God of War: Ascension rises today, final multiplayer allegiance revealed

Countries: , , , ,

PlayStation friends, God of War: Ascension is out across the PAL region today and in Europe from tomorrow!

It represents the culmination of two and a half years of blood, sweat, and tears on behalf of the God of War team at Santa Monica Studio.

We wanted to create the best looking, most playable and compelling entry in the series to date, a game that took every aspect of the experience to a new level, that sought to show long-time fans a different side of the iconic Kratos character, and that added something entirely new yet addictively deep to the franchise: multiplayer, which many of you joined us in playing and improving during our beta weeks ago.

The Magic Is In Your Hands In Sorcery – Launch Trailer Released!

Countries: , , , ,

Well, it’s been a long time coming but it’s almost here: Sorcery!

The PlayStation Move is a Magic Wand at last!

Sorcery is the first of its kind – a full-fledged action adventure created natively for PS Move. All of us at The Workshop feel tremendously privileged that we could bring this game to life.

Many of you have been following us since our first announcement back at E3 2010 and we have worked tirelessly since then to meet the expectations that arose from our on-stage presentation. It was a massive effort, and I cannot say enough about of the men and women who gave themselves so completely to the task. Add to that Sony’s profound commitment and willingness to believe in the vision, even when the road ahead was uncertain, which was a huge help.

We all believe the result is truly something special – a timeless adventure and a genuinely new and immersive gaming experience. A real game that serious gamers can sink their teeth into, yet one that casual players can thoroughly enjoy as well, and a welcome addition to any PS Move owner’s library. If you don’t own a PS Move yet, Sorcery is a great reason to give one a try.

So, ahead of the game’s launch starting from tomorrow, across the PAL region, here’s a look at our Sorcery launch trailer.

The Making Of Sorcery: Creatures

Countries: , , , ,

This is the final installment in our four-part series detailing the making of Sorcery. In this video we discuss what went into the invention of this vast, magical universe to which players are transported in the game. There were quite a few creative decisions that had to be made, so we give you a bit of insight into the process of how we came up with the look and feel of the different environments/realms and the dangerous creatures that inhabit them. You’ll hear from the development team on how we went about making a fantasy world feel fresh (and strange), details on the backstory behind places like the Endless Stair and the Faerie Forest, and some anecdotes on why the prettiest character in Sorcery is also one of the most dangerous!

The Making Of Sorcery: Sound

In this post we turn our attention to the music and sound design for Sorcery. Members of the development team talk about how Sorcery’s score fuses traditional Celtic music with more contemporary instrumentation, and about how the sound effects are used to boost the feeling of immersion you get by casting spells with the Move controller.
