Digital Comics Store Update (25th August 2010)

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s very exciting store update! I don’t even know where to start.

Well, let’s begin anyway with a comic based on the acclaimed and hugely popular video-game Starcraft! And it’s even free! Yes. This sizzling sci-fi action comic, set just before the events of Starcraft II, follows the War Pigs, a disbanded team of shady outlaws reunited for one last mission … Follow this intriguing bunch of characters as they cross paths with zergs, special Cerebus units, protoss, and other familiar Starcraft characters … and events. You can read more about the comic and all the thinking that went behind it in this interview with writer Simon Furman. In the meantime, make sure you get your free copy while it lasts!

But that’s not all – if you’re more of a horror and infected towns kind of person, or if you simply happen to like Silent Hill … we have the perfect comic for you. All five issues of Silent Hill: Dying Inside are coming to PSN today. And it’s not just the setting that’s good – the comic itself was so popular that the first two issues sold out in record time, and it is completely justified: written by NY Times bestselling author Scott Ciencin, with art by Ben Templesmith (too many good comics to list – but Wormwood fans here know what I mean) and Aadi Salman, and a suitably chilling and gripping story to boot … it’s just as good as it sounds.

And because big cities look just as nice infected, join a group of outcasts fighting Coney Island’s zombie infestation in We Will Bury You #3. Awesome comic featuring zombies on fire and a very good audio piece by writers Brea and Zane Grant.

Also out in the store this week is a slice of vintage comic goodness with Journey Into Mystery (1952) #83 to #86. Issue #83 sees Stan Lee introduce the mighty Thor for the very first time; he has famously said that comic books were the mythology of modern days, and therefore set out to create this god-like new hero … Check out his vision here!

And finally you can also pick up issue #1 of new series Raising Amy, the adventures of a little girl with a very big attitude (you’ll see). Officially “born to be wild”, Amy is a bit of a terror but it’s safe for you readers – just sit back and laugh with this very funny comic strip.

Where did those 7 days go?
Bit colder temperatures, puting the temperature into a more comfortable area. (And finaly getting some decent sleap during the nights)

Ofcourse, I am not here to blog. ;) Just curious on the tree often asked questions:
Release in Scandinavia/rest of EU?
Comics reader for PS3
And Crossregion gifting?

(Joke)Ofcourse, I am begining to think that you are not releasing in Scandinavia to keep me here and smalltalk to you each week. (joke) ;)

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 15:50

No news sorry!

StefNighthawk 25 August, 2010 @ 15:03

Still no news about the comics store for Belgium?
At Gamescom we got the news that the MUBI service was getting a release in October THIS year.
So, comics store, before or after MUBI?

StefNighthawk 25 August, 2010 @ 15:06

About the Silent Hill : Dying Inside. Isn’t that the comic that’s on the Silent Hill Experience UMD?

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 15:51

Yes it is!

Will definitely pick up Silent Hill comics, Ben Templesmith is great

More Locke and Key or Fringe comics?

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 15:54

He is, we love his comics here.
No more Fringe right now, but you will see some more Locke & Key in the store soon…

I’m going to have to check out Silent Hill, anything by Mr Templesmith is sure to be awesome!

I’m liking all the content we are getting from Markosia at the minute so I’ll be checking out Raising Amy.

No Wildcats this week though? :( Will have to hold of reading the other Wildstorm Universe titles until we get the next issues of Wildcats so I can read them in proper order. The back up stories in them go Wildcats > The Authority > Gen13 > Stormwatch PHD

Any news of Locke & Key by the way Pete?

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 15:57

Exactly. :-)
And yes we do have new Wildcats in the store (Wildcats #3)- the end of the list above was cut-off by mistake, which will be fixed soon. Sorry!

And yep some Locke & Key on the way for you. Not long now. :-)

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 15:57

Wildcats *#7* sorry.

Whoops, I see it’s actually Pauline doing the blog post today! I’ll correct myself then.

Any news on Locke & Key by the way Pauline? :)

The picture for the story seem to include a new issue of Y: The Last Man, but it is not in the list?

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 15:59

It was missed off (to be corrected any minute), but we also have Wildcats #7, Y: The Last Man #4 and Wizards of Mickey II #2 out today.

I was hoping that during the Gamescon, the digital comics store for other countries (like France for me) will be announced, but sadly not…

Please, i can’t wait this store for France, you don’t want my money ?

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 16:00

We do – and wouldn’t it be great to see some BDs on PSP too?…
We’re on it.

Yeah, I’m hoping for some Y: The last man too. Great read.

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 16:00

#4 is out today. :-)

@8 noruraeus

I’m just looking at the store right now on MediaGo, and both Y: The Last Man #4 and Wildcats #7 are actually on the store. I think someone might of had to do the blog post in a rush today…

Oh and just to point it out, Markosia really are awesome! Raising Amy #1 is only £0.79 but it has 51 pages!!! That’s a total steal, go buy it!

I’d really like to see the Resident Evil comics on the store, maybe the RE: Fire & Ice graphic novel?

Ah theres those Silent Hill comics!
Thank you DComics you always deliver, i cant wait for the next set of batman comics to come

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 16:01

Yup DC really deliver, and I’m sure we’ll have more Batman soon…
Enjoy Silent Hill in the meantime!

I read those Silent Hill comics on the Silent Hill Experience disc. They’re pretty bad, and Ben Templesmith only does the art for issues #1 and #2, I think. Someone else does #3-5

more classic oldies please.

any more stuff with commentary etc.

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 16:04

Oldies-wise you have Journey Into Mystery (1952) today, and also We Will Bury You #4 for commentary. More to come!

ooh, starcraft, i’ll have that.
i see no y the last man but readint the comments i see the list was cut short and it is there, so i’ll have that too.
i don’t suppose wonder woman was cut off too was it?

a little part of me dies each week when i read that list and there’s no wonder woman. :(
i’ll cry if that helps, i don’t know how to do the emoticon for it but take my word, i’m crying inside.
honest >_>

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 17:00

Yup it’s pretty good – the interview of the writer is very interesting as well.

No Wonder Woman sorry. :-(
Aw you gave us all a sad here. I’ll make sure I ask DC in order to avoid more tears.

I can;t find the comics on the psn store. Am i looking in the wrong place? can someone tell me exactly where there are and how i can downlaod them thank you

the comics wont be on the store on ps3, you have to access them from the store on psp or with media go

oh no :< when you say media go are you refering to the psp go? or is it something else? Is there any plans to have a comic store on the ps3?

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 17:03

As HazelAM says you can get them through either PSP or MediaGo, our PC store front, but they cannot be read on a PS3 just yet, only through our PSP viewer (downloadable for free too). We would love to bring you a shiny PS3 version though, so stay tuned.

no, media go is a piece of software sony created that lets you access the psp store on pc.
you can also manage the content on your psp and back it up to the pc if you need to clear space on your psp.
i don’t think we’ll see a comic store on ps3 until we see a ps3 version of the reader, which i hope they’re working on.

ok that didn’t work, try this
copy that and take out the space after www.

and the one in download

Pauline Martyn 25 August, 2010 @ 17:00

Thanks for helping!

Any manga on the cards?

I´m very disapointed. Still no Comic store, still no PS3 reader.

Any news about when new countries will be added?

(we’ll keep asking till we get a date)

cool, starcraft is written, well co-written, by simon furman, been a big fan of his since the 80s with his work on transformers, and he’s done some great stuff with transformers with idw.

which reminds me, do you have any news on when we’ll see new the next issue of the ongoing series on the store?

M3RL1NS_N3M3S1S 26 August, 2010 @ 01:40

is it just me or is silent hill #1 missing? i cant see it on Media Go…

Another unhappy camper over here about the wait we have to endure..:(

cool thanks for your help guys >
