Hey there PlayStation Blog. Christmas is right around the corner and MonkeyPaw Games would like to add to the list of good things that you could be doing during the holidays.

First, we have some fantastic news for our fans that downloaded our classic titles Alundra and Tomba over the past few months.

These games were emulated from their North American versions. In the process of emulation, the games were afflicted with periodical slowness during some video cut scenes and audio playback. While the games were still playable, they suffered in that users had to endure what was less than perfect condition.

Today we’re proud to announce the highly anticipated release of classic platformer/adventure Tomba! on the EU PlayStation Network. This marks the first time that our pink-haired hero will be available digitally in Europe, exclusively for download in the PSone Classics section.

Tomba! was originally developed at Whoopee Camp back in 1997 by Tokuro Fujiwara who masterminded some of the industry’s most popular franchises, including Ghosts & Goblins and Mega Man. A truly revolutionary game for its time, Tomba! offers a fresh mix of platforming and sub-quest based adventures that make it one of the most interesting PlayStation titles in the Store.

There is a lot going on here at MonkeyPaw Games! In the past few months, we’ve released our trilogy series Arc the Lad and Alundra on the PlayStation Network Classic section. We hope you’ve enjoyed these games and we have a few more classic Japanese RPGs up our sleeves that we plan to bring you shortly.

In some other news, we’ve released the classic platformer Tomba! on the North American PlayStation Network Import section. I wanted to mention that here because of the HUGE response we’ve received from our European fans. Thank you for your unbridled support! We hope to have a release date for you shortly.

And we’re not done yet. Our goal is rock your retro world. That’s why we’ve populated the Import and Classic sections with unique Japanese gems. We’ve tried to stress the weird and wacky in our selections. Some are famous, some are not, but each game is sure to exceed a level of excellence. So while you may not have heard of all our games, each one is guaranteed to satisfy. And this week’s release is a good example.

It seems every gamer harbours a dream to get his game idea to come to life. The process for bringing a game concept to a console is long and littered with unending hazards. How does it actually happen? When a designer comes up with a concept, it has to be original and exciting enough to get broad buy-in from a wide swath of staff. It also helps to have a license. And of course every game needs a compelling hook.
