‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 9th February 2011

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update 9th February 2011

All to memorise the popular memory of PlayStation with one another ‘Head’s Up’ argument. The new contents where we go believing because of you, including the monopolistic article of splendidly new PSN, Explodemon this week it possesses!

No, I haven’t quite gone completely off the deep end yet, this is merely my homage to Curve Studios’ PSN-Exclusive Explodemon!, which hits the Store today. You are tasked with saving your world from evil alien invaders by blowing yourself up repeatedly and often – this is exactly why video games were invented as far as I’m concerned. But Explodemon is only one of the great titles we have for you today…

Stacking (which is being given away in Plus this week) is the latest adventure/puzzler from Double Fine, following the story of Charlie, full time chimney sweep and Russian doll, as he attempts to save his family from the evil Baron.

Tales from Space: About a Blob gives you the chance to be part of your own sci-fi B-movie as you make your way through colourful environments, mercilessly devouring all in your path to become an unstoppable force of blobitude (yes, it is a word).

We also have the ultimate ‘Breakout’ experience for you in the form of Ricochet HD, the last word in horticultural-based undead defence via Plants vs. Zombies and the digital edition of Assassin’s Creed II (this is the GOTY edition with the DLC included).

We have demos for PS3 and PSP, new DLC for Mass Effect 2, Test Drive Unlimited 2 and The Sims 3, XMB themes with a suitably Valentines feel and some new avatars for you all to enjoy. They’re not even EyePet ones. And don’t forget the discounted 90-day subscription for DC Universe Online!

That’s everything for this week, but as Explodemon would say, I hope that situation new directory is enjoyed; it can see in the transfer direction this week along with attaching between the 16th is also gorgeous, in satisfying version. Bye!

Good update this week Ross. :)

Now what about these PS1 games? :P

Rather than typing it out all the time, please see my reply to comment number 6 for clarification. Cheers!

Under Siege avatars but where is the game!?

Couple of weeks at the most now – I’ve been emailing the Seed Studios guys for the last couple of days, they seem very nice.

Hey, still no Spyro! :(

Any word about the ps1 games that were meant to be hitting the store at the end of January?

Nice update btw

Pretty decent update :)

I was wondering, the “Monopoly” mini ain’t avaliable in Norway, do you know why? Could you check that out as I’d like to have that on the PSP.

Including PS+ offer I must say that this week update is very strong. What about your PS One wishlist post on the blog??

Hey all –

I just want to clarify that the PSone Blog post wishlist is 100% still on the way but has been postponed until I get sign off on me being able to share someinformtaion with you from our Legal department. And you know if Legal are involved it’s gonna be interesting news!

Seriously though, I can’t give you an accurate ETA but once I get the okay it’ll be up within 48 hours (so James has time to schedule it).

Great update this week ;-)

no GOOD ps1 games?

cant you just tell us the ps1 games we will be getting in next few months? dont need to know WHEN they’ll be out just knowing they will be comming will be enough…jsut so i can have cash in wallet ready.

also cant there be an option for avatars ( possibly pay the normal 20p fee ) so we can choose a trophy logo as our avatars? id love the ghostbusters logo trophy as my avatar, and ive given up hope for ghostbusters avatars :(

I tell you what, maybe you don’t need to give up on that avatar quite yet…
And no, I can’t tell you anything you’re getting oer the next few months I’m afraid, PSone included. But I can think of three REALLY highly anticipated ones that should be out within the next 21 days.

TheBigBoss0001 09 February, 2011 @ 13:05

The special offer Disney’s Hercules from last week isn’t showing on the Swedish PS Store, only thing we have is the Atlantis/Hercules bundle which is more expensive.
Would be nice if you could fix this. Hercules disappeared from the store a couple of weeks ago.

I’m currently working with Disney to get all their PSone Classics onto all Stores – I’ll notify you once we’re there.

no pink castle crashers dlc that the americans got?

KIllzone 3 Avatars ??? =(

Shortly after the release of Killzone 3 – I promise.

Sorry, you’ll have to wait for The Behemoth guys to submit it for us to release.

Americans just got Harvest Moon: BttN, are we gonna get it too anytime soon?

Guten Tag Ross, where was this weeks PSOne games post update?

Hey, I know this is going to be a popular question!
Please see comment number 6 for clarification. :)

oh i forgot you can’t post links in the blog :P

(copy and paste the link0

@ imajinetion

Last word on Under Siege was that a final revision has been re-submitted to Sony QA after the Devs found that there were Sync errors in the Multiplayer section.

Who knows how long we have left to wait. :(

Hey, Under Siege avatars! That must mean the game is close… right?

Fairly close, yep, providing all goes well! :)

Not a bad update though, but the only thing I wanna know is if we’ll be getting any of the old Spyro games anytime soon?

No new PSP games?

Anyway, looking forward for the Xperia Play event this Sunday, will Playstation Suite games be managed by you some people, or by a complete diferent management?

Carnivius_Prime 09 February, 2011 @ 13:08

Might get explodemon but i was really hoping for a demo.

Stacking is free on Plus which I already subscribe to.

About a Blob is a good game but I don’t really want to pay a tenner for it. Was hoping that would have a Plus discount at least.

About a Blob is really a very good game, I was enjoying it a lot. Explodemon also gets my seal of approval, I would recommend it to any platformer fan.

Good update, and thanks for the LBP valentines day pack, we never got the festive one :( US did though. Also when’s Spyro coming I’m desperate to play it again :0

Hello there Ross.. nice update.. just a quick question..

Filmy..? what is that..? and if you install it will it be an application in the Video section (just like Mubi)? or how does it work?

Here’s the lowdown on Filmy – it’s quite a specialist application.

Filmy™ allows you to manage all of your AVCHD home videos directly from any compatible camera and view them on your HD TV via the Video tab on your XMB™ menu.

The easy to use interface lets you categorise videos by date, event or even by location thanks to GPS tagging which displays your movies on the world map. You can add a “favourite” stamp to specific scenes in your best videos and even filter them to display movies that include people or smiling faces, or quickly skip to specific points using the “Film Roll” option.

Filmy™ supports videos recorded in AVCHD format using compatible Sony Handycam®, Cyber-shot™ or ‘α’ cameras.

How about that then? :)

@19 *same

Any news on when/if the Gift feature will come to the store Ross?

No, no news from my end – this would be a global feature determined well above my head if it goes ahead.

Ross is the Boss!

@22 It’s a video editing application. There’s more info about it in the US blog.

Just great, why does the demo for nail’d have to release AFTER the game? I could have saved myself £25 if the demo was out earlier >:(

Sweet update, Ross. Plants vs Zombies and Stacking!

I can’t deny, it’s a very strong one this week. I’m happy that you’re happy!

any chance of getting Nightmare Creatures on the store

I’m looking into it, yep. There’s ALWAYS a chance.

Disclaimer: Chances of some games better than others.

almighty-slayer 09 February, 2011 @ 13:11

Great update Rossy :) Explodemon and About a Blob to buy, and Stacking for free!

*grumbles about money*

Yeeees – your cash, I has it. Gief!!

NEW PSone classic and I want Clayfighter HD, Rabbids on PS Move, and PSOne classic LEGO Racers and Asterix: Take on Ceasar.

Pretty please, Ross.

P.S. Clayfighter HD will be a remake of the SNES game Clayfighter 2: Judgement Clay

Hi Ross, I hate being a pest and asking every week, but any update on The Show request? I hate to sound like a broken record but I think this is the only place I can find out about the progress (if any) on it.

Thanks again.

If I’m honest you won’t hear anything for a while, if they decide to pursue it I will let you know though, since it was a great idea. :)

WOW what an awesome update today, love it but damn it…too many exellent games allready (GT5,LBP2 and DC Universe:Online) that needs my full attention…and i havent even opened my Dead Space 2 LE box,Monopoly Streets and so on..

i’ll get the demos and the PS+ stuff aswell as Explodemon today i think..that said, i want em all but lol…no time yet.

Hey, I’m not going to stand between you and LBP2, Dead Space and GT5… you take all the time you need, and we’ll leave a light on for you. ;)

Can I buy a 90 day sub for DC Online and activate it in 2 months time or does it start from the moment I buy it.

It’ll kick in right away I’m afraid. If you want to keep that discounted 90-day rate you have to purchase while it’s still on offer. For the life os the subscription (as long as you keep it going without stopping) you get the discounted rate.

What is Filmy?

Explodemon for me maybe… Shame there’s no demo. What happened to Auditorium HD and The Undergarden?

Undergarden still coming – Auditorium HD is still a way out yet because of when it was sumitted to us. Spelunker is also confirmed to be on the way, but will be a while yet.

a other weak update no dragon lair but we have avatars without the game still no strong-bad only 1, 2 thing i‘m getting.

& i still belive SCEE Sit on content Jap/scea imports & the ever cry out it still coming like the ever coming resident evil series. :/

Okay, what you mean to say is this is an update that doesn’t have what you want in it.

It is in no way, a weak update.

have you had a look at the castle crashers dlc yet ross?

i asked on the US Blog and they said that we would be getting it to

Well hey, if The Behemoth guys said we’d be getting it then we definitely will! It’s up to them, after all. :)

nemesisND1derboy 09 February, 2011 @ 13:15

Hi Ross, thanks for the update! Getting Stacking free with PS+ today which is fantastic! on’t know whether I should by PvZ for the third time or not…very tempting.

As an aside, the other lot announced their release date for Beyond Good and Evil HD, I know you can’t give us a date but can you at least say whether they have it as a timed exclusive or not? Many thanks!

Hey, I’d love to talk about it BGaE, it’s an amazing, AMAZING game, but my hands are tied. Well, my mouth is tied… you know what I mean. I can’t say. :)

and still no dissidia 012 prologus, oh well nxt week i hope, any chance you can tell us when prologus comes along?

apart from that not bad an update this week!

nice to see stacking made it. and demo aswell! great. still waiting for that john marston avatar though…. and whats happening with that mass effect 2 patch that was announced two weeks ago??! (i know its probably not ur responsebility but please pass it along)

@ #35 (hollandnigel)

Fill yer boots : http://bit.ly/hHInVe

DutchGameGod21 09 February, 2011 @ 13:16

Sorry for the delay I’m ni and out abit this afternoon!

So, my heart was warmed by your pleas and I emailed your comment to Ryan from Drinkbox. We’ll see what happen!

Dear Ross,

I’d love to see PSOne classics being a big success, but the…
I really want to see the original Gex (or a HD remake) to be released.

Assassins Creed 2: Game of The Year – Platinum Edition (PS3)

Amazon £11.91
Ubisoft PSN price £23.99

Publishers WILL get the message one day Ross, just not sure that we’ll be alive to see that day. :(

Hmm, well they have their reasons.

Back To The Future?

I had a dream last night that I would be playing resident evil on my psp today… oh well :(

Ahh it was a premonition!

Hi, can you indicate either way if we’re due to receive the PSone classic (and it really is!), Harvest Moon, the damn americans just got it..

thanks :)

StraightEdge420 09 February, 2011 @ 13:18

Will there be WWE Smackdown Vs Raw DLC? The US got theirs this week.

Time for an obligatory comment about PSOne games. The post last week got me all hot and bothered for some PSOne games, but the subsequent store updates have been quite the cold shower. Guess I better get used to that again.

If I communicated nothing else in that post it was that PSone titles in the EU take their sweet time. Hold on a wee bit longer.
