PlayStationHome: GAME Lunar Leaps Into Home, Plus Warhawk Apartment!

We know you’ve been waiting to find out more after seeing the GAME posters in Home Square; well, we’re pleased to confirm that this week will see the launch of the GAME Moonbase in PlayStationHome! The Moonbase, set on the Moon’s surface, is a fantastic place for gamers of all types to hang out, socialise and pick up all the latest info on upcoming releases.

On the ground floor of the Moonbase you will find an information hub, with posters, internet terminals and a video screen. On the second floor you’ll find everything you need to let your hair down: a dance floor, meeting places and more.

Being devoted to gaming, the Moonbase will also host a number of interactive elements and at launch you’ll be able to jump straight into the Lunar Leap mini game. Take giant zero-gravity leaps across a crater full of special pads to complete the goals. Beat the time limit and you’ll be rewarded with an exclusive GAME space suit outfit.

That’s not all. Also launching into Home this week is the Warhawk personal space, along with a range of furnishings. There’s no better way to enjoy your Warhawk apartment than dressed up as a Chernovan or Eucadian, so head for Threads where you’ll find costumes for both – or alternatively take to the skies and have a go at the 2 player co-op airbourne assault mini-game, which comes packaged with the personal space – the choice is yours.

In the mall you’ll also find a selection of ornaments from Uncharted 2, including the Silver Llama, Coatimundi Treasure and a Golden Monkey. Check out the screenshot below:

A large range of clothing from Namco Bandai also arrives this week, including Pac Man, Dig Dug and Galaga shirts.

The Hustle Kings Ball Dodge Challenge continues this week. If you haven’t tried it out yet, what are you waiting for? With Hustle Kings gaining Game Launching support this week, now’s the perfect time. To get you started, here’s a quick look at what you can expect:

Finally, this coming week is your last chance to visit the Heavy Rain: Evidence Analysis and White Knight Chronicles event so if you haven’t paid them a visit yet, get moving! 😉

Did you enjoy this?

When’s the Namco Essentials coming?

    Alex Weekes 17 March, 2010 @ 6:23 pm

I can’t comment on timing for the space yet. We’ll make sure to tell you all as soon as we can though.

Gekidami 17 March, 2010 @ 6:11 pm   2

Quite a decent update. The Warhawk space is nice though late. Lets hope we get spaces for StarHawk (if it really exists) on time.

Jordyboppers 17 March, 2010 @ 6:12 pm   3

“When’s the Namco Essentials coming?”

DANTHEMAN121 17 March, 2010 @ 6:12 pm   4

Sweet update Warhawk Space is a must buy

Also any news on easter events would be kool

DANNY3194 17 March, 2010 @ 6:14 pm   5

Another great update by the way

FIGHTFULL 17 March, 2010 @ 6:16 pm   6

Warhawk space looks cool 😀

ProphetOfRage 17 March, 2010 @ 6:22 pm   7

Home is poor and a waste of time, effort and money.
Lots of “spaces” in which there is absolutely nothing to do.
Lots and lots of “stuff” to buy which is poor value for money and almost totally useless and pointless.
I am most unimpressed with Home.
It has changed into an unrecognisable marketing scam compared to the user functionality that was originally shown and promised.

    Alex Weekes 17 March, 2010 @ 6:29 pm

Have you tried Sodium? And while I’m sure you’re including both Audi and GAME spaces in you marketing comments, these are both spaces that will bring varying content over time. There are also the newer interactive personal spaces, such as Musicality, London Pub and Loco Island.

Retro_1973 17 March, 2010 @ 6:23 pm   8

Warhawk space does look cool! Are there rewards from the mini-game? Those little plane ornaments perhaps…?

very poor alex . namco stuff to buy yet no word about namco essentials game scee need to get a grip and get us this stuff thats overdue for nearly a year , also so much for your comments ages ago about more staff was hired so we would see a lot more things weekly , STILL WAITING

    Alex Weekes 17 March, 2010 @ 6:49 pm

I can confidently say that our ability to release content has been improving. In addition to recent new space releases – including some that have been waited for – we’ve also made significant steps in the area of item releases. if anyone would like to track the content releases I’m sure my confidence will be proven, especially over the coming weeks.

@ 7 ive noticed that too home ihas become a gorified advertisements hub and overpriced avatar store , what about selling dart boards , pool tables , poker tables , beds , etc to make appartments feel personal and nt just different looking space with limited non functional items in every 1

home is a advertisements hub

siren space

Mattaio19 17 March, 2010 @ 6:38 pm   13

Great update. Looking forward till tomorrow!. Alex, can you tell us when we will be expecting the Ghostbusters Firehouse?. You mentioned it on the forum a while back … i think :). Thanks, Matt

KC-alpha-14 17 March, 2010 @ 6:38 pm   14

OK. I will be checking out the GAME room in the near future. As for #7. Don’t like it? Don’t waste Alex’s time by complaining, sorry don’t waste our time.

siren space , ghostbusters , stage set and namco essentials is 4 most would be very happy with but why are you guys not listening we got a raw deal with pic frames so least team could do is get these for us

ff 13 costumes in april lol . home needs these spaces and costumes realesed withink a week max to promote said games lol

andycass 17 March, 2010 @ 6:49 pm   17

Another pathetic update. just love to see grown men running round home in clothes they’ve bought for their virtual dolls.

Andrefpvs 17 March, 2010 @ 6:53 pm   18

Someone please tell me what the rewards for completing the Heavy Rain: Evidence Analysis space is, so I know whether it’s worth doing or not.

so alex you think us being behind in about 6 or 7 spaces and severall items and appartments is getting better lol . gd to see what u.s get probably another 300 items and several spaces that are actually fun and not just to promote companys

i know im harsh but theres no denying we get treated like an ugly cousin with home and to think it was made in u.k yet ours is seriously lacking in everything heck our home square has memorys issues hence why we cant get redeem stations or the world maps in home square

Even after the new interface I don´t ‘get’ Home.
All spaces have the sime lifeless feel to me and the games you can play are awefull. Everything presented in home feels like trying to get your money. Once a month I check it out but it keeps disapointing.
It sounded great when I first bought it and almost non of the prommices then made came through.

AnimaOnline 17 March, 2010 @ 7:25 pm   22

“The next battle is about to begin”
Is this anything to do with the long rumoured Warhawk sequel? A hint maybe? Or am I just wrong?

TheSabreman 17 March, 2010 @ 7:26 pm   23

Good update.

I have high hopes for the Game space and hopefully it will have regular updates to make you want to go back.

I’m please with the progress Home is making with regular new content and the improvements with V1.35.

Maybe a sale or a 3 for 2 promotion might be beneficial ?

Time for me to go back to Loco Island 🙂

    Alex Weekes 18 March, 2010 @ 8:41 am

There’s a long term plan for the GAME space, just like with the Audi space which has seen a few small updates already (such as the A1 launch) and has plenty more to come yet.

there never seems to be very many sale in e.u home which is shocking considering way pay upto 4 pound for stuff yet u.s pay around 80 cents to 4 dollars which is less , bundle deals with clothing on a weekly or 2 weekly basis is a sensible idea but hey look who im putting this idea too lol not u alex

Stinkinmushroom 17 March, 2010 @ 7:35 pm   25

Seriously guys… trophy room!? ( just inserted it in the Share section… but isn’t approved..yet)

giving abuse coz im voicing complaints is sad m8

i got a 1 day ban for less than that abuse i just got

Apnomis 17 March, 2010 @ 8:42 pm   28

I know you need to make money from Home but all these Personal Spaces seem like a waste of time to me – I go to Home to share in community events or walk around and see what other PlayStation Home users are talking about – this is the unique selling point of Home but all these personal spaces defeat the purpose unless you have lot’s of PSN Friends that also use Home.

Sodium is a far better method – a Public Space where you can meet up with other Home users, with a ‘demo’ of sorts for the mini game, and the ability to pay up if you want a deeper more involved experience.

Personal Spaces should be a place to decorate and put up your photos and invite friends back to if they are in Home too – they should not form the main Home experience full of features and mini-games.

Please consider making spaces like this Public Spaces with premium elements rather than Personal Spaces. It is the Events and Public elements that makes Home work – you are far more likely to make an impulse purchase if you’re looking on at other people playing it from the public area of the space…

Your really sad to have to resort to such acts on a blog dude.. seriously. You almost act like what seany is saying isnt true OR directed souly at you!

This blog attracts millons of people with opinions not everyone might not agree on, doesnt mean you got to act like a selfish guy and write such stuff like you did, just makes you look silly really m8.

Sort it out.

And as for what seany said, hes utterly right, everyone makes out like SCEE are saints and if they release a Tshirt or 10 but no content they promised us TWELVE not SIX.. but TWELVE months ago we must be greatful? you crazy? we have every right to complain and voice our opinion on the saaaaaaaaame PR qoutes they give us week in and week out “soon” & “be paient” only works so long; well i’d say that but then theres those like djreplay who love the way home is right now… half asked!

SCEE, it doesnt take a genius to do the things we asked for, youve proved you can do it b4. theres no need for repeated excuses on spaces and content we know can be ported to the EU.

Jodlegutt 17 March, 2010 @ 9:51 pm   30

Nice update:D

SpyDudeFX 17 March, 2010 @ 10:11 pm   31

No Final Fantasy costumes?

waypoetic 17 March, 2010 @ 10:14 pm   32

Why the hell are you supporting Game? That store sells games for 70 bucks! And the employees aren’t even intressted in videogames, well, most of them ain’t.. Game and GameStop are the worst videogame retailers out there. Period.

RealSolidSnake 17 March, 2010 @ 10:49 pm   33

Hey Alex Weekes, i have to inform you that my Playstation Home keeps crashing, and it only started doing that as soon as i updated it ver 1.35, what do i do here???

    Alex Weekes 18 March, 2010 @ 8:49 am

You should post on the forums or contact support for technical problems. Unfortunately I can’t help with the amount of information you’ve provided here.

We have seen recently that some people have had their XMB clock change to a date in 2020 and causing login problems for Home. You might want to check yours and change it back to 2010 if you’ve been getting a Z(9,-2) error.

DANNY3194 17 March, 2010 @ 11:00 pm   34

Hello Alex, I have an easy question for you well…

Will GAME get a shop in the Mall? If not can we expect new shops in the near future?

    Alex Weekes 18 March, 2010 @ 8:52 am

No shop in the mall for GAME.

As far as new shops in the mall in the near future, keep in mind that each additional store generates extra workload. With our limited resources we’re focussing on producing content as efficiently as we can, and that currently means using the existing stores.

RealSolidSnake 17 March, 2010 @ 11:05 pm   35

In actual fact, it keeps crashing before i even have a chance to log in, my PS3 freezes and then i have to switch it off again, every single time. it also keeps saying Failed to download content and thats when it crashes, has anyone else been having any problems since ver1.35?

    Alex Weekes 18 March, 2010 @ 8:53 am

Ignore my previous reply … have you tried deleting your Home install (use [triangle] in the XMB) and then re-installing with a fresh download? Doing this has resolved similar issues for others.

ieatpixels 18 March, 2010 @ 12:41 am   36

nice! namco gear!
looks like a decent update, it’s a shame there’s always people disatisfied.

Any idea when we forgotten europeans will the the picture frames?

    Alex Weekes 18 March, 2010 @ 8:55 am

I posted an update to the forums earlier this year on picture frames, giving a timeline well into the second half of this year as an earliest estimate. Unfortunately court rulings in Europe since then are likely to give us further problems with releasing picture frames.

Kenshin71 18 March, 2010 @ 8:22 am   38

I went into Home after a long absence to see if the loading times had really improved. Things I noticed:

It seemed marginally quicker but still not fluid.

The new navigation is poor, you have to scroll through reams of icons to find places. Was it user tested? It should be like a map, with hubs representing Sports, RPGs, Action Adventure, Racing etc and then highlighting the hub showing the individual spaces around it.

Home needs more and better interactive content to attract and retain users. The Warhawk game for instance should be in the public space. Most of the mini games are poorly done, unimaginative or have poor controls. The Sodium game should be 4 person multiplayer.

Spaces should have a stall/shop with an AI NPC, not cheesy or stupid, just something to initially interact with to purchase content. Maybe a game character like Cole or a Tibetan trader in the UC2 space for example.

Spaces are closed off with no information why. Coming soon? Opening next month? At least indicate the area can’t be accessed.

On the bright side some of the environments look great. It really has the potential to be a fun, interesting place to visit.

Warhawk space! Is this building the hype for an upcomnig announcement about a sequel? Let’s hope so!

gogauth08 18 March, 2010 @ 10:23 am   40

Hello alex weekes, Can you tell me if the irem spaces are planned for the europe?

Nice update, those Uncharted items are the nicest things i’ve ever seen on Home.
I don’t suppose Game will be doing trade-ins…? 😀

the game thing looks quite intresting, but i deleted home two weeks ago

intil home has the things sony promised it would have before it launched. i am not coming back to it.

the other reason was that it takes to long to load, even when i increased the cache size to 12GB i saw no inprovement in speed or anything

    Alex Weekes 19 March, 2010 @ 1:24 pm

With regards load time, looks like you deleted a week too early. Last week’s 1.35 client update included changes that have made loading into Home, and moving between spaces, quicker than previously.

danielmccue 18 March, 2010 @ 1:27 pm   43

the recent overhall update is brilliant guys it looks alot more proffesional and simpler it also seems to load faster too good work

Alastair- 18 March, 2010 @ 4:52 pm   44

Completely uncalled for comment by ProphetofRage. I’m sure if he worked at Sony he would completely understand. I’m looking forward to 2010 for Home but one space I’m seriously jealous of is the SIREN space in America. I love SIREN and the mini game in the space looks great. Would really like to see that, I know a lot of people that want it here. I like GAME but the space looks a bit tacky. Tl;Dr MORE CONTENT FOR EU HOME! 😀

Any chance of getting a lunar apartment at some point? I know I´d get one.

Hopefully its not too late to get a response.

I have a few questions, answer selectively if you wish.

#1 – Will we ever get the Warhawk space that the Americans have had for awhile now, being able to plan out sessions would be awesome and I was sad when it wasn’t included considering the lack of games with game launching support initially. Also it still seems to be the most useful space I have seen for people who actually own the game so far.

#2 – Can you please make game launching a REQUIREMENT like trophies for all multi-player games going forward. This would increase the amount of people in home and thus the amount of people who buy stuff.
Whenever I ask friends why they dont just get a ps3 and dump the 360 they tell me its because of the coherency of the online experience(cross game invites).
Game launching is the perfect tool to kill this argument but management don’t seem to understand why people are buying from the competitor instead. The feature is there, its time to get it in use.
There is no excuse for this, don’t blame economics or time constraints. If the api was done correctly it would be trivial to implement in future games. Its not going to cost the developer lots of money and its not going to turn them away, your competitor has ten times more requirements then you and they seem to do alright.
Tell management that they are screwing over the success of the platform.

#3 – Can you link the game launching api with the cross game invites api(call of duty modern warfare 2) so that a developer only needs to add support once rather than add support for each individually.
Have them share the same backend, they do the same thing essentially but they just have a different ui.

CV3OFCOV84 22 March, 2010 @ 12:09 am   49

loving ps3 at the min love ps home love god of war 3 love heavy rain things look good for sony atm but would stilllove to see cross game chat tbh

gogauth08 22 March, 2010 @ 12:36 pm   50

Hello Alex, can you tell me if and when the irem spaces are planned in europe? thank you
