easter Island is a Match-3 game set on the
Easter Island. As in all Match-3 games, you are required to swap adjacent jewels to put three jewels of the same colour next to each other in one row or column. However, we have added a few gameplay elements that make Jewel Keepers different. You can have a look at the trailer to see the differences:

When you start a new level, all cells are grey. When jewels disappear, they turn grey cells into golden
cells, and the goal of the game is to turn all cells into golden ones. This sounds pretty straight-forward
when you think of an ordinary rectangular level. However, as you progress further, you will be faced
with more sophisticated level shapes, and it will get more and more challenging. And satisfying, once
you complete the level.

Jewel Keepers Blog _ 02

And a few words about bonuses: we wanted to make bonuses a bit different from other games. We have time bombs that destroy all adjacent jewels of one colour. We have horizontal and vertical bombs that destroy all jewels in one row or column once activated. There is a Randomized Jewel that rapidly changes its colour and, once you activate it, all jewels of its current colour will be destroyed.

And let’s not forget that the game is set on the Easter Island! There is a story with nice comic-like cut- scenes about a mystery that is unveiling on the Easter Island, which is also a nice addition for those who like a good story.

Introducing Urbanix

Countries: , , , ,

Hello! This is Alex from Nordcurrent. I’d like to talk about Urbanix – a minis title that is available now from PlayStation Store.

urbanix 01

Core Urbanix’s gameplay is a mixture between Xonix and Qix – you control a tiny little tractor that needs to conquer the playfield. When you are travelling over the unoccupied land, you leave a trail. If the trail is hit by an enemy or yourself – you lose a life. Very simple, yet deep gameplay. To get a better idea of what is going on in Urbanix, please have a look at Urbanix video.

Urbanix takes place in three worlds – Town, North Pole and Moon Base. Apart from the visuals, these worlds are fundamentally different in terms of gameplay. In Town, you just need to conquer and empty territory. In North Pole, you need to clear the area from the snow first, and then conquer it (so you need to conquer the area twice) and in Moon Base you need to conquer the area three times.

Each world consists of 50 levels, so you have plenty of work to do.

urbanix 02

We have 3 enemy types in Urbanix – Landrunners, Helisharks and Housecrashers. Landrunners are the easiest and the dumbest ones. All they do is run from one side to another without even changing their direction. If they hit you or your tail, you lose a life. Helisharks are flying after you, and if you’re caught, you need to break away by rapidly pressing the L and R buttons. If you are successful, you will get away; if not, you will lose a life. And finally Housecrashers – they are harmless, but very annoying. They run around and destroy the houses you’ve built. So as soon as you see one, you need to scare it away as fast as you can.

urbanix 03

Urbanix has numerous bonuses, both good and bad. Look out for those, as they might determine your success.

And last but not least, we wanted this game to look good not only on handheld screen, but also on TV. That’s why we’ve gone for full 3D that also looks great on PS3.

Introducing 101-in-1 Megamix

EnglishSelect a Language:

It’s Alex Bravve from Nordcurrent here. Today, I’m going to talk about our upcoming PSP game, available on PSN only: 101-in-1 Megamix. It will be released on 21st of September in North America and on 22nd of September in Europe.

As many of you have already guessed, 101-in-1 Megamix is a collection of 101 mini-games in different genres, ranging from arcade and puzzles, to space racing and cooking.

Introducing 101-in-1 Megamix from Nordcurrent

The game is structured as a series of humorous TV shows about underwater world, music, cooking and more. There is an unprecedented variety in visuals and game worlds. This is one of the few games that can take you from the Wild West to space and from Paradise Islands to a fancy restaurant.

Introducing 101-in-1 Megamix from Nordcurrent

Some of the games are based on well-known classics, and it will be easy to get an idea of where the inspiration came from.

Introducing 101-in-1 Megamix from Nordcurrent

However most of the games are completely original. We had lots of ideas about fun gameplay and fun visuals that wouldn’t work as standalone projects, but would be really fun as a wacky mini-game. Here we were able to choose the best ones and finally do them. Hope you will enjoy them.

Introducing 101-in-1 Megamix from Nordcurrent

There are several game modes in 101-in-1 Megamix. The most important is TV Guide Mode – this is where you progress further into the game, unlock new games (only 15 of them are unlocked in the very beginning), get bonuses, etc.

Introducing 101-in-1 Megamix from Nordcurrent

More than a dozen of the games have an ad-hoc multiplayer. So you can grab your family or a friend and enjoy this mayhem together. There are two multiplayer modes in 101-in-1 Megamix – an ordinary multiplayer mode, and a Marathon mode. In Marathon mode, you are given a list of five randomly assigned games and you have to complete all 5 of them. The player who earns more points in all five is the winner.

Introducing 101-in-1 Megamix from Nordcurrent

101-in-1 Megamix is suitable for all ages and it will be as fun to play for your children or parents as it is for you. And did I say about the value for money? If you divide €14.99 (£11.99) by 101, it turns out that you pay less than 15 cents for a game! I don’t think any other game can beat us on PSP :)
