Buzz! Comes To PlayStation Home

Hi everyone. My name’s Rob and I’m the European Product Manager for Buzz!. I’m really happy to be able to share some great Buzz! news with you all in my first post here on SCEE’s PlayStation.Blog.

Very soon, we’re going to launch a brand new space in PlayStation Home called Buzz! HQ, where you can chat and meet up with other quiz fans in a new lobby area or take part in a multiplayer Buzz! quiz game extravaganza.

The game works by making you run around the studio to answer questions, all of which are taken from the best content that you’ve created on the website. Four coloured answer buttons are laid out on the floor and you need to make sure you’re standing on the right answer when the time runs out. The winner’s decided over four rounds, and there are a number of exclusive prizes up for grabs for the greatest players. I’m hoping this is going to be really great fun, and bring a great new Buzz! multiplayer game to PlayStation Home.

So keep your eyes peeled for the new Buzz! space, which will be live very soon. In the meantime, check out our pictures of the space and let me know what you think.

Happy buzzing!

Wow, nice! Another update to the blog today. Things are looking up! xD
On topic: I’ll be sure to pay a visit to Buzz’s space in Home when it launches.

rick_2k 28 May, 2009 @ 4:03 pm   2

We don’t have permission to see those photos! Its just white space for us mere users lol!

rick_2k 28 May, 2009 @ 4:03 pm   3

Oh never mind they are visible now 🙂

Soild_Nat 28 May, 2009 @ 4:04 pm   5

Sounds like another great space for Home.

BiosNova 28 May, 2009 @ 4:05 pm   6

Sound cool, loving this new communication feeling from SCEE at last. FYI the pictures don’t show 😉

imajinetion 28 May, 2009 @ 4:06 pm   7

Hope the pictures work soon. Still, this is really nice. Home is growing.

TheLastDestroyer 28 May, 2009 @ 4:06 pm   8

Really nice way of implementing your game into home. Nice job.

Can we expect goodies such as Buzz shirts or even Buzz furniture? 😀

    Rob Rutter 28 May, 2009 @ 4:17 pm

There are a few goodies up for grabs for winning, mainly special Buzz! T-shirts you can only get from being the champ, or for winning a set number of times. I don’t want to spoil the surprise too much though…

Heddskott 28 May, 2009 @ 4:06 pm   9

I’m glad to see home is growing. Will be nice later when more supported games come.

As Solid_Nat said, pictures not working..

Super--Brad 28 May, 2009 @ 4:07 pm   10

Nice to see buzz on home with the million of buzz ads.

PS. This blog looks and feels better than the us’s congrats :).

ashbash159 28 May, 2009 @ 4:10 pm   11

I’m actually exited about this update, normally game spaces in home don’t have too much to do, but this looks brilliant.

agm2502 28 May, 2009 @ 4:10 pm   12

Brilliant, can’t wait. Love Buzz and this space sounds really intereting. Hopefully we’ll be able to win some Home t-shirts etc from playing in the space.

    Rob Rutter 28 May, 2009 @ 4:13 pm

Sorry about the pictures everyone (first day and all that!) We’re looking to get these back up ASAP, but glad everyone seems excited about the Buzz! space so far : )

Wilester 28 May, 2009 @ 4:10 pm   13

Could we not have the “Report Abuse to a Moderator” under every post please 🙁

StalkingSilence 28 May, 2009 @ 4:12 pm   14

Great news! Loving the Buzz! and SingStar coverage. Hope we’ll see more as they are SCEE-produced!

BluSniper 28 May, 2009 @ 4:12 pm   15

Awesome, haven’t played Home in i while, I guess I’ve missed a bit..

DANTE234 28 May, 2009 @ 4:13 pm   16

thanks rob, great news about buzz space, i like the sound of this multiplayer game, great start to the blog

Awsome news!!! The space looks really cool and these updates on the blog are coming thick and fast today lol

tretle 28 May, 2009 @ 4:14 pm   18

You rock Rob:) 😛
So happy we have a blog of our own and a cool new buzz space. When I first saw it in 2007 I thought that the buzz space and warhawk space were the best uses of home thus far.
And no other spaces have really given me that impression since 🙂

Darkos87 28 May, 2009 @ 4:14 pm   19

GREAT NEWS… can you plz have someone from marketing/ pr give a post. we need to know the names of these people…

Marnos 28 May, 2009 @ 4:14 pm   20

Cheers Rob. Nice One.

agm2502 28 May, 2009 @ 4:15 pm   21

Oh yeah we need a singstar space, with a videowall highlighting the best user uploaded videos etc.

RagingWhisky 28 May, 2009 @ 4:19 pm   22

Buzz – Needs more CHAINSAW

milnerant 28 May, 2009 @ 4:19 pm   23

This is great news. I hope maybe the items shown on posters in Home maybe the content given away to winners. They are too good to hand out to very few.

Great work, cant wait to see it.

    Rob Rutter 28 May, 2009 @ 4:25 pm

    Hi Milnerant,

The items on the posters in Home at the moment are the exclusive prizes for the Buzz! World Championships winners. I’m afraid the Buzz! Home space prizes will be different to those, but still good to win : )

megren89 28 May, 2009 @ 4:20 pm   24

5 For This , Thanks Rob for the news 😀 .

Kylen08 28 May, 2009 @ 4:22 pm   25

Ikkarus 28 May, 2009 @ 4:29 pm   27

Great stuff!

Really nice to see support for games like these. I’ve never owned a Buzz! game but I play it round my friends often. This sounds like a lot of fun though so I’ll be there! 🙂

Clockender 28 May, 2009 @ 4:30 pm   28

Looking forward to Buzzing in Home 🙂

The pictures of the space are brilliant too. 🙂

g00nerz4eva 28 May, 2009 @ 4:40 pm   32

Very much looking forward to playing Buzz in HOME!

BTW, congrats on the Blog launch! It’s about time we got one, and frankly it looks much nicer than the US one. Kudos.

ashbash159 28 May, 2009 @ 4:41 pm   33

I’m just wondering why the video seen on the Ameican blog has not been shown on this blog.

If the European blog wants to succeed they need to have what the American blog has and more!

TheLastDestroyer 28 May, 2009 @ 4:42 pm   34

Yay a reply to my post!

OMG.. this is some wicked news. such a great idea! Nice Rob how come the US Blog gets a video of the said space but we get pictures m8?.. still great space, keep it up

    Rob Rutter 28 May, 2009 @ 4:51 pm

Thanks KAP, the video’s getting uploaded now and should be showing on here shortly. Thanks for the great feedback!

GreyFox_92 28 May, 2009 @ 4:45 pm   36

Very good news!

TedvarT 28 May, 2009 @ 4:49 pm   37

This is a good reason to actually start using Home ! Now i just have to update the software and start waiting for Buzz 😀

cubehouse 28 May, 2009 @ 4:51 pm   38

Awesome, this blog rocks already 😀

CruizD 28 May, 2009 @ 4:52 pm   39

Will there be any HOME announcements at E3?

Lewis2 28 May, 2009 @ 4:53 pm   40

Wow, sounds like a brilliant idea, and great fun, can’t wait to try it out!

daffycare 28 May, 2009 @ 4:53 pm   41

brill best blog so far

xshane 28 May, 2009 @ 4:55 pm   42

Looks like fun

Jerommeke 28 May, 2009 @ 4:59 pm   43

Very nice space.
Looks like home is getting more intresting.
I like Xi and hope something great comes out. Will there be more contest/games/spaces 😀 like the one from Xi ?

Departed45 28 May, 2009 @ 5:15 pm   44

This is great news! Now I won’t feel so jealous about not getting the prizes that are displayed in the mall! It looks like a fun MULTIPLAYER game (Exactly what home needed!!).

Ten points to the first person who sets up a quiz night, *cough Carla cough* :smileywink:

The3DGalaxian 28 May, 2009 @ 5:18 pm   45

When I saw this just now on the US blog I thought, oh well another month or so before we hear about this on the EU one but I’m very impressed to see it here too. I’m really liking how SCEE seems to be putting a lot of effort into this and I’m excited for the future of the blog and home which is definitely going from strength to strength, and anyone who isn’t following Xi, I reccomend you check it out, the mini games are worth it alone in my opinion.

vherostar 28 May, 2009 @ 5:20 pm   46

great news on this and hope to see a lot more spaces coming to home.

Ackers11 28 May, 2009 @ 5:22 pm   47

plz say you got one sorted 🙂

It looks interesting from the pics. Kind of reminds me of that gameshow in the 80s where they had hundred of people on the street stand on certain squares to answer the questions. Argh, what was it called?!? Anyway, I’m quite a fan of BUZZ, and since this is actually one of the few games that the missus enjoys playing, perhaps this new development (HOME integration) will even entice her into trying out HOME!

xKillerMonkeyx 28 May, 2009 @ 5:29 pm   49

This space looks like it is going to be so fun, any exact release date? Live soon means Thrusday coming? Or could it be a random day like tomorrow?

Also, i have always thought about buying Buzz, is it available on the PS3?

    Rob Rutter 28 May, 2009 @ 5:43 pm

Hi xKillerMonkeyx, I can’t give an exact release date for the space today, but ‘soon’ does mean ‘soon’ : )

Yes, you can get Buzz! on PS3, you mean you don’t have it already? ; )

ukDougal 28 May, 2009 @ 5:33 pm   50

Excellent – looks like an implementation of the classic Runaround TV program, should be fun. This is the motivation I needed to re-install Home on my PS3.

Really like the new blog – keep up the good work.
