Happy ModNation Monday, PlayStation.Blog!

Josh here with a petrol-fuelled ModNation Racers update.

With the festive season just around the corner, we’re giving you the opportunity to add some Christmas calamity to your tracks. In this week’s PS Store publish, you’ll be able to get your hands on the ModNation Holiday Parts Pack!

Create a winter wonderland with six scene props: a Snow Fort, a Christmas Tree, a Christmas House, a Reindeer, a Candy Cane and a Wreath.

Cause massive pile-ups with five festive track props: Presents, a Teddy Bear, a Snowman, a Toy Soldier and a Sleigh.

Last week, our very own ModNation Racers was officially nominated Best PS3 Game and Best Driving Game in the 2010 Video Game Awards. To celebrate our delight, we’re rewarding ModNation petrol heads with another week of Double XP!

Fire up your PS3 and put your pedal to the metal to take advantage of this one-week offer which is live as of… right now!

Next Monday, we’ll also be kicking off qualifying sessions for the ModNation Racers European Tournament that we recently announced on the Official ModNation Community Site. Racers have now been selected, so stay tuned over the coming weeks to see which country will be crowned European Champions.

Greetings from Oz!

Those crazy characters from Modnation Racers are at it again. As the Mods continue their journey across the globe, this week saw them stop over in Sydney, Australia to celebrate the upcoming launch of ModNation Racers on PS3 and PSP.

Having already visited the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the infamous strip in Vegas, it was now time for the Mods to get in some sun and surf Down Under. Let’s check out what they got up to while holidaying in Sydney.

In-between creating mods of football legends for a competition at playstation2010fifaworldcup.com and writing about the game for eu.playstation.com, I’ve played a lot of ModNation Racers over the last couple of months.

Much of our coverage has focused on how easy it is to create your own mods, karts and tracks. Believe me, it’s no exaggeration to say that you can be racing on your own unique course using your own character and vehicle in less than ten minutes.

So when William Ho, Game Designer from United Front Games, came into the SCEE office for an interview, I wanted to talk about the more advanced creation tools, as well as Career Mode and online racing via PlayStation Network, in greater depth. Click below to watch the full interview.

Letting your imagination spill onto the screen is a doddle in ModNation Racers and, beneath the surface, there’s an astounding array of creative options for you to get your teeth into.

I honestly can’t wait to see what you do with them.
