It’s SingStore update week again. Are you excited? Well, I am a little bit because of the fabulous 80s Part 4 song pack. Yep, it’s got all of my faves in there but I am especially fond of Toto’s ‘Africa’ and of course, who could resist the lovely Jennifer Rush with ‘The Power Of Love’? One for Valentine’s Day, I reckon!

Otherwise, there’s more Kylie, Nightwish and ANOTHER one I won’t be able to stay away from: REO Speedwagon’s ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’! Mixed bag this week with lots of great 80s stuff thrown in. I’m happy.

Some more Steps (yay!) with ‘It’s The Way You Make Me Feel’, ‘Photograph’ by Def Leppard for you rockers out there and a bit of Katy B for good measure.

Also released this week are the individual tracks from the Hi-NRG song pack including songs by Sinitta, Samantha Fox, Divine, Evelyn Thomas and Hazell Dean.

Good weekend? It was ‘scorchio’ in London on Saturday so hope you all had a nice last Indian Summers Day wherever you were. Enough about the weather!

Not a big update this week but there are some quality tracks in there in my opinion. There’s Kelly Clarkson, Blondie and Dusty, keeping it all girlie, plus the boys also get a look in in the shape of The Offspring, REO Speedwagon and Tinchy Stryder & Dappy. Enjoy.

Hello, SingStar friends,

Did you miss me? Was Chris nice to you while I was off? If not I will have words, you know! Hope you enjoyed the last update with songs from the likes of Rihanna, Katy B, Toto et al.

Gamescom was awesome. The SingStar stand at was mega busy (some pics below of people getting a first glimpse of the ‘Back to the 80s’ disc) and so were all sixteen pods we were showing our brand new DanceStar Party game off on. Queues everywhere!!!

Did any of you manage to come down and play? Can you see yourself on any of the pics? More news on all of the above very soon…

On to the SingStore:

Ok, maybe that’s just me but you know sometimes you read about and artist/song and think, ‘I have NO idea who/what this is’, then you listen to it and go, ‘I know this, I know this, I love it!’ Yep, happened to me with Neon Trees and ‘Animal’ today.

However, I had no problems recognising any of the others and I am especially fond of ‘Jessie’s Girl’ and its singer, Mr. Rick Springfield. I always thought he had a luscious head of hair.

Then there’s OK Go with ‘Here We Go Again’ which of course stands out because of the band’s creative use of running machines in the video alone. Note: you will only need microphones to play this and not invest in any further equipment. Up to you, of course.

I also need to mention Kid Cudi ‘Day ‘N’ Nite’ which comes with a dance add-on for good measure and if I may say so, I think could beat every single one of you in a dance-off having demoed it a LOT Excellent dance routine.

I’ve got a good week though (in my opinion) and some amazing songs. First and foremost is the all-conquering Rihanna with her smash Rude Boy. This is a huge tune for those Summer SingStar parties and has a great video, bringing a carnival vibe to SingStar.

One of the sounds of the festivals this year is definitely Katy B (from the stable one of my favourite radio stations – Rinse FM) and we’re bringing a second Katy B track to SingStar, Louder is from her debut album Katy on a Mission.

Diving back in time a little, and to Sparks. If you like a singing challenge (and we know some of you do) then this is the song for you this week. This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us is fast, falsetto, utterly bonkers, genre-defying pop. If anyone can even come close to 10000 points on this I will be very impressed. Can’t wait to see the tribute videos for this on SingStar.com.

Howdy!

I’m so excited because I am the one who gets to tell you that we have a brand new SingStar Blu-ray Disc in the works which will be ready for your collective singing pleasure in time for Christmas. ‘Back To The 80s’ will feature 30 massive hits from the decade which was otherwise defined by neon legwarmers, oversized shoulder pads and bad hair. We’ll be posting a full tracklist for you once we have it available so watch this space. I know I can’t wait to get my hands on it (the tracklist AND the disc that is).

If you haven’t been to visit the SingStore or My SingStar Online since Tuesday last week you should get your virtual selves there asap because the 5.12 patch is waiting for you. Once you’re done with the update you will be able to share your in game snapshots with the world via Facebook, view all the songs in the SingStore by release date, plus we added a few new filters to the song selection carousel.

Now on to the SingStore update. I’m loving ‘Kyrie’ by Mr. Mister this week, P!nk and (obviously!) ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ for which I shall also be getting the dance add-on so I can make sure I get the fullest Ricky Martin experience possible! Oh yes! Let’s also not forget about Toto with ‘Rosanna’ or Take That or the Rock Steady Crew, ok?

Franz Ferdinand – No You Girls – not released in SCEA territories.

I was very happy that most of you seemed to like the last update and hope that this one will get the same reaction! Fingers crossed…

So, what do I have for you this week? Well, there’s another brand new Boney M song, in case you’re already bored of ‘Daddy Cool’, plus the one I am very excited about because it involves a Gallagher brother and most of Oasis just minus the other brother: Beady Eye with their excellent first single ‘The Roller’. ‘Ave it!

A little more ‘fun’ and a favourite because of its cringe factor has got to be ‘Jump In My Car’ by The Hoff, right? Ok, if that’s not your cup of tea then I can also offer you Jarvis and his popular beat combo Pulp with ‘Disco 2000′ or a lovely ballad by the boys from that little know band Take That?

If you’re STILL indecisive, just grab your Move controller and get stuck in with the dance add-ons for Chris Brown, OutKast or New Kids On The Block. Or if you know how to sing in Danish or in German, there’s always Sukkerchok (great name!) and Roland Kaiser respectively.

Wow, it’s been a while. It’s good to be back and I hope you were all keeping up-to-date with what was happening with the PSN outage on Twitter @SingStarHQ and @PlaystationEU and not been thinking that I don’t want to talk to you anymore because I definitely do ☺.

Talking of Twitter, we’ve just passed the 1,000 follower mark on Friday so a huge thanks to all of you who support SingStar on there. Make sure you keep on tweetin’ because as always, we just love to see what you get up to every day and night, and especially what you’re singing at the moment.

On to the update which I guess you’re all here for, right? We’ve got a few more songs for you than in recent updates because of the large gap since the April one and I certainly hope you can all find something to download on Wednesday.

As usual you can find the full tracklisting below but I recommend you dust off your mics for the following: Spinal Tap, The Alarm, Queens Of the Stone Age (to prepare for Glastonbury!), Propellerheads feat. Shirley Bassey and The Animals. And, just because I can, I will pretend that we haven’t missed Eurovision back in May and belt out Lena’s ‘Sattelite’ all weekend.

Quite a few foreign languages tracks, too in Danish, Finnish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. Nyd! Nauti! Viel Spass! Buon divertmento! Divirta! Disfruta! (apologies in advance if any of these should turn out to be weird/wrong/rude).

There’s also a nice little Motor City Soul Essentials song pack for those of you want to get into swing of things with one easy download plus four fine dance add-ons to shake your hips to.

So, what have I got for you to keep you occupied over the upcoming Easter and Royal Wedding bank holiday bonanza?

Let’s start with the bundles of musical joy we call song packs of which we have no less than three in this update. For those of you who didn’t think Oklahoma! was the best the world of musical theatre had to offer (you know who you are), feast your vocal chords on this: Songs From Andrew Lloyd Webber features five infamous songs from Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Whistle Down the Wind, Love Never Dies and Joseph. What do you reckon? Popular enough for you? ☺

Also in the song pack section, a bit of a special thing that will make your lives just that little bit easier. The Dance Off and Rock Out packs are not just great song collections in themselves but the respective dance and guitar add-on packs for them are now available.

What does that mean? Easy peasy: get the song pack, get the add-on pack and you’ll own all dance add-ons for the songs in the Dance Off pack and all guitar add-ons for the Rock Out pack in one go. Massive time saver!

Single songs I am going to try out are from Jessie J., The Killers and Eros Ramazzotti plus I’ll be waving the Move controller around to Toploader and ‘Boogie Wonderland’.

It’s officially springtime now and I don’t know about you but we’ve had the loveliest sunshine last week over here in London Town. Mhh, makes me think about songs about the weather… ☺. Anyway, on to the store update.

This week we have a very exciting song pack for you consisting of the first ever ‘proper’ classical music on the SingStore. (I say ‘proper’ because we of course also already have the fantastic Il Divo song pack on offer featuring some classical songs).

So, instead of perfecting your Lady Gaga or Jon Bon Jovi performances every weekend, why don’t take it down a notch, relax and try yourselves at some arias from five infamous composers, including Mozart’s ‘Queen Of The Night Aria’ and di Capua’s ‘O Sole Mio’. Oh, and obviously you’ll get to practice your Italian, German and French at the same time. How many song packs do THAT for you, huh?

Also on my list this week, ‘Cryin” By Aerosmith, a bit of pop from JLS and Héroes del Silencio with ‘Avalancha’ plus, how could I deny anyone my amazing Jamiroquai impression to ‘Virtual Insanity’? I told them they should have filmed me doing the dance but they didn’t listen.

Here comes the boring but necessary bit: maintenance. I guess it’s got to be done and don’t ask me why but it means that the next update will be postponed by one week to 20th April. Apologies but at least you’ll have some new tracks to keep you busy over the Easter holidays, right?

On the store this week you can get hold of the singles from our first ever musicals song pack which was released a few months ago. Just in case five songs from Oklahoma! at once was a bit much for you. Also available are the five wonderfully dark tracks from the Alternative 80s song pack.

As a fan of a certain football team over here, my download list will definately include Gerry & The Pacemakers. Also on the list are the fantastic ‘Linger’ by The Cranberries and for good ‘punk’ measure a bit of Iggy Pop needs to wander into the basket, too.

Oh, and that Lady Gaga needs to watch her back once I have had a go at the dance for ‘Bad Romance’! ☺

Is it really already time for the third update of 2011? Time flies when you’re dancing your socks off and there is no reason to stop just yet.

New dance add-ons this week include Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’, Bucks Fizz’s ‘Making Your Mind Up’ and my fave, ‘Everybody Get Up’ by boyband Five.

Song-wise, Tinie Tempah, The Cranberries and Sum 41′s ‘Pieces’ are high on my list and if I hadn’t already got all the Bon Jovi tracks, I’d obviously get my hand on them.

If you’re a Bon Jovi fan (like some people I know ) and you haven’t checked out our excellent competition yet make sure you do so before 21 February 2011 because yes my friends, that is when it ends.

I hope you all had a great start into 2011 and a relaxing holiday season before that? Apologies for not posting the first update of the year two weeks ago but it was all a bit hectic round here! You can still see what was released on 5 January on the website if you like.

It feels like I’ve been away for months but some of you might have ventured on here on or after New Year’s Eve and found a few posts from us which went up as part of the SingStar team blog takeover. If you’ve missed them it’s certainly not too late to check them out and you might just find out a few things you never knew (or never dared to ask ) about us.

In the update this week I can’t wait to get my hands on ‘Pump Up The Jam’, Pearl Jam’s ‘Even Flow’, Poison’s classic power ballad ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ and, although I cannot quite believe I am admitting this, ‘Reach’ by S Club 7. Bring it on!

I can’t quite believe it’s already the end of the year and this is the last SingStore update of 2010. Time flies… I probably had too much fun singing and dancing my way through the year to notice. Nevermind little olde me. It’s all about you in this update and keeping you busy until the first update in 2011 which will be on 5th January.

Some of you will be glad to see some lovely new Christmas songs making their way onto the store but for anyone not wanting to enter into the festive spirit just yet there are certainly other tracks you can get your mittens on like All-American Rejects, The Clash or Morrissey for example.

If you’re already feeling guilty about all the chocolate and mulled wine you’ll be consuming over the next few weeks there really is no need. Just take a look at the twelve dance add-ons, download, practice and all those extra calories will be gone in no time at all… and you’ll have even more fun watching your family and friends having a go, too! If you’re more of a rock god than a dancing queen then check out the thirteen guitar-add ons below.

When I said we want to keep you busy until next year, I really meant it. We have no less than nine song packs for you, four of which are new and exclusive to the SingStore including the dark and dangerous Alternative 80s, and we’ve worked pretty hard to get them ready in time. A big thanks to the team for pulling this off in a very short amount of time! I’ll get some biscuits for you.

I can’t resist the Kings Of Leon pack and that will wander straight into my basket on Wednesday and of course, I am also very excited about Bon Jovi: Ballads and just had to mention it. BTW, their Greatest Hits album is out now and you can find out more about it here.

Another welcome addition to the store is our first ever ‘musicals’ song pack in the shape of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s brilliant “Oklahoma!” I hope you enjoy it!

I’m glad I also have an exciting message for all our fans across the pond. The deal with Universal has been finalised for the US which means you guys will now also get great new songs in the SingStore and won’t have to be jealous of your European counterparts anymore.
