Nina’s having a well-deserved rest after singing and dancing away with the rest of our team and lots of you too last week at Gamescom, so you’ve got me this week.

I’ve got a good week though (in my opinion) and some amazing songs. First and foremost is the all-conquering Rihanna with her smash Rude Boy. This is a huge tune for those Summer SingStar parties and has a great video, bringing a carnival vibe to SingStar.

Nina has taken a well deserved holiday this week so you’re stuck with me this week.

First off I hope you’re having a good Valentine’s Day and are looking forward to the Brit awards on Tuesday. We’re currently very excited here at SingStar HQ as next week we are meeting up with Brit Nominee Ellie Goulding for a chat and a sing and we need your help! The greatly anticipated SingStar summer update is here, and boasts a whole array of great new SingStar features for you to get your teeth into.

The update allows players to compete in an Online Battle against their friends. If you and a friend own the same song, get your mics ready, send them an invitation and let your SingStar battle commence!

You can now create playlists on your PSP with SingStar Remote so that your SingStar party never gets interrupted, and get feedback on your natural vibrato when you sing with true professional style.

Many of you are keen to know more about SingStar Dance and SingStar Guitar, which will be launching later this year. Dave Ranyard, SingStar’s Game Director has kindly taken some time out from his busy schedule to answer some questions about both titles.

If you want to know more about either of the games, feel free to leave a question on this post for Dave and the team to answer.

Will I have to buy all my SingStore songs again to play SingStar Guitar and SingStar Dance?

You will be able to upgrade your existing SingStore songs to be compatible with both titles for less than the cost of a full song. We will be rolling out song upgrades in our regular SingStore updates. Pricing will be confirmed nearer to launch.

How many people can play SingStar Dance and SingStar Guitar?

Up to four people at any time can play – two singers and two dancers, or two singers and two guitarists.
You won’t be able to play Dance and Guitar at the same time.

Do I need to have the PlayStation Move motion controller to play SingStar Dance?

You can play SingStar Dance as a normal SingStar, with two microphones. You only need PlayStation Move controller for each person who wishes to dance, one Move controller per dancer.

Will SingStar Dance and SingStar Guitar have the same My SingStar Online features as a regular SingStar game?

Yes, all the online features remain the same, including Online Battle! We can’t wait to see all those great videos and snapshots of the community dancing and performing, doing what they do best.

Can I buy the SingStar Dance and SingStar Guitar disc and just play it like a regular SingStar game?

Yes, players can choose only to sing, removing the other elements from it.

When playing SingStar Dance do you only see the live camera feed or can you choose to have the artist video?

As with SingStar and PlayStation Eye, you can choose to display either a camera feed on-screen, or display the artist video in the background, so no change there. We have added a quick change button so that you can switch between the camera’s live feed and the artist video.

Will the features be downloadable or unlockable from the SingStore like the SingStar Video Editor, or will they be patched in?

We are always planning new features in the SingStore Extras section, so please watch this space.

Hello I’m Chris, the Senior Online Producer on SingStar and I’m just bringing you a short update on more great features we are releasing in the June SingStar update, alongside Online Battle.

First though, thanks to everyone who has taken part in our Beta so far, and those who have signed up for the next Beta events, there has been a great response. We have received loads of valuable feedback from you all and been working hard to get fixes and improvements into the game.

Onto the features though…

First up is SingStar Remote, which enables you to connect to SingStar with a PSP during a game session and create a playlist of up to 20 songs. The playlist can be edited whilst someone else is singing, allowing you to queue up loads of songs to play from a carousel on the PSP and move swiftly form one song to the next, ensuring no break in your SingStar party. Ever.

For truly professional SingStar players we have upgraded our gameplay to give the player feedback when you are singing with extra style using your natural vibrato. We suggest honing your vibrato skill on Gold by Spandau Ballet, Street Spirit by Radiohead or one of the tracks from the Il Divo SongPack. Good luck!

SingStar Clubs are expanding, a single club can now have up to 1000 members, and you will be able to join up to five clubs.

We have also made a couple of minor changes to the SingStore - you will be able to view users’ videos in the community galleries directly from a song in the SingStore, and move directly from a song to a corresponding SongPack in which it features.

We hope that you will enjoy all the features coming in the June update and look forward to getting more feedback from those of you that are taking part in the Beta trials. For those of you that aren’t taking part in the Beta, it’d be great to hear your comments on these new features below.

Hi and welcome to the first SingStore update in September! Nina is actually on holiday this week so I am posting the update for you and answering questions you might have. I’m Chris, by the way, the Online Producer for SingStar.

This Thursday you’ll be able to expand your SingStar repertoire by downloading great tracks including The Cure’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’, ‘Baby I Don’t Care’ from Transvision Vamp and massive hit ‘Heartbreaker’ by Will.I.Am featuring Cheryl Cole.

Plus, there’s more on offer from the ever-popular Coldplay, The Killers, Vampire Weekend and the Kaiser Chiefs.

German, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish singers can hot up their respective parties with songs like Dionysos and ‘Tes lacets sont des fées’, ‘Verliefd Zijn’ by Guus Meeuwis and Peter Wackel’s ‘Joana’.

Oh, and don’t forget to check out the fantastic Blondie SongPack, too.
