LittleBigPlanet Creator’s Edition Update

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to everyone in the PlayStation community who has contacted us regarding an issue with the Creator’s Edition of LittleBigPlanet. We wanted to let you know that we are aware of this problem, and I would first like to apologize, and also explain what has happened.

The content of the LittleBigPlanet Creator’s Edition has not yet gone live, and all of you who bought the Creator’s Edition have been unable to redeem your voucher codes. We know you’re probably itching to use Create mode with many of the assets you were familiar with in the PS3 edition of the game.

Unfortunately we’ve hit a couple of last minute technical hurdles that have forced us to refine and re-master the additional downloadable content in the Creator’s Edition. We need to ensure that these issues are resolved properly so that you have the best possible experience with the game when you download the content. The content is now going through a rigorous quality assurance (QA) process with our internal teams, and once they are satisfied, it will be sent to our Format QA teams (FQA) in Europe and America for final sign off, which takes approximately 10 working days. After FQA approval is granted, the content will be uploaded to the servers, which takes a day or two, and then it will be ready for you to download. This gives us a target release date of Monday 7th December (as always, there could be a delay of a few days if FQA find any issues, but we will keep you updated).

We realize that this is far from ideal, and to help make up for it, we’ll make sure we include a few extra items, above and beyond the content you’re expecting, as a way of saying sorry for our mistake.

Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for the delay. We can only hope that you’re enjoying LittleBigPlanet on PSP, and that the wealth of new themes, materials, stickers and other items will allow you to build your dream creations until the DLC is ready.

Yours apologetically,

Mark Green
Senior Producer

Media Go 1.3 update

Lets get straight to the point – Media Go, the free software that lets you manage your PSP game, music, video and photos on your PC has been updated with some handy new features in version 1.3…

… and here they are …

Download status is now displayed, letting you know how long until you can start playing that new game.

Image 1

You can also now pause your downloads allowing you to control which items in the list download first, so if you have just brought a great new game for your PSP you can pause everything else, get the game and start to get through the levels while the rest of your content downloads.

System update notice – when you plug your PSP into your PC it will automatically suggest you update to the latest PSP system software if you haven’t already. Handy, if you’re like me and constantly forget to update.

Bonus Digital Copy – Media Go 1.3 now detects if there is extra bonus copy for your PSP on a DVD or Blu-ray disc. This feature will start to be used by the studios in the future to give you extra features from films and games specifically for your PSP.

As well as music playlists (added in the last update) you can now transfer video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP in Media Go 1.3

Media Go now supports Windows 7 and you get some nifty little features like transfer progress on the Windows task bar.

Image 2

And you get a thumbnail of media go in the task bar that includes handy playback controls

Image 3

We have added a photo reel so that you can view your photo albums easier in the film strip style you can see below.

Image 4

When playing your media in Media Go we have added a quick link on the play back controls for you to go straight to that track/video in your library.

Image 5

You now have the ability to choose the thumbnail that represents your videos from any part of the actual video footage. Simply go to the video properties and then the Artwork tab and choose the frame you want to act as the thumbnail.

Image 6

You can now adjust the text size within Media Go to the setting that suits you best. Simply go to ‘preferences’ and select the text size you want.

You will notice the new ‘Comics’ tab under library now. This is to allow you organize all your digital comics when they launch on the Store in December 2009 (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and please see playstationcomics.com for details of when comics will be hitting other countries).

The final part of this update is that we have added the ability to rotate videos whilst in full screen mode. This is especially handy if, like me, you often film videos on your phone/camera in portrait and then only relalise when you go to view it on your PC!

Chillingo’s Dracula – Undead Awakening Headed To PSP minis!

Hi everyone, my name is Johnny Coghlan and I’m Head of Publishing for Chillingo. I’m posting here on the PlayStation.Blog to exclusively reveal that Chillingo’s blockbuster top-down horror shooter, Dracula – Undead Awakening, will soon be available for PSP minis!

Dracula – Undead Awakening is a top-down shooter. You play a vampire hunter must combat hordes of undead enemies like zombies, ghouls, werewolves, vampire brides and more. Each level and every new attack wave contains more enemies, and they get stronger over time!

Dracula - Undead Awakening

You have some cool possibilities though. Every time you kill an enemy, there’s a chance they will drop a useful item like a weapon or potion. As you progress, your character can access increasingly powerful weaponry including Machine Guns, Flamethrowers, Buzz-Saws and Grenade Launchers. Surviving each intense undead assault also rewards you with invaluable experience, which you can spend to choose new skills and ability perks like Bloodlust, Ninja, Telekinesis and even Death Dice.

Eerie locations include a desolate graveyard and a Gothic era fortress. Diabolical demons and unearthly beasts await your arrival, along with specters and vampires aplenty! There are a variety of modes in the game ensuring loads of replayability. Do you like an endless supply of ammo with a similarly non-stop stream of attackers coming at you? How about a scarier mode where you have one weapon and no pick-ups where it’s you versus increasing numbers of undead enemies with no respite? Or maybe you prefer to role-play and control the development of your vampire hunter’s powerful new skills and abilities. Dracula – Undead Awakening offers all this and much more!

Dracula - Undead Awakening

This PSP minis version of Dracula – Undead Awakening has been designed and optimised for the PSP platform. Control is seamless, as your character moves using the analog stick. On the PSPGo, you can even use the analog stick to aim if you choose, giving 360 degrees of options when aiming. The shop interface also offers an explanation of each ability and weapon improvement. You can access your gameplay achievements via the statistics screen, along with profile high scores for each game mode. The frame rate has been optimized, and you can save the game at any time you choose.

Dracula – Undead Awakening will creep onto PSP minis on November 26, 2009.

Ben Templesmith Talks About Digital Comics

With the Digital Comic service coming to PSP soon and Ben Templesmith, creator of the weirdly wonderful Wormwood, visiting London earlier this month, we decided to put two and two together and come up with a video. Ben very kindly took the time to speak to me outside his hotel in London’s Docklands. It’s a beautiful location that happens to be on the flight path to City Airport, which is why we had to make lots of cuts in the final edit.

Wormwood is not one of the Digital Comics launch titles but it will be arriving soon after. While we’re here, and as Adrianna and Pete (who I interviewed just before gamescom) will no doubt be reading your comments, which comics do you want to see included in the service?
