Sleeping Dogs: Things You May Have Missed On Your First Play-Through

Countries: , , , ,

Hey everyone, my name’s Dan Sochan and I’m producer here at United Front Games, developers of Sleeping Dogs. We’ve had a great time making the game over the last few years, exploring every street corner, back alley and harbour dock of Hong Kong and we really know our city inside and out! If you’re playing the game right now (you are playing, aren’t you?) you might want to read-on for some of United Front Games’ insider tips for your first play-through of the game.

COMBAT MOVES

A couple of my favourite combat moves aren’t immediately obvious to players starting out in the game. Firstly, if you sprint towards a wall and hit the Attack button just as you’re jumping off the wall, you can perform a spinning wall kick to a nearby enemy. The other is to hold down the Lock On button during a fight, and then press the X button and you’ll do a roll over your enemy’s back and be able to catch them off guard.

Sleeping Dogs And Telling Stories Through Games

Sleeping Dogs - Wei Shen

New from developer United Front Games in conjunction with Square Enix London Studios is Sleeping Dogs, the stylish tale of undercover cop Wei Shen and his journey through the murky world of the Hong Kong Triads. Executive producer Stephen van der Mescht of United Front Games took time out at E3 2012 to explain how Bruce Lee and PlayStation 2 classic Bully have helped shape this extremely promising title, and why we’re seeing gaming leave its teenage obsessions behind.

LittleBigPlanet Karting Coming To PS3!

Countries: , , , ,

Earlier this year we cut some cake and popped some champagne to celebrate Media Molecule’s sixth birthday!! We have had an awesome time during the last six years, with the highlight being the joy of seeing how the experiment we started here in Guildford has grown and given rise to a thriving LittleBigPlanet community. This year will be no different, filled with DLC, plus more brand new experiments from the LBP family for you to play with.

You already know about the fantastic LBP work that Tarsier Studios and Double Eleven Studios are doing on LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita, and now we are delighted to announce today a new LBP collaboration with the hugely talented team at United Front Games who will be leading a new project called LittleBigPlanet Karting! We’ve all seen that UFG has a wealth of racing experience and they’re also intimately familiar with LBP’s cornerstones of “PLAY, CREATE, SHARE.” With LBP’s powerful and diverse toolset in their capable hands, LittleBigPlanet Karting is sure to be an adventure that both LBP fans and kart racing fans alike will enjoy! We are very eager to see what you think of this union and especially excited to see what happens now that you have a 3D environment to create in! It’s the start of a whole new LBP world! Have a look at the debut trailer to see for yourself.

ModNation Racers PS Vita: Modding With Your Fingertips

Countries: , , , ,

As most of you heard at the Sony Press Conference kicking off E3, we are proudly bringing the ModNation franchise to the much anticipated PlayStation Vita. It was a great opportunity to share with you all some of the things our team has in store. For starters, the ModNation Racers PS3 Community has created in just over a year’s time over 2 million Mods, Karts and Tracks. All of which will be available to anyone who purchases ModNation Racers (Working Title) for PS Vita on day one. That means by using the online capabilities and processing power of the PS Vita, the ModNation team has made it possible for users to download any PS3 user generated creation and bring it with them on the go.

The team has also made huge strides in creating a ground up effort to make a ModNation title that takes full advantage of the PlayStation Vita features. As mentioned in the Press Conference, this title is not a port of the PSP or PS3. On the creation side, we showed that in a matter of seconds how fast and easy it is to create a track by drawing it with your finger. The front touch capability of the PS Vita has kicked the door wide open for more intuitive ways to edit your track and place props to your personal liking. But without a doubt, the single most element that received the most “Oooos and Aaaahs,” was the power of the back touch.

Play puppet master in your very own ModNation universe and raise mountains by simply touching the back panel. The longer you hold your fingertips to the back panel, the higher the peaks rise. On the front panel, if you feel inclined to create a lake, simply press down until you strike water. We also demonstrated that the integrity of ModNation kart racing is still intact with the advantage of Dual Analog Sticks. With steering on the left stick, and performing stunts on the right, racing could not be more fun.

As you will watch in this never before seen video, creation is certainly at your fingertips. It is a great time for technology and the PlayStation Vita has given us a wealth of tools to work with. We are excited to say that this is only the tip of the iceberg. There is plenty more that will be revealed in the months to come so keep your eyes peeled.

Also, be sure to check out G4‘s Best of E3 2011 special airing Monday, June 20 at 6:30pm ET/PT. We were nominated for Best Handheld and Best Racing Game!
