Halloween Comes To PlayStation Home

Hi guys, time for a PlayStation Home update!

First up, you’re all cordially invited to PS Home’s very own Halloween party! Taking place from 6-8pm (GMT) on 31st October 2009 within the Burn Zombie Burn space, all appropriately dressed attendees will get a (trick or) treat upon arrival. There are five exclusive new costumes available in Threads especially for this event – including a werewolf, Frankenstein, a witch, a ghost and his and her skeleton suits. Check out the screenshots of these delightful outfits below:

If you’re wearing one the above costumes when you enter the space you’ll net yourself a very special (ghoulish) Reward. If you’re not, just pull on the costumes when you’re in the space and jump on the enormous red button to receive your prize. 😉

Home Halloween

And if that wasn’t enough, we’re running Home’s first official storyboard competition alongside the event. Using the Home camera (available through the Menu Pad) we’re asking you to supply five images with captions and upload them to our Flickr group. The wittiest five storyboards will go on display in Home Square and then you will decide who wins! The lucky winner will receive a brand spanking new PSPgo 🙂

Full entry details can be found here.

Oh, and be sure to check out the commerce point in the Burn Zombie Burn space, something very special may be lurking in there….

Home Halloween

Not only that, we also have the Tekken 6 space launching this week. Perfect for you PS Home brawlers, be sure to check this out when Home re-opens tomorrow – screenshots in the interim are below:

Also, the Uncharted 2 space has received a touch of maintenance, so all of you that were having problems accessing the Fortunate Thieves and Torch Race mini-games should now be just fine.

Finally, keep your eyes on the EU blog for details of a very special, SCEE-exclusive event coming your way soon. I won’t say any more however let me leave you with the screenshots below… 😉

Sweet, the Tekken space will be visited.

Very nice update there. question: is it possible there will be a littlebigplanet space?

DANTHEMAN121 28 October, 2009 @ 2:13 pm   5

Wow Epic Update again well done SCEE have some pumpkin pie and have a Happy Halloween

Any word on pricing for the costumes? Also, are they available in threads or alter ego, text says one thing posters say another? They look great!

    Elliott Linger 28 October, 2009 @ 2:31 pm

    Hey slatz22 – good spot!
They’ll be in Alter Ego, not Threads…
And the whole costumes (for Witch, Werewolf, Ghost, Frankenstein) will be 1.99 euros
    (they look awesome)

:O a psp go space! I am starting to like these weekly updates 😛

Heres a list of question i hope you can answer…
1. Will the Halloween costumes be free?
2. When do our storyboards have to be entered by?

P.S. Looks like we have a PSP GO event coming soon… 😀

Guillemots 28 October, 2009 @ 2:14 pm   9

nice! can’t wait to see the new event of SCEE.

Jontis_00 28 October, 2009 @ 2:15 pm   10

@ mango1234
I think 6/11-09

Guillemots 28 October, 2009 @ 2:15 pm   11

oh, any news about the Loco Roco Space?

Carnivius_Prime 28 October, 2009 @ 2:16 pm   12

Those costumes are cool. The werewolf in particular looks fantastic.

    Elliott Linger 28 October, 2009 @ 2:34 pm

Interesting fact: when you change the height on the werewolf you can open and close his mouth – which is cool!

Offering such awesome costumes for only 2 hours seems a little…mean. I would LOVE to go but I simply can’t at that time. 🙁

Jontis_00 28 October, 2009 @ 2:22 pm   14

Sure the costumes won’t be up longer then 2 hours?

    Elliott Linger 28 October, 2009 @ 2:35 pm

Correct Jontis_00 – the costumes will be available for longer than 2 hours 😉
(that’s when the Halloween party is on)

Nice to see a lot of new content. I look forward to revisiting the Uncharted 2 space now that the games are fixed. 🙂

Mattaio19 28 October, 2009 @ 2:38 pm   16

Elliot, how long will the costumes be in the shops for?. Will it be like the Wolverine exclusive stuff, like a week?.

Matt 🙂

Why can’t the halloween costumes be available all the time? I mean the X-Mas costumes are still available, aren’t they?

milnerant 28 October, 2009 @ 2:45 pm   18

Fantastic update, I thought Halloween would never arrive here :D. Good work, those outfits look great!!!

I have also been playing Tekken 6 this morning with some nice unlockables to get. A great incentive, all games should have this approach.

godsgift1888 28 October, 2009 @ 2:46 pm   19

haha awesome the weekly updates are great keep them coming 😀

any word on wether or not this maintanance will be held back to friday or will it go live on thursday ?

Jontis_00 28 October, 2009 @ 2:49 pm   20

Or will the costumes be launched at saturday? (at Halloween)

Nice update, it’s good to see SCEE taking their responsibilities to Home a bit more seriously lately when it comes to community events! Maybe one day they’ll see fit to release Picture Frames too (I still don’t see what the problem is with these!).

The timing of the event is unfortunate though as I don’t think I’ll be able to make the ‘party’, however I’m loving that Werewolf outfit so I’ll be sure to pick that up, assuming it’s actually an outfit for say £1.50 as opposed to a head for £1.50, a body for £1.50, some legs for £1.50 and some feet for £1.50!!! When you guys do silly rip-off tricks like that it turns me right off…

Glad to see the Uncharted 2 space has been fixed too, I could only get the Mask game to work when I visited. Speaking of Uncharted 2, why on Earth does that not support Home game launching? The Party System it uses is literally a perfect fit for Home game-launching, yet it’s not supported! Given that Uncharted 2 is such an important title for Sony, and Home is allegedly an important project for them I will expect a patch soon (I mean fancy supporting Twitter before supporting Home! Although the Twitter thing is a cool bonus!).

wardragon989 28 October, 2009 @ 2:50 pm   22

Erm if the Werewolf comes with “tail” this is the first thing I will buy. But if it doesn’t regardless of how cool it looks no buy for me. =(

So does it come complete with tail? =D

Jontis_00 28 October, 2009 @ 2:59 pm   23

Will the skeleton costume be for free? or will it cost 1,99 like the others?

    Elliott Linger 28 October, 2009 @ 3:37 pm

    Hi Jontis_00,
The skeleton costume is segemented (head, torso etc) and costs 0.99 euro per section.

It would be better if you always post the age restrictions for the content, so that german home users know if they can access the content or not! I do not even go on home anymore, because i fear to be disappointed if i get stuck in a banned space again or cant enter the new ones.

assassinkk3 28 October, 2009 @ 3:35 pm   25

Great update! wonder what the SCEE-exclusive event is hmmmm

Happy Halloween!

does this mean there’s actually a chance of a christmas event in the eu home?
and when will europe get the photo frames and the stage set, and ghostbusters firehouse, space?
the stage set space was released months ago, if you don’t want any user content in the eu home, as the lack of the graffiti game, the photo frames and stage set indicate, then at least have the decency to tell us.

Nice update, are those functional arcade games in the Tekken space?
Great that the UC2 games are fixed also.
Those costumes do look quite good …. it’ll be a struggle not to purchase more than one… 🙂

eastavenge 28 October, 2009 @ 3:48 pm   28

Question; Will the tekken space have the goodie goodie freebies inside?

orange_beaker 28 October, 2009 @ 4:02 pm   31

godsgift1888 28 October, 2009 @ 4:08 pm   32

U_n_y_o_n 28 October, 2009 @ 4:20 pm   34

The werewolf outfit looks cool, but with those large shoulders, will it fit with other items of clothing?

FIGHTFULL 28 October, 2009 @ 4:25 pm   35

Awesome update!!
wil that Burn Zombie Burn costume also be avaible for men?

Just curious but what will happen if a sneaky Home user stepped on Big Red Shiny Button in the Burn Zombie Burn Space? Will you quite literally throw them to the wolves? 😉

Great update. Thanks guys and Happy Hallowe’en to every one at SCEE!

Oh should have added if they stepped on the costume without any monster costumes on. My bad.

Kitty-Wali- 28 October, 2009 @ 4:32 pm   38

bridgelad98 28 October, 2009 @ 6:44 pm   43

Great Update, can’t wait will the outfits be avaible tommorow or on the 31st?

ieatpixels 28 October, 2009 @ 7:38 pm   44

it’d be tomorow, they made the posters saying about the event on which day, it hardly makes any sence to have them for sale starting the 31st.

Hey Elliott can you tell us when we can expect:

Uncharted drakes fortune gamespace?
Godfather gamespace?
Guitar Hero gamespace?
Warhawk gamespace?
Siren gamespace?
Disgaea 3 gamespace?
Namco museum gamespace?
Gamerlounge gamespace?
Pixel Junk gamespace?

Photoframes in PS Home Europe/UK?
Namco Arcade?

These are gamespaces/features missing from Europe/UK PS Home that we want badly…If SCEE would make an effort to get all this to us by the end of the year we can finally move onto better things and all agree SCEE/SCEA/SCEJ are all on the same page.

Thanks for reading this

seriously why can’t u guys price things correctly ..
every item in Home & PSN is a total rip ..

get it right or get to frack!!

totally sick of it

Too bad I’m going out n Halloween.

wardragon989 28 October, 2009 @ 9:25 pm   48

So no tail for the werewolf costume? =(

Rammsoldat 29 October, 2009 @ 1:11 am   49

Sounds like a bit of fun, will be sure to check it out. Ive recently got my ps3 back after a few months without one and been back onto home and its much improved so well done on that.

Still feels like a work in progress but i can see great potential and little fun events like this make the place all the more sweet.

Rammsoldat 29 October, 2009 @ 1:14 am   50

45 <–this too, i was looking for picture frames because i was seeing in all the pre release home videos people being able to decorate their space with pictures off their hard drive and have been unable to do this yet.
