The arrival of the Chimeran forces and the destruction and carnage they inflicted upon America has been a well-documented event. Among those caught up in the chaos was one Mr. Henry Stillman; an American radio announcer from Radio USA, Philadelphia. He documented the rise, movement and eventual world domination of the Chimera.

Following the global cover-up stories, the loss and the fear within the human populace, Henry Stillman managed to build an account of the events and collect them together within his own Graphic Novella. Unfortunately, over time and wear, the integrity of the document has since diminished and become illegible. We have, however been able to collect all the pieces together and can now bring you the truth as to what happened those many years ago.

Now you too can uncover the truth about the meteorite strike, Tom Riley, the Chimera and more! All you need to do is download the codex here, find all the codes and place them within the Novella here. It will definitely be worth your while.

The wait is finally over! Resistance: Burning Skies hits European shelves and the PSN Store today, ushering in a new era of portable first-person shooters by introducing dual-analog control for the first time. Dual-analog control isn’t the only thing going for it though… In addition to all the great features we’ve introduced over the last few months, Resistance: Burning Skies brings a new hero into the world of man vs. Chimera – and Tom Riley’s story is one you won’t want to miss. Now, to help pump you up to go out and fight some Chimera, take a peek at the debut of our Resistance: Burning Skies launch trailer!

This isn’t all we have to share with you today though. You’ll remember back in April when we talked about Resistance: Burning Skies’ multiplayer modes we mentioned that through “NEAR”, Resistance: Burning Skies introduces a new social perk which rewards players with XP multipliers that you can carry into multiplayer battle. Well today we’re going to shed a little more light on exactly what that means.

So, as you play through the multiplayer experience on Resistance: Burning Skies, there’s a chance that you will become infected with a form of the Chimera virus. Although being infected with the Chimera virus didn’t end too well for Nathan Hale, these particular strains of the Chimera virus actually give you a bonus of an in game XP multiplier. That means that you can have double and in some cases up to triple XP for a limited amount of time to gain levels and to unlock upgrades more quickly – and we all love a little help leveling up.

The really interesting part is that when infected, through NEAR you can spread the virus to your friends or drop it off as a gift to a fellow PS Vita player. Conversely you can also pick up the virus that’s been left behind by another Resistance player via NEAR.

So if you’re a shooter fan and enjoy portable gaming, this is THE game to own this summer and remember, if you purchase the game from the PS Store between the 30th May and 4th June you’ll also get some sweet bonus items.

The wait is nearly over, Resistance: Burning Skies hits European shelves and the PSN Store on Wednesday 30th May (31st for Australia & New Zealand and 1st June for UK & Ireland). So there’s still time to avail of the pre-order bonuses.

If you remember back in April, we mentioned that there would be some pre-order bonuses in selected retailers with Resistance: Burning Skies. Well, as expected, the majority of the comments were about which selected retailers are doing the promotion. As you probably know, each offer is managed by your local PlayStation teams, so it’s difficult to say for sure which retail partners are taking part.

Well, I’ve done some digging around the local territory markets and I’ve found the following offers.

As the Chimeran virus prepares to unleash its formidable force on PlayStation Vita users later this month, Frank Simon, Senior Managing Producer at Sony Computer America – recently paid Australia a visit to talk all things Resistance: Burning Skies. He took time out of his busy schedule to speak exclusively to us on camera about an exciting new social feature using the PlayStation Vita’s social and location based service, ‘near’.

“With new hardware comes an exciting new scope of uncompromised gameplay capabilities for the first FPS on PlayStation Vita” said Frank. “Taking further advantage of the unique social connectivity of PlayStation Vita, while playing Resistance: Burning Skies in the dynamic new multiplayer mode, ‘near’ will enable players to become infected with the Chimeran virus for multiplayer bonuses – and ‘gift’ these to other PS Vita users”.

Resistance Burning Skies launches across Europe on May 30th and UK June 1st.

Shooter fans everywhere are starting to get excited, since we’re now less than a month away from the May 30th release of Resistance: Burning Skies. Two weeks ago, we introduced the world to Burning Skies’ competitive multiplayer experience, and so far, we’ve been thrilled with how much fans and media have enjoyed playing it! I know many of you are chomping at the bit to get out there and start taking the war against the Chimera online, so you’ll be happy to hear that last week, Resistance: Burning Skies went gold. To celebrate, we’d like to show you our new Features Trailer!
