‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (1st April 2010)

Good morning all (not often I’m posting before lunch), today the store will be up nice and early, because we’re lovely folks like that :)

Lovely folks that bring you the PSP Favourites promotion (which I posted about earlier in the week) a new batch of Special Offers, more permanent price reductions and of course all that sparkly, shiny, new content that keeps you coming back for more (or is it my magnetic personality?).

I’m pleased to say we have available the pre-order for the forthcoming Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse series of episodes. Until the launch of the first episode you can pre-order the bundle at a lower price, and then once the episodes are released (one each month) you can download them directly from the store. If you haven’t enjoyed any of the previous titles featuring this great team, then prepare for some serious fun; and it’s not much longer to wait until the first episode is upon us.

This week you’re also going to be able to take another trip into the world of Heavy Rain, with a new scene featuring Madison (some of you may recognise this as the scene that was used to demo the game at Leipzig 2008).

It goes without saying this is all served up with lots more great content, which is all handily listed below.

If I don’t get the chance to talk to you directly in the comments this week, have an awesome Easter, and see you on the flipside.

Thanks, you too! :D

SAM & MAX!! SAM & MAX!! SAM & MAX!! I know it’s only a pre-order but SAM & MAX!! SAM & MAX!! SAM &………………

I know, I know – I’m SO excited myself

inb4 FW3.21 BAAAAAAAWWWW’ing.

Not a lot for me in this update :(

Reckon you can get us Chrono Cross, Mike? :D

Where is the re-customization ticket for white knight chronicles???

Spartan-spur 01 April, 2010 @ 09:11

Awesome work with the PSP favourites promotion. Will be picking a few of them up other the next few days.

I saw an article online about FFIX potentially coming to PSN the other day. Looking forward to that Mike? :P

April Fools to you as well Mike :p

Nice update :)

DANTHEMAN121 01 April, 2010 @ 09:11

EPIC store update cannot wait for this one

namco! yay! hang on. i just got that off the na store! doe!!!

This update would actually make me happier if we were offered a FREE game, or 2, for having linux being taken away from us at least. Unfortunately we are being offered nothing in return for what I paid for.

No it is not the ONLY REASON I bought my ps3 for but it is ONE OF THEM. I would like to keep what I paid for, and if not, at least have some loyalty shown to me for once. I’ve spent TONNES on PSN, it’s time Sony show me loyalty.

Still no Ridge Racer or Ridge Racer 2 for my PSP Go, I really don’t understand why it’s not up. However the specials can put my mind off that fact for another week. +1

with pain in my heart ;) I have to say that except pre-order of Sam & Max, I do not see anything attractive for me, PS3 player…

Marrsterhausen 01 April, 2010 @ 09:17

Up early today Mike!? ;-) Nice updates & price drops.Have a nice weekend.

Yeah, coffee drip was inserted extra early this morning ;)

nice and early Mikeface I LIKE IT!! :D

thanks for working hard to get us these awesome deals, lots of us appreciate it :)

have a great Easter bud

Cheers fella, have a great Easter yourself (and that sentiment goes to everybody reading the comments this week) :D

steven_dutch 01 April, 2010 @ 09:18

Nice big update, posted early as well.
Will the Namco Museum feature the home unlockables?

Thanks for Sam&Max, but which languages will be supported (as subtitles of course)?

Do you have any info yet on the Euro pricing of the Sam $ Max Episodes when you don’t preorder/buy the bundle? It would be nice to know how much/little you can save by preordering.

I know what it will be, but not sure if I can share this yet, so to be safe I won’t say anything ;)

Zorin_Burittsu 01 April, 2010 @ 09:19

too good to be true!!!

No, no – it’s all good, and perfectly true :P

A Warhawk dynamic theme??!?!?!?!?

Have a great easter Mike, appreciate the efforts you put in for the PSP discounts.

Thanks! I made a promise to myself to ensure we did something really special for our PSP owners, and I think we delivered with this promotion ;)

Nothing for me sadly thanks to firmware 3.21 i’m no longer be able to get anything from the store.

Sony don’t care about their costumer, all that Sony cares is about get or money the rest is not their problem.

Wow nice update Mike :)
At least one PSP game is bought today :D!
Do you know anything about more Dynasty Warrior Strikeforce DLC’s for PS3?
Have a great easter Mike

I’ve taken the following information from the store description oif the DLC :)

Hope this helps:

The following quests will be added to the city’s ‘Noticeboard’ (in addition to previous content).

Defense of Yi
Liu Bei of Shu has attacked the area in order to secure a main base. Assist the governor of Yi, Liu Zhang, and defeat the Shu forces.

Battle of Tong Gate
Assist the Wei army in its fight against Ma Chao, who has assembled a large force at Xi Liang. Han Sui, who is serving under Ma Chao, and Cao Cao are old acquaintances. Use this to gain victory.

Martial Contest 3
A contest to determine the strongest warrior in the Three Kingdoms. Defeat the four men of valor, Xiahou Dun, Guan Yu, Lu Meng and Sun Jian.

Carnivius_Prime 01 April, 2010 @ 09:32

dang blast it. I was told Namco Museum Essentials was never coming out on the Europe store so I bought it on the US one a couple months ago. Does the Eu version work in our Home ok then? meaning do the arcade machines actually play cos the US ones don’t work on the EU home. If this one is fully compatible with my Eu Home then I might have to buy it again. Maybe you should gimme that for free as you took my linux away hmmm hmmmm? ah go on.

How much would Sam & Max work out if you don’t pre-order? I feel a bit uneasy pre-ordering downloadable games you can’t resell if you don’t like them. Sure I enjoyed the original game all them years ago but I dunno.

Gey. Have a great Easter!! Was waiting for Outrun price reduction for quite some time:) Is this true that starting 5th May Store will be updated on Wednesday??

Boooo! I’m not getting anything until the High Stakes Poker add-on arrives!(any news yet btw)…. well, maybe i’ll just get Namco Museum Essentials this week….. ummm, and the Dragon Age freebies… Oh! Rock Band Hendrix! I’m ‘avin those….. hmmm and a Football Manager Handheld 2010 bargain too.

Damn fine update guys, damn fine.

Thx for reply Mike :)

No worries (even if you are on the side of Raven, boo-hiss, SVER all the way buddy) ;)

Really like the way you set out this weeks list with the bold titles, really nice and easy to read.

CodeMonkey_UK 01 April, 2010 @ 09:36

Best update in a while (for PS3 users it’s been very barren lately).

Sam and Max preorder and Heavy Rain DLC, been looking forward to these two. It would be nice to know how much we save on Sam and Max preorder though.

I’m presuming it’s a couple of quid, right?

Awesome update :)
Today’s gonna be an expensive today for me lol

Have a good Easter, Mike :D

I’m pretty sure Sony almost halving the price of its best selling PSP games should be enough ‘loyalty.’

Great update, I guess I’ll have to say good bye to my money.

StefNighthawk 01 April, 2010 @ 09:41

Any news about “Half Minute Hero” for Belgium/Netherlands.

I can’t even seem to find an UMD copy in our local gamestore.

Blood_God_UK 01 April, 2010 @ 09:42

will we get section 8 or Anarchy: Rush Hour any time this month, other then that update is spot on, thinkin of gettin Namco Museum or the Sam and Max pre-order.

funnydude6556 01 April, 2010 @ 09:44

why is it I always imagine Mike looking like that guy from friends with the same name? I know not all people called Mike look like that but I can’t get that image out of my head!

I’m getting a £20 PSN card for easter soon and I might buy myself another so I can afford a PSP Game, the heavy rain DLC, Sam and Max and some Home content.

Hehe. I’d be happy to look like that guy (Paul Rudd), I think the girlfriend has a slight crush on him, so I’m sure she’d be happy too ;)

@ 31 Sorry, but not good enough. Me and my partner are students, are not made of money, we have a laptop and the ps3 between us. We both attend uni. we used the ps3 for word processing for assignments and other needs. It was NOT useless to us. I couldn’t give 2 tosses about not many others using it.

I dont see how discounts and me handing even more money over to sony is any constillation over this Other OS fiasco.

nice update and nice and early thanks, have a good easter.

what a rubbish update – doesn’t matter though, as I won’t be able to access the store after today anyway – screw you sony, and your illeagl removal of Other OS functions.

Hey are we gonna get God of War 3 avatars cause ive been using the same avatar since the PS3 launched here in the UK lol just wondering

Williams Pinball still not on store…few weeks I will play Pinball Heroes, but then I want Williams Pinball :-D. OK Mike?

“Illegal removal”? Did you even BOTHER to read the EULA? Jesus Christ.

So what is the Hammer Wars minis?

That makes 4 minis that I haven’t seen any screenshots of before release?

EULA’s are NOT binding in all cases as they would otherwise be giving up consumer rights allotted by law

Cool. Sam and Max is a must have and I only hope I have some money left.

My post of 43 was directed @ 41

Yet ANOTHER update with nothing of interest. I’ve had 17 euros on my PSN account for almost two months now! What is it with Sony Europe’s painfully slow service? I’m slowly losing my faith..

Still, any word on 1) PSone Classic Grandia and 2) Hamsterball, which according to TikGames’ Howard Lehr has already gotten a PEGI Rating (+7)? The usual excuse for the delay is the rating process, but since that’s already done with, why is it still absent from our Store?

Hamsterball is coming, for some reason they released in the US before us (for once, every other title has released in the EU first).

SolidNinjaSnake 01 April, 2010 @ 09:57

Woah woah woah, SVR10 has had a permanant price reduction? So that’ll now mean SVR09 is more than it? I really don’t get what’s happening here. XD

Terrible update, made even more shocking by the removal of OtherOS.

Sorry but I disagree, this is far from a terrible store update, but of course you’re entitled to your opinion ;)

Good looking update, but what is Hammer Wars?

They aren’t violating your rights though, just protecting themselves from piracy.

If you want to keep linux, fine, don’t update, but to say it’s illegal? BS.
