Hello, remember me? It gives me great pleasure to return to the blog with some news from SEGA HQ.

As you are no doubt aware Yakuza 4, the next instalment in our beloved Yakuza franchise, is just around the corner (March 18th here in the UK) and to help you celebrate we’ve launched a competition to get your creative juices flowing.

The full details can be found on the SEGA blog but the main gist is that we want you to arm yourself with your medium of choice and submit something which shows just how much of a Yakuza fanboy, or fangirl, you are – or in other words, how far would you go to express that. How much ‘like a dragon’ are you?

You could express that in the form of a picture (crayon drawings would personally be most welcome!), a photo of you playing Yakuza somewhere unusual, a video, a piece of creative writing… you could even make a macaroni picture, the only limit is your imagination! Well, okay, you have to make sure it’s not contravening any rules, or laws (please don’t join the actual Yakuza and send proof of your membership)!

The full rules and competition guidelines are on the SEGA blog, but all you really need to know is; the competition is open now, and you have until 12.00pm on Thursday the 17th March to send your entry to LikeADragon@sega.co.uk.

Of course you’re now asking, what are the prizes? Well, let me tell you: we will select our favourite three entries, and each creator will receive the ultimate in Yakuza 4 versions – the limited edition Kuro Edition steelbook along with the Ichiban box (normally only available in Australia) which contains a variety of other goodies such as a Yakuza 4 bowl and chopsticks set. One of these lucky people will also be crowned the grand prize winner and take home a few extras on top of that (no, not tat from the back of our cupboards) with the main item being a very limited Yakuza licensed Japanese zip-up sweatshirt. A prize that every Yakuza fan would be proud to call their own, I would say.

I’m here to announce a very special community event. It’s called: Operation: Dogs of ‘nam!

Over the next three weeks we’re challenging you to get out your dog tag collecting skills in a competition on Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam. Taking part we have EA’s very own EA_ActionMan alongside PlayStation Community chaps MusterBuster & Yaster.

The aim of the game is to collect as many dog tags from the “targets” as you can. The more dog tags you get, the better chance of winning the top prize – a trip to Sweden to meet the developers of the Battlefield franchise, DICE. Everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of Logitech F540 Wireless HeadPhones for PlayStation 3. And of course, if you do manage to get our dog tags (it wont be easy!) we’ll send a set of real dog tags with our name on to love and hold forever.

Good afternoon, Gran Turismo fans.

I am very pleased today to confirm further details of the very special competition that was included exclusively in the Signature Edition version of Gran Turismo 5.

So to have a chance to win your very own gull-winged, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, €180,000, 6.2litre supercar, here’s what you need to know.

The first phase of the Signature Edition competition will be open from 09.00 GMT Monday 27th December 2010 and will be open until 23.59 GMT Monday 31st January 2011.

From the 27th December, there are a few steps that you must follow to enter the competition, these are as follows;

Step 1: Redeem the PSN Voucher Code
Sign-in to your PSN Account, go to PlayStation Store and redeem the competition PSN voucher code found in the leather wallet of the Signature Edition.

Prior to redeeming the voucher code, ensure that your PSN account details are up to date and correct.

If your country of residence has changed since you created your PSN account, then you must update your address information on PSN prior to registration on gran-turismo.com, or alternatively create a new PSN account using the correct country of residence.

Your country of residence must of course be one of those within the eligible markets for the Signature Edition competition.

Step 2: Register on gran-turismo.com
Go to the website www.gran-turismo.com accept the Terms and Conditions, sign-in to your PSN Account and fill in the registration form.

Step 3: The Signature Edition Challenge
Boot up your copy of Gran Turismo 5, sign-in to your PSN Account and get yourself on the Signature Edition Challenge which will be accessible from the Seasonal Events section within the game.

Full terms and conditions will be available on gran-turismo.com from 27 December 2010.

One other thing – it’s also essential to make sure that you have downloaded all of the latest functionality updates to Gran Turismo 5.

During the competition period you will have the chance to test your skills in 5 races across 5 courses within the B-Spec mode of GT5.

All of the eligible markets for the competition have been placed in regional groups. Please refer to the competition terms and conditions at time of entry to establish which region you fall within.

At the end of the competition period entrant(s) with the fastest composite time over the five courses within each regional group will win a place in phase two of the competition at the Mercedes-Benz driving event.

There is no limit to the number of times that you can attempt each of the five races to improve your best time. Leaderboards will be viewable during the duration of the competition on gran-turismo.com.

The special Mercedes-Benz driving event that is phase two of the competition is due to take place in Spring 2011.

Over the course of two days you will be put through your paces in a real-life AMG vehicles and eventually, whoever has the smarts and the skills will emerge with the keys to one of the finest supercars in a generation.

So, after the excesses of the next weekend to come, make sure you keep a note of where that Signature Edition entry card is – it could well be the ticket that makes 2011 a very happy new year!

After the massive success of the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2010, when more than 780,000 players battled it out for the title, the world’s biggest virtual football tournament returns this year, starting with the first online season which began on 1 December.

This year’s event features a new format; in order to make the online qualifying stages more flexible and accessible there will now be six mini seasons lasting 25 days each, beginning on the first of every month from 1 December through to 25 May 2011. The best two players per season will qualify for the Grand Final, which will take place in June 2011.

An additional 10 players will qualify for the Grand Final through the Live Qualifier Events (1 per event), with the full constellation of 24 finalists completed by the current FIWC champion Nenad Stojkovic and the winner of a special promotional event. For more details please visit FIFA.com/FIWC.

Now that you’ve all had just under a week to get to grips with Gran Turismo 5, the Real Driving Simulator on PlayStation 3, I thought I’d post an update on the amazing competition that is open to anyone who buys the GT5 Signature Edition, after reading some of your questions here on the PlayStation.Blog and on our @PlayStationEU twitter account.

As we pointed out last week in our under the bonnet of the Signature Edition video, this luxurious package contains a card that grants the owner a chance to win one of the most exotic supercars in the world today – the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.

I’d like to inform you that the competition will begin in December 2010. The specific date and rules will be announced very soon, but I can reveal that it will be based around GT5‘s B-Spec Mode, so Signature Edition owners may want to start levelling up their drivers in anticipation.
