A PlayStation House Party

As you no doubt know, the PlayStation Network Video Store is now live in the UK, France, Germany and Spain – I’m watching Dumb and Dumber on my PS3 as I write this.

So last night, in true SCEE tradition, we had a launch party to celebrate this fantastic addition to PlayStation Store and allow journalists and people from the film industry to try it out. We were lucky enough to have a fantastic venue in London’s House of St. Barnabas, and our events team decked the place out in its own inimitable style. Hopefully, these pictures give you an idea of their fine work.

Once the space filled up we had Mark Hardy, European Product Marketing Director, announce that the Video Store contains more than 2000 films, both HD and SD at launch and that weekly updates will contain at least 50 titles.

With the announcements out of the way, Little Boots arrived and gave a tiny, packed room a lovely acoustic performance on the grand piano. After that, Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac kept the music going until midnight when I got turfed out and a horde of people appeared out of nowhere and started dismantling the party.

I’ve been putting my feet up and watching some films. I’m thinking of watching 300… I mean the film 300, not 300 films. Is it any good?

I’m really sorry, but I won’t be around to answer any of your questions or comments, but I hope this post gives you a good idea of what a PlayStation house party looks like.

James.

Blue Toad Murder Files First Teaser Video

Hi everyone,

We had such a great time on the Blog a few weeks ago that we’ve come back to show you our first teaser video for Blue Toad Murder Files!

The comments on the Blog were really encouraging. It’s great for us to have the chance to speak to you directly about your thoughts on the game. Please let us know what you think about the video.

This is only our first video but it should give you a few hints about the style, characters and storyline in the game. We’ll be releasing two further trailers before the game launches so you can find out a little more about our suspects. Although we’re not going to give too much away and spoil it for anyone!

Enjoy.

Thanks,

David and Andy

‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (19th November 2009)

Okay, I’m not going to beat around the bush, I think we’ve got a cracking line-up this week…and if you all moan at me this week, you will have crushed my last bit of faith in humanity:)

For PS3 users you can get hold of Critter Crunch (trial and unlock) and Invincible Tiger, as well as the demo for Smash Cars, there are two packs available for Dragon Age: Origins (that’s my weekend gone then) and a host of other content too.

Oh, did I mention a certain Snake makes an appearance this week too…we finally have the PSone classic Metal Gear Solid available!

Also, I think you PSP owners will be feeling some love this week with titles available such as LittleBigPlanet, Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, The Warriors and plenty more. There are also two further minis on the store this week, Echoes and Pinball Dreams; for the full list of this week’s content have a scroll down.

There will also be a couple of titles made available this coming Tuesday (24th of November)…I was going to be mean and keep you waiting but I wouldn’t do that to you all :) . Therefore on Tuesday you’ll be able to get hold of Gravity Crash (both the full game and a trial & unlock) and for LittleBigPlanet an Assasssin’s Creed costume will be available too.

Leave comments as usual, but please keep in mind that I don’t work on the Video Download Service, so I won’t be supplying answers about that…

Have a good week!
