Some of you may have read reports of a new PS3 exclusive called The Last of Us set to be revealed at the Spike TV 2011 Video Game Award Show (VGAs). We are now happy to reveal that The Last of Us is being developed by Naughty Dog Inc., creators of such acclaimed game series as Uncharted, Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot.

The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Abandoned cities are being reclaimed by nature and the remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave, young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

“We are excited to finally unveil The Last of Us, a project the team has been working hard on for some time,” said Evan Wells, co president of Naughty Dog Inc. “Naughty Dog’s mission is to change the way people experience videogames. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry.”

The day has finally arrived, inFamous 2 is now available on store shelves across Australia and New Zealand. Players can finally resume the role of reluctant superhero Cole MacGrath, as he returns for the second electrifying chapter in the best selling PlayStation 3 franchise.

We were lucky enough to have game designer Joe Ishikura from Sucker Punch (the developers of the game) visit us in Australia for an exclusive Community Event a couple of weeks ago. Joe personally presented to us, many of the ‘key’ new features of the game. We were joined by a group of our core PlayStation Community members who proceeded to ask Joe a tonne of questions about the game’s development.

Joe focused on two key points during his presentation. The first point was ‘escalation of scale’. This refers to the game environments, game enemies, and of course, the scale of Cole’s own ‘powers’. With bigger foes to deal with (queue ‘the beast’), Cole finds himself having to acquire some truly gargantuan powers, like the ‘Ionic Vortex’ (a giant tornado of destruction that swallows everything in its path). These amped up powers are simply amazing to watch, particularly when used in areas containing highly destructible structures (like timber houses etc). The second point that Joe emphasized to us was ‘user generated content’. Players can now create and share their own unique levels across the PlayStation Network, which adds limitless longevity to the game. While playing over the last week, I already managed to stumble upon a whole bunch of user generated levels that have been designed by the Sucker Punch guys themselves. These bonus ‘UGC’ levels are a joy to discover. They show up as ‘green missions’ on random parts of the game environment, and playing through them is a great little detour from the main campaign.

To celebrate the launch of inFamous 2 in Australia, we have created a great little Facebook app on our PlayStation fan page. The app lets you build and caption your own inFamous 2 comic (and share it with your friends). You can try the app here. Also, don’t forget to download the free inFamous 2 demo, which is now available via PSN.

It’s great to have Cole back in this much anticipated sequel, and as if that wasn’t enough, we can now also look forward to Cole joining the cast of the recently announced Streetfighter X Tekken game being developed for the PSVita. The future looks bright indeed for inFamous!

It’s finally here – inFamous 2 – the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed sequel to 2009′s smash hit inFamous will be making it’s way into retail across PAL from today. Check out the trailer below:

Take on the role of Cole MacGrath, who has fled Empire City only to find himself in New Marais, a lawless and violent city. inFamous: Anarchy drops you into the post-apocalyptic world of Empire City.

Over the past few weeks we have gone into more and more detail about the Karma system in inFAMOUS 2, this kicked off with the PlayStation Experience on February 1st where we unveiled Nix and Kuo, the representations of chaos and order in Cole’s world. DC Universe Online launches across PAL markets from today!

DC Universe Online is the first massively multiplayer online (MMO) game on PlayStation 3 and the first online game based in the DC Universe, allowing fans to create their own superhero or villain while joining forces with their favorite DC Comics characters such as Superman, Batman and The Joker to aid in saving – or destroying – the planet.

To capture the true essence of the DC Universe and its iconic characters, Sony Online Entertainment tapped the top talent at DC Comics, including legendary artist and co-publisher of DC Entertainment, Jim Lee, who served as executive creative director for DC Universe Online and provided the art style for the game. Famed DC Comic Book writers Geoff Johns and Marv Wolfman were tasked with establishing the back-story of the Universe and creating thousands of compelling story arcs, epic quests and action-packed in-game events. For example, players might be tasked with rescuing Batwoman from the fear gas that Scarecrow has unleashed in Gotham City’s sewers, or battle Power Girl as they work with Lex Luthor to create an army of mutants out of Metropolis citizens.

One important thing to be aware of, when it’s over…so is the DCUO Beta! (Each server will shut down at the end of the event.)

DC Universe Online is coming early 2011 to PS3 and PC.

It’s gone gold!

We can now confirm the DC Universe Online is in production and winging your way (perhaps a little bit sooner than you thought it would?). Here are the release dates:

PS3 & PC versions:

• 14th January 2011: UK & Ireland
• 12th January 2011: Rest of PAL

And both versions come complete with a 30 day subscription key.

Though, please note, depending on where you’re based, some stock may take a little longer to arrive in stores due to manufacturing and the festive break. So, please double check with your local retailer.

The first current-gen console MMOAG, (massively multiplayer online action game) DCUO throws you into a huge interactive environment where you take control of your own uniquely created character and engage with other players, whether chatting and creating new friendships, teaming up on adventures or taking part in fierce battles.

Because the world you’re playing in is constantly online, it’s always evolving – you may go away for a few weeks, come back and discover whole new areas or people. The more you keep coming back, the more you’ll find and enjoy.

Being an MMO, DCUO does require you to have an active subscription to enter the game. Here are the subscription packages available in PAL:
