Can You Cut It As An ISA Recruit?

Countries:

On February 10th ISA Ultimate Recruit training opens – a hands on, interactive bootcamp to help you prepare for the launch of Killzone 3 and really get to know your enemy.

Recruits will take instructions from a ferocious ISA Marine, Instructor McCain.

First up is theory – over the course of training you will hone your intelligence gathering skills in order to locate and track Helghast activity.

Initially you need to locate the enemy by collecting the hidden Helghast symbols. Then you need to complete four training simulations using the internet, your phone and, most importantly, your wits.

The top 500 recruits to make the grade will win a place on the Live Fire Range, where they will have the chance to fire a real Helghast weapon over the internet.

The cream of the crop will be in with the chance to go to E3 in Los Angeles.

Enrol now at ultimaterecruit.killzone.com now and enter your details to be notified when recruitment opens.

ISA Ultimate Recruit – will you make the grade?

Please note: recruits must be 18 or over. The Live Fire and E3 Prize is only open to UK residents.

Killzone 3 Open Beta Coming To The PSN

Whether they loved the original Killzone 2 control scheme or felt that it was too ‘weighty’, most beta participants seem to agree on one thing: the Killzone 3 control scheme gets the balance just right.

In a new developer video, Guerrilla developers Mathijs de Jonge, Jan-Bart van Beek and Arjen Bokhoven talk about the fine-tuning process that helped them come up with a control scheme that would satisfy both fans and critics. They also reveal new details about the other control-related features in Killzone 3:

Please proceed to Killzone.com where you can view the video in full.

The brutal melee system, which allows players to neutralize their opponents in a myriad of up-close-and-gory ways.

The slide-to-cover mechanic, which allows for free-form sliding so players can use it to dodge enemy fire.

The addition of a third weapon slot, reserved specifically for heavy-duty weapons like the Minigun and the W.A.S.P. Launcher.

Enjoy the video, and remember that the making of Killzone 3 is discussed more extensively in the Behind The Scenes featurette that comes with the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition.

Killzone 3: Behind The Scenes

Spanning more than 70 minutes of cut-scene footage, the Killzone 3 single player campaign boasts a breathtaking storyline brought to life by some of Hollywood’s finest talents. In this sneak peek at the Killzone 3: Behind The Scenes featurette, which is part of the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition extras, Guerrilla reveals how real-life actors were transformed into virtual characters.

Using state-of-the-art motion capture techniques, the actors’ performances were captured using reflective tracking markers worn on the face and body. Many of the props and characters they were acting off only existed inside the computer, however.

Actor Ray Winstone (Admiral Orlock), who cut his teeth on full-body performance capture in the 2007 movie adaptation of Beowulf, was undaunted by that prospect. “It’s like going back to school in a way,” he said. “You play the scene, and you start to get your imagination back, you know?”

Co-star Malcolm McDowell (Chairman Stahl), whose video game appearances stretch back to the early nineties, was quite satisfied with the technology. “When I’m 85, I can be doing video games, because they can put a young man’s face over mine,” he joked. “And as long as I don’t do a gravelly voice, I’ll be alright!”

The First Look At Kaznan Jungle In Killzone 3

Today we are giving you a sneak preview of one of our new Killzone 3 Multiplayer levels: MP08 Kaznan Jungle. It is a tight, intricate map especially catered towards one of our new game modes, Guerrilla Warfare.

The Kaznan Jungle harbors the wreckage of a downed ISA Cruiser. Survivors of the failed evacuation of Helghan must fight for their lives against a Helghast enemy bent on their annihilation, but they are not the only predators in the area… The jungle, the plants and insects that call it home are friend to no-one.

You will also get to see the Infiltrator at work in this video. The infiltrator hides in plain sight, using deception to confuse the enemy while going about his tasks. His basic equipment consists of an M13 shotgun and a holo-emitter that allows him to disguise as a member of the opposing team.

Enjoy the footage and let us know what you think in the comments.

Killzone 3. The jet-packs. The Brutal Melee. The PlayStation Move. The 3D!

Ever wanted to get your hands on the action? Killzone 3 may not be out until 23rd of February but we’re giving you a chance to experience into the “Icy Incursion” level that takes place halfway through the campaign.

  • February 16th is the day that Killzone 3′s Single Player demo hits the PlayStation Store.
  • PlayStation Plus members will be able to download the demo on February 9th, so strap on that jet-pack and take flight through the arctic environments of Helghan.

ScreenShot_2009_03_21_1835

There will be two separate downloads available from the PlayStation Store: one in 2D and one in 3D. Both versions will take place on the “Icy Incursion” level. Don’t worry – downloading the 3D version and playing it on your 2D TV won’t break anything… you’ll just see a message saying “No 3D TV detected.” The 2D version has splitscreen co-op as well, a feature not available in the 3D demo.

These demos will be PlayStation Move-enabled, giving gamers a chance to experience Killzone 3 with the most immersive controls. When you get your hands on the demo, be sure to try out one of my favorite new mechanics, the Brutal Melee attacks. Get close to your enemy and hit the melee button (or thrust your PlayStation Move motion controller at the screen).

The aiming and movement mechanics have been tightened since Killzone 2; play around with them and let us know what you think.

Stay tuned to the blog as we give out more details on the upcoming multiplayer Open Beta.

In preparation for the battle, check out the full list of weapons.
