PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 52

Countries:

Hello internet,

It’s that time of the month again when a new issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK hits the shelves. So I’m taking a welcome break from grinding through a particularly nasty level-wall in Fallout New Vegas to let you know what we’ve got for you.

PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 52

First up is an exclusive look at Homefront. We’ve been to see the developer and had a play on what’s shaping up to be a very confrontational shooter. This Korea-invades-USA FPS is playing the ‘horrors of war’ card hard by looking at the Geneva Convention and making sure it breaks most of the rules. It’s full of shocking images and nasty stuff that marks it out from Genero War IV (which, you know, was good but not a patch on III)

More cheery news is that we’ve had one of our top driving experts playing Gran Turismo 5. So if you have any questions you want answered about the final arrival of Sony’s flagship driving sim then this should do it.

We’ve also been playing inFamous 2. We spent a day getting heroic in New Marais, saving people and electrocuting monsters. Christ, it’s good. As well as getting hands on we’ve spoken to director Nate Fox, lead designer Darren Bridges and communications director Ken Schramm. You won’t find more info on the superhero-sequel anywhere else.

And, to make sure you have the best blu-ray collection possible, we’ve rounded up The Movies That Shaped Modern Gaming. 25 films that influenced what you play today. From Enter The Dragon to Starship Troopers. These are the flicks that have influenced PlayStation more than any other.

And, throughout the mag, there’s plenty of stuff to keep you interested. Like our test of the latest 3D TVs – three writers take a different model home and live the three dimensional dream. Plus there’s a competition that gives you the chance to win a 3D TV, a PS3 and a Move starter pack. Admit it: you want that. Then there are previews of games like Test Drive Unlimited 2 and Operation Flashpoint Red River, your thoughts on the Killzone 3 beta and reviews including Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and Rock Band 3.

That’s all on sale now for £5.99 with a playable demo disk. Or you can save up 50% if you subscribe.

And if you want to tell us anything, call us names or say want you want in the mag, then drop us a line on Twitter @OPM_UK, email OPM@Futurenet.com or get involved with our Facebook group.

PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 51

Hello all,

This week I’ve been playing an inordinate amount of Borderlands and Fallout New Vegas. The main things I’ve learned are that I’ll pretty much do anything for XP, and I like guns that set people on fire. Probably shouldn’t admit that last one out loud.

Anyway, on to the mag!

PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 51

We’ve got loads of good stuff this month. Like interviews with Quantic Dream’s David Cage (talking about what’s next after Heavy Rain) and Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades (talking about the new look Dante in Devil May Cry). However, our mega interview is a double whammy of Suda51 and Shinji Mikami. The legendary developers talk about their new game, Shadow of the Damned, as well as each other’s bad habits and whether they’ll ever start a band.

Preview-wise we’ve got new info on the sexy/weird Catherine from Persona dev Atlus, Resistance 3, Alice: Madness Returns, the Ico and Shadow Of Colossus HD remakes, and The Last Guardian. Although the big news is our final word on Call Of Duty: Black Ops. I wandered off to visit Treyarch in LA to see the latest on the game, including playing it 3D, which was all sorts of wow. Plus I grilled half the team to strip-mine them for info.

Hello everyone,

As you read this, the fiftieth issue of OPM is sitting on the shelves, waiting for you to take it home and open its shiny, gold birthday wallet. Open it up and you’ll discover Kaká’s triumphant face on the cover, welcoming you to a world of top PlayStation news, previews, reviews and features.

And why’s Kaká so happy? Maybe because FIFA 11 gets reviewed. Word from editor Ben Wilson is that it’s “possibly the best football game ever made”. Strong words, especially as we also have a PES 2011 review to challenge it. Among other games getting scored are the astonishingly good Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow, the excellent Enslaved: Journey To The West and the slapstick gore of Dead Rising 2.

Because it’s our fiftieth issue we’ve also got a huge feature on the 50 greatest PlayStation games ever, as voted for by you. It’s the definitive list of gaming excellence and you’ll never guess what’s number one. Go on, try… Plus, industry greats like Insomniac’s Ted Price, Irrational Studio’s Ken Levine and Hideo Kojima drop by to say happy birthday and steal our cake.

Then there’s our exhaustive feature on Call Of Duty: Black Ops‘ multiplayer. Staff writer Joel Gregory went to visit Treyarch; to play through the new maps and game types, including the new Wager Mode. Honour the fallen: he got pwned so you don’t have to.

Call of Duty

And, finally, we also have things like previews of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, inFamous 2 and Fallout: New Vegas, plus an interview with Tameem Antoniades, creative head of Ninja Theory – the studio behind Enslaved and the new Devil May Cry. And plenty more.

That’s all on sale now for £5.99 with a playable demo disk. Or you can save up 50% if you subscribe.
