adhocparty Now Available

Hi everyone! adhocParty is available to download for free from the PlayStation Store on PS3 today!

adhocParty is an online service that allows PSP owners with a PS3 system to connect to one another via the PlayStation Network. So, how does adhocParty work? PSP titles with adhoc mode traditionally require you to play within close proximity to each other. adhocParty changes that.  adhocParty enables you to play games featuring Ad Hoc mode, such as Gran Turismo and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, over the Internet through the PS3. This means that you can make the most of the Ad Hoc Mode functions in some of your favourite games even when none of your friends or fellow players are close by!

adhocParty

Your PSP connects to the PS3 via Wi-Fi, allowing you to chat online with fellow gamers in the SCEE region before jumping into competition from the comforts of each of your respective living rooms. In addition to all of its competitive and social gaming features, adhocParty for PSP supports voice chat through the Wireless Headset or PlayStation Eye, offering you a complete and immersive gaming experience only available on the PlayStation platform. To use adhocParty you need to simply connect your PSP to a PlayStation3 system via a wireless network connection, then access adhocParty to find other players who want to play the same game as you. Just to note that to use adhocParty, your PlayStation3 system must be connected to the internet via a wired broadband connection.

Check out the video below for more details:

Compatible games are currently include Gran Turismo, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Dissidia Final Fantasy.

In Gran Turismo Ad Hoc Mode allows you to race in head-to-head events for up to four players, and with adhocParty you can challenge anyone across the region!

Join the adhoc Party!

Thanks!

Media Go 1.3 update

Lets get straight to the point – Media Go, the free software that lets you manage your PSP game, music, video and photos on your PC has been updated with some handy new features in version 1.3…

… and here they are …

Download status is now displayed, letting you know how long until you can start playing that new game.

Image 1

You can also now pause your downloads allowing you to control which items in the list download first, so if you have just brought a great new game for your PSP you can pause everything else, get the game and start to get through the levels while the rest of your content downloads.

System update notice – when you plug your PSP into your PC it will automatically suggest you update to the latest PSP system software if you haven’t already. Handy, if you’re like me and constantly forget to update.

Bonus Digital Copy – Media Go 1.3 now detects if there is extra bonus copy for your PSP on a DVD or Blu-ray disc. This feature will start to be used by the studios in the future to give you extra features from films and games specifically for your PSP.

As well as music playlists (added in the last update) you can now transfer video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP in Media Go 1.3

Media Go now supports Windows 7 and you get some nifty little features like transfer progress on the Windows task bar.

And you get a thumbnail of media go in the task bar that includes handy playback controls

We have added a photo reel so that you can view your photo albums easier in the film strip style you can see below.

Image 4

When playing your media in Media Go we have added a quick link on the play back controls for you to go straight to that track/video in your library.

Image 5

You now have the ability to choose the thumbnail that represents your videos from any part of the actual video footage. Simply go to the video properties and then the Artwork tab and choose the frame you want to act as the thumbnail.

Image 6

You can now adjust the text size within Media Go to the setting that suits you best. Simply go to ‘preferences’ and select the text size you want.

You will notice the new ‘Comics’ tab under library now. This is to allow you organize all your digital comics when they launch on the Store in December 2009 (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and please see playstationcomics.com for details of when comics will be hitting other countries).

The final part of this update is that we have added the ability to rotate videos whilst in full screen mode. This is especially handy if, like me, you often film videos on your phone/camera in portrait and then only relalise when you go to view it on your PC!

adhocParty For PlayStation Portable Coming To SCEE

EnglishSelect a Language:

Hello everybody,

I am very happy to announce that adhoc Party will soon be launching in Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Lots of PSP games feature Ad Hoc Mode, which allows two or more players – each with a copy of the same title – to play together or share content via a wireless connection between their PSP systems. Before the introduction of adhocParty, players had to be in the same place, with their PSP™ systems no more than 10 metres apart, to enjoy Ad Hoc Mode. adhocParty changes that. Now you can connect your PSP to another PSP system in another location using your PS3 as a server to bridge the geographical divide. This means that you can make the most of the Ad Hoc Mode functions in some of your favourite games even when none of your friends or fellow players are close by!

adhoc Party Logo

adhocParty on PS3 also acts like a communication platform where players create “houses” where they can chat (via voice and text) in order to align themselves for the game play on their PSP. When entering the application 10 worlds are displayed. Every world is made up of 64 lobbies which the player can enter in form of an avatar. Up to 32 avatars can be within each lobby where houses are displayed. Each house represents a group of players who communicate around their specific game mission. Gamers can create their own house where they act as hosts and decide on the topic and the avatars entering the house.

Compatible games include Gran Turismo, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Dissidia Final Fantasy and Resistance: Retribution. The full list of compatible games will be announced nearer release.

To use adhoc Party you need to simply connect your PSP to a PlayStation3 system via a wireless network connection, then access adhocParty to find other players who want to play the same game as you. Just to note that to use adhocParty, your PlayStation3 system must be connected to the internet via a wired broadband connection.

adhocParty will be available from the PlayStation Store to download to the PS3 for free. So join the adhoc Party!

Thanks!
Adam
