Introducing Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes

Countries: , , , ,

It’s Rich from Capcom here today to talk to you about the next Capcom title, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. This will be released on 15 October.

Hopefully you will have already heard of the game, but if you haven’t, here is a quick introduction, in a form that everyone can easily understand . . . a fun fact list!

1) The game takes place during the Sengoku era in Japan. This period between the 15th and early 17th centuries was also known as the warring states period as many warlords and clan vied for control of Japan.

2) The decisive battle during this period took place at Sekigahara in 1600 which cleared the way for Tokugawa Ieyasu to establish the first Shogunate in Japan. This battle is also the main event in the game!

3) All of the characters in the game are based on real historical figures from the Sengoku era . . .

4) But not all of their moves and powers are based on real life abilities (well, strictly speaking we don’t know that but I’m pretty sure they aren’t all possible – check out the video if you don’t believe me).

5) The game is known as Sengoku Basara 3 in Japan.

6) The series has been so popular in Japan that it has spawned a sub-culture of female fans known as ‘Rekiio’ or history women.

7) One of the main characters, Masamune Date, has been used in a poster for a mayoral election in Miyagi, Japan.

8 ) Next time you’re in Japan you could visit the Sengoku Basara theme park or try your vocal skills at the Sengoku Basara karaoke.

9) There is an anime series based on the game which is from the same animation house as the legendary ‘Ghost in the Shell’ and the anime sequence from ‘Kill Bill: Part 1′.

10) There are over 100 items to collect in the game. These items can be used to improve your abilities, weapons and your allies.

11) You can work with another player in the game to boost your XP and accumulate more of the in game currency as you take on swathes of enemies together.

12) Although your character starts with only one special ‘Basara’ move, you unlock more abilities as your XP increases throughout the game (some of these are truly mental, such as the 17th Century jet-pack attack).

13) The game will be launched on 15 October Europe and Australia (or did I already mention that one?)

You can see the latest trailer from the game below or head over to www.samuraiheroes.com to find out more about the characters and see them in (true to life) action.

PS3 Exclusive For Lost Planet 2

Countries: , , , ,

Hi Everyone,

It’s Rich from Capcom here with some exciting news about another PS3 exclusive for Lost Planet 2. Hot on the heels of the Monster Hunter skin announcement earlier in the week we now have more very special guests making their presence felt on the PS3 version of Lost Planet 2

E.D.N.III is a harsh place, a planet where you must fight against vicious akrid and the hostile elements. It takes a particularly double hard bastard to take on these odds and they don’t come much tougher than the Helghast Assault and Helghast Scout troops.

The most feared units from Killzone now get to take on Lost Planet 2’s pirate factions and the deadly giant Akrid. These skins will be available to download for free on PSN from the end of June.

I also wanted to say thanks to all of you who posted comments on my last post. In answer to the question from LAClennell, yes, Frank West is also available in the PS3 version of the game!

Lost Planet 2 Release!

Hi Everyone,

It’s Rich from Capcom here to share my excitement at today’s release of Lost Planet 2. Yipee!

The sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions has seen massive changes take place across the planet of E.D.N.III. We think we’ve got climate change issues? Earth has nothing on this place! The snow has melted across the planet to reveal all kinds of hostile environments in which you will have to adapt and do battle. The local Akrid creatures are also still as angry as ever . . .

As well as changes to the environment the game has also seen massive advances for the sequel. The multi-player mode for the game sees you and three mates work together through 6 massive levels battling rival pirate clans, akrid creatures and massive (and I really mean MASSIVE) bosses. To help you take on all these enemies there is a huge array of weapons and Vital-Suits which amounts to some seriously hard firepower.

There’s also a huge level of customisation in the game with which you can create your own unique pirate and unlock weapons, power ups and emotes. You can then take your own character into the online multiplayer modes to unleash some serious pwnage. PS3 owners will even be able to customise their characters using the Rathalos Armour from Monster Hunter in a download exclusive to the PlayStation3 which will be available in late May.

Lost Planet 2 Demo Now Available!

Countries: , , , ,

Hello all,

It’s Rich from Capcom here to let you know that you can download the brand new multi-player demo for Lost Planet 2 from PSN today.

The multiplayer demo gives you the opportunity to take on all challengers on the Jungle map in 2-16 players versus mode. You’ll also get a taste of the extensive customisation that is in Lost Planet 2 and be able to try out some of the many, many weapons that are in the game as you hunt down your friends and strangers in the death-match mode. If you download the demo you will also access a unique weapon when you play the full version of Lost Planet 2!

You can check out the below trailer to get a taste of the huge level of customisation that is available to your own personal pirate in the game. As well as the large arsenal to play with you can customise the look of your pirate (with some quite frankly, crazy options), change your special abilities and even select unique in game emotes (once again, some of these are mental).

If you haven’t yet tried out the co-op demo for Lost Planet 2 where you and three friends can take on the mighty Gordiant Akrid you can download this today for both the PS3 and XB360.

Keep your eyes peeled for more information and trailers on the game in the coming weeks on the PS Blog. In the meantime you can head over to www.lostplanet2game.com to satiate all your Lost Planet 2 needs. . .

Happy hunting!

Dark Void Demo Available This Week

Hi everybody and a happy 2010 from us all at Capcom! I hope you’ve all had a good holiday and are now planning on how to lose that ‘holiday weight’ we’ve all dragged back to work with us? For me I will be off the sauce until at least the next day with a ‘y’ in it… it’s the least I can do.

Dark Void

Anyway, I’m not here to tell you about dietary tactics but I am instead here to tell you that the PS3 demo for Dark Void will be available to download on PSN from the 7th January. With the game hitting the shops on 22nd January this is a great opportunity to get your very own hands-on play with the game and check it out for yourselves. The demo gives you a fantastic introduction to the game and is a great cross section of the broad experience you’ll get in the full game. You can fly around at break neck speeds with the full jet-pack taking on the dastardly Watchers with your arsenal of weapons. For those of you who are feeling particularly daredevil-esque you can even fly indoors as you lay the beat down in the Void.

So, that’s the Dark Void demo available to download on 7th January 2010. In the meantime you can find out more information on the game at www.darkvoidgame.com and keep your eyes peeled for a cracking competition later this month…

Dark Void

All the best

Rich
