Since we launched the first version of the PlayStation Official App back in January, we have consistently been keeping an eye on your feedback and ideas on the Blog, Twitter, Android Market and iTunes.

I’m pleased to announce that the next version (1.1) will include some of the most requested features. This new version will be available for download in a few weeks from iTunes and Android Market. Let’s take a look at the new features and improvements.

In the MyPSN section you’ll be able to order your friend list based on their online status and search for friends.

Through the exhaustive catalogue of games available on playstation.com you can start showing your friends your gaming tastes, from your old favourite arcade game to the latest hits coming to PlayStation 3. By clicking on the Like button, you will be prompted to login to Facebook. Once you’re logged in, just click on the Like button and then that game will appear on your facebook wall.

On news content on eu.playstation.com, you will find the facebook Recommend button that let you share your favourite articles in the same way that the Like button let you share your favourite games. You can also leave a comment that will appear on your wall every time you click Like and Recommend.

Finally, you’ll notice that the home page of eu.playstation.com has been redesigned to help you find the latest and most popular content. The facebook panel will also show you what the other facebook users have shared on the site. If you’re not already a fan of Sony PlayStation on facebook, you can become one now by clicking on the “Become a Fan” button.

We’re hoping to roll out similar functionality on the PlayStation Blog later this week.

Hi Everybody,

It’s my great pleasure to announce to you today that James Gallagher is now officially our new Blog Manager.

I’m sure you’ll all agree with me that James, over the last month, has been doing a fantastic job of updating you with the latest news from E3 and creating some original and interesting features. I particularly liked the build up to E3 with the reviews of the previous years. If you’ve missed these posts you can read them here

James comes from a journalistic background and has a high interest in games. He has been creating content for eu.playstation.com for the last two and half years.

When James applied for the job, I asked him what he would like do differently on the blog and he had some really good ideas; you can definitely expect more interactive content such as live chats and competitions. But above all, James will do his best to be at the start of conversations between you and PlayStation whether you read the Blog, follow us on Twitter or get involved on our Facebook fanpage .

Please join me in congratulating James for his new position and don’t hesitate to let him know what kind of content you’d like to see more of on the Blog.

Hi Everybody,

After spending 10 months with us running the PlayStation.Blog and providing you with your daily gaming news, I would like to say thank you and farewell to Jem Alexander, who has moved on from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. We will continue to keep you updated with as much content and breaking news as usual. Join me in wishing Jem all the best for his future endeavours. And here’s a few words from Jem for you…

Well guys, it’s been an amazing ride, but my time at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has now come to an end. Since I started here last year — the week before gamescom, where we announced the PS3 Slim, no less — it’s been my absolute pleasure to bring you the latest news from within the company, as well as from our third party partners. Since then we’ve announced and released some amazing games.

I truly appreciate the time you take out of your busy days to read the site, so as editor of the PlayStation.Blog I wanted every post to be about the games that you would want to play. Thankfully our first party line-up has been absolutely stellar, with Uncharted 2 sitting firmly among my top three games of all time, so we’ve had as many Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, Move and Uncharted 2 posts as our team could muster. Mostly because I’m as interested in hearing about them as I know you are — and don’t you worry, there are plenty more great first party titles coming that have yet to be announced.

As many of you know I was a blogger at Joystiq before I came here. I love games (I think that’s obvious), and I love talking, reading and writing about them. Although I’m moving on from the PlayStation.Blog, I won’t be moving on from that interest and I’m sure you’ll see me around.

As a Sony loyalist since the days of the original PlayStation, it’s been a pleasure and an honour working at Sony Computer Entertainment. From what I’ve seen, we Sony fans have a lot to look forward to over the next year or so and I’ve no doubt that the PlayStation.Blog will continue to be the number one place to hear each new announcement as it happens.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to play an obscene amount of ModNation Racers.
Wishing you all the best,

Jem

Hi all,

We are aware of the issues with PSN Store. Here’s an update on the problem:

Wallet Top ups using Credit/Debit Cards
Some customers were unable to add funds to their account yesterday. If customers tried to top up their wallets multiple times yesterday they should wait a few hours from their last attempt before trying again. As we expect traffic on PlayStation Network to be extremely high over the coming days customers should try to make any purchases outside of peak hours if at all possible (off-peak hours: morning/early afternoon Western European time).

A small number of customers may have noticed PlayStation®Network transactions on their credit/debit card or their available credit limit reduced, but these top ups may not have been reflected in their PlayStation Network accounts. These transactions should be reversed within the next 24 hours.

Wallet Top ups using PSN Cards
Wallet top ups using PSN Cards should not have been affected by the problems yesterday. If any customer has had problems redeeming their PSN Cards please let us know.

Problems Downloading
Some customers are experiencing problems downloading or installing the Call of Duty add-on and have experienced error code 80029564. As customers have the option to download all 7 versions of the add-on they should identify which disc they have (disc ID can be found on the spine of the game’s case) and only download the appropriate version for their disc. Where the download or install failed customers should attempt to re-download and install during off-peak hours if possible (off-peak hours: morning/early afternoon Western Europe time)

We hope to resolve these issues soon and we apologise for the inconvenience.

Follow PlayStationEU on Twitter for regular updates on this problem.

Emmanuel

Hi Everybody,

It’s with great pleasure that I announce the launch today of two new Blogs for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

The first is the German Blog; you will meet Roland and the team who will share with you all events and news happening in Germany and Austria.

The second Blog that will go live today is the Italian Blog and the existing blog.playstationplanet.it will be replaced very soon by the Italian version of the PlayStation.Blog. It’s the same team that will be taking care of the new Italian PlayStation.Blog, you probably already know Maurizio who has been doing a brilliant job in providing the community with all the PlayStation news for Italy.

What can you expect from these new Blogs?

First of all, pretty much everything that we post on the English Blog that is relevant to a European audience will be localised and available in your language on the new Italian and German Blogs. On the top of this content, you will find all the news and events happening around you in your country.

You will probably wonder what happened to the French Blog and the Spanish Blog, they will both be launching very soon… I’ll announce the launch date on the European Blog soon. So watch this space!

A prestissimo sul PlayStation Blog italiano – blog.it.playstation.com

Bis bald in deinem lokalen Blog auf blog.de.playstation.com

Update: 20 July 2009
Hello! Great news – the new PSN Trophy features are now live! To compare your trophies with your Friends in the new leaderboard, go to eu.playstation.com, sign-in using your PSN Online ID then head over to My PlayStation Network / My Trophies. Enjoy

——–

Hi everyone. My name is Emmanuel (or “Manu” as everybody calls me) and I’m the Portal Manager here at SCEE, which means that I look after eu.playstation.com.

Back in March this year we released new PSN functionality on eu.playstation.com, in particular the ability to directly check your Trophies and the status’ of your friends on the website, plus a new Trophy-friendly version of the Portable ID.

Already more than half a million of you have enjoyed these new features and continued to update your Portable ID on a regular basis, so thank you very much for your support.

Since the launch of the PSN channel, we’ve been listening to the community in order to plan further enhancements to the section and I’m happy to say that from mid-July you’ll be able to enjoy two great new and much-requested features on eu.playstation.com…

First up is the new “My Trophies – Compare with your friends” page, which is fairly self-explanatory but will enable you to line up your Trophy collection alongside that of your PSN Friends.

Many of you also requested a Leaderboard, so you can see how you rank against your PSN Friends, and whether you’ve moved up, down or stayed in the same spot. So here’s a look at the new Leaderboard:

This is still work in progress and the design of these pages might change slightly, but as we get closer to the launch of these new features we’ll let you know more details on how they’ll work and the exact release date.

Back in March I said this is just the start of new exciting ways of enjoying your PSN world and it still is: keep an eye on eu.playstation.com for even more new features coming soon. I’m also keen to get ideas and feedback from you, so don’t hesitate to post your comments here on the Blog or into the Forums.
On a final and separate note, I just wanted to remind you to keep your PSN sign in details safe: never tell anyone else your PSN Sign-In ID (email address) or password, and only use these details to log-in to official PlayStation websites.

See you soon on eu.playstation.com.

Manu
