‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (1st April 2010)

Good morning all (not often I’m posting before lunch), today the store will be up nice and early, because we’re lovely folks like that :)

Lovely folks that bring you the PSP Favourites promotion (which I posted about earlier in the week) a new batch of Special Offers, more permanent price reductions and of course all that sparkly, shiny, new content that keeps you coming back for more (or is it my magnetic personality?).

I’m pleased to say we have available the pre-order for the forthcoming Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse series of episodes. Until the launch of the first episode you can pre-order the bundle at a lower price, and then once the episodes are released (one each month) you can download them directly from the store. If you haven’t enjoyed any of the previous titles featuring this great team, then prepare for some serious fun; and it’s not much longer to wait until the first episode is upon us.

This week you’re also going to be able to take another trip into the world of Heavy Rain, with a new scene featuring Madison (some of you may recognise this as the scene that was used to demo the game at Leipzig 2008).

It goes without saying this is all served up with lots more great content, which is all handily listed below.

If I don’t get the chance to talk to you directly in the comments this week, have an awesome Easter, and see you on the flipside.

Fantastic update, thansk for all the psp offers

Thanks, more great PSP stuff, especially combined with the special offers! Have a relaxing Easter!

Thanks, you too! :D

SAM & MAX!! SAM & MAX!! SAM & MAX!! I know it’s only a pre-order but SAM & MAX!! SAM & MAX!! SAM &………………

I know, I know – I’m SO excited myself

inb4 FW3.21 BAAAAAAAWWWW’ing.

Not a lot for me in this update :(

Reckon you can get us Chrono Cross, Mike? :D

Where is the re-customization ticket for white knight chronicles???

Spartan-spur 01 April, 2010 @ 09:11

Awesome work with the PSP favourites promotion. Will be picking a few of them up other the next few days.

I saw an article online about FFIX potentially coming to PSN the other day. Looking forward to that Mike? :P

April Fools to you as well Mike :p

Nice update :)

DANTHEMAN121 01 April, 2010 @ 09:11

EPIC store update cannot wait for this one

namco! yay! hang on. i just got that off the na store! doe!!!

This update would actually make me happier if we were offered a FREE game, or 2, for having linux being taken away from us at least. Unfortunately we are being offered nothing in return for what I paid for.

No it is not the ONLY REASON I bought my ps3 for but it is ONE OF THEM. I would like to keep what I paid for, and if not, at least have some loyalty shown to me for once. I’ve spent TONNES on PSN, it’s time Sony show me loyalty.

Still no Ridge Racer or Ridge Racer 2 for my PSP Go, I really don’t understand why it’s not up. However the specials can put my mind off that fact for another week. +1

with pain in my heart ;) I have to say that except pre-order of Sam & Max, I do not see anything attractive for me, PS3 player…

Marrsterhausen 01 April, 2010 @ 09:17

Up early today Mike!? ;-) Nice updates & price drops.Have a nice weekend.

Yeah, coffee drip was inserted extra early this morning ;)

nice and early Mikeface I LIKE IT!! :D

thanks for working hard to get us these awesome deals, lots of us appreciate it :)

have a great Easter bud

Cheers fella, have a great Easter yourself (and that sentiment goes to everybody reading the comments this week) :D

steven_dutch 01 April, 2010 @ 09:18

Nice big update, posted early as well.
Will the Namco Museum feature the home unlockables?

Thanks for Sam&Max, but which languages will be supported (as subtitles of course)?

Do you have any info yet on the Euro pricing of the Sam $ Max Episodes when you don’t preorder/buy the bundle? It would be nice to know how much/little you can save by preordering.

I know what it will be, but not sure if I can share this yet, so to be safe I won’t say anything ;)

Zorin_Burittsu 01 April, 2010 @ 09:19

too good to be true!!!

No, no – it’s all good, and perfectly true :P

A Warhawk dynamic theme??!?!?!?!?

Have a great easter Mike, appreciate the efforts you put in for the PSP discounts.

Thanks! I made a promise to myself to ensure we did something really special for our PSP owners, and I think we delivered with this promotion ;)

Nothing for me sadly thanks to firmware 3.21 i’m no longer be able to get anything from the store.

Sony don’t care about their costumer, all that Sony cares is about get or money the rest is not their problem.

Wow nice update Mike :)
At least one PSP game is bought today :D!
Do you know anything about more Dynasty Warrior Strikeforce DLC’s for PS3?
Have a great easter Mike

I’ve taken the following information from the store description oif the DLC :)

Hope this helps:

The following quests will be added to the city’s ‘Noticeboard’ (in addition to previous content).

Defense of Yi
Liu Bei of Shu has attacked the area in order to secure a main base. Assist the governor of Yi, Liu Zhang, and defeat the Shu forces.

Battle of Tong Gate
Assist the Wei army in its fight against Ma Chao, who has assembled a large force at Xi Liang. Han Sui, who is serving under Ma Chao, and Cao Cao are old acquaintances. Use this to gain victory.

Martial Contest 3
A contest to determine the strongest warrior in the Three Kingdoms. Defeat the four men of valor, Xiahou Dun, Guan Yu, Lu Meng and Sun Jian.

Carnivius_Prime 01 April, 2010 @ 09:32

dang blast it. I was told Namco Museum Essentials was never coming out on the Europe store so I bought it on the US one a couple months ago. Does the Eu version work in our Home ok then? meaning do the arcade machines actually play cos the US ones don’t work on the EU home. If this one is fully compatible with my Eu Home then I might have to buy it again. Maybe you should gimme that for free as you took my linux away hmmm hmmmm? ah go on.

How much would Sam & Max work out if you don’t pre-order? I feel a bit uneasy pre-ordering downloadable games you can’t resell if you don’t like them. Sure I enjoyed the original game all them years ago but I dunno.

Gey. Have a great Easter!! Was waiting for Outrun price reduction for quite some time:) Is this true that starting 5th May Store will be updated on Wednesday??

Boooo! I’m not getting anything until the High Stakes Poker add-on arrives!(any news yet btw)…. well, maybe i’ll just get Namco Museum Essentials this week….. ummm, and the Dragon Age freebies… Oh! Rock Band Hendrix! I’m ‘avin those….. hmmm and a Football Manager Handheld 2010 bargain too.

Damn fine update guys, damn fine.

Thx for reply Mike :)

No worries (even if you are on the side of Raven, boo-hiss, SVER all the way buddy) ;)

Really like the way you set out this weeks list with the bold titles, really nice and easy to read.

CodeMonkey_UK 01 April, 2010 @ 09:36

Best update in a while (for PS3 users it’s been very barren lately).

Sam and Max preorder and Heavy Rain DLC, been looking forward to these two. It would be nice to know how much we save on Sam and Max preorder though.

I’m presuming it’s a couple of quid, right?

Awesome update :)
Today’s gonna be an expensive today for me lol

Have a good Easter, Mike :D

I’m pretty sure Sony almost halving the price of its best selling PSP games should be enough ‘loyalty.’

Great update, I guess I’ll have to say good bye to my money.

StefNighthawk 01 April, 2010 @ 09:41

Any news about “Half Minute Hero” for Belgium/Netherlands.

I can’t even seem to find an UMD copy in our local gamestore.

Blood_God_UK 01 April, 2010 @ 09:42

will we get section 8 or Anarchy: Rush Hour any time this month, other then that update is spot on, thinkin of gettin Namco Museum or the Sam and Max pre-order.

funnydude6556 01 April, 2010 @ 09:44

why is it I always imagine Mike looking like that guy from friends with the same name? I know not all people called Mike look like that but I can’t get that image out of my head!

I’m getting a £20 PSN card for easter soon and I might buy myself another so I can afford a PSP Game, the heavy rain DLC, Sam and Max and some Home content.

Hehe. I’d be happy to look like that guy (Paul Rudd), I think the girlfriend has a slight crush on him, so I’m sure she’d be happy too ;)

@ 31 Sorry, but not good enough. Me and my partner are students, are not made of money, we have a laptop and the ps3 between us. We both attend uni. we used the ps3 for word processing for assignments and other needs. It was NOT useless to us. I couldn’t give 2 tosses about not many others using it.

I dont see how discounts and me handing even more money over to sony is any constillation over this Other OS fiasco.

nice update and nice and early thanks, have a good easter.

what a rubbish update – doesn’t matter though, as I won’t be able to access the store after today anyway – screw you sony, and your illeagl removal of Other OS functions.

Hey are we gonna get God of War 3 avatars cause ive been using the same avatar since the PS3 launched here in the UK lol just wondering

Williams Pinball still not on store…few weeks I will play Pinball Heroes, but then I want Williams Pinball :-D. OK Mike?

“Illegal removal”? Did you even BOTHER to read the EULA? Jesus Christ.

So what is the Hammer Wars minis?

That makes 4 minis that I haven’t seen any screenshots of before release?

EULA’s are NOT binding in all cases as they would otherwise be giving up consumer rights allotted by law

Cool. Sam and Max is a must have and I only hope I have some money left.

My post of 43 was directed @ 41

Yet ANOTHER update with nothing of interest. I’ve had 17 euros on my PSN account for almost two months now! What is it with Sony Europe’s painfully slow service? I’m slowly losing my faith..

Still, any word on 1) PSone Classic Grandia and 2) Hamsterball, which according to TikGames’ Howard Lehr has already gotten a PEGI Rating (+7)? The usual excuse for the delay is the rating process, but since that’s already done with, why is it still absent from our Store?

Hamsterball is coming, for some reason they released in the US before us (for once, every other title has released in the EU first).

SolidNinjaSnake 01 April, 2010 @ 09:57

Woah woah woah, SVR10 has had a permanant price reduction? So that’ll now mean SVR09 is more than it? I really don’t get what’s happening here. XD

Terrible update, made even more shocking by the removal of OtherOS.

Sorry but I disagree, this is far from a terrible store update, but of course you’re entitled to your opinion ;)

Good looking update, but what is Hammer Wars?

They aren’t violating your rights though, just protecting themselves from piracy.

If you want to keep linux, fine, don’t update, but to say it’s illegal? BS.

Aprils 1st?

Awesome update!

When will the store be up Mike?

Can those moaning about linux at least keep it to the firmware update thread? My little violin cannot keep up.

@50 In Australia it actually IS excuse me.

They sold a product with an advertised feature. They have no removed that feature. That is illegal under Australian law.

Frontmast3106 01 April, 2010 @ 10:08

All this PSP stuff!…time for me to get a PSP I think. :)

They advertised it? Erm, no they didn’t?

Point out one single case of actual advertising of the feature and you are excused.

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 10:09

Gotta join in with the “moaners” here, From my understanding of directive 1999/44/EC Sony have broken consumer law here in the UK and should be held accountable.

I hold out little faith that Mike will reply to this but are we going to see *any* new PS One titles in the store soon? I appreciate the odds of seeing anything that actually appeals are remote but some new titles would be nice.

You had me at Warhawk dynamic theme!

@mike you not getting a so-so update from me today it’s a good update.

i never think we see the day that when linux died, Namco arise in it’s place so i be getting that & HR-DLC. :)

maybe 2weeks getting S&M it good to see we getting pre-orders will it be for other titles, im sure it be popular.

but it would be even great update if ps1 classics has come today. but no how many weeks now. :p

& lastly have a happy Fool’s day & a happy easter to ALL. :)

Nice update! Maybe I’ll grab one of those games!

@50 – just because you’re not affected?

It is standard ‘bait and switch’ tactics – I bought a ps3 with the ability to install and use Linux – now sony have effecitvely stolen my Linux machine.

screw you sony.

@56 Sony only trumpeted it loudly at launch/prelaunch, at keynotes quite often. You know small mentions… /sarcasm

It’s also worth mentioning that they were almost going to have linux preinstalled. Certain models of the ps2 could have linux aswell. linux has been a very big part of the ps3. It was NEVER hardly mentioned or not advertised as you have tried to imply.

Sure. Sony Make that price reduction to try to go away from the fiasco with “Others OS”. That form my point of view is not called “LOYALTY” is called “BRIBERY”

Hi Mike. Can you confirm if DOA PAradise is coming to PSN. it’s out at retail tomorrow after all.

Re: namco Museum essentials.
Does that mean we will be getting the space for Home anytime soon or will we be waiting 9 months for the space to appear for Home?
Ghostbusters personal space, wow I’m almost glad I’m off work sick today.

Desperate_Gamer 01 April, 2010 @ 10:16

Thanks for the very early update :D Couldn’t wait to buy Chinatown Wars with such a price. I will probably buy more discounted PSP Games after the holidays, after making sure that I’ve got some money left.

I’m really happy with promotional discounts like this. It shows that we are interested in digital distribution and we will support it if the price is right. Congrats to Sony for giving us the chance for some quality gaming (there are the best games on PSP right now) at low prices.

Is that TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled a PSP Game or the HD remake on PS3? I will probably buy that too at such a great price out of nostalgia.

I would also like to say that I’d really like Silent Hill Shattered Memories on the EU store. Please Mike do something!

What’s all this talk of Wednesday updates?

Can it be true? Is the man that single handedly* banished Anti-Climax Thursday to the rubbish bin of history, really moving to Wednesday’s?

* obviously by saying “single handedly”, I also acknowledge that Ross might have helped a bit as well… with the kettle ;-)

Hey Mike, Do you know if theres any chance of a demo for 3d dot game heroes?

Haha, that’s what I thought.

I know they have talked about it, but they have hardly made a big deal about it.

Compared to other features, Linux has only been muttered. and merely talking at keynotes ISN’T advertising, no laws were broken.

Pretty weak update. Today the ps3 is getting more sutff removed than added. What is so great about that?

@70 it wasn’t just at keynotes excuse me. Those events are quite important aswell. I gave your freaking example. now it’s suddenly not good enough?

Btw by your dodgy logic, all press releases aren’t advertising, which there have been linux based press releases for the ps3 outlining it and “advertising” it.

@70 – stop being a sony shill.

It’s written on the side of the box my ps3 came in, and also in the manual – now run along little man.

In fact DOA Paradise is out at retail TODAY. I thought all games got simultaneous release now?

If this is not advertise tell me. What is?

Note: This is a SONY website

Bandicoot1980 01 April, 2010 @ 10:22

Hey Mike,

Nice update, but anycahnce of the Singstar update from last week ?

Okay update! Some DLC for me…

To many new blu ray games to care about the PSN update…
Just Cause 2, White Knight Chronicles, Yakuza 3, Final Fantasy XIII and more.

good grief. Namco Museum? Sam and Max? i think i’m in love… with this update!

good for go owners

Bad for PS3 owners :(

Might DL the warhawk theme tho!

mike anything about the White knight chronicles theme? and the flower OST?

Please dood!

@56 & 75 lol nice catch and pwned.

I especially like this part.
There is more to the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system than you may have assumed.

Advertising much?

Carnivius_Prime 01 April, 2010 @ 10:29

Looks like I’m broke anyways after coming up with an alternative to using my PS3 as a decent little computer. Nothing on Blu Ray I want though except Heavy Rain (finished God of War 3 already and there’s been absolutely nothing else of interest to me released this year so far) and nothing I really want all that much on the store after all. Looks like I’ll just be playing Uncharted 2 multiplayer as usual.

TehPhilosopher 01 April, 2010 @ 10:30

I’m not going to be spending any money on PS3 anymore due to the firmware downgrade today which takes away an advertised feature on MY console. I was expecting to spend 1,000+ EUR this year on games and peripherals (Move), but thanks to Sony’s actions I will stop spending any more money on anything made by Sony.

My next gen console will be Xbox720, OnLive, or a PC.

Solid, really solid PSP update! Thank you very much and have a great Easter!

One of the best updates ever Mike, if only because if all the great price cuts on PSP stuff. I held out on buying GTA: Chinatown Wars but I’ll bite at that offer price. Have a great Easter everyone. :D

those reductions for the psp should be the prices for all games, new or old. Merry april fool’s day though!! :D

great up date nice work – taxidermist is a must have!

Thanks Mike, but it looks like I can’t access Store after fw 3.21 upade goes live, as I need to use Linux in my PS3. I also would like to use Store too, as I have heard that FF IX is going to hit Store sooner or later. (Plus tons of other nice stuff and play online games, specially M.A.G.) :(

It is rather sad that Sony didn’t bother to check European consumer laws before announcing 3.21 as removing OtherOS-option really does break several of those laws.

I still keep hoping fw 3.21 is april fools joke tho… Sigh…

hey mike. jus gotta say GREAT update.

first thing i gotta ask is, the sam and max pre-order is a MUST for me. but its my birthday next week and i know im due a couple psn vouchers so was gonna get it next week. that plenty of time before the games out to pre-order?

also any news about the resident evil ps1 games coming to store?

and how did u find time for this huge update?

and any chance of an update allowing us to use trophy icons as out avatars? :P

ps. we need a mega drive setion on store with emulated games. wud kick as.

You’ll have at least two weeks to grab the pre-order ;)

I’m going to jump on the moaning about the removal of Other OS bandwagon too.

Whilst I didn’t really use Linux on my PS3 all that much, I did end up buying a USB keyboard & mouse for that use, which are now redundant.

Yes, I know I can sell them on (at a loss), or keep them for no good reason, but that’s not the point.

I feel that it would be appropriate for Sony to compensate PS3 users in some way for the removal of a feature which may have been a factor in them buying a PS3 in the first place.

I like it (update), but this is to early for me!! :D

I will get the pre-order. Nice to see that even that is possible trough the store!

Happy easter, do not drown in the chocolate…

Where is the great update people is talking about? Did I miss something? I can only see PSP things to buy, almost anything to PS3, oh wait, they removed a functionality, amazing update in fact… not! Let’s see if this move is in fact illegal, if it is I will, probably, return my PS3 for a full refund.

StefNighthawk 01 April, 2010 @ 10:44

Hmmm, my local gamestore has “Half Minute Hero” listed for release on 16th april. Wonder if it will also be released on the Belgian PSN store.

Next time finish please.
There is more to the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system than you may have assumed. In addition to playing games, watching movies, listening to music, and viewing photos, YOU CAN USE THE PS3™ SYSTEM TO RUN THE LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM.

And by the way in which century are you. Advertise is not fix a flyer on the wall or on TV. Theres loads of other ways to advertise. And the website from Sony is one of them.

Ah nuts. No access to PSN or the store anymore.

Just lost a customer, Mike

@93. I just cherry picking my favourite sentence out of it that’s all? What are you going on about, have you actually been reading my posts? I KNOW it’s advertising. I liked it as it encapsulated the very idea that Sony have been trying to push all along, the ps3 is more than just a games console. it can do linux, it can do bluray, it can do media streaming, etc etc.

Think before you blast, your targeting the wrong man here. I’m on your side.

@70: Phil Harrison described it as one of the most powerful features of the PS3. That’s hardly muttering. And yes, it *is* illegal under EU and UK law.

Of course, most of the greatness in this update is for the PSP, and there’s no need to do a firmware update to access that – either download it directly on the PSP or use the PC version of the store to download and sync to the PSP.

@mike i forgot to say congrats to your EX-scee boss david reeves for getting TOP JOB of cRapcom ceo, maybe now we will get our capcom ps1 classics, as they said “we want to expand our market etc to europe”.

the old saying, “let them come to you, Not you come to them”.

oh the irony. :D

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 10:53

lol, that was like watching a train crash. Wonder hom many posts are going to be hijacked by those who are annoyed at Sony’s arrogant approach to consumer rights

when do the ne cod maps arive in the store ???

funnydude6556 01 April, 2010 @ 10:58

@54 yeah but australian law also bans any game with a rating over 15+ so I think it’s fair to assume some of the laws in australia are stupid.

This isn’t false advertising as the Terms and Conditions are obviously going to be changed and there’s a very good reason to get rid of it, sony would lose a lot of money in the PSN Store from hackers and that would mean guess what?

CRAPPIER UPDATES! Seeing as your not even pleased by the state of the updates at the moment I’ll say this is a good thing.

Nice update, but again no Penny Arcade Adventures for Russia WTH? :(

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 11:04

This is going to lead to Sony losing money anyways, developers who were legitimately using the PS3 linux option will now be looking for ways to hack the system more now than ever. This is Sony pretty much throwing down the gauntlet to groups like Geohack.

It’s a pity as nothing was broken before, games were still secure. And now everyones jumping on the Sony fanboy bandwagon of crying about security.

glad you got rid of that useless feature linux anywho i will be checking out the warhazk dynamic theme hope its as good as it sounds

also i had an idea for a dynamic theme you could have like a cartoon kratos doing is thing that way it would look amazing as well as being awesome (thinking of like the intro at the beggining of gos of war 3 style cartoon) would be awesome

oh and it would be great if you had competitions on designing a dynamic theme then you guys make it and put it on the store for free like you did on rag doll kung fu!

I’m not blasting at you and I know in which side you are.
I read every post, not just your posts.
May I just get carried away, that’s it.
But the full sentence makes better sense.

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 11:07

You’re glad that they’ve violated your rights? If you weren’t using the linux feature then it’s done nothing for you. So you shouldn’t be glad or disappointed at the actual loss. Although you should be angry at the precident, if Geohotz/Geohackz designs a method of breaking the security using the Blu-Ray player would you want them to remove that?

meeh… i updated and now i see i have money for a slim so i could’ve kept 3.20 on my phat and run linux on it :(

Some people have managed to get access to a new Gran Turismo 5 demo, will that be out on the playstation store?

thanks in advance

@100 guess what? The idiot responsible for the banning of games and no R rating is gone. So that issue is dead in the water.

@93 Fair enough I understand now, I just thought for the sake of length I’d take that bit haha.

I’d also like to ask if there’s any date on Section 8 coming out on our store? Will it at least be this month?

It’s on the horizon and won’t be too much longer now.

Get in! Namco Museum Essentials. Been waiting for that.

No Anarchy: Rush Hour ? :-(

why aren’t there movie trailers anymore? they where always great :)

Alcest-Wizard 01 April, 2010 @ 11:18

Do you know if Half-Minute Hero will be available on Spanish store? I really want to play that game.

Btw, great update ;)

the only rhing worth about this date are the special overs why the hell aren’t we getting any ps1 classics we aren’t even getting any ps1 classic most are old crap nobody wants 2 play are you guys even trying 2 get ps1 games 2 the europe store and why the hell aren’t there any new psp games worth buying

i was wondering considering we still don’t have any ATLUS games i expect that persona 3 portable will not even come 2 our store why the hell did sony release the [Deleted] psp go then it’s only a piece of crap in europe

This just prove once again that SONY real don’t care about their customers. I have to say that I admire George Hotz, is just one kid and SONY was plenty of technician. Technician that get paid with or money and what they have done, nothing. George Hotz found an exploit, that let you access to the RAM of the PS3. Not that you can play pirated games with that exploit, but all that SONY can do is remove Linux. I have to say SONY you real need to employee better and smart technicians.

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 11:21

Do you have an opinion on the “other os” issue? I know it’s not your department however I read that many of the developers for PS3 games (esp smaller PSstore games) initially used Linux/PS3 to test out the graphics.

Or have you been ordered to remain silent on this?

I haven’t been ordered to remain silent on it, but it’s not appropriate for me to involve myself.

@100 Until you can actually come up with a valid reason why the removal of an advertised feature doesn’t fall foul of the sale of goods act and EU Directive 1999/44/EC perhaps you shouldn’t be commenting on whether it’s legal?

i so agree with you sony isen’t listening 2 us cause they don’t care they want our money they would like us 2 shut the F up and just send them money for all the crap they give us

*Namco Museum Essentials* :P SWEET! ! ! :)

Outrun Arcade Online looks interesting. However I’m forced to be offline because I won’t give up my Linux.

ProphetOfRage 01 April, 2010 @ 11:30

I really hope this update and the prices quoted are an April fools joke.

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 11:31

Fair enough Mike, I can respect that and I don’t envy you and some of the other contributors on here right now. Can’t see this dying down any time soon

it’s clearly your magnetic personality ;) Thanks for the update.

Clearly :P

patriot36954 01 April, 2010 @ 11:33

So the PSP gets two sets of special offers most of the price reductions, i feel neglected as a ps3 owner :(

PSP owners have been asking for some extra love for a while now, so it’s their chance to feel loved. PS3 owners have it pretty good most of the time right?

@Mike: Classy and diplomatic response, though we’d expect nothing less. ;)

Shucks, thanks Mr. poopy-pants (sorry couldn’t resist) :P

wont let me update mike i keep losing connection i got to 57% then it lost connection so i tried again it restarted from 1 % then it lost connection again now it wont even start little help here?

Yeah Mike you and the moderators, you are all top guys and girls. on my points scale your all still 100. It’s only only Sony “the man” who is -20 right now. they managed to get that point reading in 4 days. I’ve been a ardent follower ever since my grey beauty.

johndrinkwater 01 April, 2010 @ 11:38

[Deleted], I want to pre-order Sam & Max (owned the original PC game since the day it launched…), and get Chinatown Wars, but no, standing firm on the firmware update sans OtherOS issue.
I think i’ll just game offline *and* [Deleted] moan to Sony.

Please Mike, pass on my annoyances upwards.

Well sorry Mike, I will never be able to buy more things from you. :(
I refuse to update my console… Have a good april fool Mike

YES! Sam and Max pre-order! I love you! And nice PSP offers.

So when is the actual update?
I’m waiting for The Taxidermist DLC but it’s still not up.

It’s en route, not long now

Great update for PSPgo owners.:)

Now all we need is FFVII:Crisis Core on the store. Any news Mike?

Quality update Mike, thanks a lot.

Hardly anybody uses the linux on the PS3 anyway.

i gotta add this. i bought and installed Linux (YDL) on my PS3, bought a mouse and KB too. it was so poorly supported that i formatted my HDD about 4 mnths ago and haven’t used it since.
i appreciate why people are [Deleted] off, but i can’t believe that anything will come of this and if any one wants to pursue a legal battle with Sony then i’ll be watching with baited breath. if you jsut wanna bitch about it on an unrelated thread then you can go jump. action, not words, my friends.
to finish off, if some spoilt a-hole didn’t spend his time trying to hack the PS3 (for what reason? you have to be pretty [Deleted] dumb to think that piracy will not be a primary use of the hack) then this wouldn’t even be a problem. piracy has practicallty crippled the PSP (that and poor 3rd party support lol [oh yeah, poor 3rd party support BERCAUSE OF PIRACY]), and if you prioritise your use of Linux over my use of my PS3 as a games/movie machine, then we havea conflict of interests and i’m siding w...

finally, this thread is not the place for it and Mike’s not the man to moan at. if you believe Sony have broken the law then take it to your solicitors.

Im not updateing my console either

seeing as sony think its cool to steal from me i think i’ll wait it out and see what Mr Hotz does, then maybe i’ll get my chance to steal off sony

you know, if your going to treat me like a potential thief i might as well act like one

“bad words go here”

mike when can we expect final fantasy 9? its being announced for japan this friday :P, next week? or a lot later lol

@136: As much as I’m angry at Sony for illegally crippling my hardware, there’s no call to advocate piracy.

I’m betting most people who have a PS3 also have a PC so why do you really need to put another OS on the PS3?

I have linux on my PC so I don’t see any reason why I would want to put it on the PS3

Iv paid for and own over 40 games, piracy isnt my cuppa tea either, but as iv said, If its ok for sony to steal from me, which they have by removeing a feature i paid for and wanted, then i shal not feel guilty for taking something back when i get the chance

Abe’s Oddysee anytime in the future?

Blimey i tell ya Mike and your team are out to bankrupt poor Del. I said to myself no more buying after i got a crapload of new PS3 games then the PSP promotion comes…Mike, i think you should tell Vodafone their bill is going to Chinatown Wars.

Thanks :p

Have a good easter everyone :D

Namco Museum Essentials, does this mean the PS Home space is coming soon too and the items now work in home?

I got the heavy rain DLC with collectors edition and found it to be short but good for something to do ;)

Also any word of a LBP PS3 bundle coming instead of buying them all separately?

Hey Mike, I know this is off topic but im wondering if you could do something for me :)

Could you as someone from the blog to do a blog post based on littlebigplanet every week, just like the sack it to me blog post which is up every week on the US Blog. I think it would be great seeing the new DLC packs and seeing the latest levels

Hi Mike,
what’s this thing about the free Dragon Age dlcs? I installed them already! Where they removed?

Akinokaze-FA 01 April, 2010 @ 12:09

Is there any update yet on when Castle Crashers will be available in the PSN store? Been playing it with a friend on his 360 and can’t wait till we get it as well.

Great update! I’m getting some PSP games for sure :)

But any news on some more true ps1 classics coming soon? (Resident Evil series, Symphony of the night etc.)

Good update this week.

Can you put in a request for Wild Arms 1 and 2 to be brought to the EU store. Cheers.

@139 I am a student and not made of money. Me and my partner between us have a laptop, and linux on the ps3. We used them both for our uni work and needed that as we needed to do work at the sametime. Now we only have 1 between us, and that is not a great situation with our 2 workloads. There were also a lot of other uses which the ps3 linux did.

Just because you didn’t understand why people would want linux on a ps3, doesn’t mean there arent any reasons whatsoever. so with all due respect, it’s really offensive all these (four letter word) people spouting just get a real computer bs.

Darkscorpius 01 April, 2010 @ 12:14

Hmmm, pretty sweet update, sure this isn’t a joke with it being the first and all Mike?

I’ll definitely getting the Heavy Rain & Dragon Age DLC, I’m also really tempted to get the three GTA games for my PSP.

NinetyNineNames 01 April, 2010 @ 12:18

When will the FIFA World Cup Game 2010 be on store for a demo?

I think the game release date is the 27th of this month.

Still no re-customization ticket for White Knight Chronicles.
Iam asking this dam question for 4 weeks now. No, answers yet.
It cant be that hard to put the ticket on the store. That item doesnt even have a 3D model…

Sorry, I haven’t given an answer because I have no information to share.

johnleonhart 01 April, 2010 @ 12:22

Thanks for another good update Mike, oh, I ended up getting the complete dlc for Burnout Paradise, you get all the cars, its sweet :D.

Hope you and the family have a good easter :)

No Anarchy: Rush Hour ???

So FW 3.21 was no April Fools?

I am disappoint. Having to choose between my YDL and PSN is a choice I don’t want to make.

Do I lose the 10 Gigs of space when I update? And will I need to format my hard drive again to get the 10 Gigs back? Because I don’t like losing Linux but I REALLY don’t like losing some of those non-back-up-able savegames.

This is one fine update Mr.Kebby.
Props to you and the store team.
The only question is, whether or not I can afford to purchase most of these great games released today, and those delicious price reductions for the PSP.

The only thing that could make this day more epic, is if you had some info on Silent Hill shattered memories, and Crisis Core.. *hint hint*

I don’t have any information regarding either of those titles I’m afraid.

A dynamic theme for Warhawk? What is this, why all the love for Warhawk and why so god damn late?! The game came out 3 years ago…

@139: The PS3 is connected to the big screen TV, which makes it better as a media player, and having access to a fully featured web browser on the TV is also kind of nice at times.

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 12:36

LMAO, the 3.21 patch has already been circumvented, you can now bypass the update and log onto the store :)

Hey Mike I hope you still reading these comments.

I have a serious concern with bundle packs.

I wanted to the buy the Street Fighter IV costume bundle while it was on sale for £4.79.

My problem is I bought the SFIV collector’s Edition which came with a code for just 1 costume pack (brawler pack).

Because I own this single piece of DLC I cannot buy the bundles, I know this is because Sony do not want people accidently buying twice but this is really punishing me and I am sure other people.

To buy the other 4 packs (5 total) will cost me over £13!!!

Please please please when you put these bundle packs on sale put the individual items on sale too. If you reduced the price down to £1 each the other 5 costume packs would have cost the same as the bundle in the sale.

Anyway to make this happen? I really want those costumes you you cannot expect me to pay near triple for them because i got one with my CE copy.

(This isn’t the only example of the bundles causing people to lose out…ironic...

You do indeed raise a good point, and it’s something for me to feedback to publishers when they want to reduce pricing for a complete bundle, the individual packs should be considered too.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Hiya Kebster,

Nice update. Free LBP stuff? Sweet.

Any idea when Castle Crashers is coming?

Great update Mike! Must’ve been those dumplings from yesterday ;)

OMG, i got outrun for the full price 2 days ago. Still possible to get it for the special offer?

Good update, do you know when Ridge Racer 1 and 2 are coming to the EU playstation store? I think Ridge Racer 1 is on the US store.

Namco is up, just search for it

mike, i got the first play beta yesturday and wasnt impressed every review i went on i got a advertisment , any word on if there are any in next weeks episode?

hey mike when are the MW2 maps out?

xbox already has them :(

Penny Arcade bundle not available in Russia? Why, we have both episodes in PSN store!

I’m looking into this now, and hopefully we’ll get this rectified sooner rather than later. Thanks for pointing this out ;)

i’ve got so many great games to play i won’t be updating my firmware straight away.

The 360 has timed exclusivity on MW2 map packs, you won’t see them for a long time.

the warhawk theme is live search for it and its free!

thanks for the free theme :P

Chicken we’ll be getting the MW2 maps exactly 1 month after the Xbox dood

rossthebassist 01 April, 2010 @ 13:24

Hey mike, been a while since i posted anything but with the egg season upon us i thought id say.
1, Happy Easter
2, Great Update, my psp go is pleased

3, and most importantly. Any update on the store layout getting a change to be more like the USA store layout, you know with Games, Demo’s, And Game Add On’s being truley seperated. Even if its just in the games menu itself, you know where we have minis PSone classics then our generes, even if the demo catagory was just put in there.

you once said, this kind of change cant happen over night. well its been a fair few nights now, and we would really appreciate an update on this front.

im not digging, but our layout is still the only thing (apart from psone content) that bugs me about my otherwise awsome EU store.

thanks in advanced Mike.

No update to mention on your third question I’m afraid.

Have a great Easter :)

So Mike. DOA Paradise release for PSN?

It’s coming…very soon :P

lol thanks for the free warhawk theme :)

Oldest_Ancient 01 April, 2010 @ 13:26

Great update Mike, Sam & Max, The Taxidermist and maybe Namco museum for me.

Any idea on either Sam & Max Save the world or Beyond Time and Space being released soon?

damn what a gr8 update but im skint so cant pre-order sam & max or get the dj hero dlc i think i can manage to get tmnt without the telling the misses

Already have 1st Heavy Rain’s DLC, so… time to pick some PSP games!
Little Big Planet and Gran Turismo, COME TO ME :D

Oh, wait, LBP’s Fragrance Costume it’s not an April Fool!?!?

Well download it and see what it does :P

I was wondering you could ask Jem if he could make this blog mobile phone aka Cell phone friendly because its a pain in the backside to read on the iPhone and also the US Blog is phone friendly…

thanks guys for the update

AaronSOLDIER 01 April, 2010 @ 13:37

Mike! Namco Museum Essentials well done! Been waiting on this one!

Any idea about a release for The Secret of Monkey Island yet? (the first one).

Great update, thanks again!

“What song is it you wanna hear?”

“Free Bird!”

Sweet :D Wish I played Roc Band now as the JHE pack looks awesome too

Tempted by Gunstar Heroes at that price, and I’ll have a look at Sam and Max but it’s a lot of money for a pre-order with no demos or reviews, I think I’ll hold off,

Just a shame Sony’s downgrade of consoles wasn’t an April Fools joke, another feature bites the dust,

“PS3 It just does a little bit less the longer it’s out”

People who are moaning at the Linux thing… GO CRY SOME MORE!

Good update mike, have a cracking Easter! *get the joke?*

I’m sorry that I can no longer buy things in ya store, Mike. I rather keep my Linux.

HarryTheHaddock 01 April, 2010 @ 13:43

When can we expect to see this update on the store?

Bah, it’s coming, it’s coming, just some teething problems today :(

TheHappyTurtle 01 April, 2010 @ 13:50

Pretty simple-minded of you there, we have a genuine complaint and Sony aren’t doing anything about it. So we have to resort to writing here and contacting the relevant authorities (Trading Standards here in the UK)

HarryTheHaddock 01 April, 2010 @ 13:50

Im sitting here with my decks set ready to drop some Jay Z V Eminem!

: D

why not make a fair trade we get cross-game chat and you guys can cut off linux and then everybody’s happy considering cross-game chat is more popular than linux

i was wondering are going 2 get any more psp games 2 the dutch store you can’t expect us 2 be happy with games that were in-store when the first psp launched

Permanent Price Reductions

* Inferno Pool (was – £6.29/€7.99 now – £2.39/€2.99

How long will this last? as Tv show king had a permanent price reduction to £5.49 now it’s gone bk up + £1 to £7.99

TV Show King should be permanent too, that’s my error there – rectifying it now.

And a really good update this week btw

Thanks mike and the ps store team :)

it’s funny that it’s april fools day considering our psn updates are a joke themselves.

Okay, I’ve had the feastday gifts and pranks for about 4 weeks now – why have they only just been released apparently? O_o

A lot of the new prices are already on there even if the full update isn’t done.

Store is fully updated now

rossthebassist 01 April, 2010 @ 14:05

so is that a no comment

I believe you’ll find I’ve commented now. Also I do have other things to do during my working day ;)

Very nice update Mike, keep up the good work.

Outrun Arcade Online
Gunstar Heroes
TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled
Inferno Pool

and I can´t buy em cause my PS3 won´t go online unless I won´t use OtherOS >.<

Not that my PS3 broke 4 times in 2009 (got it exchanged for free, but hat to wait 1month each for it to arrive…) but now they also begin to take features from me. What`s next guys, Geohot finds another bug in your system and you gonna delete that feature too? Til PS3 can´t do everything, PS3 can do nothing it will say beginning of 2011 in your TV Spots?

Finally a respectable price for Chinatown Wars and Tekken 6… wish I hadn’t paid the (ridiculous) full price for the latter.

ty 8)

Amherst_Wind_4 01 April, 2010 @ 14:28

You got me good Mike, making me think I’d have to pay for my Warhawk dynamic theme, then I see its free! I’m a fool but a happy fool! :)

BREE_jamesisace 01 April, 2010 @ 14:30

lol at the people moaning about linux being taken away :L Just install it on your pc runs faster anyway lolol

Cool store update =D

rossthebassist 01 April, 2010 @ 14:36

sorry mike, i didnt mean to sound nasty, i meant that no comment thing in a jokey way.

just you replied to threads after mine, generally that means no comment.

hope your not angry at me. :(

on a brighter note, heavy rain DLC, WOOOOOOOO

Haha, not at all buddy, not at all :D

When is DOA Paradise hitting the store?

Hi Mike,
Great Update! Thanks for the PSP offers, I recently got a PSP Go (like a week ago). I wanted to know about the Go Rewards because I applied for the PSP Go offers for some time ago and I haven’t got my code. I am getting a PSN card for easter, so I love this update. P.S. Have A Great Easter!

still waiting for Dead Nation, the guys are giving no new information about it, so i don’t know when to expect it.

I’m going to disconnect my PS3 until this gets sorted one way or another. Don’t want my girlfriend accidently updating to 3.21 (is that a countdown?). Really wish this wasn’t happening. Does any one know whether it’s just the install option which is being removed or will a pre-installed linux also disappear?

Why to go on the Chains of Olympus price reduction same I can’t download it for free as I already have it on UMD. I hope the DLC for GoW3 is as epic as the game itself.

I could be wrong but I believe it is being removed to prevent hacking so I would imagine that any current Linux installs will be unavailable

Hi Mike, any idea when we’ll be seeing The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition on the store?

@207, according to Sony as of today, OTHER OS DOES NOT EXIST. Whether you’ve installed it or not, doesn’t matter. The space you’ve used doesn’t even join the harddrive again, it just is lost, and sits there, like an obese giant in the corner.

Don’t mean to sound ungrateful but there’s nothing again (dont have PsP).I’m starting to get worried by the lack of demo’s since just cause 2.

I wanted to download the Heavy Rain DLC from the Dutch store, but it says in the description that it’ll only work with a BCES-00797 disc. I’ve bought my copy of Heavy Rain from a large Dutch retailer and my disc has a different code: BCES-00458. So Dutch retailers are selling the UK and EU version of Heavy Rain, but the DLC from the Dutch store is only compatible with the EU version?
