Every Assassin’s Creed game is based in an actual historical setting, with a sense of place and time that provides the backdrop to amazing adventure fraught with peril and political intrigue. The setting for Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is no different and, contrary to popular belief, pirates didn’t just suddenly decide to become a scourge of the seas out of a clear blue sky.

The emergence of piracy was the result of decades of violent and brutal privateering that was not only sanctioned, but also bankrolled by warring naval powers of a size and scope never known before. But all of this will have already happened in AC4, and so we thought it would be a good idea to bring you up to speed.

Hello everyone.

A little over 15 years ago a small Japanese studio headed up by Kazunori Yamauchi embarked upon on a journey that was set to enrich the lives of many millions of gamers. The journey that the team undertook set new benchmarks in graphics, game physics and sheer entertainment.

That studio eventually became known as Polyphony Digital and the brand they created was of course Gran Turismo.

15 years on from that seminal moment, and after who knows how many billions of miles driven collectively by Gran Turismo gamers all over the world, I am very pleased to announce a special Gran Turismo 15th Anniversary Event due to take place on 15th May at Silverstone Race Circuit, England.

Hello, PlayStation.Blog compadres! I’m one of the co-founders of Dynamighty, a small independent studio situated in lovely San Francisco. We’re a squad of ten, founded by a core team with prior experience at LucasArts and Pixar.

When Sony asked us to write a quick post to tell you a bit about our game, we met the request with excitement (“YES! We get to start talking about our game!”) and terror (“CRIPES! Now we’ve got to deliver…”) – a range of emotions that’s par for the course for devs during a production timeline.

Truthfully, we ARE super-excited to finally be able to start talking about our labour of love, our very first game: CounterSpy (working title), a side-scrolling action game being developed for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and mobile platforms.
