It’s a big week for gaming. The release of a new mainline Resident Evil game is one of those events where gamers the world over prepare to bunk off school/work (PS Blog can condone neither action!) and devote their every waking hour to the noble pursuit of mindless zombie slaughter.
The sequel to 2009′s Africa-set Resident Evil 5 is an absolute beast of a game, offering one of the largest single player campaigns in recent memory. Ahead of its global release today we caught up with executive producer Kobayashi-san, director Sasaki-san and producer Hirabayashi-san in Tokyo, to find out how Capcom went about creating such a mammoth title.
‘The RE6 forces emblems’ – High quality enamelled zinc alloy emblems of the three main protagonists squad insignias, mounted and set in a limited numbered frame authenticated with signatures from Senior producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi , Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and RE6 Director Eiichiro Sasaki. A must have piece for any fan of Resident Evil.
All of these amazing goodies are bundled together in the lenticular ‘Needle Bomb’ collectors box (as seen in the RE6 announce trailer).
At E3 2012, Capcom offered a glimpse of the three different scenarios we’ll be playing in Resident Evil 6. Players could enjoy a co-op between Leon Kennedy and newcomer Helena Harper in classic survival-horror style in a Tall Oaks full of zombies, face a boss battle with Jake Muller (son of longtime series baddie Albert Wesker) and Sherry Birkin (aka the little girl from RE2), or battle across the rooftops of China with Chris Redfield and his partner Piers Nivans. But the company also revealed a new feature behind closed doors: the Crossover system, an evolution of the dual-threaded Scenario mechanic from Resident Evil 2, this time not only intersecting the story of different characters but also bringing their gameplay together in four-player co-op situations. (more…)
YES, WE HAVE ANNOUNCED IT! You know what I’m talking about; you’ve been looking for clues, any possible clues and hints. Well now it’s here, Resident Evil 6 is here. We’ll be releasing RE6 for the PlayStation 3 in November 2012. Duck, run, hide, roll, jump and shoot, all of the action and survival horror verbs you would want to hear that feature heavily in RE. Expect it to be the most ambitious and feature heavy Resident Evil, EVER.
What’s the story? Who’s in it? Ten years has gone by since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided blab the truth about what really happened – recipe for disaster – in the belief that it’ll stop more zombie outbreaks from the evil Umbrella. Leon, the president’s wingman has to make a horrific decision when faced with anybodies worst nightmare; an infected President. The other side of the world, Chris Redfield, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance Member arrives in China to battle the infection there. No country is safe, there is no hope left.
Chris Redfield AND Leon S. Kennedy? Surely they can save the day? You’ll have to wait and see…
This is survival horror and action combined on a global scale. I can see you’re itching to blow some zombie brains all over the world already. Stay tuned zombie lovers.
