Reports of a mysterious cave opening up down by the water in the Winter Event space are rife this week, along with suspected sightings of what some have claimed to be an abominable snowman. Hunters and other enthusiasts are flocking to the area to see if they can catch a glimpse of the mythical yetis in the hopes of bringing back evidence of their existence. Extreme caution is advised to all those intrepid enough to go in search of the yetis and the government is advising that anyone attempting to face them stock up on precautionary ammo and other supplies at the store located at the site.

Here’s an unsubstantiated picture sent in by a local hunter, allegedly in support of these wild claims.

Inside, away from the colder regions of Home, Cucumber aren’t just about eye-popping colours (although there are still some of those in their latest collection). They also have a strong desire to create useable sets that will help you set the scene in your apartment. With Dolly’s Diner, that scene was of a bustling 1950s diner. Along the shop-lined streets of this space, townspeople and merchants can be seen going about various occupations such as cargo delivery, running food stands, and samurai duties as well.

In the local clothing store, among many other Japanese costumes, you’ll find stylish kimono, samurai outfits, and even swords to complete the look. Change into a samurai outfit or kimono and experience the traditional Japanese culture of the Edo period.

If you’ve been enjoying the range of All Zombies Must Die! companions and masks, you can now pick up the game itself from the GAME V store in the Moonbase.

If you are upgrading from an old version of Home (1.40 or earlier) then when you attempt to apply the 1.60 patch please wait for the orange “hard drive activity” light to stop flashing on your PS3 before commencing the patching process.

Furniture placement limit

• We have doubled the furniture placement limit in Personal Spaces and Clubhouses from 50 to 100 items.
• This has been a regularly requested change and we’re eager to see what new layouts you come up with!
• Standard and active furniture limits have been merged into the same system. Currently all actives take up 22 furniture slots in the new system. Thus you can now place a variety of different combinations:
• 100 standard furniture items or…
• 78 standard furniture items and 1 active or…
• 56 standard furniture items and 2 actives or…
• 34 standard furniture items and 3 actives or…
• 12 standard furniture items and 4 actives.

Improvements

Targeting in Personal Spaces

• Targeting in Personal Spaces has been improved.
• This means you shouldn’t accidentally target furniture items through floors or ceilings any more.
• Although we have made exceptions for wall hangings and lights as these tend to be placed quite high up.
• If you find any items of furniture in places you can’t reach then you can always remove them through the furniture browser and place them somewhere else.

Portables

• We have changed the way that companion portables work so they will automatically re-activate after you enter and leave a mini-game or relocate between spaces. No more having to put your companion away and take them out again when you do this!

Help system

• There is a more proactive help system to aid new users outside of their Harbour Studio Personal Space as they explore PlayStation®Home for the first time.

Arcade games

• Arcade games are no longer subject to the 3 minute inactivity timeout when placed as furniture in Personal Spaces or Clubhouses.

We have removed the “Community” section of the Menu Pad. The information that used to be contained in here is now communicated via the message of the day pop-up at login and the new loading screens.

Of course, there are plenty more bug fixes and enhancements that are part of v1.60 as well which will help improve your day-to-day experience in the wide world of PlayStation Home.

Content Update

So, on to this week’s new content. Put on your Winter warmers – it’s PS Home’s 3rd anniversary and it’s snowing outside! Gnome Curling makes an appearance in Home Square which has been blanketed in a crisp white layer of lovely snow! Fear not, fans of the mind-boggling Cogs game – you can now find this puzzler taking up residence in the Indie Park.

Novus Prime is also celebrating its 1st anniversary so for a limited time Nebulon and Experience boosters will be absolutely FREE and many of the items in the Novus Prime stores will be on sale for 50% off! This celebration will be over before you know it, so report to the Novus Prime station on the double and join the fight!

Hide in plain sight with Konami’s new Urban Camo line. Grab your friends and change the look of your environment or sneak up on unsuspecting people!

Granny Lockwood’s been hard at work again, and this time she’s taken her inspiration from the chilly extremes of the planet, the North and South Poles! Pumpkin Pie the Polar Bear and Popsicle the Penguin can’t wait to play with you. They both love to do tricks – be patient and they’re sure to show you what they can do. Also, their cousins are exclusively available via the Gift Machine – look out for them – they’re only available for a limited time!

He’s a cheerful, energetic little fellow and would love for you to join him in his sporting endeavours. The Novus Prime Safety Commission has approved the release of the Power Mech Suits! These walking battle tanks feature advanced motor control and balancing systems, allowing access to several custom animation routines. Flight stabilizers kick in on-demand, for when walking just isn’t enough. This release also includes a large number of mechs that had been confiscated in a raid on a Space Pirate outpost. These Rogue Mech Suits utilize the same trustworthy technology as the Power Mech, but they may feature different animations. You can rest assured that they have gone through the same rigorous quality and safety testing to meet Earth Fleet standards.

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is being unleashed upon the unsuspecting world this week, and we thought we’d share a little of the vampyrical love with you. Seek out the special inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood store in Home Square and peruse its wares to receive a free pair of glowing red vampire eyes – available only this week. Dig a little deeper and buy the game and you will be granted dominion over your very own horde of fiendish flapping nightmares, yours to wear with whatever takes your fancy! Beware people… This is bat country.

Also in Home Square this week, to celebrate the momentous release of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One for your PS3, we have created a psychodeconstructotron! This cunning device will analyse your responses to certain stimuli and match your personality to one of the four heroes in the game; the intrepid Ratchet, the logical Clank, the blathering Captain Qwark or the nefarious… Dr. Nefarious. You will be rewarded for your participation with a commemorative head-piece and t-shirt, tailored to suit your personality type. For those with multiple personalities, you can retake the test and collect them all!

You may be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you’ll dance with the reaper! nDreams have had the street sweepers covered ever since they launched the Li’l Reaper Companion many moons ago. Now they are catering for the kings as well, with the release of the Li’l Bling Reaper; this pint-sized auric apparition is ideal for those who feel they deserve to be stalked by a better class of Death and is available this week from the nDreams boutique.

This week PlayStation Home gears up for the release of Uncharted 3 with a brand new space and game – Fortune Hunter! Set in the sun-baked streets of Yemen, Fortune Hunter challenges you to step into the shoes of Nathan Drake and explore your war-torn surroundings while collecting hidden treasures. You must survive wave after wave of incoming attacks from enemies who are out to stop you from grabbing the loot. Ruthless gunmen, toppling crates and collapsing walls are all dangers to watch out for, so do Nathan Drake proud and keep your eyes peeled at all times.

To help you on your quest are loads of hidden weapons – there’s a pistol, a machine gun and even grenades to get your hands on if you’re wily enough to spot them. Use your ammo to take down enemies and complete objectives, hunt out all of the treasure and battle fierce bosses.

Recently you may have noticed some purchasing issues occurring in Home, most notably users have not been receiving some of the paid for items from nDreams that have been released over the past couple of weeks. We’d like to inform users that these were SCE issues and have now been fully resolved, so everyone that has bought some of the affected content should now have received it. We’d also like to thank the community for bringing this issue to our attention and would like to encourage you to continue to do so in future.

We are also investigating the other content related issues that have been occurring recently and will keep the community posted on our progress.

Ever heard the line “Did you hurt yourself when you fell from Heaven?”, if so I hope you were suitably appalled. But this week, Angels really are falling from Heaven, slap bang into the middle of Home Square and it’s your job to save them from harm with strategically placed cushions. If you manage to save these celestial beauties you will be richly rewarded, so head on over to Home Square and break those falls!

Aurora 1.2 comes out this Thursday. Grab your rod and head over to the fabulous Sky Fishing game. Forty different mysterious creatures and objects are waiting to be caught (along with a few rewards), but will you manage to catch the fabled colossus? Also, don’t forget to visit the Teller of Tales, where you can learn more about the rich history of Aurora.

The ultra-modern Tycoon Penthouse sits atop a towering skyscraper, overlooking a world-class city teeming with action. Releasing alongside a suite of sleek and chic furnishings and amenities including a bubbling hot tub, the Tycoon Penthouse is the perfect addition to your collection of rare and exotic properties around the world. Those of you who enjoy the finer things in life can pick up this premium property this Thursday from the Estates store.

A new selection of clothing hits the PS Home Shopping Centre this week – men of action should head over to the Alter Ego where they can find Desert Marauder, Smoke Jumper, and Combat Armour clothing, as well as a new variation on the Anime Battle Suit. For the ladies there is the Sci-Fi costume which takes the phrase “space assassin vixen from a dystopian future” to a whole new level. There are also some elegant new off-the-shoulder tops with matching gloves and animated angel and butterfly wings.

Music lovers can deck out their apartment with a range of instruments including a drum kit, grand piano, wall-mounted guitars and DJ turn tables. There are also new furniture items ranging from drinks bars to tables and sofas, and even a friendly koala to perch happily in your favourite apartment.

This week also sees Binx (our lovable London Pub Labrador) get 2 new siblings. Visit the V-Store today and you can take them home. Also in the V-store this week you can start taking care of all that
dirty virtual laundry with an extended range of washing machines for your personal space. Are you hungry? Fancy some pizza or kung pao chicken? Well head down to the V-Store and try their delicious new ranges of takeaway food.

Calling all SodiumOne fans! This week Lockwood unveils an exciting update – the Salt Shooter Public Game Space. This new version of tank action classic comes with a selection of exclusive rewards, a new interactive gallery of enemy units and connections to Sodium2!

Head into the Salt Shooter Public Game space today to meet friends and collect new rewards! Plus, between Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October the Salt Shooter Public Game Space will give out double resources from SodiumOne! Convert these to Sodium credits to buy items from the Sodium Hub or upgrades in Sodium2!

The leaves are turning red, the air is getting chill, and Halloween approaches. To make sure you can all celebrate Samhain in style, the Cauldron of the Sunless Kingdom makes a return to the Lockwood store, along with some regal accessories to help unlock all the Cauldron’s spoils.

This week’s PlayStation Home bumper update kicks off with the 1.55 client update, with some improvements to the Home start up flow, wardrobe and furniture browsing, and much more. Full details of the client update can be found here.

Two weeks ago, we asked the PlayStation Home community to post on the official PlayStation Forums, screenshots of their favourite places, activities or games in Home. Users did not miss the opportunity to try on their favourite outfits and work out their best angles and poses. Some even invited friends to a very special photo shoot. Ladies, get ready to go adventuring in deep space with this week’s addition to the Novus Prime store! The Nebulon-Interweave Power Suit is the latest in high-tech functional fashions that all the female pilots of the Novus Prime fleet wear under their armoured gear. While this suit is usually hidden behind layers of power armour, you can finally show off these sweet threads. The included tiny Nebulon reactor creates channels of cascading energy to provide all the power any pilot needs to jump into combat with your Mech-Suit or fighter ship.
