Buzz! Brain Of The UK Finalist Found!

Last night stage two of Buzz! Brain of the world was held in the UK. The top Brainiacs from all over the UK made their way to London to compete for the Buzz! Brain of the UK crown. Contestants flew in from every corner of the UK including Belfast, Glasgow, Bangor, even the Isle of Man and they all came head strong, ready to battle it out to the very end.

Buzz! Brain of the UK, Finalists

With a few unfortunately unable to attend at the last minute due to sickness the night began with three rounds of Buzz! seeing each contestant play for a place in the semi finals. Only two from each group could go through and after a nail biting couple of rounds our semi finalists were whittled down to the FINAL FOUR.

The final four consisted of Andrew, Ian, Glen and Tony of whom you can see below in the final photo. It was a nail biting finish and the final countdown round proved that anything could happen as the contestants podiums constantly fluctuated in height, battling for that place in the World Final.

Buzz! Brain of the UK, Finalists

We’d like to congratulate Ian for winning stage two and being crowned Buzz! Brain of the UK. We, the UK team, would like to wish Ian all the best in the World final, we know you can do it! Go and make us proud Ian :)

A huge thank you must also go out to all the contestants that came to the event and competed. We hope you all had a great time.

Glastonbury Festival 2009 Review

Opening Glastonbury, Maximo Park took to the Queen’s Head Stage at 4.30pm Thursday after crowds had been gathering for hours in advance blocking all thoroughfares to other fields. It was a great start to a great festival!

Thursday saw rain overnight providing us all with the mud we wanted so that our new wellies were not a wasted purchase. But like all good festivals, the weather doesn’t put a dampner on the festival goers. With the dance village being one of only a handful of area’s open it was the place to be for the ultimate re-forming of East 17 followed by a night of dancing.

The Snug

As the weather got better over the weekend the revellers were definitely getting worse through the debilitating lack of sleep as each night became a longer dance fest.

Saturday night was Guilty Pleasures night in the Queen’s Head stage and Ian King, the winner of the Road To Glastonbury SingStar performance, really got the crowd going as he sang All Night Long, by Lionel Richie and finished with Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen. It’s not often you can say you’ve sang on stage at Glastonbury in front of about 2000 people so we must give Ian a massive congratulations (Vodcast link to follow soon so you can see his performance).

PlayStation@Glastonbury – Guilty Pleasures And The SingStar Champ!

Hello again

As a quick follow-up to my post yesterday about the great acts that we have lined up for all festival-goers at Glastonbury this weekend, I wanted to let you know about one very special singer who will be performing on Saturday…

A few months ago, SingStar and Guilty Pleasures embarked on a giant pop quest to find the UK Guilty Pleasures SingStar Champion of 2009. The live heats found some spectacular performances, but in the end it was Ian “Beetlejuice” King and his amazing rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody that won the grand prize: a PS3 with a copy of SingStar, a VIP trip to Glastonbury for 4 people AND an invitation to perform live on stage at the festival!

Congratulations once again, Ian. You can check out his winning performance in the video below:

Ian will be taking to the stage at the Queen’s Head Tent on Saturday, 27 June as part of the Guilty Pleasures set between midnight and 3am, which also includes DJ’s Sean Rowley and Johnno Burgess, plus camp cabaret from the DreamBears (who recently reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent).

The latest episodes in our series of Guilty Pleasures Podcasts, hosted by Sean Rowley, and SingStar Guilty Pleasures TV Vodcasts are also now available from iTunes:

If you’re heading to the festival this weekend, you’ll find the Queen’s Head tent and our SingStar Snug in “William’s Green”., where the Leftfield stage used to be just to the left of the Pyramid Stage (if you’re looking at it) and next to the kids field.

Have a great time,

Corrie

PlayStation @ Glastonbury – What’s On And Where You Can Find Us

Hi there. My name’s Corrie and I work in the SCE-UK office as a Product Manager. I’m here today to give you all a glimpse at what we’re up to at the 2009 Glastonbury Festival this weekend.

For three years, PlayStation has sponsored the Queen’s Head stage in conjunction with Q magazine, and we’re back at the festival again this year but now the Q tent has moved to it’s very own new field for 2009, called “William’s Green”.

The guys at Q magazine have hand-picked some great new talent to play live on stage in the Queen’s Head, with Maximo Park the opening act at 4pm on Thursday, and we’ll also have an immense PlayStation AV backdrop. Here’s the full line-up for the weekend:

The Queen's Head Line-Up - 25 June, Thursday

The Queen's Head Line-Up - 26 June, Friday

The Queen's Head Line-Up - 27 June, Saturday

The Queen's Head Line-Up - 28 June, Sunday

Located next to the Q Tent, and new for 2009, is The Snug. Set within a fantastic PapaKåta tent, you can chill-out throughout the day listening to live acoustic sets and dance the night away as the DJs keep you moving into the early hours of the morning.
