Hi Everyone, my name is Dom Matthews and I’m the European Product Manager for Resident Evil 5 at Capcom. I wanted to give you all the heads up that Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition is available from today for Playstation 3.  With such a lot of new content being released recently for Resident Evil 5, we’ve decided to bring everything together into one great value pack.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition truly is the ultimate Resident Evil 5 collection. The pack includes the multi-million selling Resident Evil 5 plus all downloadable content that has been released for the game to date.

The pack includes:

  • Resident Evil 5 – the original horror masterpiece
  • New Episode: Lost in Nightmares
  • New Episode: Desperate Escape
  • The Mercenaries Reunion
  • 4 New Costumes
  • Versus Mode

First up is Lost in Nightmares, which takes Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine to the infamous Spencer Mansion – but this time in glorious High Definition. Previously only seen in a Resident Evil 5 cut scene, Lost in Nightmares tells the story of when Chris and Jill enter the mansion and end up face to face with terror. Packed with puzzles and infused with its characteristic atmosphere, Lost in Nightmares takes Resident Evil 5 back to some of its heritage.

Unlike the puzzle based Lost in Nightmares, Desperate Escape, the second additional episode, is a full throttle battle against unrelenting waves of enemies. Desperate Escape tells the story of when BSAA agent Josh Stone and Jill fight together to escape the Tricell facility through hordes of Majini.

Mercenaries Reunion gives you the opportunity to play Mercenaries mode with some real classic Resident Evil characters. First off you can play as Josh Stone from Desperate Escape and Excella from Resident Evil 5. You can also play as rookie S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca Chambers and the legendary Barry Burton.

In Versus Mode you can lead your favourite RE5 characters into the horror online. Compete for points by taking on the Majini or fight against other players in Slayers mode. You can fight alone or in a team of up to 4.

In addition to all of the above you get 4 fetching new costumes for Sheva and Chris which can be used throughout the game’s various modes.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition is a great value pack for those new to the game or those just wanting to get the biggest and best Resident Evil 5 experience.

Thanks for listening. One Love.

New Bionic Commando Rearmed Update Includes Trophy Support

Hi everyone, my name is Dominic Matthews and I’m a European Product Manager at Capcom.

As some of you may have seen on PlayStation.Blog.US there is a new update coming soon for Bionic Commando Rearmed, which includes Trophy support. I’m happy to confirm that this update will also be coming to the SCEE region. Although we can’t put a precise date on when the update will be live, it is currently in QA so should be released really soon.

In addition to Trophy support the update includes:

  • New “Normal” difficulty setting, which includes the following changes:
    • When you die you respawn at the last solid ground or checkpoint
    • The level Albatross B is cut
    • The ability to reel out the cable when hanging or swinging to its full length
  • If the player swings into a wall, they will no longer always disconnect and be thrown away from the wall. Instead they will keep connected and reel in.
  • Unlimited lives
  • Super Joe Machine Gun bug fix
  • When upgraded, the weapon becomes more powerful in addition to the larger clip. This is fixed for all difficulties.

As mentioned over on PlayStation.Blog.US, this update really came about because of the conversations and feedback between Capcom and the community on the PlayStation Blog and Capcom forums. The moral of the story being that open communication can lead to better games! Whilst we’re not always able to follow up on all requests, we are listening to what the community is saying.

Thanks for all the feedback and involvement so far. Please keep it up!
